Jameer Nelson played 15 scoreless minutes on Wednesday, going 0-of-5 from the field with two assists and no other stats.

With the arrival of Jameer Nelson, the Pistons are juggling a crowded backcourt with starters Ish Smith and Reggie Bullock, as well as Luke Kennard, Langston Galloway and Dwight Buycks. Even if Nelson does hold off those guys for minutes, he'll eventually face the pinch of Reggie Jackson (ankle) returning.
Feb 14 - 10:01 PM

Jameer Nelson made his Pistons debut on Sunday with six points on 3-of-7 shooting, five assists and two rebounds in 19 minutes.

"[Nelson] had a good practice [Saturday] and even tonight he made some good passes," Stan Van Gundy said after the game. "The ball movement is a little better. I don’t know that we’ll stay that way, though." Nelson bumped Langston Galloway from the rotation and it's a situation to monitor in deep leagues, but most fantasy owners won't be impacted.
Feb 11 - 7:50 PM

James Ennis is out for Friday against the Clippers.

He got stuck behind in bad weather and will join the team on Saturday. Ennis is likely just going to serve as emergency depth.
Feb 9 - 5:22 PM

Jameer Nelson is available for Friday and James Ennis will meet the team in Atlanta on Saturday.

Coach Stan Van Gundy is very familiar with Nelson from their Magic days, so it's possible Nelson picks up the system very quickly. It'll be either Nelson, Langston Galloway or Dwight Buycks backing up Ish Smith, but it's too risky to use those three in fantasy leagues.
Feb 9 - 5:20 PM

Both Jameer Nelson (trade completion) and James Ennis (trade completion) are listed as questionable in the game notes for Friday's game vs. the Clippers.

The Pistons acquired both players prior to Thursday's deadline. All players involved in the deals need to complete physicals for the trades to become official. We should have an update on their status by Friday afternoon. If they are available to play, it's very unlikely they would see anything more than spot minutes, as they haven't had a chance to familiarize themselves with the team and the Pistons playbook, etc.
Feb 9 - 10:00 AM

Jameer Nelson has been traded to the Pistons in exchange for Willie Reed.

Nelson is reunited with coach Stan Van Gundy. He'll slide in as the backup PG behind Ish Smith, but he'll likely be the third-string PG once Reggie Jackson (ankle) is healthy. Langston Galloway and Dwight Buycks lose some minutes following this transaction. As part of the deal, the Pistons and Bulls will also swap second-round picks in 2022.
Feb 8 - 11:11 AM

The Bulls are planning to keep Jameer Nelson, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of

Maybe the Bulls keep him today, but they'll probably be looking to trade him for almost anything they can get. Expect for Nelson to wind up on a contender that is lacking depth at guard. He will probably want some playing time.
Feb 1 - 3:41 PM

Jameer Nelson has also been traded to the Bulls along with Tony Allen and Omer Asik.

Just like Tony Allen, the Bulls are likely going to end up waiving Nelson. He could still latch on with a contender if that happens, but there's no fantasy appeal for the time being.
Feb 1 - 1:30 PM

Jameer Nelson (personal) played 12 minutes vs. the Hawks on Wednesday, going scoreless on 0-of-4 shooting with four assists and three rebounds.

Nelson was initially ruled out for this game, but he rejoined the team in Atlanta soon enough to play. There's no reason to think he'll miss more games going forward, although his status is irrelevant in the majority of fantasy leagues. He'd only be on the radar if Rajon Rondo or E'Twaun Moore got hurt.
Jan 17 - 11:02 PM

Updating a previous item, Jameer Nelson (personal) is available to play Tuesday vs. Boston.

Nelson did not play Sunday and was initially ruled out of Tuesday's contest. However, the Pelicans announced Tuesday evening that he is now back with the team. Yet, this has only a minimal fantasy impact, as Nelson is averaging just 12.6 minutes per game in January. He should be left on waivers.
Jan 16 - 5:43 PM

Jameer Nelson (personal) will not play on Tuesday vs. Boston.

He will miss his second game in a row for personal reasons. The Pelicans used an 8-man rotation on Sunday vs. the Knicks with Jrue Holiday and E'Twaun Moore both playing 45 minutes in their overtime win, while Rajon Rondo and Ian Clark played about 25 each. Nelson only gets a handful of minutes these days and can be left on the wire.

Jan 15 - 11:15 AM

Jameer Nelson will not play on Sunday vs. the Knicks for personal reasons.

Nelson has only played 12.6 minutes per game since the start of January, so his absence doesn't mean much in fantasy. If anything, Rajon Rondo and Jrue Holiday could each pick up a few minutes.
Jan 14 - 11:18 AM

Jameer Nelson scored seven points with three rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer in 21 minutes against the Heat on Saturday.

He's been a really solid pickup and he has basically four avenues for minutes, but Nelson won't be a reliable fantasy play when the Pelicans are healthy at guard.
Sat, Dec 23, 2017 11:39:00 PM

Jameer Nelson scored five points with seven rebounds, two steals and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes agains the Bucks on Wednesday.

He was very good late in this game and he even saw some clutch minutes. The Pelicans are having some success with their smaller guards to go with their two bigs and even Rajon Rondo gave the OK to keep Nelson out there. While Nelson has helped them win games, there's little incentive to owning him in fantasy while Rondo is active.
