The Rockets will not pick up Francisco Garcia's team option for 2013-14.
Cisco would have earned $6.4 million and the decision to waive him is predictable given his role, averaging 5.5 points while shooting 39.3 percent in 18 minutes per game with the Kings and Rockets last season. He has already stated that he would "love" to re-sign in Houston. Jun 16 - 10:42 AM

The Rockets are not expected to pick up Francisco Garcia's $6.4 million option for 2013-14.

This means Garcia will become a free agent, as expected, though he's already said he would "love" to re-sign with Houston. He is also the only substantial free agent for the Rockets this season, as GM Daryl Morey has constructed a playoff team brimming with talented young players on affordable contracts laden with team options.
May 13 - 6:28 PM

Francisco Garcia would "love to come back" with the Rockets next season.

It seems doubtful that Houston will pick up his $6.4 million team option, however, so he may have to negotiate a new deal to stay with James Harden and company. Cisco played in 58 games this season, including 20 starts in which he averaged 7.9 points, 1.8 threes, 0.9 steals and 1.1 blocks in a mere 24 minutes per game.
May 6 - 5:12 PM

Francisco Garcia hit 6-of-14 shots and five 3-pointers for 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocks in Wednesday's Game 5 win at OKC.

Garcia could never really find his stride with the Kings and didn't do much early in this series, but has become a nice weapon for the Rockets over the last few games. And if he keeps it up, it's possible he could have some fantasy value next season if he can win a starting gig.
May 2 - 12:36 AM

Francisco Garcia will start in Monday's Game 4 vs. the Thunder.

Garcia played 32 minutes in Game 3, scoring 18 points to go along with a steal and three blocks (four 3-pointers), and now he'll apparently get the starting nod for the first time in the series on Monday. It's not clear what Houston's starting lineup will be, but Garcia is expected to be in there. It could be a sign that Jeremy Lin (chest) won't play.
Apr 29 - 12:21 PM

Francisco Garcia scored 15 points with one board, two assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 36 minutes on Tuesday.

Cisco got plenty of burn with Chandler Parsons (calf) and Carlos Delfino (illness). Garcia will go back to a reserve role once Parsons comes back, so there's very little reason to pick him up.
Apr 10 - 12:32 AM

Francisco Garcia scored 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from downtown vs. the Nuggets, playing 28 minutes in a fill-in start at SF.

Garcia is worth deploying as long as Chandler Parsons (calf) is out, and tonight he also didn't have to worry about Carlos Delfino (flu). If you own Cisco, be sure to routinely check Houston's injury report.
Apr 7 - 12:05 AM

Francisco Garcia started in place of Chandler Parsons (illness) and had 14 points, five assists, four 3-pointers and three blocks in a win over the Magic on Monday.

Garcia has this type of line in him on a nightly basis, but rarely gets enough minutes to make it happen. Parson should be back sooner than later, which should mean this was just a flash in the pan for Garcia.
Apr 2 - 12:41 AM

Francisco Garcia returned from a recent illness with 15 points, three 3-pointers, one steal and one block on Saturday, as the Rockets beat the Clippers in Houston.

With James Harden out there was an urgent need for Garcia to produce, and he didn't disappoint. Owners scouring the wire for a low-end option should target Garcia's fantasy-friendly game ahead of fill-in starter James Anderson (seven points in 26 minutes).
Mar 30 - 10:45 PM

Francisco Garcia (illness) not expected to play on Sunday.

He's played 20+ minutes just once in the past month and won't have fantasy relevance as long as James Harden and Chandler Parsons are healthy. He should have recovered in time to face the Pacers on Wednesday.
Mar 24 - 7:15 PM

Francisco Garcia is expected to make his Rockets debut on Wednesday against the Bucks.

Garcia and Thomas Robinson joined the Rockets in a pre-deadline trade last week, but neither has seen game action for their new club. Garcia is unlikely to have much fantasy value in Houston and will likely play 20 minutes or less in a reserve role behind Chandler Parsons and James Harden.
Feb 27 - 7:24 PM

Francisco Garcia is not expected to play on Friday.

The Rockets are still waiting on physicals to be completed in order to get clearance for all the players to play, and it's unlikely to happen in time for Friday's affair.
Feb 22 - 11:44 AM

Francisco Garcia was traded to the Rockets on Wednesday.

He started 15 games with the Kings and was a helpful piece during the season with Marcus Thornton and Tyreke Evans dealing with injuries. Garcia has been with the Kings his entire career and he doesn't figure have much value with the Rockets. He played 20 minutes per game in his last 10 and Evans, Thornton, Jimmer Fredette and John Salmons figure to split that allotment.

Francisco Garcia started Saturday's game in the Kings' new-look lineup but he was scoreless with one rebound in 22 minutes.

In 14 starts this season, Cisco is averaging 7.1 points, 1.4 threes, 2.6 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game He has a fantasy-friendly game but we know better than to trust Keith Smart, and Sacramento's rotations were even more haphazard than usual tonight. John Salmons scored three points in 24 minutes, and Tyreke Evans wasn't much better with seven points, four rebounds and four dimes in 30 minutes.
Feb 2 - 11:26 PM

Francisco Garcia went cold offensively in Friday's win, scoring just three points on 1-of-7 shooting, but he did round his line out with two steals, three blocks, and one 3-point bucket.

Garcia can provide defense in spurts but he really struggles with his shot selection and decision-making on both sides of the floor. With Tyreke Evans and Marcus Thornton eventually returning, both he and John Salmons (20 points) will be on the outside looking in for most fantasy leagues.
