Jameer Nelson struggled in a start against the Bucks on Friday, making 2-of-10 from the field for seven points with four rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.
Ty Lawson was punished for missing practice and did not play, but it shouldn't continue. Nelson will likely move back to the bench on Sunday against Russell Westbrook and Co. Of course, coach Brian Shaw isn't exactly the most predictable guy in the NBA. Feb 21 - 2:54 AM

Jameer Nelson is starting in place of Ty Lawson on Fridya against the Bucks.

One would think the Nuggets wouldn't completely bench Lawson here, so Nelson's playing time is unclear. Fantasy owners should only consider using him if they're desperate. Hopefully we'll get an update here soon.
Feb 20 - 7:49 PM

The Cavaliers have expressed interest in acquiring veteran point guard Jameer Nelson.

Nelson would be an upgrade over their current backup point guard Matthew Dellavedova, but he wouldn't have any fantasy value in standard leagues playing as a reserve for the Cavs. Cleveland would also be wise to invest in another big man rather than bringing on yet another guard, and it needs to be said that nothing is imminent at this juncture.

The Wizards and Heat have reportedly reached out to the Nuggets on the availability of Jameer Nelson.

Nelson wasn't able to put up standard league value as a starter for the Mavericks earlier in the season, and he's not putting up standard league value now as a backup point guard for the Nuggets. He may be able to put up some low-end value in very deep leagues as a member of the Heat, but for now, there's no reason to own Jameer in most leagues.
Feb 12 - 5:25 PM

Jameer Nelson (Achilles) will not play against the Thunder on Monday.

This will be his third game out of the lineup and the Nuggets might just hold him out until the All-Star break. We're still waiting to hear news on Erick Green, and if Green can't go Ty Lawson won't have a backup point guard behind him. It would likely be Randy Foye shifting to PG, though.
Feb 9 - 8:04 PM

Jameer Nelson (Achilles) was a full participant during Sunday's practice, but he remains questionable for Monday's game against OKC.

It sounds like Nelson is getting close to a return, but if he's again unable to go on Monday, Ty Lawson is going to get all the run he can handle. Nelson is averaging just 9.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 1.4 three-pointers per game with the Nuggets, so he can't be viewed as an option in standard leagues even if he is able to go.
Feb 8 - 3:18 PM

Jameer Nelson (Achilles) has been ruled out for Friday's game vs. the Pistons.

This will be his second straight game on the sidelines, and the Nuggets will likely be cautious with the veteran point guard in what has been a lost season. Ty Lawson played 43 minutes on Wednesday because of Nelson's absence, so Lawson deserves a long look for owners in daily leagues. We will pass along any additional updates on Nelson when we hear more, but it's safe to drop him outside of deeper leagues.
Feb 6 - 9:32 AM

Jameer Nelson (strained Achilles) will be in uniform for Wednesday's game but he's not expected to play.

Nelson is coming off a solid 20-minute performance on Tuesday and there was no warning of an injury, leaving deep-league owners to scramble for a replacement. Randy Foye and Arron Afflalo may handle the ball more but Denver doesn't have many options behind Ty Lawson, who should play all the minutes he can handle vs. the Celtics.
Feb 4 - 6:23 PM

Jameer Nelson provided a rare bright spot for the Nuggets on Tuesday, coming off the bench for 10 points, two 3-pointers, three rebounds, four assists and four steals in just 20 minutes.

Nelson has bounced around the NBA this season, part of the reason he's posting career-lows in True Shooting (47.1 percent) and PER (10.1), among other advanced metrics. The veteran PG has performed admirably since being traded to the Nuggets, but he's still not a reliable option in standard leagues while minute-hog Ty Lawson is healthy.
Feb 3 - 10:20 PM

Jameer Nelson played just 13 minutes on Monday, scoring two points with two steals and two assists.

Nelson had been hanging by a thread in most regular sized leagues and this is probably your sign to move on. If Ty Lawson falters at any point due to injury or a minimal suspension, be ready to move quickly on him because he'll probably be worth owning.
Jan 27 - 1:00 AM

Jameer Nelson was predictably quiet with Ty Lawson back in action on Sunday, coming off the bench for nine points, four assists and one steal in 14 minutes.

It was actually a nice game for Nelson, who went 3-of-4 behind the arc, but a backup role behind minute-hog Lawson isn't a recipe for long-term success. Deep-league owners may find Nelson useful, but everyone else should be able to find better free agents.
Jan 25 - 10:58 PM

Jameer Nelson started for Ty Lawson in Friday's loss to the Celtics, scoring 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting (including four threes) with zero rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 42 minutes.

Nelson can still be productive when given the minutes and Lawson's absence apparently does not count toward a potential suspension for his recent DUI. That means Nelson probably has 1-2 games or maybe more to return startable value to owners.
Jan 24 - 4:46 AM

Jameer Nelson will start on Friday with Ty Lawson unavailable.

Nelson has been playing well for the Nuggets, so he could make for a nice plug-and-play option in daily leagues for those willing to roll the dice on him. Randy Foye will also likely see an uptick in minutes off the bench as Nelson's primary reserve off the bench.
Jan 23 - 7:26 PM

Jameer Nelson will start against the Celtics on Friday.

Ty Lawson (personal) will not play tonight and he could miss more time due to his arrest. Nelson has been a favorite of coach Brian Shaw and he should be in all lineups if you have him. It's unclear how much time Lawson will miss beyond tonight, though.
Jan 23 - 7:24 PM

Jameer Nelson played well against the Warriors on Monday with 14 points, two rebounds, five assists and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

While this game was a complete blowout, garbage time doesn't really explain why Nelson had a good line. He has played very well in his three games with the Nuggets, averaging 15.0 points, 5.5 dimes, 0.5 steals and 2.0 treys in his previous two outings. If you are in dire straits for a point guard, give him a look.
