Luol Deng did not score against the Pelicans on Saturday with four rebounds, two assists and no turnovers.
He’s not playing quite as much power forward as last year, especially with 49 percent of his minutes coming with the starting unit. Still, Deng’s rebounding rate is way up and he’s getting consistent run. Once he starts hitting shots, he should get better. There’s no need to add him in most leagues until he gets it going because he's clearly struggling on the offensive end. Nov 12 - 9:49 PM

Luol Deng played just 23 minutes and hit 1-of-5 shots for two points, six rebounds and a steal in Thursday's win over the Kings.

Deng has scored seven or fewer points in four straight games, while Brandon Ingram played 28 minutes off the bench for four points, six rebounds and two assists. The Lakers made a nice comeback to win this game and it appears that they may be ready to turn Ingram loose, at Deng's expense. As bad as Deng has been, don't be afraid to move on if you can get something better off your waiver wire. And you probably can.
Nov 11 - 1:36 AM

Luol Deng hit just 1-of-5 shots for two points, five rebounds and three assists in 30 lost minutes of Tuesday's loss to the Mavericks.

The Lakers have pulled off some impressive upsets, but allowed the Mavs to get their second win of the season tonight. Deng's been terrible over his last three games, scoring no more than seven points in any of them and hitting just 4-of-16 shots along the way. Maybe he'll bounce back soon, but if you have been wanting to drop Deng, now looks like as good a time as any to do so.
Nov 9 - 12:52 AM

Luol Deng struggled vs. the Thunder on Sunday, going scoreless with three assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block in 22 minutes.

Deng only attempted three shots (two from downtown) and it's a very disappointing follow-up to Friday's double-double. The Lakers will continue to develop Brandon Ingram at Deng's expense, and there should be better rest-of-season targets on your waiver wire.
Oct 30 - 9:48 PM

Luol Deng double-doubled vs. the Jazz on Friday with 12 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, one block and two treys in 34 minutes.

Brandon Ingram went down with a sore right knee on Friday, so Deng could be looking at a similar workload vs. the Thunder on Sunday. Deng only had seven points with five rebounds in the opener and tonight's line is basically his ceiling at this point in his career, so he's still a low-end option.
Oct 28 - 11:48 PM

Luol Deng made an unassuming debut for the Lakers on Wednesday, scoring seven points with five boards in 28 minutes.

The veteran shot 3-of-9 from the field while adding one 3-pointer and one steal, so it wasn't a total loss. His outlook will grow dimmer by the month with L.A. inevitably developing Brandon Ingram at his expense, so there's not a lot to like for fantasy purposes.
Oct 27 - 1:47 AM

Luol Deng (left leg) and Timofey Mozgov (tailbone) are being listed as probable for Wednesday's regular-season opener against Houston.

Walton already said on Tuesday that both would be available on opening night, so the probable tag is just a formality. Feel free to get them active.
Oct 26 - 1:54 PM

Luke Walton confirmed on Tuesday that both Luol Deng (left leg) and Timofey Mozgov (tailbone) will be good to go for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Rockets.

Deng could provide some low-end value to begin the year, but his role could slowly diminish in Los Angeles as the losses begin to pile up and player development becomes a priority over wins. Mozgov signed a massive deal with the Lakers this offseason, but it would be surprising if he were a significant factor in fantasy hoops this year.
Oct 25 - 4:38 PM

Luol Deng (left leg) and Timofey Mozgov (tailbone) are probable to play in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Rockets.

Neither guy is dealing with a significant injury, so it would be very surprising to see them miss opening night. Deng will be L.A.'s starting small forward, but his minutes could be held in check with the development of Brandon Ingram being a priority for the Lakers.
Oct 25 - 3:53 PM

Luol Deng (rest) will not play on Friday.

It looks to be just a night off for the veteran. Deng should start the opener, but he'll have Brandon Ingram right behind him all season.
Oct 21 - 8:43 PM

Luol Deng will be rested vs. the Warriors on Wednesday.

There's nothing to see here, as L.A. is taking the opportunity to rest the veteran in a meaningless game. Nick Young will get the start at SF in his absence.
Oct 19 - 8:27 PM

Luol Deng (bruised left knee) returned from a two-game absence on Tuesday vs. Portland, scoring seven points with three rebounds in 14 minutes.

Lakers coach Luke Walton said before the game that he would be cautious with Deng, so that explains the low minutes. Brandon Ingram is going to be brought along slowly, but he will eventually eat into Deng's minutes as the season progresses. Deng is an unattractive fantasy asset in the later rounds despite having the starting role.
Oct 12 - 12:57 AM

Luol Deng (bruised left knee) will start on Tuesday vs. the Blazers.

He missed the last two games for the Lakers, but the team was just being cautious. For what it's worth, Deng is not expected to have a large workload tonight. Nick Young will move back to the bench, while D'Angelo Russell, Lou Williams, Julius Randle and Timofey Mozgov will remain in the starting lineup.
Oct 11 - 8:52 PM

Luol Deng (bruised left knee) is probable to play in Tuesday's preseason game against Portland.

Deng sat out that past two preseason games with the knee bruise, but he was a full participant during shootaround, so he should be out there tonight which will more than likely shift Metta World Peace back to the bench. Deng is expected to start for the Lakers this season, but he's not worth much more than a late-round selection in standard formats.
Oct 11 - 2:54 PM

Luol Deng (bruised knee) will not play on Sunday.

The Lakers will start D'Angelo Russell, Lou Williams, Nick Young, Julius Randle and Timofey Mozgov. Deng is reportedly "feeling better" but the Lakers have no incentive to risk a setback. Metta World Peace started L.A.'s previous exhibition, and Brandon Ingram's continued bench role is likely designed to get him comfortable with the second unit.
