The Nets have called up guard Orien Greene from the D-League.

Greene, who averaged 18.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 24 games with the Utah Flash this season, will sign a 10-day contract. He hasn't been in the league since 2008 and won't have any fantasy value.

Former NBA guard Orien Greene has been suspended for two years for submitting someone else's urine sample while playing for a pro team in Amsterdam.

Greene’s teammate (the team is named Eclipse Jet/MyGuide) and former Arkansas guard Teddy Gipson admitted to helping and received a six-month suspension that took effect last Saturday. Before leaving for Europe in 2008, Greene played briefly with the Celtics, Pacers and Kings.

With the return of Ron Artest and the emergence of Beno Udrih, the Kings no longer needed Orien Greene on their roster, and placed him on waivers on Thursday.

Greene started two games for the short-handed Kings, but failed to make much of an impression. Even if he lands with another team, he won't have any fantasy value.

Orien Greene started for the Kings on Wednesday, but finished with just two points and one assist in 16 minutes.

He might hold onto the starting job until Ron Artest returns from a suspension, but isn't likely to have fantasy value. That said, he had an off night and should be a little better than this in his next one.

Point guard Orien Greene will start for the Kings on Wednesday night as they open the season against the Hornets.

Greene is a true point guard and is getting the call over teammates Quincy Douby, John Salmons and Francisco Garcia. Salmons probably has the best chance at success in the absence of Mike Bibby, but Greene could win the starting job until January if he plays well.

Backup point guard Orien Greene has agreed to terms with the Kings and is expected to sign this weekend, according to a league source.

Greene spent his first two seasons playing in a limited role for Boston and Indiana after being drafted 53rd overall by the Celtics in 2005. The contract will be partially guaranteed, so he'll still need to win the backup point guard job during training camp in October. His main competition appears to be Mustafa Shakur, an undrafted rookie from Arizona.

The Indiana Pacers have waived guard Orien Greene on Friday.

The Pacers tried to incorporate Greene into their rotation more towards the end of the season, but he failed to make an impact. In 41 games, Greene managed just 1.5 PPG and 1.1 RPG. He'll likely catch on with some team seeking a third point guard, but won't have any value.

Coach Carlisle says he plans to work Orien Greene into the rotation more as the team needs the help on perimeter defense he can offer.

"With the way we've struggled on the perimeter defensively, we need to get his defensive ability in the game, even if it's at (shooting guard)," Carlisle said. "It will be a different position for him, but I think he can do it." He played almost 17 minutes on Tuesday as the first man off the bench and got another 10 and a half minutes on Wednesday. Greene has no fantasy value, but the extra minutes won't hurt, especially with the team missing a couple of key performers.

Orien Greene made his season debut with the Pacers on Wednesday, but had just one point and one assist.

He has no fantasy value right now, but could if Jamaal Tinsley goes down with an injury. He was 0-of-3 from the field tonight and had been out with a broken finger suffered in the preseason.

Orien Greene (finger) is expected to resume practicing with the Pacers on Monday and could be activated for a game next week.

Greene broke the little finger on his left hand in three places in the first preseason game. "We can keep three (point guards) active," Carlisle said. "In some cases maybe we keep four active. Healthy bodies are something you always want to have." Darrell Armstrong could be deactivated when Greene returns.

Orien Greene will open the season on the inactive list because of a broken little finger on his left hand.

Greene suffered the break -- in three places, it turned out -- in the first preseason game against New Jersey on Oct. 11. Pins will be removed in a few weeks, at which time he can resume contact drills. "I'm about halfway through (the healing process)," he said.

Backup point guard Orien Greene missed Monday's preseason game with a broken pinky finger on his left hand.

No word on how long he'll be out, but the way things are shaping up in Indy, Jamaal Tinsley will get the bulk of minutes at point guard, at least until he inevitably gets hurt. Tinsley can probably be had very late in fantasy drafts, making him an excellent late value pick.

The Pacers' point guard depth chart reads Jamaal Tinsley, Sarunas Jasickevicius, Darrell Armstrong and then Orien Greene. They only need three, making Greene possibly the odd-man out.

But before you scratch Greene off your mid-summer cheat sheet, remember that Tinsley is the most injury-prone point guard in the league, Jasickevicius rarely was able to get the ball up the court last year without turning it over, and Armstrong is one of the oldest players in the league. The Pacers might be using Greene more than they every imagined by New Year's Day.
