John Lucas will reportedly attend Miami's training camp on a non-guaranteed deal.

Lucas owns career-averages of 4.8 points and 1.5 assists per game on 38.4 percent shooting. Even if he makes Miami's opening-night roster, he won't be worth owning in any league.
Sep 17 - 4:31 PM

John Lucas was reportedly seen working out with some Heat players in advance of training camp.

The Heat are said to be looking for some guard depth heading into training camp, so it's certainly possible Lucas is extended a camp invite. However, he'll have some stiff competition to make the regular-season roster in Miami, so there's no reason to give him a second thought on draft day.
Sep 17 - 4:01 PM

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Pistons are still hoping to re-sign John Lucas.

Lucas has drawn interest from the Magic, Spurs, Mavericks and Clippers, so the Pistons may have to move fast in order to keep him. Lucas saw just 13.0 minutes per game in Detroit last season, so the veteran point guard won't be factor in fantasy leagues regardless of where he lands.
Jul 10 - 1:43 PM

Pistons PG John Lucas III stepped up in 22 minutes off the bench Tuesday, scoring 15 points on 7-of-11 field goals with three assists and two steals.

Lucas also made one 3-pointer, taking full advantage of extra playing time with Reggie Jackson under the weather and Spencer Dinwiddie leaving early with a sprained ankle. Lucas has been nowhere near fantasy relevance since coming to Detroit but that could chance if R-Jax and Dinwiddie both sit out Wednesday's game. Stay tuned.
Mar 31 - 9:57 PM

The Pistons will sign G John Lucas for the remainder of the season according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

With Reggie Jackson running the show in Detroit, Lucas will be battling rookie Spencer Dinwiddie for limited minutes off the bench for the remainder of the season. Leave Lucas on the wire.
Feb 25 - 1:01 PM

John Lucas III is likely to be signed for the remainder of the 2014-15 season after his second 10-day contract expires.

Lucas is nothing more than a backup point guard, and with averages of 4.8 points and 4.2 assists on the season, he's not making a blip on the radar in standard fantasy leagues. Leave him on the wire.
Feb 20 - 1:00 PM

The Pistons have signed John Lucas III to a second 10-day contract.

Once this deal expires, the Pistons will have to decide whether to sign Lucas for the rest of the season or cut him. With their next game nine days away, the team will more or less have to come to that decision over the All-Star break, but fantasy owners can feel free to leave Lucas on the wire regardless.
Feb 12 - 11:06 AM

John Lucas III will get another 10-day contract when his current deal expires according to head coach Stan Van Gundy.

Lucas has beaten out rookie Spencer Dwinwiddie for the backup point guard spot behind D.J. Augustin, but he still won't see enough minutes to make an impact outside of ridiculously deep leagues. Leave Lucas on the wire.
Feb 6 - 12:04 PM

John Lucas III made his debut for the Pistons on Tuesday against the Heat, scoring three points with one board, one assist and one 3-pointer in six minutes.

Lucas is going to be competing for limited minutes as the backup point guard with Spencer Dinwiddie, so there's no need to consider adding him in almost any league. Leave Lucas on the wire.
Feb 3 - 11:53 PM

Pistons sign G John Lucas III to a 10-day contract.

Lucas will serve as the team's third point guard and function as emergency depth.
Feb 2 - 11:20 AM

John Lucas III is reportedly set to sign a 10-day contract with the Pistons.

Lucas would provide some depth at point guard position in Detroit, but as a backup point guard he's not going to be able to offer any fantasy value to teams in standard leagues. He could however cut into the minutes of Spencer Dinwiddie, so that will be something to monitor for owners of Dinwiddie in extremely deep leagues.
Feb 1 - 3:28 PM

John Lucas III has reportedly turned down the chance to workout for the Lakers, and will sign a lucrative deal in China.

We can't blame him for not wanting to join the Lakers, as they have been a mess early on this season. Lucas also wanted a chance to sign with the Bulls but it never came to fruition. Needless to say, you can leave him on the waiver wire in all leagues.

Free agent John Lucas III has reportedly rebuffed interest from teams in the NBA and China, in the hopes of landing a long-term deal with the Bulls.

The Thunder, Pacers and Grizzlies have all reportedly expressed interest in Lucas, but they were likely offering short-term deals without a season-long guarantee. It's doubtful if he'll get such security in Chicago, as Aaron Brooks has been playing very well off the Bulls' bench, but for now he's holding out for a better deal.

John Lucas III is a candidate to join the Oklahoma City Thunder if they are granted an injury exception by Wednesday.

Lucas joins Ish Smith, Diante Garrett, and Michael Jenkins as candidates to be added to Oklahoma City's roster if the exemption is granted by the league. While the Thunder are in desperate need of backcourt depth with Russell Westbrook set to miss the next month, none of the aforementioned players should be picked up in standard fantasy leagues if they sign with OKC.
