Trevor Ariza (knee) has ruled himself out for the final two games of the 2012-13 season.
Ariza is battling mysterious knee soreness and it makes no sense for him to risk further injury during meaningless games, so this isn't unexpected. With Martell Webster also done for the season, Garrett Temple and A.J. Price will play heavy minutes this week. Apr 14 - 12:43 PM

Date:

Trevor Ariza (knee) will not play in Friday's game against the Sixers, as expected.

It's Ariza's third straight game out. With Martell Webster also on the sidelines, Garrett Temple and A.J. Price are going to see plenty of burn.
Apr 12 - 5:46 PM

Trevor Ariza (knee) is not expected to play on Friday.

Randy Wittman said "probably not" when asked if Ariza would play, which makes sense considering he still has knee soreness and can't find the cause. With Martell Webster (abdomen) also dinged up, Chris Singleton and Cartier Martin are in line for extended run.

Trevor Ariza (sore knee) will not play Wednesday night.

Ariza is dealing with a very painful knee injury and apparently has been dealing with it for weeks. Ariza was scheduled to meet with team doctors Wednesday and said he hopes to find a way to play the rest of this season. We're not certain what the timetable is for his return, but hopefully we'll get some more information Thursday. Martell Webster will get major minutes tonight.
Apr 10 - 6:30 PM

Trevor Ariza is hopeful of finding some way to strengthen his sore knee and allow him to finish out the season.

Ariza admitted Wednesday the knee, which has been bothering him for weeks, "hurts pretty bad." Ariza was scheduled to meet with team doctors Wednesday to figure out the root cause of the soreness and it's possible they might recommend shutting him down regardless of how much Ariza wants to play. If Ariza gets benched for the rest of the season, Martell Webster would be in line to play major minutes the rest of the way.
Apr 10 - 5:05 PM

Trevor Ariza will meet with Wizards doctors on Wednesday to determine the root of soreness in his knee.

Ariza's knee has apparently been bothering him for "weeks," but it worsened during Washington's game against the Celtics on Sunday and then admitted that his knee is "bothering me a little bit." "It was just sore. Kind of sore. Hurts pretty bad." It wouldn't be a surprise if Ariza shut it down for the season, and if that happens, Martell Webster would have a clear path to major minutes at small forward.
Apr 10 - 9:02 AM

Trevor Ariza missed Tuesday's game with left knee soreness.

He was a game-time decision and wasn't able to go, which should mean good things for Martell Webster. This update wasn't passed along until well after the game had started.
Apr 9 - 8:15 PM

Trevor Ariza (knee, ankle) is listed as a game-time call for Tuesday's game against the Knicks.

Even if Ariza does suit up, he'll be a weak fantasy play at less than 100 percent. The Wizards are starting Garrett Temple and Martell Webster on the wings once again.
Apr 9 - 6:39 PM

Trevor Ariza is not planning to opt out of his contract after the season.

Ariza, who is slated to earn $7.7 million next season, would not be able to command that salary in free agency and he knows it. "I don't know many people who are going to leave money on the table and I'm not one of the people who do that, so most likely," he said when asked if he'd remain with the Wizards. Emeka Okafor is also expected to opt in to his deal, but we've already noted that previously.
Apr 5 - 10:02 AM

Trevor Ariza scored eight points on 3-of-9 shooting (including two threes) with seven rebounds and one steal in 34 minutes off the bench.

It was a low scoring affair and Ariza is going to get a healthy batch of minutes as long as he can stay healthy. With Bradley Beal out for the season, he should be owned in most if not all formats.
Apr 3 - 9:44 PM

Trevor Ariza played 32 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's 90-86 win over the Bulls, scoring 10 points with seven boards, two assists, one steal and two 3-pointers.

He received more playing time than Martell Webster and it could have been matchup-based or there could be something with how cold Webster has been. Ariza is going to share time on the wing with Webster, but with Bradley Beal not at 100 percent, Ariza is worth a look in standards. The Wizards play again on Wednesday in Toronto.
Apr 2 - 10:44 PM

Trevor Ariza looked good in his second game back from the flu, scoring 10 points with two 3-pointers, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.

He did it all in under 30 minutes. He's healthy and should finish the season strong as the Wizards' sixth-man, so pick him up if you need a utility man.
Mar 31 - 9:19 PM

Trevor Ariza returned from the flu against the Magic on Friday, scoring five points with seven boards, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 26 minutes.

It wasn't good and it wasn't bad, which isn't usually Ariza's calling card. He'll have his ugly games, but he should be locked into a role a shade under 30 minutes with Bradley Beal out for a bit. He can rack up steals and threes, so he's worth a look in standard leagues.
Mar 29 - 10:10 PM

Trevor Ariza (flu) will play against the Magic on Friday night.

Ariza had been considered a game-time decision after missing three straight games with the virus. It's likely he won't be 100 percent but the Wizards definitely need him with pretty much every player not named John Wall ailing or sidelined.
Mar 29 - 6:26 PM

Trevor Ariza (flu) is a game-time decision on Friday.

Ariza has been out for three straight games and is still dealing with the flu, so this must be one powerful virus. If he sits again, Chris Singleton could be staring at huge minutes once again with Martell Webster (abdomen) unlikely to play.
