Reserve PG Travis Diener has undergone successful surgery on his left big toe. He is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks.

Diener missed all of preseason and has not played at all in the regular season. Last season, he averaged 3.7 points as a backup. This year he is unlikely to be a factor even when healthy.

Point Guard Travis Diener has exercised his player option to remain with the Pacers for the upcoming season.

This was a smart move by Diener, who will continue to play behind Jarrett Jack and T.J. Ford for as long as both players remain with the Pacers.

Coach Jim O'Brien told the Indianapolis Star that Travis Diener has lost a consistent spot in the rotation, because he has stopped starting Jarrett Jack and T.J. Ford together.

Diener has had his moments this year, but moving T.J. Ford to the bench made him the third point guard, and not a backup guard in a two point guard set. He has no value in fantasy leagues as a result.

Travis Diener returned from a chest ailment in Saturday's loss to the Clippers, coming off Indiana's bench for five points and two assists in 16 minutes.

Diener has been solid as a backup PG, but his fantasy value is extremely muted as long as T.J. Ford and Jarrett Jack are both healthy.

Diener has been excellent lately, but the problem is making him very iffy for Saturday. That would just mean more minutes for T.J. Ford and Jarrett Jack.
