This could very well be the end of the line for Roy. There was a clause in his contract that allowed the Wolves to terminate his two-year deal after one year if his knees weren't healthy. After appearing in just five games this season, it's clear he's shot. Once a rising young superstar in the league, Roy was felled by seven career knee surgeries. Now 28, the 2007 Rookie of the Year and three-time All-Star is unlikely to get another chance. Brandon Roy (knee), who is traveling with the Timberwolves, is hoping to play "at least one more time" this season, according to Ric Bucher.

Roy is reportedly targeting either April 13 or April 15, and before anyone gets too excited, it's possible he'll simply play a couple of minutes in order to get a basket. Bucher reports that Roy is hoping to continue his career, but it's hard to see how he'll ever be healthy enough to play 50-plus games again.

Well, that came out of nowhere. Roy was considered a long shot to play again this season due to ongoing knee issues, but his "tender right knee is improving," and Roy likely wants to play in at least one more game before being forced to make yet another decision on his playing career.

Brandon Roy hopes to begin practicing when the Wolves return from their current road trip, and he believes he can return to action in "a week or two."

It should also be noted that Roy "has no idea how much or what level at which he'll play if he returns," according to beat writer Jerry Zgoda. All bets are off where Roy's knees are concerned -- it's great to hear that he's not yet ready to retire, but fantasy owners shouldn't look to him for reliable value.

Beat writer Jerry Zgoda writes that there has been "no sign" of Roy practicing nor any sign of his return being "anywhere in sight." At this point, if Roy does return, it should be considered a pleasant surprise as time is running out on his career in the NBA.

Kahn said the final decision is up to Roy and the Wolves aren't counting on anything at this point. Roy has refused to walk away from the NBA despite chronic knee issues, but the Wolves have reportedly engaged his agent in buyout talks and appear ready to move on. With every day that passes, it's more and more unlikely Roy will play again this season.

The Timberwolves have engaged Brandon Roy's agent in contract buyout discussions, according to ESPN 1500.

"I think I was pretty clear when I spoke to the media back in late December that I was clear with Brandon that every option was on the table and would be discussed," David Kahn said. Roy has shown an unwillingness to walk away and is not interested in retiring at the moment, but it's looking less and less likely that Roy will play again this season.

Brandon Roy, who experienced a setback with his knee and is out indefinitely, acknowledged that he's at a "crossroad" in his career.

It's possible we've seen the last of Roy in the NBA, and the former lottery pick is considering retirement if he can't get his knee right this season. "I look at it at it like this has got to be the last season," he said. "I don't have any regrets because I know I tried to give it another season." Roy could consider coaching in the future, and this is a sad way for his career to potentially end.

Brandon Roy (knee) said Thursday he suffered another setback recently but is hopeful he'll play again this season.

Roy is at the point where has to make up his mind about whether he can realistically play this season and this latest setback certainly doesn't help his chances of that. We remain highly skeptical he'll play again this season and it's fair to wonder if he'll ever be healthy enough to play in the league again.

Brandon Roy (knee) is "in a position where he just has to make up his mind if he feels he can be productive this year or not," according to owner Glen Taylor.

Roy remains out indefinitely, and according to Taylor, Roy is "right in the middle of that now." We're not counting on Roy to contribute to fantasy rosters again this year but we hope that this isn't the end of the line for him.

It sounds like Roy would be available around the All-Star break, at the earliest. Fantasy owners can't count on him to contribute and there is no guarantee he'll be able to make it back this season.
