Charlie Villanueva played three minutes in his return to action on Friday, missing his only shot and failing to register any other statistics.
Villanueva missed Wednesday's game to be with his wife for the birth of their second child, but he has since returned to the team. Villanueva is someone to consider in DFS on the days Dirk Nowitzki is inactive, but there's no reason to own him in any format while the Mavs are healthy. Nov 21 - 2:56 AM

Charlie Villanueva (personal) returned to the Mavericks on Friday and will be available to play vs. the Jazz.

He missed Wednesday's game against the Celtics due to the birth of his second child, but he should be back in the rotation and could see minutes in the teens. Villanueva is not on the fantasy radar.
Nov 20 - 12:25 PM

Charlie Villanueva has left the Mavericks for the birth of his second child, and he will miss Wednesday's game against the Celtics.

With Villanueva out, Dwight Powell and Dirk Nowitzki could see a slight uptick in minutes, with Nowitzki offering the most upside. We'd expect Villanueva to return for Friday's home game against the Jazz, but he basically only has value on the days that Dirk is rested.
Nov 18 - 11:48 AM

Charlie Villanueva (foot) missed practice on Tuesday.

Villanueva has been solid when he's gotten minutes this season, so this won't help a thin Mavs roster if he's unable to play against the Celtics on Wednesday. When healthy, Villanueva is worth a look in deeper leagues on nights Dirk Nowitzki sits, but he doesn't have much value beyond deeper leagues.
Nov 17 - 1:42 PM

Charlie Villanueva was outstanding in the starting lineup on Saturday with 19 points, five rebounds, one assist, three blocks and three 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

Dirk Nowitzki got the night off with the Mavs playing four games in five nights. Villanueva will likely be getting the rest of the starts at power forward on the nights Dirk sits, but he probably won't have a game as great as this one.
Nov 14 - 11:08 PM

Charlie Villanueva will start for the Mavs in place of Dirk Nowitzki.

He was the backup power forward for much of the season, but he'll have Dwight Powell get a few more minutes at the four too. Villanueva is shouldn't have much value beyond tonight.
Nov 14 - 7:57 PM

Charlie Villanueva came off the bench and led the Mavericks in minutes with 26, hitting 6-of-14 shots and a 3-pointer for a season-high 15 points, nine rebounds and a block.

No, you're not reading a blurb from 2007. Instead, Rick Carlisle got mad at his starters after falling into a 58-40 hole at half time and turned his bench crew loose. Charlie V didn't even play in his previous game and has seen 15 or fewer minutes in five of his seven games this year. This was a fluke, plain and simple, although with Chandler Parsons still extremely limited after knee surgery, Villanueva is at least worth keeping an eye on over his next couple games, just in case.
Nov 10 - 11:56 PM

Charlie Villanueva will be rested vs. the Suns on Wednesday.

Dirk Nowitzki and Devin Harris are also resting, and Deron Williams, Wesley Matthews and Chandler Parsons are out with injuries, leaving the Mavs' roster miserably thin. We should see plenty of Jeremy Evans, Dwight Powell and Justin Anderson tonight.

Charlie Villanueva was joined by Justin Anderson, Zaza Pachulia, Raymond Felton and John Jenkins in the starting lineup for the depleted Mavericks on Tuesday.

Villanueva played well, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds and two 3-pointers in 23 minutes, while Jenkins added 16 points, two 3-pointers and seven turnovers, and Devin Harris added 14 points, three assists, two steals and three 3-pointers off the bench. Dirk Nowitzki, Chandler Parsons, Wes Matthews and Deron Williams were all sitting this one out, so there's not much to learn from the Dallas box score. Matthews' injury is the most serious, but the rest of them should be ready for the start of the season. Don't put Villanueva, or any of tonight's "stars" on your radar just yet.

Charlie Villanueva anticipates being a "spark plug off the bench" for the Mavericks during the 2015-16 season.

Charlie V re-signed with the Mavs after a successful debut season in Dallas, and he'll be counted on to help backup an aging Dirk Nowitzki at the power forward position. While the club will have plenty of offense, it's the question of defense that will be the biggest in the Big D.
Aug 10 - 12:08 PM

Charlie Villanueva officially re-signed with the Mavericks on Tuesday.

The deal is for the veteran's minimum, so it makes a lot of sense for Dallas to bring him back after he had a strong finish to the 2014-15 season. Villanueva will continue to be a threat from beyond the arc in Dallas' second unit, but his limited role means that he will only be an option in deeper leagues.
Aug 5 - 9:16 AM

Charlie Villanueva has come to terms on a deal with the Mavs that will be officially signed later in the week.

The deal will be for the veteran's minimum, and he'll provide the Mavs with some emergency depth off the bench. It'll take more than a few injuries for Villanueva to gain any sort of fantasy value, and he can ignored in all leagues on draft day.
Jul 7 - 2:08 PM

Charlie Villanueva is a "good bet" to re-sign with the Mavericks on a minimum contract.

Charlie V saved his career in Dallas last season after the Mavs gave him a shot to make the team in training camp, and with the veteran expressing a desire to return to Dallas, it shouldn't be too hard for the two sides to work out a new deal.
Jul 6 - 9:21 AM

Charlie Villanueva said that he'd "love" to return to the Mavericks as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

"I would love to come back," Villanueva said. "It felt like this organization gave me an opportunity, gave me a chance and took a chance on me. I’m loyal, and I would love to be back." While Villanueva would love to return, the Mavs currently have much larger concerns in free agency, with Tyson Chandler and other big name free agents hitting the open market. Villanueva may be able to land another minimum level deal with the club, but with season averages of just 6.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, he's not going to have any real fantasy value in almost any league.
May 8 - 12:12 PM

Charlie Villanueva started and scored 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting with four rebounds, one steal, one block and three treys over 22 minutes in Monday's loss to the Jazz.

Villanueva could get similar run or even more in Wednesday's finale, so if you need some 3-pointers, points, boards and maybe some defensive stats -- give him a look.
