Charlie Villanueva said the "road has come to an end" in Detroit.
He signed a five-year, $35 million deal back in 2009 and played just 9.0 minutes per game last season, so that contract wasn't exactly former general manager Joe Dumars' best move. Villanueva will likely sign somewhere, but it's almost certain he won't see major minutes out of the gate. Jul 26 - 9:44 AM

Charlie Villanueva isn't sure how much interest he'll draw as a free agent this summer, but the 29-year- old PF is eager to rebuild his value around the NBA.

"People haven’t seen me play in awhile, of course it’ll gonna be tough," Villanueva said. "If I have to work out [for teams] to show I still have a lot of basketball left, I’ll do it ... Basically start from scratch again." He played in only 20 games this season and will be a very unlikely fantasy option no matter which team's jersey he's wearing in 2014-15.
Apr 12 - 10:35 AM

Charlie Villanueva got back on the floor in a seven-minute effort on Monday.

Villanueva was dealing with a back issue but it really doesn't matter what's on the injury report. He's waiver wire fodder.
Mar 31 - 11:49 PM

Charlie Villanueva will not play on Monday vs. the Jazz due to a back issue.

He was in the rotation a bit with the Pistons not at 100 percent earlier last week, but he has two straight DNPs heading into tonight. Villanueva has no fantasy value right now.
Mar 24 - 9:19 PM

Charlie Villanueva hit 5-of-13 shots and three 3-pointers for 13 points, four rebounds and an assist in Wednesday's loss.

Villanueva had nine points in 12 minutes on Saturday, but didn't even play in his previous three games. And while we keep harping on the fact the Nuggets stink against opposing power forwards, the point was driven home by the fact that this was a season-high scoring game for Villanueva.
Mar 20 - 1:18 AM

Charlie Villanueva suggested that he wants a buyout from the Pistons.

Villanueva has appeared in just one game since Jan. 18 and 14 games all year. He's desperate to land somewhere he'd actually get some minutes, but that might not be in the cards. Charlie V hasn't earned more than 20 minutes a night since 2010-11.
Feb 21 - 1:39 PM

Charlie Villanueva is not on the bench for Tuesday's game due to a stomach bug.

He hasn't played in the last five games and is out of the rotation. Villanueva set the Raptors' rookie record for points in game with 48 back in 2006, so file that away in the useless stats department.
Jan 28 - 8:27 PM

Charlie Villanueva isn't playing on Friday.

He was expected to play, but the Pistons will keep him out again. Villanueva has played five minutes all season, so the Pistons will need a team effort to help fill the void.

Charlie Villanueva made his first appearance since a shoulder injury had sidelined him, scoring two points on 1-of-3 shooting in five minutes on Monday.

While it may be romantic to say that Pistons fans will miss complaining about his contract one day, they won't.

Charlie Villanueva (shoulder) is active for Monday's game against the Blazers.

This isn't exactly going to change the fabric of the fantasy world and Villanueva doesn't figure to crack the rotation on a regular basis while the team is healthy.
Mon, Nov 11, 2013 08:59:00 PM

Charlie Villanueva did not play on Friday against the Grizzlies.

Villanueva is a sunk cost for the Pistons and he can be ignored in all but the largest of formats.
Fri, Nov 1, 2013 07:43:00 PM

Charlie Villanueva is dealing with a sore shoulder and receiving stimulation treatment.

Villanueva no longer holds much fantasy value, if any.
Fri, Nov 1, 2013 01:29:00 PM

Charlie Villanueva left Tuesday's preseason game with a sore back and will not return.

He didn't do anything in his three minutes and has been getting outplayed by Tony Mitchell. At this point, you have to wonder if CV will even be in the Pistons rotation this season.

Charlie Villanueva reportedly lost $250,000 in an alleged Ponzi scheme run by former UConn player Tate George.

George is on trial for wire fraud for his involvement in the scheme, while Villanueva was promised a $37,500 profit on his $250,000 investment. He has seen none of the money return and isn't happy about it. "It's $250,000! That could have gone to my son's education," Villanueva said. The Pistons may also feel duped by acquiring Villanueva and his huge salary a few years ago, but he's still toiling off the bench and will be paid over $8.5 million dollars this season. Unless he looks like a new player in training camp, there's no reason to draft him in most fantasy leagues.

The Pistons will not use their amnesty provision on Charlie Villanueva this summer.

Detroit would welcome an opportunity to trade away Villanueva's expiring $8.6 million contract but they're not ready to pay him to leave (David Aldridge previously reported that they will not buy out his contract, either). If they had decided to amnesty him they'd fall under the NBA's minimum-salary threshold by approximately $5.4 million (based upon payroll estimates), money they'd have to throw at a dwindling pool of free agents or take on via trades.
