John Lucas was traded to the Cavs on Tuesday.
He has a non-guaranteed deal and the Cavs just did this to set up another possible move. Lucas had some interest from the Bulls before this deal, and he's still likely to not wind up with the Cavs this upcoming season. Jul 22 - 7:08 PM

The Bulls have interest in acquiring John Lucas III.

He's a favorite of coach Tom Thibodeau and it would likely be at the veteran minimum. Lucas started for the Jazz to start the season while Trey Burke dealt with a hand injury in 2013-14, but he didn't play well. He'd just be insurance for Derrick Rose.
Jul 19 - 12:31 PM

The Jazz would like to retain free agent PG John Lucas III as a mentor for Trey Burke and Dante Exum.

Lucas is slated to earn $1.6 million next season but his deal is fully unguaranteed, so the Jazz have the option to let him enter free agency or keep him on a reasonable salary. It was reported in mid-June that they were likely to bring him back, which makes sense given their apparent and logical desire for a veteran guard on the roster.
Jun 29 - 7:22 PM

John Lucas is expected to be back for the second year of his deal with the Jazz.

The Jazz could wind up trading him, but if not he has a non-guaranteed deal until January. Lucas drew six starts last season with Trey Burke out due to injury, but didn't play well with his 27.9 percent from the field in those outings. He has no fantasy value.
Jun 18 - 5:48 PM

John Lucas III (right ankle sprain) played three minutes in his return on Sunday, scoring one point at the free throw line.

Needless to say, Lucas shouldn't be on any fantasy rosters as long as starting PG Trey Burke and primary backup Diante Garrett are both healthy.
Mar 16 - 9:45 PM

John Lucas (ankle) went through shootaround on Sunday, and said he's ready to play if called upon.

Lucas is nothing more than a backup, and he is averaging 4.1 points and essentially nothing else on the season. Leave him on the wire.
Mar 16 - 1:12 PM

John Lucas III (ankle) is a game-time decision for Sunday's game vs. the Spurs.

He is out of his walking boot and has a shot to be active. Lucas is out of the rotation anyway, so he can be ignored everywhere with respect to fantasy leagues.
Mar 15 - 8:14 PM

John Lucas III (ankle) will not play against the Clippers on Friday.

He is out of his walking boot and should make it back in the near future. Still, Lucas has no fantasy value with Trey Burke healthy, Diante Garrett playing well and Alec Burks also handling the ball more.
Mar 14 - 7:28 PM

John Lucas III (ankle) will not play against the Mavericks on Wednesday.

He is in a walking boot and could miss more time. Lucas has fallen to third on the point-guard depth chart and has no fantasy value.
Mar 12 - 7:59 PM

John Lucas sprained his ankle during Tuesday's practice and will be a game-time decision on Wednesday.

Lucas' availability vs. the Mavs shouldn't have any impact on fantasy lineups. He's played five minutes in the past five games combined, and is shooting just 33.7 percent on the season.
Mar 11 - 2:50 PM

John Lucas did not leave Utah's bench during Sunday's loss to the Pacers.

Lucas sat out Friday's shootaround with a stomach ailment but his absence on Sunday was more in line with a DNP-CD. He's played a total of nine minutes in Utah's past nine games.
Mar 2 - 11:09 PM

John Lucas (illness) is questionable for Friday's game against the Cavs.

Per the Jazz, Lucas is dealing with "gastric distress." He was likely to be a DNP-CD anyway.
Feb 28 - 10:53 AM

John Lucas (back) did not play against the Warriors on Friday.

He has a lower back strain from his 21 minutes of action on Monday. Lucas won't have fantasy value in almost any league unless Trey Burke (illness) can't go.
Jan 31 - 3:35 PM

John Lucas missed all seven of his field goal attempts on Wednesday, finishing with one point, one board, no assists and two turnovers in 15 minutes.

He lost his playing time to Diante Garrett tonight, which is pretty much all you need to know about his outlook until Trey Burke is out. Lucas is one the least valuable starting point guard in fantasy right now.
Thu, Nov 14, 2013 01:58:00 AM

John Lucas will start at point guard in Monday night's game against the Nuggets.

He wasn't the starter, but was basically getting starters' minutes at 27.4 per game. Lucas has done a decent job running the offense, but coach Ty Corbin will stick him with the first unit a little more than he's been doing. This isn't much of a bump to his low fantasy value.
