Newly-acquired Suns PF Shavlik Randolph logged 10 minutes off the bench on Sunday, scoring two points with two rebounds and one steal.
Head coach Jeff Hornacek praised Randolph's "knack" for rebounding before the game, but the 30-year-old PF is not a fantasy option even if he does emerge as a regular rotation player. Mar 2 - 11:12 PM

Suns sign PF Shavlik Randolph.

He last played for Boston in 2012-13, when he shot 58.3 percent from the field and grabbed 4.4 rebounds in just 12 minutes per game. He's a career 54.8 percent FT shooter with a penchant for foul trouble, however, and a limited role off the Suns' bench isn't likely to yield fantasy value outside of the deepest leagues. He will be available to play vs. the Hawks on Sunday.

The Celtics declined to pick up Shavlik Randolph's $1.1 million team option for the 2013-14 season.

This sounds like a pure financial decision for a team trying to save on the luxury tax. Randolph's contract would've become guaranteed if he were still on the roster Thursday. The 6-foot-10 big man should still be able to find some work as a backup forward.

The Celtics would "clearly prefer" to pick up their $1.1 million team option for Shavlik Randolph, but they might let him leave to save on the luxury tax.

There's a slight chance that Boston can slash their payroll down below the luxury-tax threshold before Aug. 1, when Randolph's deal becomes fully guaranteed. If letting Shavlik leave doesn't help with the tax, however, the 6'10" big man should earn reliable minutes off the bench. The Boston Globe says that he "may be one of the best rebounders on the [Celtics] roster."

Celtics GM Danny Ainge hinted Shavlik Randolph has a strong chance of returning to the Celtics next season.

The team holds an option on Randolph's deal, and Ainge understands his value. "Shav helped us a lot," he said. "He's a guy that will probably have the best chance of being with us in the future, just because he rebounds, and that was one of our weaknesses." It wouldn't surprise us to see Randolph stick as a backup behind Kevin Garnett.

Shavlik Randolph left Wednesday's finale with a sore lower back.

He had five points and four boards in 13 minutes, but don't look for him to see much action in the playoffs. As for his back, we're guessing it's nothing serious.

Shavlik Randolph was efficient in his 13 minutes of action in Friday's 97-91 loss to the Cavs, scoring 16 points with seven boards and one steal.

His 16 points were a season high and he got some extra burn with the Celtics missing Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett on Friday. As nice as this line was, it'll be tough for him to have any value in just 13 minutes.

The Celtics officially signed Shavlik Randolph to a multi-year contract Thursday.

This was an expected move that will keep Randolph with the Celtics at least through the end of this season. He'll provide the team decent depth up front as they finish out the regular season and enter the playoffs.

The Celtics are expected to sign Shavlik Randolph for the rest of the season.

No surprise here as Randolph's second 10-day contract is set to expire and the team wants to keep him for the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs.

Shavlik Randolph scored six points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds vs. the Bobcats on Saturday, playing more than 16 minutes off the bench.

Kevin Garnett's absence cleared extra playing time for Shavlik, who doesn't have fantasy appeal outside of the deepest leagues. The Celtics, by the way, have quietly won 11 straight home games dating back to late January.

Celtics sign F Shavlik Randolph to a second 10-day contract.

As expected, Randolph will remain at the end of the Celtics bench.

The Celtics are expected to sign Shavlik Randolph to a second 10-day contract.

Randolph has not played a single second since he was signed to his first 10-day contract, so he's the definition of an insurance policy for Boston.

Celtics sign F Shavlik Randolph to a 10-day contract.

The Celtics have inked Terrence Williams and D.J. White to 10-deal days after their season in China, and now Randolph. He'll be eligible to play immediately.

Shavlik Randolph is seeking his letter of clearance from China and hopes to sign in the NBA in the "coming days," according to Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated.

Randolph was tearing it up in China, but no matter where he lands in the NBA, he's unlikely to be a major part of the team's rotation and will likely just be insurance at the end of the bench.

Shavlik Randolph has signed a contract with Foshan Long Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association.

Looks like it's back to China for the big man. Fantasy owners hopeful of Randolph finding NBA relevancy will have to wait another year.
