Jameer Nelson was predictably quiet with Ty Lawson back in action on Sunday, coming off the bench for nine points, four assists and one steal in 14 minutes.
It was actually a nice game for Nelson, who went 3-of-4 behind the arc, but a backup role behind minute-hog Lawson isn't a recipe for long-term success. Deep-league owners may find Nelson useful, but everyone else should be able to find better free agents. Jan 25 - 10:58 PM

Jameer Nelson started for Ty Lawson in Friday's loss to the Celtics, scoring 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting (including four threes) with zero rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 42 minutes.

Nelson can still be productive when given the minutes and Lawson's absence apparently does not count toward a potential suspension for his recent DUI. That means Nelson probably has 1-2 games or maybe more to return startable value to owners.

Jameer Nelson will start on Friday with Ty Lawson unavailable.

Nelson has been playing well for the Nuggets, so he could make for a nice plug-and-play option in daily leagues for those willing to roll the dice on him. Randy Foye will also likely see an uptick in minutes off the bench as Nelson's primary reserve off the bench.

Jameer Nelson will start against the Celtics on Friday.

Ty Lawson (personal) will not play tonight and he could miss more time due to his arrest. Nelson has been a favorite of coach Brian Shaw and he should be in all lineups if you have him. It's unclear how much time Lawson will miss beyond tonight, though.
Jan 23 - 7:24 PM

Jameer Nelson played well against the Warriors on Monday with 14 points, two rebounds, five assists and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

While this game was a complete blowout, garbage time doesn't really explain why Nelson had a good line. He has played very well in his three games with the Nuggets, averaging 15.0 points, 5.5 dimes, 0.5 steals and 2.0 treys in his previous two outings. If you are in dire straits for a point guard, give him a look.
Jan 19 - 7:35 PM

Jameer Nelson was productive in his Denver debut on Friday, scoring 14 points on 5-of-14 shooting (including two threes) with four rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 28 minutes off the bench.

Nelson will be strapped for minutes once Randy Foye and Danilo Gallinari get back, and in general the Nuggets are a team that could change directions on a dime via trade right now. Owners should keep an eye on him but right now his outlook doesn't justify anything but a desperation add.
Jan 17 - 1:27 AM

Jameer Nelson has passed his physical and will be available for Friday's game against the Mavericks.

This will be the second time in the past two weeks that Jameer will be facing his former team, however this time he will be donning yet another jersey. If Nelson does indeed step onto the court, he will be playing limited minutes behind Ty Lawson, and he's unlikely to offer enough statistics for use in most leagues. Leave him on the wire.
Jan 16 - 1:37 PM

Jameer Nelson will take a physical on Thursday and he's expected to be available for the Nuggets' road game on Friday.

Jameer will battle Randy Foye for minutes behind Ty Lawson, and he's not worth picking up in fantasy leagues while Lawson is healthy. The 11-year veteran is averaging only 6.8 points on 34.3 percent shooting this season.
Jan 14 - 7:45 PM

Jameer Nelson has reportedly been sent to Denver in exchange for Nate Robinson.

This will be Nelson's third team on the season, and you have to feel a little bad for a guy who initially signed on as a free agent in Dallas to be a part of a championship team, only to be sent away to two rebuilding squads. He'll be a backup point guard in Denver, and he's not going to have much fantasy value there while Ty Lawson is healthy.
Jan 13 - 6:44 PM

The Celtics could buy out Jameer Nelson's contract, according to the Boston Globe.

Nelson has spent the last five games on the inactive list, and it's clear he's not part of what the Celtics are doing now or in the future. If Nelson is bought out, he would have a host of playoff teams chasing his services, but it's unclear if the Celtics will attempt to trade him first. He has no fantasy value while he remains in limbo with Boston.
Jan 12 - 9:57 AM

Jammer Nelson will be inactive for Saturday's game against the Raptors.

It appears as though he will be a healthy scratch once again meaning Marcus Smart and Evan Turner will continue to run the point for the Celtics. Nelson can be cut in almost all leagues.
Jan 10 - 6:16 PM

Jameer Nelson and James Young will remain on the inactive list for Friday's game against the Pacers.

Neither of these guys offer enough upside to be worth owning in standard leagues, and Nelson's absence will translate to more minutes for Marcus Smart and Evan Turner.
Jan 9 - 10:58 AM

Jameer Nelson and James Young are inactive on Wednesday against the Nets.

It sounds like both guys are healthy scratches. Young played terrific in his first real chance on Monday night and will likely emerge in deep leagues at some point. Nelson is not worth owning in standard leagues.
Jan 7 - 6:02 PM

Jameer Nelson (ankle) is a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against the Nets.

He has missed the last two games with his lingering ankle issue and we should know more about his status closer to tip-off. Regardless, Nelson has been underwhelming this season for both Dallas and Boston and he is better suited on the waiver wire in most leagues. If Nelson sits, expect Evan Turner and Marcus Smart to see an uptick in minutes.
Jan 7 - 10:49 AM

Jameer Nelson said that it's been difficult to play a diminished role on the Celtics.

Nelson said he understands that younger players need to get an opportunity, but also said his new role hasn't been easy. "To be honest, it’s hard to go out there and be who I am with 14 minutes," Nelson said. "But I’m not going to complain about it. I’m not going to go to coach and tell him I need more minutes or anything like that because my job is to play the minutes he’s going to give me." Nelson may end up talking himself into more playing time, but he's not worth owning in standard fantasy leagues as the Celtics try to develop Marcus Smart.
