Luol Deng scored an efficient 21 points during a win over the Hornets on Friday, adding four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and three 3-pointers in 36 minutes.
That's good for a tidy 75.0 true shooting percentage. This has been a great matchup for Deng with the Hornets not having great defenders at power forward. In six games, he averaged 19.7 points, 6.3 boards, 1.8 assists, 0.5 blocks and 3.0 treys. He's certainly on the radar for DFS in Game 7. Apr 29 - 11:47 PM

Date:

Luol Deng made 4-of-14 from the field for 15 points with seven rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers against the Hornets on Monday.

The Hornets did a much better job on Deng to close out on his jumpers. After a monster first quarter on Saturday, Deng has been fairly quiet in the last seven quarters. The Heat might have to get him some new plays to get him open again. Expect him to be closer to his 22.0 points per game average from the first three games for Game 5.
Apr 25 - 10:02 PM

Luol Deng scored 19 points with eight rebounds, two assists and five 3-pointers in 35 minutes against the Hornets on Saturday.

He was on fire in the first quarter with 14 points in the first six minutes, but didn't do much after that. Credit coach Steve Clifford for coaching up his guys to closing out after the early run. Deng is in a great matchup now, especially with Nicolas Batum (ankle) out. Expect some nice lines going forward.
Apr 23 - 8:15 PM

Luol Deng followed up a huge Game 1 with 16 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block on Wednesday, as the Heat won their 13th straight first-round playoff game at home.

Deng made 11-of-13 shots on Sunday and was a focus for the Hornets' defense tonight, but it hardly mattered as he still made 6-of-11 field goals. The Heat set a franchise postseason record with a 72-point first half and they continue to thrive offensively in a smaller lineup with Deng at PF. With two days of rest before Game 3, Miami will be well-rested when they try to put the series in a stranglehold on Saturday.
Apr 20 - 9:55 PM

Luol Deng was phenomenal in 33 minutes on Sunday, finishing with 31 points on 11-of-13 shooting, with four 3-pointers, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Deng committed only one turnover and seemingly couldn't miss from the field, answering any Hornets run with his own buckets. The veteran has thrived since moving to PF after Chris Bosh was sidelined with blood clots, a late-season surge that sets him up for a nice pay-day as an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Apr 17 - 8:25 PM

Luol Deng double-doubled in a loss to the Blazers on Saturday, finishing with 14 points (5-of-13 FGs), 13 rebounds, two assists, three steals and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes.

He was slowing down towards the end of March, but he's heating up again, averaging 14.4 points, 9.0 boards, 2.8 assists, 0.8 blocks, 1.4 steals and 1.4 3-pointers over his last five games. The Heat need him to be more aggressive with Dwyane Wade (neck) on the shelf, so he could have a strong finish to the season. The Heat have four games on the schedule next week.
Apr 3 - 12:52 AM

Luol Deng found his shooting touch on Wednesday, making 9-of-15 shots to finish with 22 points, 11 boards (five offensive), two assists, one steal and a season-high three blocked shots.

Deng has played heavy minutes all season and it seems to have caught up to him in the past few weeks, as he shot just 29.4 percent in his previous four games. He rounded out tonight's line with two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer, and gets another promising matchup vs. the Kings on Friday.
Mar 31 - 1:30 AM

Luol Deng scored 10 points with 13 rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in 35 minutes against the Magic on Friday.

The thigh bruise was not a concern and his game off on Wednesday was more of a precautionary thing. Deng can't play big minutes like he used to, so there might be another game off. He should still be owned in all leagues.
Mar 25 - 11:37 PM

Luol Deng (thigh) is in the starting lineup against the Magic on Friday.

He went through warmups and everything seems to have checked out. Deng will start next to Goran Dragic, Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson and Amare Stoudemire. He should be starting in all leagues tonight.
Mar 25 - 7:13 PM

Luol Deng (thigh) is warming up with the intention to play vs. the Magic on Friday.

Deng went through shootaround and Erik Spoelstra expects to have him available, so barring a setback he should be good to go. His return would bump Josh McRoberts back to the bench.
Mar 25 - 6:23 PM

Luol Deng (thigh) is expected to play on Friday vs. the Magic.

He made it through the morning shootaround and coach Erik Spoelstra said that he expects to have Deng back in the lineup. This means that Josh McRoberts will return to the bench, while Justise Winslow will see a few less minutes. We'll have another update before tip-off.
Mar 25 - 11:24 AM

Luol Deng (thigh) is being listed as questionable for Friday's game against Orlando.

Miami described Deng's absence from Wednesday's game as a precautionary measure, and Deng said that he plans to play Friday, so he's probably a bit closer to probable. However, if he's forced to the sidelines again, Josh McRoberts would have another opportunity to start, and there would be more minutes available for Gerald Green and Justise Winslow. Stay tuned.

Luol Deng (thigh) expects to play against the Magic on Friday.

Though Deng missed Wednesday's game after playing through his thigh injury for about a week, he doesn't expect to be out long. "It’s not something that’s gonna be long," Deng said. "We just want to give it two days." We'll keep an eye on his status after shootaround on Friday, but it seems like fantasy owners will have Deng available against the Magic.
Mar 24 - 9:42 AM

Luol Deng (thigh) will not play on Wednesday against the Spurs.

Coach Erik Spoelstra said Deng hurt his thigh back on Thursday and has been playing through it. The Heat will keep him out and it's more of a precautionary thing. Deng should be ready to go on Friday against the Magic. It'll be a team effort to replace him with Josh McRoberts, Justise Winslow and Amare Stoudemire likely stepping up. We should see more Josh Richardson, too.
Mar 23 - 7:03 PM

Luol Deng could be rested on Wednesday against the Spurs.

He's played some heavy minutes and hasn't played well lately either. The Heat won't have another back-to-back set until next month, so this might be a good spot to sit him in a road game. If he can't go, we should see more of Josh McRoberts, Justise Winslow and Amare Stoudemire.
