Francisco Garcia has officially retired from international play.
Following the Dominican Republic's loss to Slovenia at the FIBA World Cup of Basketball, Garcia decided to call it quits on international play. "I’ve played my last games with Dominican National Team. I am proud of having played 11 years with the national team," said Garcia. The 32-year-old will be back in a similar role with the Rockets this season after averaging 5.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.3 three-pointers during the 2013-14 campaign and does not warrant fantasy consideration in standard leagues. Francisco Garcia played 21 minutes during the Dominican Republic's loss to Slovenia on Saturday, scoring seven points with one rebound, one assist, two steals, two blocks and one 3-pointer.

He had a solid event, averaging 17.6 points, 3.2 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.0 steals, 1.2 blocks and 3.6 triples. Garcia will be in a similar role with the Rockets from last season and should get in the rotation, but he won't be worth drafting in most leagues.
Sep 6 - 4:24 PM

Francisco Garcia led all players with 18 points in the Dominican Republic's loss to Turkey.

He also had three rebounds, two assists, and two steals while going 7-of-12 from the field. Garcia sat out the team's game against the United States on Wednesday due to an ankle injury, but managed to be the key contributor for the Dominican Republic. Garcia re-signed with the Rockets on a one-year deal this offseason.

Francisco Garcia (ankle) will not play vs. Team USA on Wednesday.

The Dominican is going to be in a little bit of trouble today. Team USA has been rolling the entire tournament and should dominate again. As for Garcia, his injury is minor and he should be fine for training camp. He's not worth targeting in almost any format.
Sep 3 - 3:29 PM

The Rockets officially re-signed Francisco Garcia to a one-year deal on Friday.

Garcia averaged 5.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.3 three-pointers through 19.7 minutes of action with the Rockets last season. He's not on the radar in standard leagues.
Aug 22 - 4:53 PM

Francisco Garcia has signed a one-year deal with the Rockets, according to his agent, Aaron Goodwin.

Goodwin denied the report of a Garcia-Rockets, two-year agreement last week, so the two parties went with a short-term deal instead. He'll join a team with a bit less depth than last year, but he's not a lock for consistent minutes.
Aug 21 - 7:52 PM

Aaron Goodwin, agent for Francisco Garcia, said on Friday that the report of his client agreeing to deal with Rockets is false.

"There's no agreement reached," Goodwin said. Garcia was reportedly signed for a two-year deal, but this report is more than enough to suggest he's still a free agent. He'll be looking at a short-term deal and a team like the Jazz could be an option for Garcia.
Aug 15 - 12:15 PM

The Rockets have re-signed Francisco Garcia.

It's a two-year, $3.5 million deal for Garcia. He was out of the rotation for a sizable portion of the season, but he did play 22.8 minutes per game in April while the Rockets were banged up. He'll compete for minutes with Alonzo Gee on the wing.

The Houston Rockets intend to re-sign unrestricted free agent Francisco Garcia, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle

In answering a Twitter follower's question about Garcis, Feigen said both the team and Garcia are planning on a reunion but haven't come to an agreement yet. Garcia averaged 5.7 points, 1.3 three-pointers, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 54 games with the Rockets last year and would hold little fantasy value as a bench player with Houston or any other team.

Francisco Garcia is getting interest from the Rockets.

His agent said Garcia is looking to play for a championship-caliber team like Houston. The Jazz are also interested in Garcia, so Garcia probably won't be signing with them any time soon. He'll be a backup on the Rockets and would spend time on the wing.
Jul 25 - 9:43 AM

The Jazz could look to add Francisco Garcia, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

They are reportedly looking to add a shooter or a point guard. If the Jazz do not add a shooter, it will serve as confidence in rookie Rodney Hood, who was impressive in summer league. Garcia probably wouldn't see significant minutes with Utah.
Jul 19 - 9:35 AM

According to Chris Haynes, the Jazz, Hornets, Nets and Rockets are all interested in free agent swingman Francisco Garcia.

Garcia has proved to be a decent role player and is capable of the occasional big game, but there's no reason to think he'll be worth drafting in standard fantasy leagues, regardless of where he lands.
Jul 8 - 11:24 PM

Francisco Garcia has opted out of his contract with the Rockets and will be an unrestricted free agent.

The move was expected and the Rockets have to be happy about Garcia opting out to give them more cap space. It's possible he will return, but the Rockets aren't going to be chomping at the bit to bring him back due to how often he misses games due to injury.
Jun 30 - 9:19 AM

Francisco Garcia will not play vs. the Pelicans on Wednesday.

The Rockets are short on players tonight and we may get to see some serious run out of Troy Daniels and Omri Casspi. Garcia's DNP will likely be more precautionary than anything.
Apr 16 - 8:08 PM

Francisco Garcia (back) played 14 minutes against the Spurs on Monday with two points and three boards.

He missed Saturday's game due to a back injury and was a game-time call tonight. Garcia won't have much opportunity while Chandler Parsons and James Harden are active.
