Charlie Villanueva played just eight minutes with three rebounds to his stat line on Friday.
Villanueva had shown some flashes of past form but tonight is a tough pill to swallow for a guy that hasn't done anything in a long time. Keep an eye on him in deep leagues, but owners can watch this action from the wire. Jan 2 - 10:53 PM

Charlie Villanueva continued his improbable run as Mavs' backup big man on Friday, scoring 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including three treys) with three rebounds and four blocks.

Villanueva was fatigued by the minutes and he has three very solid games under his belt. We don't know if this can continue but he's the only real backup big that they have that can do anything offensively. He can't keep his current mid-round production from the last week up, but deep league owners can certainly speculate on his value and standard league owners (especially in 9-cat) may want to start giving him a look.

Charlie Villanueva scored a season-high 18 points on Tuesday vs. the Suns, adding four boards and four 3-pointers in 20 minutes.

Don't look now but Villanueva has now posted two decent games in a row after scoring 14 points on Monday. There is some playing time available in Dallas after Brandan Wright was shipped to Boston, so owners in deep leagues can put him on their radar. To be clear, we don't see Villanueva being able to keep up this pace, but crazier things have happened.

Charlie Villanueva hit four 3-pointers in 13 minutes off the bench on Monday, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Villanueva could theoretically luck into a small role now that the Mavs sent their only serviceable reserve big man to Boston. But forgive us if we don't act like we're at Walmart on a Black Friday.

Charlie Villanueva will make the Mavs roster.

He didn't play well and the Mavericks have one of the deepest forward rotations in the NBA. Villanueva isn't going to make the rotation.

Charlie Villanueva finished his preseason with a five-point effort in six minutes off the Mavs' bench, making one 3-pointer with two rebounds and one turnover.

CV scored double-digit points in four games this preseason and his 3-point prowess might be appealing for coach Rick Carlisle to keep on the bench. He's not a lock to make the regular season roster, however, and fantasy owners should continue ignoring him.

Charlie Villanueva caught fire in 11 fourth-quarter minutes of Sunday's exhibition, scoring 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting with four 3-pointers.

CV is fighting for a roster spot, but his preseason play had been lackluster prior to tonight's scoring binge. He fouled out of his first game in just 14 minutes, then shot 1-of-5 from the field with two more fouls in 10 minutes during Friday's loss. Even if he does make the regular-season roster, he's persona non grata in fantasy leagues.

Charlie Villanueva is hoping to survive the Mavericks' final roster cuts.

After five lackluster seasons in Detroit, the 30-year-old is trying to resurrect his career in Dallas. "I had problems with my ankle and my back, but I’m healthy, feeling good and at 100 percent," Villanueva said. "I think injuries set me back a little bit, and a little bit had to do with what was going on up there in Detroit. But those things are behind me now." Even if he's able to catch on with the Mavericks, Villanueva wouldn't hold any fantasy value as a bench player.

Charlie Villanueva hit 4-of-8 shots and three 3-pointers for 13 points in 14 minutes for the Mavericks on Tuesday.

He doesn't appear to have a spot on the opening-night roster at this point, but is trying to draw some attention from a team that might have room for him. He played pretty well tonight, but don't expect to see lines like this from Charlie V once the games start counting.

Maverick sign F Charlie Villanueva.

After getting a ridiculous contract from Joe Dumars in Detroit, Charlie V will now sit on the bench for the Mavericks this season, assuming he makes the team. The Mavs have 15 guaranteed contracts, so it's possible that he may not be on the opening night roster. If he does make the team, he could have a handful of interesting games in Dallas, but it's hard to imagine him getting more than 10 minutes a game. Forget about him, regardless of where he lands.

Charlie Villanueva has reportedly agreed to sign with the Mavericks.

The deal is non-guaranteed, and with the Mavericks already with 15 guaranteed contracts, Villanueva will have to impress at training camp in order to actually make the team. The Mavs are very deep at the power forward position, so if he does make the cut, it'll be difficult for him to get meaningful minutes. He's been largely irrelevant ever since signing a five-year, $35 million deal with Detroit back in 2009, and averaged just 4.6 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.7 three-pointers on 38.0 percent shooting last season. Charlie is not a fantasy option in any league.

Charlie Villanueva is close to making a decision on signing with the Mavericks or Clippers.

It's expected to be a one-year deal for the former Piston. Villanueva made it clear he's not going to be back with Detroit next season, which isn't a surprise after he didn't really crack the rotation. He'll have a tough time getting in the rotation in L.A. or Dallas.

Charlie Villanueva said the "road has come to an end" in Detroit.

He signed a five-year, $35 million deal back in 2009 and played just 9.0 minutes per game last season, so that contract wasn't exactly former general manager Joe Dumars' best move. Villanueva will likely sign somewhere, but it's almost certain he won't see major minutes out of the gate.

Charlie Villanueva isn't sure how much interest he'll draw as a free agent this summer, but the 29-year- old PF is eager to rebuild his value around the NBA.

"People haven’t seen me play in awhile, of course it’ll gonna be tough," Villanueva said. "If I have to work out [for teams] to show I still have a lot of basketball left, I’ll do it ... Basically start from scratch again." He played in only 20 games this season and will be a very unlikely fantasy option no matter which team's jersey he's wearing in 2014-15.

Charlie Villanueva got back on the floor in a seven-minute effort on Monday.

Villanueva was dealing with a back issue but it really doesn't matter what's on the injury report. He's waiver wire fodder.
