Luol Deng has agreed to a four-year, $72 million deal with the Lakers.
The Lakers are serious about adding some veterans to their young roster and the Heat simply couldn't afford to bring him back after re-signing Hassan Whiteside to a max deal. Deng will likely start at small forward while Brandon Ingram develops, but he will also see some minutes as a stretch four. He's still only a late-round pick in fantasy after averaging 12.3 points, 6.0 boards, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.2 3-pointers last season. As for Ingram, he loses a bit of fantasy value with this news and Larry Nance won't see as many minutes. Jul 2 - 9:00 AM

The Jazz are expected to be very aggressive on unrestricted free agent Luol Deng, according to Adrian Wojnarowski on The Vertical Free Agent Show.

The report adds the Clippers and Wolves are interested. The Jazz have a decent amount of wings, but do need a little depth at small forward. Rodney Hood broke out last year as one of the main ball-handlers and played very well next to Gordon Hayward, so they are solid in the first unit. Deng's 32.4 minutes per game from last season would likely drop as he heads into his age-31 season.

Luol Deng's agent is expecting a call from the Wolves on Friday morning.

The obvious Tom Thibodeau connection comes into play here. Thibodeau played Deng an NBA-high 39.4 minutes per game back in 2011-12 and the Wolves could use some depth -- Deng can't play huge minutes anymore, though. Minnesota isn't too deep on small forwards and they have some room, so Deng makes some sense.

The Jazz will reportedly pursue Luol Deng during free agency.

Deng has stated on multiple occasions that his preference would be to remain with Miami, but Utah may be able to steal him away from the franchise during the early goings of free agency while the Heat focus their attention on Kevin Durant and Hassan Whiteside. With Derrick Favors, Rodney Hood, George Hill and Gordon Hayward already all fighting for touches, Deng would only complicate the equation.

Luol Deng would like to re-sign with the Miami Heat.

There is a deal to be made here as the Heat have expressed their desire to keep Deng, but he'll likely have to pass up a larger contract to re-sign with Miami. "I enjoyed every bit of it, so going forward, I would love to be here," he said. "It’s something that we’ll sit down and discuss. I can’t really say one bad thing about being here." While the 31-year-old averaged 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists. 1.0 steals, and 1.2 three-pointers in 2015-16, he's not worth much more than a later-round pick in standard fantasy leagues no matter where he signs.
Jun 2 - 11:11 AM

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Heat "would love to try to find a way to keep" Luol Deng.

Although Deng has expressed his desire to re-sign and Pat Riley called the veteran part of the team's "core," it's far from a lock that he'll be back in 2016-17. With Miami prioritizing the free agent situations of both Hassan Whiteside and Dwyane Wade ahead of Deng, it's possible that the forward will be squeezed out of the picture.
May 30 - 9:22 AM

Pat Riley referred to impending free agent Luol Deng as part of Miami's "core," and said the Heat will do "everything [they] can do to keep him."

"He's a great leader, high character guy," Riley said. "We love him. I consider him one of our core people." Deng is 31 years old and coming off a mostly healthy, productive season with 74 games played and averages of 12.3 points, 1.2 threes, 6.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals and only 1.1 turnovers. He said he hopes to re-sign with Miami, and the interest is mutual.
May 18 - 7:36 PM

Luol Deng would like to re-sign with the Miami Heat this offseason.

Deng will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, but said he would like to stay in Miami. "Obviously going forward I would love to be here," Deng said. "One thing I know is this is an organization that wants to win." The 31-year-old averaged 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists. 1.0 steals, and 1.2 three-pointers in 2015-16 and isn't anything more than a late-round pick in standard fantasy leagues no matter where he signs.
May 17 - 1:55 PM

Luol Deng scored two points with eight rebounds, two assists and one block in 41 minutes against the Raptors on Friday.

He and his bad wrist led the Heat in minutes and rebounds tonight. Deng has really cooled off with statistical production in this series, averaging 6.8 points, 5.8 boards, 1.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.5 blocks on 34.1 percent from the field in his last six. He's worth more in reality right now and isn't a great DFS play.
May 13 - 11:24 PM

Luol Deng (wrist) will play against the Raptors on Friday and said he feels great.

He will have a wrap on his wrist for this game. It'll be interesting to see how the Heat use Deng because they might not want him to take too much contact in the paint. If he needs his minutes decreased, we'll see more Justise Winslow in this game.
May 13 - 7:14 PM

Luol Deng (wrist) will warm up with the intention to play.

He has a bruised left (non-shooting) wrist and did go through shootaround. The Heat used him at center for 10 minutes in Game 4 and missed him badly in Game 5. If Deng is limited tonight, we should see more of Justise Winslow along with plenty of small lineups.
May 13 - 6:22 PM

Luol Deng (left wrist) is still questionable for Game 6 on Friday.

He was diagnosed with a deep bruise in his left wrist after an MRI on Thursday, but he was able to go through the morning shootaround. Deng said he would play if the injury is not too serious, so it's hard to imagine him sitting out with the Heat on the brink of elimination. If he is unable to give it a go, expect to see a lot of Justise Winslow.
May 13 - 11:45 AM

Luol Deng has been diagnosed with a painful bruise in his left wrist, and is being listed as questionable for Friday's Game 6 against the Raptors.

Deng's MRI did not reveal a fracture, and given that he said he would play if nothing serious was revealed on the MRI, he'll more than likely gut it out and suit up for Friday's Game 6. With Hassan Whiteside (knee) likely out for Game 6, Deng should get all the run he can handle, although he could struggle with efficiency. Check back for official confirmation on his status closer to Friday's tip.
May 12 - 3:45 PM

Luol Deng (left wrist) is questionable for Game 6 on Friday.

Deng will undergo an MRI on Thursday, but doesn't sound too worried after tripping over a photographer in Game 5. "I wanted to play through it," Deng said. "I wanted to get the X-ray and go out there and play. But [the doctor] thought just to be safe because we weren’t sure exactly from the X-rays [what it was]. "I want to be positive. We should know [more] when we get the MRI [on Thursday]. If there’s nothing serious I’ll be playing." If Deng is unable to play, Josh Richardson and Gerald Green would see increased run.
May 12 - 12:27 PM

Luol Deng (left wrist) will have an MRI on Thursday.

Deng tripped over a photographer during Game 5 and injured himself while bracing his fall. "Right now we're just being smart," he said. "I have to know what it is. As long as it's nothing serious I will be out there [for Game 6]." Josh Richardson and Gerald Green stand to gain the most playing time if Deng is forced to miss a potential elimination game on Friday.
