Robert Swift, who has been playing in Japan, could wind up with the Celtics or Knicks after the lockout, according to former Tokyo Apache coach Bob Hill.
This suggestion comes out of left field and will likely be forgotten by the time the lockout does end. Swift failed to materialize into a reliable option during a few injury-plagued seasons with the Sonics and Thunder, and isn't likely to be more than another big body on the bench. Former Sonics/Thunder center Robert Swift has signed with Tokyo Apache, a team in the Japanese BJ league.

Remember when Josh Childress signed with Greece and near-panic ensued? It's safe to say fears of a mass defection overseas were unfounded, as few casual NBA fans would even notice the disappearance of guys like Swift and Travis Diener (who is headed to Sardinia). We wish them the best of luck.

Former Thunder center Robert Swift will play for the Celtics in the Summer League.

Danny Ainge was tempted to take Swift in the 2004 draft, but (luckily) ended up with Al Jefferson instead. Swift would probably be a better fit with the Nuggets, given the fact he might be the most tattooed guy in the league. Coby Karl will also play for the Celtics' Summer League team.

Robert Swift returned to the Thunder lineup on Tuesday after missing their last game for personal reasons.

Swift had five points and one rebound in six minutes. If he can't contribute without Nick Collison (groin) in the lineup, there's no reason to bother with him.

Robert Swift, who has missed two games due to personal reasons, is expected to join the Thunder in Sacramento where they play on Tuesday.

Swift has very little impact on the fantasy situation for the Thunder, and when he returns it will probably take him a little while before he resumes his normal role.

Robert Swift missed his second straight game due to personal reasons on Sunday.

Swift's absence barely registers on the fantasy radar, but the 14 minutes per game he averages when he does play is going to the rest of the Thunder frontcourt.

Robert Swift missed Oklahoma City's game on Saturday for personal reasons.

Swift is averaging just 14 minutes in 20 appearances this season, so he shouldn't be missed in fantasy leagues.

Robert Swift returned from a stomach virus Friday but played just three minutes.

He's an injury waiting to happen and therefore has no fantasy value.

Thunder center Robert Swift has been inactive for the past two games because of a stomach virus.

It's always something with Swift, who is unlikely to surface with a big role now that Nenad Krstic is in Oklahoma City.

After starting the past six games, Thunder center Robert Swift was inactive on Saturday and did not even sit on the bench.

Nick Collison or Nenad Krstic will probably surface as the long-term starting center, though this abrupt change was a mild surprise. If you're still clinging to Swift, let go.

Robert Swift started at center Monday and had six points, six boards, a steal and a block in the loss to the Phoenix.

Swift played 21 minutes with Joe Smith out with a knee injury and Nick Collison limited by a broken thumb. With Nenad Krstic on his way to joining the Thunder, Swift shouldn't offer much fantasy value.

Robert Swift (back spasms) returned to action on Tuesday, grabbing three rebounds in five minutes.

Oklahoma State is looking very crowded at center all of a sudden, and the injury-prone Swift is currently nowhere close to the front end of the rotation. He belongs on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues.

Thunder center Robert Swift (back spasms) practiced on Saturday and is aiming to return for Tuesday's game.

Whether or not Swift actually plays is up to coach Scott Brooks, and there is almost no chance that he'll have fantasy value. Nick Collison, Chris Wilcox and Johan Petro are all probably ahead of Swift on the depth chart right now, and the impending arrival of Nenad Krstic makes him even less attractive.

Robert Swift, who has missed 14 straight games (including the last eight because of back spasms), suffered a severe ankle sprain during practice on Monday.

He could return to practice this weekend, but even when active the injury-prone center's value is limited to the absolute deepest of leagues.
Wed, Dec 17, 2008 02:26:00 PM

Thunder center Robert Swift sat out Friday's game with a sore back.

He has been starting when healthy, but isn't providing reliable value. Throw in his constant injuries and you've got a fantasy bust.
