Jameer Nelson had nine points, one 3-pointer, four rebounds, 11 assists and four steals in his first start for the Celtics on Tuesday, while turning the ball over once in 30 minutes.
Celts coach Brad Stevens is experimenting with his lineups in the wake of the Rajon Rondo trade, but it's hard to imagine Nelson holding off rookie Marcus Smart long-term. Nelson's poor shooting (37.4 percent) is a red flag in most fantasy formats, though he could be a reliable source of 3-pointers and assists if given enough minutes. Most owners should take a wait-and-see approach. Dec 23 - 10:06 PM

Jameer Nelson will start for Tuesday's game vs. Orlando, sending Marcus Smart to the bench.

"We're gonna start Jameer [at PG]. Everyone else is the same," said head coach Brad Stevens. "It's about the rotations I want to try." Nelson has been pretty awful this season, hitting career-lows in points (7.3) and field goal percentage (37.4), so he's not going to be a great play in daily leagues despite the starting label. Stevens is going to be experimenting with his lineups for the coming weeks, but at some point one has to think developing Marcus Smart will become a priority, so he should remain owned in all leagues.
Dec 23 - 5:37 PM

Jameer Nelson came off the Celtics' bench on Sunday for three points (1-of-6 shooting), one 3-pointer, two rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Nelson also turned the ball over twice in 20 minutes. The Celtics' rotations are still a work in progress after the momentous Rondo trade, but thus far Nelson seems destined for a veteran backup/mentor role in Boston. Fantasy owners should look elsewhere for rest-of-season upside.
Dec 21 - 9:17 PM

Jameer Nelson will be active for Sunday's outing against Miami.

He was terrible for Dallas, and with the Celtics rebuilding there is not a lot to love here. The Celtics are enamored with rookie point guard Marcus Smart, and are going to give him every chance to succeed. Nelson can be cut in most leagues while Smart is now a must-own option for his upside.

Jameer Nelson will not be active for Friday's game vs. the Timberwolves.

With Marcus Smart (Achilles) being listed as questionable, there's a chance that Evan Turner will draw the start in a favorable matchup vs. the Wolves. Turner has averaged 16.0 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds through two games with the starting unit this season, so he could work as a plug-and-play option in daily leagues. Stay tuned.
Dec 19 - 1:38 PM

Jameer Nelson, Jae Crowder, and Brandan Wright did not arrive in time for shootaround, and their status for Friday's game vs. Minnesota is uncertain.

With Marcus Smart (Achilles) being listed as questionable, and Jameer's status uncertain, Evan Turner could draw the start on Friday in a favorable matchup vs. the Timberwolves. Jae Crowder would likely play sparingly behind Jeff Green if available, so his status shouldn't matter in most leagues, while Brandan Wright's spot in the rotation is not clear at this point. Stay tuned for an official update closer to tip-off.

Jameer Nelson has been traded to the Celtics.

He is having an awful year with the Mavericks and perhaps his zero-point game is what forced the team's hand to make a deal. Simply put, this might be the worst year of his career. He has a career low in assist percentage, usage rate, field goal percentage and points while just being roasted on the defensive end. Nelson is not part Boston's future, so there is little reason to add him.
Dec 18 - 6:18 PM

Jameer Nelson started and played 26 minutes, but missed all four of his shots and finished with zero points and zero assists in a win over the Pistons.

Devin Harris had eight points, nine assists and two 3-pointers off the bench, and is clearly the better play right now. This could all be a moot point soon though, as ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the Mavs are in serious discussions with the Celtics in a deal that would send Rajon Rondo to Dallas for a package that would include C Brandan Wright. And if you think Nelson's hideous play this season has Mark Cuban trying to work out a deal for Rondo, you're probably right.
Dec 17 - 11:28 PM

Jameer Nelson played 28 minutes in his return to the lineup on Saturday against the Warriors, making 2-of-7 from the field for six points with four rebounds, five assists and one steal.

He had some Kinesio tape on his shooting shoulder and maybe that was a factor today. Nelson is making just 38.1 percent from the from the field on the season while not doing much else, so he's not a fantasy option right now.
Dec 13 - 4:43 PM

Jameer Nelson (shoulder) will play in Saturday's game vs. the Warriors.

He doesn't have a favorable matchup considering he will have to go up against arguably the best point guard in the league, Stephen Curry, so owners should probably look elsewhere for production. Devin Harris and J.J. Barea's value takes a hit with this news.
Dec 13 - 1:02 PM

Jameer Nelson (shoulder) will be a game-time decision for Saturdays' game vs. the Warriors.

Coach Rick Carlisle said he was more optimistic about Nelson playing than he was about Chandler Parsons (back), so it will be interesting to see if he will give it a go. Nelson isn't a reliable option due to Dallas' crowded backcourt, but Devin Harris would be worth a plug-and-play if Nelson sits while J.J. Barea will also get more minutes. Stay tuned.

Jameer Nelson (shoulder) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Warriors.

He has already missed Wednesday's game, and it wouldn't be a bad idea for Dallas to rest the veteran until he gets healthy. Nelson has battled a variety of ailments this season, and he has really struggled with the first unit this season. If he sits, expect Devin Harris to draw the start while J.J. Barea would also get more run. Harris is worth a look for short-term value or as a daily plug-and-play.
Dec 13 - 9:59 AM

Jameer Nelson (shoulder) is questionable to face the Warriors on Saturday.

He did not play on Wednesday and he certainly has a chance to miss this one. Devin Harris stepped up off the bench and is worth a look for short-term value. Nelson is not worth owning in most leagues right now.
Dec 12 - 2:06 PM

Jameer Nelson will not play against the Pelicans on Wednesday due to a right shoulder injury.

The injuries are really piling up for Jameer and the severity is not yet known. Nelson could miss more time and wasn't great to begin for his patient fantasy owners, so there's little incentive to keep him despite a big game on Tuesday. Devin Harris is worth a look tonight.
Dec 10 - 7:18 PM

Jameer Nelson finished Tuesday's road loss with a season-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, with four 3-pointers, four rebounds, four assists and three turnovers.

Nelson tied his previous season high (13 points) in the first seven minutes of the game before cooling off, and it's hard to expect a repeat performance while his playing time is stuck in the mid-20s. He'll need to post a few more solid lines before garnering attention in typical leagues.
