The Grizzlies have officially picked up Beno Udrih's $2.2 million option for the 2015-16 season.
Udrih, who turns 33 on Sunday, gives Memphis an affordable and reliable backup for starter Mike Conley. He had right ankle surgery in early June but is expected to be fully recovered in time for training camp. He's not on the fantasy radar and will be even less appealing if the Grizzlies bring back Nick Calathes. Jul 5 - 2:32 PM

Beno Udrih had successful surgery on his ankle on Thursday.

There are still no details on what type of procedure he had, but he should be ready to go for training camp. Udrih was solid for the Grizzlies when Mike Conley was dealing with injuries, but his ankle clearly limited him in the playoffs. Udrih should be penciled in as the backup point guard next season, but he won't be a target in standard leagues. We will update his status once an official timetable for his return is confirmed.

Jun 6 - 9:30 AM

Beno Udrih is set to undergo ankle surgery on Thursday.

We still don't have the specifics on the procedure he will have, but it would be surprising if he were not ready to go for the start of the 2015-16 season. Udrih averaged 7.7 points and 2.8 assists per game on 48.7 percent shooting this year, so he's really only someone to target in daily leagues when Mike Conley is out of the lineup. We'll likely have an official timetable on Udrih's recovery within the next few days.
Jun 4 - 3:33 PM

Beno Udrih will undergo ankle surgery and will not play with the Slovenian national team at Eurobasket this summer.

We don't have a lot of details right now, but it is likely a minor procedure. Udrih played through an ankle issue during the playoffs, but the fact that he won't play with the Slovenian national team means that he will have plenty of time to recover. As always, we will track his progress closely and will update his status once more is known.

May 27 - 10:23 AM

Beno Udrih (ankle) will play in Game 1 vs. the Warriors on Sunday.

Udrih will have some increased opportunity for minutes with Mike Conley (face) unavailable, however, he'll have a tough matchup against the Warriors so he's not that great of a daily league option.
May 3 - 2:25 PM

Beno Udrih returned to action on Monday with 13 points, three assists and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes against the Blazers.

He looked good on offense and split the playing time right now the middle. Udrih arrived to the arena in a walking boot, but he still seemed fine and was doing more than just catch-and-shoot stuff. Udrih should feel a little better for Game 5 on Wednesday. Although, Nick Calathes was no slouch either, so the pair will likely split the playing time again.
Apr 28 - 1:13 AM

Beno Udrih (ankle) will play against the Blazers on Monday.

He went through shootaround and there's been no indication he'll be limited. Udrih will likely see around 26-32 minutes tonight while Nick Calathes backs him up. Udrih is a decent option in fantasy leagues.
Apr 27 - 9:53 PM

Beno Udrih (ankle) said that he will play in Game 4 against the Blazers on Monday.

Udrih sat out on Saturday, but with Mike Conley (face) going down, Memphis really needs all they can get from Udrih. He'll likely start with Conley unavailable, so he'll be someone to consider as a low-end, plug-and-play option in daily leagues.
Apr 26 - 5:23 PM

Beno Udrih (ankle) will not play against the Blazers on Saturday.

He tried to warm up, but never really had much of a chance to play. Udrih will likely be ready for Game 4 while Nick Calathes will be the backup to Mike Conley tonight.
Apr 25 - 9:50 PM

Beno Udrih (ankle) is warming up for Saturday, but is still not expected to play.

He's likely just going to see if he's suddenly feeling a lot better. Udrih said earlier today that he's likely just going to rest up for Game 4. We'll have an update soon.
Apr 25 - 9:38 PM

Beno Udrih (ankle) is unlikely to play against the Blazers on Saturday night.

He didn't even try to warm up and said he'd rather sit out tonight to get ready for Game 4. Udrih also said playing in Game 2 set him back. Nick Calathes will be the backup point guard tonight.
Apr 25 - 9:24 PM

Beno Udrih returned to action after leaving with an ankle injury on Wednesday and finished with 10 points, one rebound and one assist on 4-of-9 shooting.

Udrih caught fire in Game 1 and torched the Blazers for 20 points and a full stat line on 9-of-14 shooting, but it was a different story tonight. Courtney Lee, Tony Allen and Mike Conley all played reasonably well, so Udrih just wasn't able to get into a groove. The ankle injury didn't help his cause, but it looks like he avoided a serious injury. He'll probably have another big game at some point in the playoffs, but trying to figure out when it will happen, as long as the aforementioned teammates are healthy, will be next to impossible.
Apr 22 - 11:04 PM

Beno Udrih went to the locker room in the second quarter on Wednesday.

He hobbled back to the locker room under is own power with what looked like an ankle sprain. He could be getting it re-taped or he could be out. If he is out, Nick Calathes will be the second string point guard.
Apr 22 - 8:50 PM

Beno Udrih caught fire vs. the Blazers, making his first six shots to finish with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting, one 3-pointer, seven rebounds and seven assists in only 24 minutes of action.

The Grizzlies roared out to a 19 point lead at halftime and never looked back, aided by Udrih's huge night -- he's the first bench player since Nick Van Exel in 2003 to notch at least 20 points, seven boards and seven assists in a playoff game. A superior regular-season record gave Memphis home-court advantage despite being the No. 5 seed vs. the No. 4 seed Blazers, and they could take a commanding 2-0 series lead if they win again at the FedEx Forum on Wednesday.
Apr 19 - 10:52 PM

Beno Udrih drew the start against the Clippers on Saturday with 14 points, two rebounds, three assists, one steal and four turnovers.

Mike Conley (foot) was very close to playing tonight, so he has a good chance to be ready for Monday against the Warriors. The Grizzlies, Clippers and Spurs are all sitting at 54-26 with the Rockets just 0.5 games behind them, so Memphis will want Conley to play ASAP. Udrih should be on the wire for now.
