Martell Webster said re-signing with the Wizards is "a high priority."
It's a well-known fact that Washington would like to retain Webster, but things change when free agency enters the mix. Webster shot 42.2 percent from 3-point range this season and should have a fair number of suitors this summer. We expect the swingman to land a nice raise after signing a one-year, $1.6 million deal with the Wizards last summer. Apr 27 - 9:16 AM

GM Ernie Grunfeld confirmed that the Wizards would like to re-sign Martell Webster.

Webster has now earned the endorsement of John Wall, owner Ted Leonsis and Grunfeld, so we'd think the sharpshooter has plenty of leverage at the negotiating table considering he knows the Wizards want him back. After he shot 42.2 percent from behind the 3-point line this season, there will be no shortage of suitors for Webster.

Wizards owner Ted Leonsis reiterated the team wants to re-sign unrestricted free agent Martell Webster.

Webster has earned the endorsement from John Wall, and sources told the Washington Post that the club has made it a "priority" to retain Webster. "A key thing for us is try and keep Martell," Leonsis said.

The Wizards are making it a a priority to re-sign Martell Webster, sources told the Washington Post.

It makes sense. Webster connected on better than 40 percent of his shots from downtown and was one of the better value free-agent pickups of the year. John Wall has openly stated he wants to see Webster return, and the Wizards will likely look to keep their franchise player happy.
Apr 17 - 9:28 AM

Martell Webster (abdomen) will not play in the Wizards' final two games.

Webster's strained abdomen has spoiled his shot-making and caused him ongoing pain, but it sounds like rest will be sufficient to heal the injury. He finishes the season with career-highs in scoring (11.4 points), 3-point shooting (1.8 per game on 42.2 percent from downtown), rebounds (3.9), assists (1.9) and steals (0.7).
Apr 14 - 12:46 PM

Martell Webster (abdomen) and Trevor Ariza (knee) are both out of Friday's game against the Sixers.

Webster said he might be shut down for the season so this is hardly a surprise, while Ariza's continued knee soreness is sidelining him with no definitive timetable to return. Assuming both players sit out, Chris Singleton and Cartier Martin are in line to soak up minutes at small forward.

Martell Webster (abdomen) could be shut down for the season.

Webster aggravated his injury on Wednesday, and after the game he said "it's super sore, it's one of those times where I got to kind of shut it down." However, Webster did say he'd "exhaust every avenue" before deciding whether or not to shut it down, and with Trevor Ariza (knee) also dinged up, Cartier Martin, Chris Singleton and Garrett Temple are poised to be in line for big roles down the stretch.

Martell Webster aggravated his abdominal injury during the third quarter of Wednesday's game and will not return.

He's likely going to miss some time with this injury and in hindsight it would appear the team brought him back too quickly. He shot just 34 percent from the field in his last eight games, so it's probably time for fantasy owners to cut bait. The Wizards will go with Garrett Temple and Cartier Martin more with Webster out for the time being.
Apr 10 - 8:39 PM

Martell Webster shot 4-of-8 from the field for 10 points with seven boards, one assist and two steals in 27 minutes of action on Tuesday.

He hasn't been the same since sustaining a abdominal injury last month. In his seven games back from the ailment, Webster has just five 3-pointers. He can't find his stroke, but the opportunity is there for him with Bradley Beal out for the year.
Apr 9 - 11:35 PM

Martell Webster showed mild improvement vs. Boston, scoring 12 points with three 3-pointers, six rebounds, two assists and one steal in just 25 minutes.

Webster's abdominal injury has obviously impacted his shot down the stretch. In his first four games after the injury he shot just 1-of-14 from beyond the arc, though in the past two games he's a combined 4-of-9. Backup SF Trevor Ariza continues to limit Webster's role, scoring 14 points tonight with two 3s, one rebound, zero assists and three steals in 23 minutes.
Apr 7 - 8:56 PM

Martell Webster scored four points on 1-of-8 shooting (no threes) with three rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes on Wednesday.

Webster played just 26 minutes but he should get plenty of playing time now that Bradley Beal is out for the year. Keep an eye out on his durability as the season comes to a close, but he should be a decent option in most leagues.
Apr 3 - 9:46 PM

Martell Webster shot 2-of-7 from the field for six points with four boards in 22 minutes against the Bulls on Tuesday.

He didn't hit a three for the second game in a row and he's ice cold from deep. In his last four games, Webster is shooting just 6.3 percent from downtown. He has been fantastic for most of the season and owners should stick with him until further notice.
Apr 2 - 10:38 PM

The Wizards may be angling to re-sign Martell Webster as a free agent this summer, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Washington may have given away Jordan Crawford to clear both salary space and playing time for Webster, who has caught fire in March with averages of 15.5 points, 2.8 threes, 3.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.5 steals per game. He continues to start at SF ahead of Trevor Ariza and is a must-start option for anyone seeking help from downtown.

Mar 31 - 9:08 AM

Martell Webster (abdomen) made a surprising start against the Magic on Friday and had 19 points, seven boards, one assist and one 3-pointer in 39 minutes.

He was expected to miss a few more games with his abdominal injury and he might have been let loose in your league. Webster has buried 2.7 triples per game since the All-Star break and should be owned in all leagues that count treys.
Mar 29 - 10:27 PM

Updating a previous post, Martell Webster (abdomen), Trevor Ariza (flu) and A.J. Price (groin) will be in the lineup Friday night.

We're a little surprised Webster is playing since he said he was targeting a return April 7 against the Celtics. Expect him to be limited but he was playing well and worthy of being started in standard leagues before being hurt. Ariza has missed the past three games with the virus, which must be pretty potent to sideline him for that long. Ariza and Webster will likely share the minutes on the wing, while Price will serve as John Wall's backup and doesn't have much value.
