Jameer Nelson was terrific in his 29 minutes against the Nets on Wednesday, finishing with 14 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals and three turnovers.
Emmanuel Mudiay was benched after 18 minutes of action and posting a -26 in the plus-minus stat today. Nelson has played more minutes than Mudiay for three games in a row now, so the increased playing time is a clear trend. With the Nuggets continuing to get exposed early in games, it wouldn't be a shock to see Nelson start. He's on the radar if you need a point guard, but not getting any shooting guard minutes anymore will make it harder for him to sustain value long term. Dec 7 - 10:23 PM

Jameer Nelson played 26 minutes and hit 5-of-8 shots and three 3-pointers for 13 points, four rebounds, seven assists and a block on Saturday.

Nelson was rolling before Friday's five-point game in 19 minutes, but bounced back on Saturday. He's averaging 15.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 2.8 3-pointers on 50 percent shooting over his last five games, but with Will Barton back and balling at a high level, and Emmanuel Mudiay playing 30 minutes a night, it will be tough for Nelson to keep up this pace. Mudiay played just 22 minutes tonight, which is why Nelson was back in the picture. But Mudiay is healthy, so it would likely take an injury to him or Barton to keep Nelson relevant.
Dec 4 - 12:13 AM

Jameer Nelson scored five points with one rebound, two assists and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes against the Rockets on Friday.

The return of Will Barton should really hurt Nelson's minutes. Barton looked 100 percent and ready to take on most of the shooting guard minutes, which is noteworthy for Nelson because he was playing big minutes in two-PG combos. Nelson will have value at some point because he has multiple avenues for minutes and Emmanuel Mudiay is shaky, but Jameer is a drop candidate now.
Dec 3 - 1:44 AM

Jameer Nelson scored 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting Sunday, to go with four 3-pointers, two boards, three assists and two turnovers in 28 minutes.

Nelson looks like a starter until further notice with Will Barton (ankle) and Gary Harris (foot) ailing, and this was his second productive game in a row (he posted a 21-point, 13-dime double-double on Friday). Nelson could be worth a speculative add in deep leagues for owners seeking some production in triples and assists, but just know that the 34-year-old veteran can fall off at a moment's notice.
Nov 27 - 6:33 PM

Jameer Nelson started vs. the Thunder on Friday and had 21 points, a season-high 13 assists, four rebounds and three 3-pointers in 41 minutes.

Denver was playing without Gary Harris (foot) or Will Barton (personal/ankle), which thrust Nelson back into the starting five. Barton is questionable to return for Sunday's game, and his availability will determine whether Nelson (who closed out the game at PG ahead of Emmanuel Mudiay) has more short-term fantasy appeal. Keep an eye on the injury report.
Nov 26 - 12:11 AM

Jameer Nelson will start at shooting guard over Jamal Murray on Friday.

Coach Mike Malone will stick with his familiar backcourt rotation. Murray is playing lights out right now, so he's the preferred option in both season long and for DFS. Nelson is worth a look in deeper formats while Will Barton (ankle) is out.
Nov 25 - 7:32 PM

Jameer Nelson shifted to a reserve role vs. Utah on Sunday, posting two points, three boards and three assists in 21 minutes.

Nelson was starting at SG out of necessity with Gary Harris (foot) and Will Barton (ankle) both unavailable, but he was bumped to the bench with Barton returning tonight. If you picked him up for short-term guard help, now is the time to cut him loose.
Nov 21 - 12:37 AM

Jameer Nelson played 37 minutes against the Raptors on Friday with five points, three rebounds and five assists.

He didn't score until there were 20.6 seconds left in regulation, but Nelson played a fine game. His minutes will drop once the Nuggets get Will Barton (ankle) back, but he's a sneaky low-end point guard until then.
Nov 19 - 1:51 AM

Jameer Nelson scored a season-high 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting during Wednesday's home victory, adding two assists with one rebound and one 3-pointer.

Gary Harris (foot) is likely out until mid-December, and Will Barton (ankle) had a setback on Tuesday, so there's a good chance Nelson will continue to start for Denver. His competition is rookie Jamal Murray, who came off the bench on Wednesday for nine points in 20 minutes.
Nov 17 - 12:41 AM

Jameer Nelson will start again on Wednesday against the Suns.

He played 33 minutes in the start on Sunday and should be looking at big minutes again tonight. Nelson should have some short-term value in deeper leagues and is worth a look as a DFS punt.
Nov 16 - 8:17 PM

Jameer Nelson started for the short-handed Nuggets on Sunday and had seven points, four boards, one steal and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes of action.

Gary Harris (right ankle) wasn't available and coach Mike Malone hasn't been thrilled with Jamal Murray's efforts as a fill-in starter, so he tapped his veteran guard tonight. Harris could return as soon as Wednesday, however, so there's no reason to target Nelson for short-term value.
Nov 14 - 12:38 AM

Jameer Nelson played 36 minutes off the bench on Sunday, finishing with nine points, seven assists, three rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Mike Malone had nothing but praise for his veteran PG prior to the game. "I think he’s been fantastic, there’s some games we don’t win without Jameer," he said. "He’s about the right things." Nelson and Wilson Chandler (22 points) were both terrific in expanded bench roles tonight, but it's hard to trust Nelson for standard-league purposes -- this is just the second time this season he's exceeded 24 minutes in a game.
Nov 6 - 11:18 PM

Jameer Nelson played 34 minutes off the bench against the Wolves on Thursday with 14 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and two 3-pointers.

With the top two options at shooting guard out tonight, Nelson picked up 19 minutes next to Emmanuel Mudiay. Harris could be back this weekend, so Nelson isn't a great pickup unless you're desperate for a point guard.
Nov 4 - 12:56 AM

Jameer Nelson, Will Barton, Danilo Gallinari, Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic will start against the Mavs on Friday.

It would appear the Nuggets will indeed go Jokic-Nurkic in the first unit. Plus, coach Mike Malone likes Jamal Murray off the bench and Will Barton to start should Gary Harris (groin) not be ready.
Oct 21 - 8:42 PM

Jameer Nelson, Will Barton, Danilo Gallinari, Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic are starting Tuesday.

To recap, Emmanuel Mudiay (ankle), Gary Harris (groin), Darrell Arthur (knee) and Wilson Chandler (rest) have all been ruled out. The big takeaway here is that Jokic and Nurkic are still starting together and it should remain that way for the season opener.
