Jameer Nelson scored five points with seven rebounds, two steals and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes agains the Bucks on Wednesday.
He was very good late in this game and he even saw some clutch minutes. The Pelicans are having some success with their smaller guards to go with their two bigs and even Rajon Rondo gave the OK to keep Nelson out there. While Nelson has helped them win games, there's little incentive to owning him in fantasy while Rondo is active. Dec 13 - 11:54 PM

Date:

Jameer Nelson (ankle) is expected to play against the Bucks on Wednesday.

The Pelicans haven't missed him too much with Rajon Rondo and E'Twaun Moore both playing very well. Nelson doesn't have much fantasy value these days.
Dec 13 - 6:25 PM

Jammer Nelson (left ankle) is questionable to face the Bucks on Wednesday.

Nelson has spent the past two games on the sidelines, which has forced Rajon Rondo into heavy minutes, and it'll be more of the same if Nelson can't give it a go on Wednesday. With how well Rondo has played in Nelson's absence, he may be looking at a diminished role once he is able to make his way back to the court.
Dec 12 - 4:24 PM

Jameer Nelson (left ankle) will not play on Monday vs. Houston.

With Nelson on the shelf during Sunday's game vs. Philly, Rajon Rondo, Jrue Holiday and E'Twaun Moore each played 37 or more minutes with Ian Clark picking up 13 minutes. It's unclear how long Nelson will be sidelined, but he was trending down anyways with Rondo getting into a rhythm.
Dec 11 - 1:06 PM

Jameer Nelson (left ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the 76ers.

The Pelicans are on the frontend of a back-to-back set, so perhaps this is just a precautionary absence and he'll be able to get back out there for Monday's game in Houston. With Nelson unavailable, Ian Clark could pick up some extra run and Rajon Rondo should be able to flirt with minutes in the 30s.
Dec 10 - 5:23 PM

Jameer Nelson (left ankle) is doubtful for Sunday against the 76ers.

He did look a little slower on Friday and this is probably why. If Nelson can't go, Ian Clark figures to get the backup minutes behind Jrue Holiday and Rajon Rondo. Clark and Nelson aren't worth owning in most leagues with so little usage to go around.
Dec 9 - 6:17 PM

Jameer Nelson picked up 30 minutes due to Rajon Rondo (rest) not playing against the Kings on Friday, making 1-of-7 from the field for three points with three assists and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes.

A big letdown for Jameer with his team-low -16 in the plus-minus stat. Nelson was somewhat productive before Rajon Rondo returned, but he's lost his mojo lately as he's been under 34 percent from the field in each of his last three. He'll be closer to 20 minutes most nights and isn't doing enough to be owned in deep leagues.
Dec 9 - 1:43 AM

Jameer Nelson chipped in two points with eight assists, four rebounds and one steal in 23 minutes on Friday.

The Pelicans blew out the Suns tonight, which helped Nelson a bit, but he's been staying in the 18-22 minute range even with Rajon Rondo back in the starting unit. It appears he'll be the backup PG until further notice, with Ian Clark third on the PG depth chart.
Nov 25 - 12:26 AM

Jameer Nelson finished with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals in 35 minutes off the bench in Saturday's overtime win in Chicago.

It was just the third double-digit point performance for Nelson in eight outings with the Pels. On the flip side, he has turned in a pair of scoreless efforts during the span, too. He is just too erratic to rely upon outside of the very deepest fantasy formats.
Nov 4 - 11:16 PM

Jameer Nelson missed two shots and failed to score in 20 minutes vs. the Wolves on Wednesday.

He had a few rebounds and assists, but he's really cooled off with a combined five points in his last three games. If you haven't already, it's safe to drop him.
Nov 2 - 1:06 AM

Jameer Nelson posted another dud on Monday vs. the Magic, scoring five points on 2-of-6 shooting with six assists, one rebound and one triple in 25 minutes.

The dimes were nice, but Nelson apparently didn't have any interest in getting revenge against the Magic. This comes on the heels of a scoreless game on Saturday, so he's a potential drop candidate if there's a hot free agent available. The Pelicans do have three more games this week, though.
Oct 31 - 12:14 AM

Jameer Nelson did not score on Saturday with three rebounds, six assists and one steal in 19 minutes against the Cavs.

The return of Anthony Davis kept the Pelicans from running out three-guard lineups as much as Thursday. Nelson has caught on quickly and DeMarcus Cousins said the team was even running plays without Nelson even knowing them, but his fantasy value may not be there while the team is healthy.
Oct 28 - 9:49 PM

Jameer Nelson played 36 minutes and hit 7-of-13 shots and four 3-pointers for 18 points, four rebounds, six assists and a block in Thursday's win over the Kings.

He's only played three games for the Pelicans and will take a serious hit once Rajon Rondo is back from his hernia. However, Rondo still has a way to go before being ready to play and Nelson looked really good tonight. He's not a hot pickup, but if you're in a deeper league, or looking for a cheap DFS guard, he might be worth using from time to time. The old man's still got it.
Oct 27 - 2:06 AM

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said Jameer Nelson will continue to come off the bench going forward.

Nelson closed out the Lakers during his debut on Sunday, finishing with five points, five assists, one rebound and one steal in 24 minutes of action. He should have some deep-league appeal until Rajon Rondo is healthy, but we'd like him better if he was starting. E'Twaun Moore will continue to start for now.
Oct 23 - 6:25 PM

Jameer Nelson made his Pelicans debut on Sunday with five points, five assists, one rebound and one steal in 24 minutes of action.

Nelson was running the offense down the stretch of a close game tonight, even though he'd been with the Pelicans for only a few hours. Alvin Gentry obviously trusts him, and he rewarded that faith with some nice passes and a clutch 3-pointer to extend New Orleans' lead with 1:26 left. His season-long appeal is dubious, but Nelson is worth watching while Rajon Rondo is out.
