It's a predictable decision which nevertheless stings the Pistons financially. CV settled into a reliable bench role as this season progressed, occasionally catching fire from downtown, but his days of fantasy usefulness have ended. The good news for Detroit is that their two highest-paid players from 2012-13, Jose Calderon and Corey Maggette, are both coming off the books as unrestricted free agents this summer. Villanueva missed practice on Thursday due to the flu and it's possible he has simply fallen out of the rotation. He has no fantasy value at this time and we're taking him off the injury report.

Charlie Villanueva, who had 15 points in the fourth quarter on Saturday, hit just 1-of-7 shots for two points, four rebounds and four assists in 14 minutes in Tuesday's loss.

He's been getting some minutes at center and always has the potential to explode off the bench for the hapless Pistons, but putting him into a fantasy lineup is akin to playing with fire.

Charlie Villanueva scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to salvage a win for Detroit on Saturday, finishing with 18 points, four 3-pointers, four rebounds and one steal.

He only played 20 minutes, but he made the most of them. In addition to making clutch baskets, CV grabbed all four of his rebounds in the fourth quarter, he had a steal, and he contested Josh McRoberts' last-second put-back attempt just enough to force a miss. Savor this performance, because it may well be his final outburst of the 2012-13 season.

Charlie Villanueva scored 12 points in just 14 minutes against the Mavericks on Friday, adding three boards, one assist and two 3-pointers in 5-of-9 shooting.

He missed Wednesday's game due to a hamstring issue and was a big part of Detroit's fourth-quarter push. Villanueva is in a timeshare at power forward and with rookie Andre Drummond on the comeback trail, he can be left on the wire in standard leagues.

Charlie V was expected to play on Thursday, and since he went through shootaround, we can't imagine he'll take a seat on the sidelines. With Greg Monroe (ankle) also looking like he'll play, Jonas Jerebko will probably return to the bench and fight for minutes at power forward with Charlie V.

Interim coach Brian Hill expects Charlie Villanueva (hamstring) to play Friday against the Mavericks.

Villanueva warmed up before Wednesday's game against the Knicks but was ultimately unable to play. Greg Monroe (ankle) is also expected to play Friday, but the two are being called game-time decisions. Jonas Jerekbo had 12 points and four rebounds as a starter Friday, but would likely return to a timeshare with Villanueva once he's healthy. Check back after tomorrow's shootaround for confirmation on Villanueva's status.

Charlie Villanueva (sore left hamstring) will not play against the Knicks on Wednesday.

Villanueva warmed up before the game but didn't feel good enough to play. Greg Monroe (ankle) is also sidelined in a frontcourt already missing Andre Drummond (back). Look for a lot of Jonas Jerebko and Jason Maxiell against a Knicks team down Carmelo Anthony (knee) Wednesday. Viacheslav Kravtsov should also see some extra minutes.

Charlie Villanueva is a game-time decision on Wednesday due to a sore left hamstring.

Villanueva has been splitting time with Jonas Jerebko in the battle for minutes at power forward off the bench, but he hasn't really been given a consistent opportunity to show much. If he sits, it would open the door for Jerebko to play big minutes with Greg Monroe (ankle) also a game-time decision.

Charlie Villanueva scored 10 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds on Sunday, as the Pistons were defeated by 39 points in San Antonio.

Greg Monroe scored a team-high 16 points, while Jose Calderon added 14 points, but this game was a snoozer by halftime. In case you are intrigued by Villanueva's double-double, don't be -- the last time he scored at least 10 points, he followed it up with seven straight games in single-digits.

It was just two weeks ago that CV posted solid back-to-back games and people rushed to grab him off the waiver wire, but he's been predictably awful ever since. It's hard to fathom why Lawrence Frank would give a DNP-CD to Jonas Jerebko, as he did tonight, yet he'll allow CV to launch shots and hack away for 25 minutes.

Charlie Villanueva said that he will pick up next year's $8.5 million player option.

"It’s obvious what I’m going to do," Villanueva said. "Would you let that money go?" He's certainly right that no team is going to offer him more than $8.5 million next year. The 28-year-old forward was out of the rotation earlier this year, but an injury to Andre Drummond has launched him into a 25-minute-per-game role in his last six. He's worth a look in deeper leagues since he shoots threes and can help in defensive stats a little.
