Beno Udrih returned from an illness on Wednesday against the Rockets with four points in 15 minutes.
As long as Mike Conley is active, Udrih is not going to have much value in fantasy leagues. Plus, Nick Calathes is playing good ball right now, too. Leave him on the wire. Mar 4 - 11:21 PM

Date:

Beno Udrih (illness) is available to play vs. the Rockets on Wednesday.

Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger isn't sure how many minutes Udrih will play, as he's not yet 100 percent recovered. Mike Conley and Nick Calathes will absorb extra playing time if Udrih is limited in a tough matchup vs. the third-seed Rockets.
Mar 4 - 6:42 PM

Beno Udrih (illness) is questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Rockets.

He is averaging just 18.2 minutes per game this season in a backup role behind Mike Conley, so owners in most leagues can ignore this news. Rookie Jordan Adams took most of Udrih's minutes against the Jazz on Tuesday, and he would have another chance to impress head coach Dave Joerger should Udrih sit this one out.
Mar 4 - 12:10 PM

Updating a previous report, Beno Udrih (illness) will not suit up for Tuesday's game vs. Utah.

Nick Calathes will have the opportunity for some additional playing time tonight, but with averages of just 4.0 points and 2.5 assists on the season, he can't be viewed as a viable option in most leagues.
Mar 3 - 6:40 PM

Beno Udrih (illness) is questionable for Tuesday's game vs. the Jazz.

If Udrih is unable to go on Tuesday, Nick Calathes will pick up most of his reserve minutes, but that doesn't mean much. As long as Mike Conley is healthy, the backup point guards in Memphis won't be worth using in most leagues.
Mar 3 - 6:26 PM

Beno Udrih was able to play through a sore right calf on Wednesday against the Jazz, finishing with seven points, two assists, one board, two steals and one 3-pointer in 18 minutes.

He was originally questionable for Wednesday's game, so it's great to see that the injury didn't cause him to miss any action. His role will continue to be limited as long as Mike Conley is healthy, so there's no reason to hold onto Udrih outside of deeper league for now.
Feb 5 - 2:20 PM

Beno Udrih (right calf) is questionable to play against the Jazz on Wednesday.

This is a new injury for Udrih and he likely sustained it on Monday. If he doesn't play, there should be more minutes going Nick Calathes way tonight. Udrih is not worth owning while Mike Conley is active.
Feb 4 - 5:44 PM

Beno Udrih played 23 minutes against the Nuggets on Thursday with 11 points, two rebounds, three assists and one 3-pointer.

Thanks to the Grizzlies blowing teams out, Udrih hasn't put up great numbers in his last two starts. It's nice to see the Grizzlies play well without Mike Conley and they might be a little more cautious in putting him back in the lineup. Still, Udrih's fantasy value has a short shelf life.
Jan 29 - 11:58 PM

Beno Udrih started Tuesday's game in place of Mike Conley (wrist), scoring eight points on 4-of-6 shooting with two rebounds, five assists and two turnovers in 21 minutes.

Conley is day-to-day and Udrih's quiet line on Tuesday should be enough to scare away nearly all fantasy owners. He's shooting an impressive 51.0 percent this season but isn't doing enough to aid standard-league owners in 19 minutes per game.
Jan 27 - 11:12 PM

Beno Udrih (right knee contusion) is probable for Saturday's game against the 76ers.

Udrih filled in nicely for Mike Conley while he was out over the weekend, but played just 17 minutes off the bench on Monday. While he's worth a look on night's when Conley doesn't play, Udrih doesn't belong on fantasy rosters outside of deep leagues.
Jan 22 - 1:24 PM

Beno Udrih played 17 minutes off the bench against the Mavs on Monday with four points and one assist.

He had a couple nice games with Mike Conley out over the weekend, but he moved back into a bench role. Conley is one of the best point guards in the NBA and Udrih doesn't have the skill set to take minutes away from him. He's worth a look on the nights Conley misses action, though.
Jan 19 - 8:16 PM

Beno Udrih made all seven attempts from the field for 17 points with seven rebounds, three assists, one block and three 3-pointers in 29 minutes against the Blazers.

The Grizzlies didn't miss Mike Conley (ankles) at all in their last two games with two wins. Udrih had 15 points on Friday and wasn't horrible on defense tonight either. Conley should be back soon, so there's little incentive to adding Udrih right now.
Jan 18 - 1:38 AM

Beno Udrih started for injured Mike Conley (ankle) on Friday against the Magic, scoring 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting (including a three) with one rebound, five assists and one block in 29 minutes.

If Conley misses more time then Udrih will be worth a look as a spot-starter and that's about it. Nick Calathes added two points, two rebounds, six assists and a steal in 19 minutes off the bench in the win.
Jan 16 - 11:31 PM

Beno Udrih will start against the Magic on Friday.

Coach Dave Joerger loves Nick Calathes, but he'll go with the veteran tonight. The two guys will take most of the minutes and will likely have close to a 50/50 split, but Udrih's ceiling in assist makes him a more desirable play. Calathes is still an option, though.
Jan 16 - 6:06 PM

Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger might start playing multiple point guards to jumpstart his team's struggling offense.

"We have to get another playmaker on the floor," Joerger said after Wednesday's game, during which he briefly played three point guards at the same time. "We’ve got to be able to get inside of defenses." Memphis is also seeking a trade to upgrade their SF position, as the wing tandem of Courtney Lee and Tony Allen has been a weakness offensively. Joerger's dissatisfaction doesn't have big fantasy implications unless a trade goes down, though Beno Udrih and Nick Calathes may see a few more minutes off the bench.
