Jameer Nelson said that he will wait for the Nuggets to finalize their decision on their next head coach before deciding whether or not to opt in to his contract for next season.
"Whatever I decide, I'll definitely discuss with that team what my role would be," said Nelson. "I feel like I'm definitely more than a 15 or 18-minute guy, for sure." Nelson was actually surprisingly effective during his brief stint with the Nuggets this season, averaging 9.6 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 three-pointers per game through 20.6 minutes of action. Nelson spent the 2014-15 season on three different teams, and while he may feel he's deserving of more than 15 minutes per game, his numbers would suggest otherwise. He doesn't want to be a "locker room leader," but at this point in his career, that's basically what he is. Apr 17 - 1:44 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not play against the Warriors on Wednesday.

With Ty Lawson expected to return, Erick Green figures to the backup point guard. Nelson has one more year on his deal and will be an unrestricted free agent in 2016.
Apr 15 - 3:02 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not play on Monday against the Clippers.

Erick Green will back up Ty Lawson tonight. Lawson has been logging major minutes, so Green doesn't have much value. Nelson can be dropped everywhere.
Apr 13 - 9:14 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not play vs. the Kings on Sunday.

The Nuggets didn't update his status prior to the game, so he probably isn't close to a return. With less than a week to go in the NBA season, Nelson can be cut everywhere.
Apr 12 - 5:12 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not play against the Mavs on Friday night.

He missed Wednesday night following an injury on Saturday night. Given that there's less than a week in the season, Nelson could be out for the rest of 2014-15. Erick Green will be the backup point guard and is only worth a look in deep leagues.
Apr 10 - 7:44 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game vs. the Lakers.

Nelson had a nice late-season run with the Nuggets, but with Denver playing for absolutely nothing, there's a good chance Nelson spends an extended amount of time on the sidelines until he's truly 100 percent healthy. Ty Lawson (forearm) will get all the run he can handle with Nelson unavailable, and Jameer can be dropped in all formats at this point.
Apr 7 - 4:46 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will not be able to return to Saturday's game vs. the Clippers.

The injuries are piling up across the NBA, and the Nuggets have now lost both Ty Lawson and Nelson on the night. Erick Green is the last point guard standing for Denver, and he will have his hands full chasing Chris Paul around the court for the rest of the game. Nelson's hip has been a concern recently, so it's possible that he ends up missing some time. We will update his status as soon as we know more.
Apr 4 - 10:16 PM

Jameer Nelson is starting in place of Ty Lawson (forearm) on Saturday vs. the Clippers.

Lawson was a late scratch for tonight's game, but there isn't any indication that he will miss additional time. Regardless, Nelson is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues for any owner in need of points, assists and 3-pointers.
Apr 4 - 9:15 PM

Jameer Nelson hit just 1-of-8 shots for three points, two rebounds and zero assists in 20 minutes on Wednesday.

Nelson came in cooking, scoring 22 in his last game, and hitting double digits in nine straight games. None of the Nuggets guards played well tonight, and it's possible Nelson bounces back in his next one. But because he's not starting, it's hard to fully invest into what he sells.
Apr 2 - 1:28 AM

Jameer Nelson scored 22 points against the Blazers on Saturday with two rebounds, five assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

With Danilo Gallinari (rest) out, most of the Nuggets players moved up a position -- shooting guard to a small forward and so forth. That allowed Nelson to play next to Ty Lawson a little more, which has been happening more often. Nelson has scored at least 12 points in each of his last four and he's on the radar in deeper leagues.
Mar 29 - 12:29 AM

Jameer Nelson's heater continued on Friday as he hit 7-of-10 shots (including four threes) for 18 points, one rebound and three assists in just 22 minutes on Friday.

Nelson has shot a ridiculous 52.1 percent over the last 15 games and that has made him a late-round value over that span, but when he plays lately he's even better than that because he's averaging 2.8 treys per game over the last six contests. Rest and shooting regressions threaten his value nightly, but especially if you need point guard stats and threes he's well worth a look.
Mar 28 - 2:54 AM

Jameer Nelson expressed little concern when asked about the hip injury that's been bothering him lately.

Nelson only missed one game with the injury, so it doesn't sound like it's going to be a major issue moving forward. However, with the Nuggets in full rebuilding mode, it would be far from shocking to see the veteran handed out some random rest days here and there as the Nuggets close out their season. Nelson has been playing well lately, but playing in a reserve role behind Ty Lawson will really limit his value to deeper leagues.
Mar 24 - 7:04 PM

Jameer Nelson said he is thinking about picking up his option to remain in Denver for the 2015-16 season.

While Nelson wasn't committal about his end-of-season plans, he didn't rule out remaining in Denver. "I wouldn’t mind staying here," Nelson said. "I’m not ready to make that decision just yet. I’ll make that decision with my agency and my family first and foremost when the time comes." While the 33-year-old has been playing well as of late, the rebuilding Nuggets may elect to rest him over the last few weeks of the season so his fantasy value is limited to deeper leagues as long as Ty Lawson is starting.
Mar 24 - 12:56 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) returned on Sunday with 15 points, three 3-pointers, five assists and one steal in just 17 minutes of action.

Nelson's value is severely capped as long as Ty Lawson is healthy, but he's playing well and is a decent short-term option given his averages over the past six games -- 14.2 points on 53.1 percent shooting, 2.7 threes, 3.2 assists and 0.5 steals. Just be aware that Nelson may sit out as a precaution on either Friday (Mar. 27) or Saturday (Mar. 28).
Mar 22 - 8:57 PM

Jameer Nelson (hip) will play on Sunday vs. the Magic.

The team didn't update his status prior to the game, so he must not have been in any danger of missing this one. Nelson was held out of Friday's game vs. the Heat due to a minor hip issue, but it looks like he should be fine moving forward. He has averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 boards and 3.3 3-pointers in his previous four performances, so he is worth owning in most leagues.
