Jameer Nelson scored 12 points with four rebounds, six assists, five steal and two 3-pointers in 29 minutes during his start against the Kings on Thursday.
He kept the Nuggets in this game and looks like he has the starting job locked up. Emmanuel Mudiay did not play in this game and Jamal Murray had a game to forget. Nelson not being traded is huge for his value, so he should be owned in standard leagues. He should get heavy run as long as the Nuggets are going for the No. 8 spot. Feb 24 - 1:24 AM

Coach Mike Malone said Jameer Nelson will be the starting point guard going forward.

With the Nuggets going for the eighth seed, this move makes a lot of sense. Since taking over as the starter last month due to some injuries to Mudiay, Nelson has gone 7-7, averaging 11.0 points, 3.5 boards, 6.3 assists, 1.6 turnovers, 1.7 treys and 0.5 steals in 30.7 minutes per game. That has given him low-end value in standard leagues and is also a fair expectation going forward. Plus, he's been hot lately, so he should be owned in most formats.
Feb 22 - 3:01 PM

Denver followed up Monday's upset win vs. the Warriors with a loss to the Wolves, despite getting 16 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds from starting PG Jameer Nelson.

Nelson made 7-of-15 shots with one 3-pointer and he's been very good in the absence of Emmanuel Mudiay (back). Mudiay has extra time to heal during the break, but even if he's healthy Nelson has enough juice to be worth a look in standard leagues.
Feb 15 - 11:47 PM

Jameer Nelson hit 9-of-14 shots and five 3-pointers for 23 points, three rebounds and seven assists in 34 minutes of Monday's blowout 132-110 win over the Warriors.

Emmanuel Mudiay (back) might be out through the break, while the Nuggets are making a run at the No. 8 seed in the West, which means Nelson could keep the starting job until further notice. Nelson is averaging 17 points, 9.0 assists and 3.7 3-pointers over his last three games, and is worth using in all formats until we see what happens with Mudiay.
Feb 14 - 12:14 AM

Jameer Nelson scored 12 points with eight rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two 3-pointers against the Cavs on Saturday.

He's coming off a 16-point, 12-dime game from Friday and clearly has earned minutes while Emmanuel Mudiay (back) is out. Perhaps Nelson also has earned more minutes even when Mudiay does come back because the Nuggets are right in the mix for the No. 8 seed. If you want to ride Nelson until Mudiay comes back or even want to see how it plays out, it's not a bad idea. Nelson has some upside.
Feb 11 - 10:15 PM

Jameer Nelson scored 16 points with four rebounds, 12 assists and four 3-pointers in 36 minutes against the Knicks on Friday.

That's his second double-double of the season in this win. Emmanuel Mudiay (back) didn't sound too optimistic about returning to action on Saturday, so Nelson should have another chance at a productive game. If you need a point guard to tide you over until the break, Nelson could be your guy.
Feb 10 - 10:16 PM

Jameer Nelson started for Emmanuel Mudiay (back) and played 33 minutes, but hit just 1-of-6 shots for two points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in Monday's 110-87 win over the Mavericks.

Ouch. Nelson has had some very good games filling in for Mudiay this season, but this wasn't one of them. Mudiay is just day-to-day and Nelson's not worth using when Mudiay is playing. And given Nelson's five-game averages of 5.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 28 percent shooting, he's really not a great idea to use when Mudiay is sitting these days.
Feb 6 - 11:54 PM

Jameer Nelson scored six points in a start against the Bucks on Friday, adding two rebounds, four assists and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes.

Emmanuel Mudiay was still limited in this game, so that explains the start and minutes. On top of that, the offense goes through Nikola Jokic, so there just isn't much to like about the Denver point guard situation with both guys active.
Feb 4 - 2:20 AM

Jameer Nelson, Gary Harris, Wilson Chandler, Kenneth Faired and Nikola Jokic will start against the Bucks on Friday.

The Nuggets will likely lower Emmanuel Mudiay's minutes again, so Jameer should be in the upper 20s. He's losing his short-term appeal now that the Nuggets are somewhat healthy besides Danilo Gallinari.
Feb 3 - 8:35 PM

Jameer Nelson was ejected for two technical fouls in the first quarter against the Grizzlies.

He argued a hand-check call and received a second tech for arguing too much. There's no reason to think he'll be suspended here, but anyone who started him tonight is stuck with just one rebound and two assists. With Emmanuel Mudiay (back) limited, Jamal Murray should get some added run as a ball handler tonight. Nelson loses a lot of value with Mudiay back.
Feb 1 - 9:22 PM

Jameer Nelson will start Wednesday's game vs. the Grizzlies.

Emmanuel Mudiay (back) is returning tonight, but he'll be limited to 20 minutes of action. Nelson has been solid lately and he's at least worth deploying until Mudiay's minutes start to ramp up.
Feb 1 - 7:27 PM

Jameer Nelson scored 17 points on 4-of-9 shooting in Saturday's win over the Suns.

Emmanuel Mudiay (back) missed his fourth straight game and has already been ruled out for Tuesday's game vs. the Lakers, so Nelson is going to see at least one more start. He added six assists, three boards, one steal, two treys and two turnovers, and he also logged some minutes next to Jamal Murray which was encouraging. He's worth streaming in most leagues until Mudiay comes back.
Jan 28 - 11:44 PM

Jameer Nelson is a possible target for the Cavs in a trade, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

It's no secret LeBron James wants another ball handler out there with his team. Nelson is under contract for next season as well, so he likely wouldn't be cheap in a trade. The 34-year-old guard is playing well this season and is outplaying franchise point guard Emmanuel Mudiay (back). As for Nelson tonight, he is a very nice DFS or stream target, and should be worth using in standard leagues until Mudiay is back.

Jan 28 - 3:25 PM

Jameer Nelson scored 13 points in 42 minutes during a 127-120 win over the Suns on Thursday, adding four rebounds, nine assists, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer.

It was somewhat surprising to see Jamal Murray get 37 minutes combined in the previous two, but it was all Nelson today in a great game. On top of this gem, he could be getting more playmaking chances with Nikola Jokic (hip) banged up. In the last 15 games, Nelson gets a bump in assist percentage and usage rate when he's not next to Jokic. He should have value until Emmanuel Mudiay (back) returns.
Jan 27 - 1:46 AM

Jameer Nelson hit 6-of-8 shots, 3-of-4 3-pointers and 2-of-2 free throws for 17 points, and seven assists in 31 minutes in a start for Emmanuel Mudiay (back) on Tuesday.

Nelson had just nine points on Sunday and had failed to score in double digits in four straight games before getting hot tonight, when he came through with seven points in the fourth quarter. Mudiay remains day-to-day and it's possible Nelson could get another start, but even if it happens, you might as well flip a coin to try to figure out if he'll be a stud or a dud.
