Jameer Nelson has reached an agreement in principle to re-sign with the Nuggets on a three-year deal.
According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the deal is worth $13.5 million total. With the drafting of Emmanuel Mudiay and the re-signing of Nelson, it sure seems like Denver is preparing itself to eventually move on from the Ty Lawson era. That may happen sooner rather than later, but Lawson's trade value is currently in the toilet. Jul 13 - 11:52 AM

Mike Malone said that Jameer Nelson will be re-signing with the Nuggets this offseason.

The Nuggets have said all along that they will make re-signing Jameer a priority, although this report is for from official. Nelson is reportedly looking to have a significant role with the team he signs, so if he does indeed return to Denver, he would really limit the upside of Emmanuel Mudiay (at least until Ty Lawson is traded). Nelson is nearing the end of his career, and won't be worth drafting in most leagues.

Re-signing Jameer Nelson is reportedly a priority for the Nuggets once free agency begins at midnight on Wednesday.

Nelson declined a player option worth $2.9 million for the 2015-16 season and he won't settle for a bit role next year. "I feel like I'm definitely more than a 15- or 18-minute guy, for sure," he said. The 33-year-old would be a great mentor for rookie PG Emmanuel Mudiay in Denver, but despite his self-confidence he's unlikely to play 25+ minutes per game.

Jameer Nelson has opted out of his contract, according to Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders.

This was the expectation in the beginning of June, and now it's all but official. Nelson is likely to move on with Denver's roster shaping a significant overhaul, and Nelson is probably hoping to land with a contender instead.
Jun 22 - 12:57 PM

Jameer Nelson is reportedly planning to opt out of his $2.85 million deal with the Nuggets in order to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Nelson has met with the Nuggets' brass, and while a final decision was not made, the discussion was centered on him opting out in order to become a free agent. Nelson would rather compete for a championship, than be a part of another rebuild, which is why he left the Magic to sign with the Mavs during last year's offseason. That move unfortunately didn't work out for Jameer, as he was jettisoned away from Dallas in the Rajon Rondo deal, and then traded by Boston a few weeks later to Denver. Hopefully he can find more stability in his next location, but it's unlikely he'll secure starting role with the team he signs with, meaning he won't be a standard league asset next year.

Jameer Nelson said that he will wait for the Nuggets to finalize their decision on their next head coach before deciding whether or not to opt in to his contract for next season.

"Whatever I decide, I'll definitely discuss with that team what my role would be," said Nelson. "I feel like I'm definitely more than a 15 or 18-minute guy, for sure." Nelson was actually surprisingly effective during his brief stint with the Nuggets this season, averaging 9.6 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 three-pointers per game through 20.6 minutes of action. Nelson spent the 2014-15 season on three different teams, and while he may feel he's deserving of more than 15 minutes per game, his numbers would suggest otherwise. He doesn't want to be a "locker room leader," but at this point in his career, that's basically what he is.

Apr 17 - 1:44 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not play against the Warriors on Wednesday.

With Ty Lawson expected to return, Erick Green figures to the backup point guard. Nelson has one more year on his deal and will be an unrestricted free agent in 2016.
Apr 15 - 3:02 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not play on Monday against the Clippers.

Erick Green will back up Ty Lawson tonight. Lawson has been logging major minutes, so Green doesn't have much value. Nelson can be dropped everywhere.
Apr 13 - 9:14 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not play vs. the Kings on Sunday.

The Nuggets didn't update his status prior to the game, so he probably isn't close to a return. With less than a week to go in the NBA season, Nelson can be cut everywhere.
Apr 12 - 5:12 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not play against the Mavs on Friday night.

He missed Wednesday night following an injury on Saturday night. Given that there's less than a week in the season, Nelson could be out for the rest of 2014-15. Erick Green will be the backup point guard and is only worth a look in deep leagues.
Apr 10 - 7:44 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game vs. the Lakers.

Nelson had a nice late-season run with the Nuggets, but with Denver playing for absolutely nothing, there's a good chance Nelson spends an extended amount of time on the sidelines until he's truly 100 percent healthy. Ty Lawson (forearm) will get all the run he can handle with Nelson unavailable, and Jameer can be dropped in all formats at this point.
Apr 7 - 4:46 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not be able to return to Saturday's game vs. the Clippers.

The injuries are piling up across the NBA, and the Nuggets have now lost both Ty Lawson and Nelson on the night. Erick Green is the last point guard standing for Denver, and he will have his hands full chasing Chris Paul around the court for the rest of the game. Nelson's hip has been a concern recently, so it's possible that he ends up missing some time. We will update his status as soon as we know more.
Apr 4 - 10:16 PM

Jameer Nelson is starting in place of Ty Lawson (forearm) on Saturday vs. the Clippers.

Lawson was a late scratch for tonight's game, but there isn't any indication that he will miss additional time. Regardless, Nelson is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues for any owner in need of points, assists and 3-pointers.
Apr 4 - 9:15 PM

Jameer Nelson hit just 1-of-8 shots for three points, two rebounds and zero assists in 20 minutes on Wednesday.

Nelson came in cooking, scoring 22 in his last game, and hitting double digits in nine straight games. None of the Nuggets guards played well tonight, and it's possible Nelson bounces back in his next one. But because he's not starting, it's hard to fully invest into what he sells.
Apr 2 - 1:28 AM

Jameer Nelson scored 22 points against the Blazers on Saturday with two rebounds, five assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

With Danilo Gallinari (rest) out, most of the Nuggets players moved up a position -- shooting guard to a small forward and so forth. That allowed Nelson to play next to Ty Lawson a little more, which has been happening more often. Nelson has scored at least 12 points in each of his last four and he's on the radar in deeper leagues.
