Luol Deng (tight left hamstring) has been ruled out of Monday's game vs. Boston.
Deng is tentatively targeting a return on Thursday vs. Oklahoma City, so this news comes as expected. Gerald Green will likely draw another start on Monday, but he's going to face Avery Bradley in a tough matchup vs. the Celtics, limiting his DFS appeal. Rookie Justise Winslow, who has played 30-plus minutes in two of his last three games, will also see extended run. Nov 30 - 11:41 AM

Luol Deng (hamstring) is hopeful he'll be able to return to the court for Thursday's matchup with the Thunder.

Deng said unless he "magically wakes up" feeling a lot better on Monday, he will miss his third consecutive game when the Heat take on the Celtics on Monday. He was able to do a bit more during Sunday's practice, but the hamstring is still bothering him when he tries to sprint. "I'm able to slide and do a lot," Deng said. "My jump shot is fine. It's when I try to sprint, and I'm trying to just take off. That's when it's troubling me." Gerald Green should draw another start on Monday, and he makes sense as a DFS target after scoring in double figures in his previous two outings.
Nov 29 - 3:31 PM

Luol Deng (hamstring) is doubtful for Monday's game vs. the Celtics.

He is making progress and was able to do a little more work at practice on Sunday, but it sounds like the Heat will hold him out again as a precaution. For now, expect Gerald Green to get another start and be sure to give him a long look in DFS. Deng is considered day-to-day.
Nov 29 - 1:03 PM

Luol Deng (hamstring) will not play on Friday vs. the Knicks.

This will be his second straight game in street clothes, but hamstring issues can linger if they aren't given enough time to heal so it's understandable that the Heat want to be cautious with their veteran forward. Gerald Green drew the start on Wednesday vs. the Pistons and scored 16 points in 38 minutes, so expect him to see plenty of run again on Friday. Deng's hamstring has improved, and it's possible that he could return on Monday vs. the Celtics.
Nov 27 - 11:13 AM

Luol Deng (hamstring) is being listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Knicks.

Deng missed Wednesday's game with the hamstring injury, and called the injury a day-to-day thing. He could be headed for a game-time decision on Friday, and if he's not able to give it a go, Gerald Green will likely spend another game in the starting five. Green had a decent game with the starting unit on Wednesday, scoring 16 points over 38 minutes, so he'd be worth considering as a punt play in DFS should Deng remain out.
Nov 26 - 2:13 PM

Luol Deng (hamstring) has officially been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Pistons.

"We're just trying to be cautious, trying to be smart," Deng said of bypassing the game against the Pistons, the Heat's first road game in nearly three weeks. "I played the last game and it hasn't gotten any better, so I think we just want to be smart and just try to get rid of the little nagging injury that will just linger on and become something else." We'll consider Deng questionable for Friday's matchup with the Knicks, and it's looking like Gerald Green could draw the start on Wednesday, with Goran Dragic seeing some increased opportunity on offense.
Nov 25 - 1:05 PM

Luol Deng (hamstring) is not expected to play Wednesday vs. the Pistons.

Deng said that he will wait until closer to Friday before determining his status for the Heat's game against the Knicks, implying that he will not suit up tonight. Owners of Deng should keep him on their bench, and Goran Dragic will see a bit of a boost sans Deng. Justise Winslow will have the opportunity to enter the starting five with Deng on the sidelines, but he doesn't really fill up the stat sheet even when given the minutes.
Nov 25 - 11:36 AM

Luol Deng (hamstring) sat out Tuesday's practice and is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Pistons.

Hamstring injuries are tricky, and given that Deng said his hamstring tightened up on him during Monday's game, it wouldn't be surprising to see him wearing a suit on Wednesday night. If Deng can't give it a go tomorrow, Goran Dragic would have some increased opportunity for touches on offense. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh would also see a spike to their usage rates, and Justise Winslow would have the opportunity to start. Stay tuned.
Nov 24 - 3:54 PM

Luol Deng scored nine points with three rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer against the Knicks on Monday.

He was a game-time decision to play today due to a hamstring issue. Deng has not been heavily involved in the offense and has taken less than 10 shots from the field in seven of his last eight games. Deng's low ceiling makes him an undesirable player to own in standard leagues.
Nov 24 - 12:40 AM

Luol Deng (hamstring) will start against the Knicks on Monday.

He might be limited tonight with his hamstring issue and had tightness for much of the day. If Deng doesn't get his normal playing time, that could mean more minutes for Justise Winslow.
Nov 23 - 6:43 PM

Luol Deng (hamstring) still has tightness in his hamstring and remains a game-time decision against the Knicks on Monday.

He is getting treatment and it sounds like the team is hopeful he'll be able to play. If Deng is out, Justise Winslow would be looking at even more playing time. Chris Bosh and Hassan Whiteside would play more, too.
Nov 23 - 5:52 PM

Luol Deng (tightness in hamstring) is a game-time decision for Monday's contest vs. the Knicks.

After originally tweaking the hamstring in the third quarter vs. the Sixers, Deng was able to make it through shootaround despite getting treatment, so that's at least a good sign that the injury isn't serious. Still, the Heat are extremely cautious when treating injuries, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Deng sit out. If he does miss this one, rookie Justise Winslow could get the call since Miami will need his defense vs. Carmelo Anthony.
Nov 23 - 11:13 AM

Luol Deng scored 11 points with one rebound, four assists and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes against the 76ers on Saturday.

He's moved down pretty far on the totem pole and Justise Winslow is taking some of his minutes. Deng does not have enough upside to own in standard leagues right now with so many high-usage players on the Heat.
Nov 22 - 12:04 AM

Luol Deng (illness) will be in the starting lineup on Saturday vs. the 76ers.

Deng wasn't able to practice on Friday, but his status wasn't in doubt and his owners can go ahead and activate him in their lineups.
Nov 21 - 7:18 PM

Luol Deng (illness) will be available for Saturday's game against the 76ers.

Deng took the day off at practice on Friday because of the illness, but head coach Erik Spoelstra confirmed that he was back with the team on Saturday. Deng has been really inconsistent this season and is averaging just 10.4 points, 4.1 boards, 1.0 steal, 1.3 assists and 1.2 3-pointers per game, so he is a low-end option at best.
