Charlie Villanueva is exploring options in China according to David Pick.
The 32-year-old big man clearly hasn't generated much interest in free agency, and it doesn't help that he shot just 38.2 percent from the field last season and 27.3 percent from deep. Sep 9 - 10:56 AM

Charlie Villanueva scored 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting Sunday, to go with five boards, two assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 13 minutes off the bench.

Like most games when Villanueva suddenly shows up in the box score, he did all of his damage during the fourth quarter of action. This was just the ninth time this season that Villanueva has produced a semi-relevant stat line, and we are not anticipating a repeat performance on Monday with a tough matchup against Utah. Leave him on the wire.
Apr 10 - 6:58 PM

Charlie Villanueva scored all 16 of his points during the fourth quarter of Friday's loss to the Warriors, adding five boards, four 3-pointers, one steal, one block and one turnover in 24 minutes.

Dirk Nowitzki was rested in this one, which allowed Villanueva to earn some extended run. However, Dirk will be back in action on Sunday vs. Sacramento, so there's no reason to swoop up Villanueva in any league.
Mar 26 - 1:24 AM

Charlie Villanueva scored 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting Friday, to go with six boards, three assists, one 3-pointer and three turnovers in 23 minutes.

Villanueva got some extra run tonight with the game well out of reach by halftime, and with the Mavs on a back-to-back set, CV could potentially enter the starting lineup on Saturday if Rick Carlisle elects to rest Dirk Nowitzki. If that's the case, Villanueva could be worth a punt play in DFS, although there's no reason to swoop him up in season-long settings.
Feb 6 - 3:00 AM

Charlie Villanueva will return to the bench for Friday's game vs. the Thunder with Dirk Nowitzki (knee) active.

As a reserve, Villanueva owns averages of 5.3 points and 2.5 boards on 39.0 percent shooting. There's no fantasy value to be had here.
Jan 22 - 8:09 PM

Charlie Villanueva started at PF with Dirk Nowitzki (knee) out on Wednesday, posting 14 points (5-of-14 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) with six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

If CV can't make shots he's not going to help the Mavs, but he at least forced the Wolves to honor him on the perimeter. Dirk is questionable to return for Friday's game and there's a chance that Dallas plays it safe, giving another start to CV, but he's not a palatable option outside of very deep leagues.
Jan 21 - 12:04 AM

Charlie Villanueva will start in place of Dirk Nowitzki (knee) on Wednesday against the Wolves.

The last time CV got the start for Dirk he was ejected, so hopefully it'll go better this time around. The Mavs will be using a lot of Chandler Parsons at the four and Dwight Powell should also get some burn there, too. Parsons might benefit the most here while Powell is interesting too.
Jan 20 - 7:35 PM

Charlie Villanueva was ejected for being involved with an altercation between J.J. Barea and Russell Westbrook on Wednesday.

He put his hands around Russell Westbrook's head and that was likely what caused the ejection. Villanueva could see a suspension from this, but he won't be in the rotation once the Mavs get their guys back from rest. He was playing well with seven points, one rebound, one steal and one 3-pointer.
Jan 13 - 9:02 PM

Charlie Villanueva will start on Wednesday against the Thunder.

He was a disaster in his chance last week, making 1-of-10 from the field in his start last Wednesday. Villanueva should be better and is a risky punt option in DFS.
Jan 13 - 7:57 PM

Charlie Villanueva started Wednesday's game but was ice cold, shooting 1-of-10 from the field (0-of-5 from deep) to finish with two points and six rebounds in 21 minutes.

CV has the green light to shoot when he's on the court, as evidenced by his 26.7 percent usage rate, but he's only averaging 11.8 minutes this season. He started tonight's game because Dirk Nowitzki was being rested, and he'll return to a fantasy-irrelevant role vs. Denver on Friday.
Jan 7 - 12:53 AM

Charlie Villanueva will start at PF vs. the Pelicans on Wednesday.

Dirk Nowitzki is one of four starters being rested tonight, hence CV's temporary promotion to the starting five. The 11-year veteran made one other start this season, scoring 19 points with three 3-pointers, five rebounds and three blocks, and he should contribute a quick burst of scoring and 3s.
Jan 6 - 7:55 PM

Charlie Villanueva played three minutes in his return to action on Friday, missing his only shot and failing to register any other statistics.

Villanueva missed Wednesday's game to be with his wife for the birth of their second child, but he has since returned to the team. Villanueva is someone to consider in DFS on the days Dirk Nowitzki is inactive, but there's no reason to own him in any format while the Mavs are healthy.

Charlie Villanueva (personal) returned to the Mavericks on Friday and will be available to play vs. the Jazz.

He missed Wednesday's game against the Celtics due to the birth of his second child, but he should be back in the rotation and could see minutes in the teens. Villanueva is not on the fantasy radar.
Fri, Nov 20, 2015 12:25:00 PM

Charlie Villanueva has left the Mavericks for the birth of his second child, and he will miss Wednesday's game against the Celtics.

With Villanueva out, Dwight Powell and Dirk Nowitzki could see a slight uptick in minutes, with Nowitzki offering the most upside. We'd expect Villanueva to return for Friday's home game against the Jazz, but he basically only has value on the days that Dirk is rested.
Wed, Nov 18, 2015 11:48:00 AM

Charlie Villanueva (foot) missed practice on Tuesday.

Villanueva has been solid when he's gotten minutes this season, so this won't help a thin Mavs roster if he's unable to play against the Celtics on Wednesday. When healthy, Villanueva is worth a look in deeper leagues on nights Dirk Nowitzki sits, but he doesn't have much value beyond deeper leagues.
