The Wizards have reportedly floated around the idea of using Martell Webster as a stretch-four this upcoming season.
Webster did play some stretch-four during his time with the Trail Blazers, so this is a potential option, although he'll still have Kris Humphries, Drew Gooden and Jared Dudley (back) ahead of him in the rotation for minutes. However, with Dudley recovering from back surgery and not expected to be available until mid-November, Webster could have a small window to make an impression on head coach Randy Wittman. That being said, Webster isn't likely to earn enough steady playing time in Washington to be considered a viable option in most leagues, so he can largely be ignored on draft day. Aug 20 - 4:56 PM

Martell Webster said that he's lost 20 pounds this offseason, and that he feels "amazing" health-wise heading into the 2015-16 season.

"I feel amazing. I transformed by body, I dropped 20 pounds and I’m probably going to drop 10 more, so that I’m about 206," said Webster. "Anywhere from 206 to 210 this next year, that’s what I want to play at. I feel amazing, a lot of pressure has been taken off my back and off of my joints and I feel great." Severe back issues limited Webster to just 32 games last season, but hopefully his new workout regime will have him better prepared for next season. He'll be someone to monitor if Bradley Beal goes down with an injury, but he won't have any fantasy value to start the season.
Aug 16 - 6:06 PM

Martell Webster scored a season-high 20 points against the Cavs on Wednesday with three rebounds, two assists, one steal and three 3-pointers on 5-of-9 from the field and 7-of-8 from the line.

Otto Porter went down tonight, which explains the increase in minutes and usage for Webster. Most signs point to Porter being ready to go for Game 1 on Saturday, so Webster might not be in the rotation against the Raptors.
Apr 16 - 12:28 AM

Martell Webster played a season-high 28 minutes against the Pacers on Wednesday with six points, six boards, one assist, two steals and one turnover.

Bradley Beal (ankle) went down tonight and the Wizards finally turned to Webster. The swingman really stepped up last season while Beal was out, but he's been out of the rotation for a slew of reasons. If Beal misses time, he's the most intriguing pickup because Rasual Butler and Otto Potter squandered their chances.
Mar 25 - 10:45 PM

Martell Webster (knee) is active against the Suns on Wednesday.

His right knee injury from Tuesday is not considered serious. Webster has some major concerns with his back, and he's still not going to be worth owning in most leagues.
Jan 28 - 9:41 PM

Martell Webster exited Tuesday's game with a right knee injury after colliding with Jeremy Lin.

He tried to walk off the injury and stay in the game but Washington's training staff thought better, pulling him off the court and into the locker room. Webster does not have a history of knee injuries and may have suffered nothing more severe than a stinger, but we'll update his status once more details surface.
Jan 28 - 12:11 AM

Martell Webster acknowledged during a recent interview that he still has a ways to go before he returns to form.

"I’ve still got a little ways to go," Webster said. "Rhythm and timing are still a little bit off." Webster added that he's a bit leery with the physical aspect of the game after coming off his third back surgery in four years, and that he has to think twice before taking a charge. He's playing limited minutes off the bench, and as long as Bradley Beal is healthy, he won't be worth owning in most leagues.
Jan 9 - 9:51 AM

Martell Webster (back) made his season debut on Tuesday, shooting 0-of-4 from the field and 3-of-5 from the free throw line to finish with three points in 14 minutes of action.

He also grabbed one rebound and turned the ball over once, and this was a predictably shaky debut after a lengthy rehab from back surgery. His real-world impact for the Wizards is likely to be greater than his fantasy impact, and it will take a few injuries to thrust Webster into a fantasy-friendly role.

Martell Webster (back) was active but did not play on Monday.

We're moving him off the injury report and he will have his work cut out for him getting consistent minutes.

Martell Webster (back) is expected to be activated against the Rockets on Monday.

He will be eased in after missing the entire season to this point. Webster needed offseason surgery and has multiple back injuries in his career, so he'll likely have a minutes cap for a while. He will hurt Rasual Butler's output and is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Martell Webster (back) won't play on Saturday, but he could make his season debut on this upcoming road trip.

Following today, the Wizards are on the road until Jan. 7 when they'll play the Knicks at home. Webster is taking some contact at practice, but there's no rush to bring him back with Rasual Butler playing well. Webster is only a stash in deep leagues.

Martell Webster (back) will not play on Thursday vs. the Knicks.

He is reportedly making a lot of progress and should be able to return soon. However, Webster likely won't be in the rotation anytime soon and can be left on the waiver wire in most leagues.
Wed, Dec 24, 2014 01:47:00 PM

Martell Webster (back) almost went through a full practice on Monday, but will not play on Tuesday.

It sounds like he has a chance to play in 2014. Otto Porter Jr. was a mild disappointment to start the year, so Webster should be on the radar for owners need 3-pointers. Rasual Butler would lose a big chunk of his value.
Mon, Dec 22, 2014 02:50:00 PM

Martell Webster (back) will not play Sunday vs. the Suns.

Webster is nearing a return, but Sunday will not be the day. We'll consider him questionable for Tuesday's game vs. Chicago, but with Paul Pierce and Bradley Beal healthy, there's not much reason to give him any attention in standard leagues.
Sun, Dec 21, 2014 04:40:00 PM

Martell Webster (back) could return to action as soon as Sunday against the Suns.

He has yet to play this season after coming off of his third back surgery in his career, so it will be great to see back out on the floor. He was seen getting up shots at practice on Saturday for a couple of hours, and he is reportedly feeling good. If he doesn't make his season debut Sunday, his next chance to play would be on Tuesday vs. the Bulls. However, Webster will likely be eased back into the rotation, and he won't see a lot of minutes while Paul Pierce and Otto Porter are healthy. Webster can be ignored in most leagues.
