Dorell Wright said he's looking forward to playing in China.
Wright confirmed on Monday that he's accepted a one-year contract with the Chongqing Dragons and said he's looking forward to his time in China. "I’m really looking forward to it," Wrightsaid. "I’m going to be able to go play and really contribute and try to help a team win. If I have to start my career and be over there like a [Stephon Marbury], who paved the way for us American players and NBA players, I’m all for that." While the 29-year-old may find an avenue back to the NBA, he only averaged 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 116 games with the Trail Blazers so fantasy owners can feel free to move on from Wright. Dorell Wright will sign in China with the Chongqing Dragons for next season.

The Blazers were never really close to signing Wright and perhaps the closest team was the Miami Heat. Wright is certainly better than some players that will make an NBA roster, but chances are he will make more money overseas. Interestingly, his younger brother, Delon, was drafted by the Raptors this year and was looking forward to playing against Dorell.

Dorell Wright is reportedly considering signing in China.

Wright, somewhat surprisingly, has struggled to attract interest in free agency, and it's possible he may go overseas for a more lucrative contract as a result. The Heat, Clippers and Lakers have all been linked to Wright, but nothing has materialized at this point.
Aug 17 - 9:20 AM

The Heat have been in talks with free agent forward Dorell Wright, but they haven't made a contract offer yet.

Wright has also drawn some interest from other NBA teams, but he is reportedly unlikely to return to the Blazers. The Heat's roster is full and they would have to unload a player such as James Ennis to make a deal work, so we will be watching this story closely. Wright averaged 4.6 points in 12.4 minutes per game last season, and he wouldn't have more than a limited role if he did land in Miami.
Aug 16 - 9:25 AM

Dorell Wright is reportedly unlikely to return to Portland as an unrestricted free agent.

Wright is reportedly interested in joining on of the teams in Los Angeles, and with the Clippers in some serious need of help at the small forward position, they could shift their focus to Wright if they're unable to land Paul Pierce during free agency. Wright has been a negligible factor in fantasy hoops for about three seasons now, and a new uniform won't change that.

Dorell Wright (hand) was going through solo workouts on Wednesday.

He had surgery two months ago and apparently has rehabbed enough to get back on the court. Wright is an unrestricted free agent this summer and will likely fetch a veteran minimum deal.
Jun 3 - 2:35 PM

Dorell Wright (left hand fracture) is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks of action, but the fracture will not require surgery.

This is the news we were expecting on Wright, and with him set to miss the remainder of the regular season, it's safe to drop him in all formats. C.J. McCollum, Allen Crabbe, and Alonzo Gee should pick up some extra minutes with Wright out, but none of those guys are likely to do enough to matter in most leagues.

Dorell Wright (hand) will not play against the Lakers on Friday.

He will be re-evaluated in Los Angeles to determine treatment and a possible prognosis. Generally, it takes 4-6 weeks for a broken metacarpal to heal, but it's possible Wright makes it back sooner. If he's out, expect C.J. McCollum and Allen Crabbe to benefit.
Apr 2 - 7:32 PM

Dorell Wright (hand) will travel with the Blazers to Los Angeles for Friday's game against the Lakers, but his status is currently unknown at this point.

Wright suffered a broken fourth metacarpal in his left hand during Wednesday's game, and given this is an injury that generally takes 4-6 weeks to heal, we'll be considering him highly doubtful for Friday. If he's out, C.J. McCollum, Allen Crabbe, and Alonzo Gee will have the opportunity for extended minutes, although none of these guys can be viewed as viable options in standard leagues.

Dorell Wright suffered a broken fourth metacarpal in his left hand on Wednesday.

Usually, it takes about 4-6 weeks for this injury to heal, so Wright is unlikely to be back this regular season and he probably won't be back in time for a first-round playoff series. The Blazers may trust C.J. McCollum more with his minutes, which would put him on the radar in deeper leagues. Alonzo Gee and Allen Crabbe could also slide into the rotation.
Apr 2 - 1:33 AM

Dorell Wright assumed a starting role for Portland on Tuesday, finishing with 12 points, two 3-pointers, five rebounds, two assists and zero turnovers in 21 minutes.

Both Nicolas Batum (back) and LaMarcus Aldridge (finger) could sit out again vs. the Jazz on Wednesday, giving Wright a small window to extended playing time. He's not trustworthy in all but the deepest fantasy leagues, however, as highlighted by tonight's lackluster production.
Mar 25 - 1:50 AM

Dorell Wright and Alonzo Gee are starting in place of LaMarcus Aldridge (finger) and Nicolas Batum (back) vs. the Warriors on Tuesday.

It's possible that Batum and Aldridge miss some additional action, but considering how often head coach Terry Stotts tweaks his lineups, it's too difficult to pinpoint who will be the primary beneficiary. That being said, Gee's game doesn't translate to fantasy very well and he can be left on the wire in most leagues, while Wright has some upside and is worth a look for his 3-pointers. We will let you know how they fare after the game.
Mar 24 - 10:45 PM

Dorell Wright started in place of Nicolas Batum (back) for the second half on Saturday against the Grizzlies with 10 points, six boards, two assists, two steals, one black and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

It's unknown if Batum will miss time, but it's still going to be tough to add Wright. The last time Wright had a major blip on the fantasy radar back when he had a 15-point game on Jan. 21, he was almost a DNP-CD the next game even with the Blazers being banged up. Unless Batum is ruled out, it's hard to add Wright in most formats.
Mar 21 - 11:25 PM

Dorell Wright scored eight points in 13 minutes during Thursday's 94-75 win over the Mavs, adding one rebound, one assist and two 3-pointers.

With Wes Matthews (Achilles) out for the season, Wright might step up. However, we've seen this movie before with role players for Stotts. Basically, Arron Afflalo is going to step into Matthews' minutes while Wright, Alonzo Gee, C.J. McCollum and Steve Blake will get Afflalo's 27 minutes. Wright isn't worth owning in standard leagues.
Mar 6 - 1:29 AM

Dorell Wright took advantage of an expanded role in LaMarcus Aldridge's absence on Sunday, coming off the bench for nine points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 17 minutes.

Wright made 4-of-9 shots while missing both of his 3-point attempts, and his marks his highest playing-time since Jan. 24. Aldridge is day-to-day with a sprained right thumb and Portland has too much depth to consider adding Wright in standard fantasy formats.
