Shawne Williams looks like the starting power forward for the Heat, at least until Josh McRoberts is ready to go.
Williams hasn't blown anyone's doors off this preseason and had seven points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and a 3-pointer on Tuesday. He did score 19 last Friday, but has scored eight or fewer points in five of his last six preseason games. But if you're in a deep league and need a starter late, it looks like Williams will be there until McBob is back from his toe surgery. Oct 21 - 11:25 PM

Shawne Williams is starting at PF and Norris Cole is starting at SG for the Heat on Tuesday.

It's thought that this is a dress rehearsal for opening night, and if so, Williams and Cole will be joined by Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng and Chris Bosh as starters. Cole has started every game since the preseason opener (over Mario Chalmers) and Williams has been starting over injured Josh McRoberts. Both potential starters have some fantasy intrigue for now.

Shawne Williams started at power forward once again and scored 19 points with a perfect 5-of-5 mark from the 3-point line on Friday.

Williams added seven rebounds and a steal in his 32 minutes and looks like a real good fit as the starting power forward until Josh McRoberts returns. You're not going to spend a lot on Williams, but if we get word that McBob is going to miss some time he can certainly help an owner early on in the year.
Oct 18 - 2:13 AM

Shawne Williams started at power forward for the Heat on Tuesday and hit 1-of-7 shots (a 3-pointer) for four points, four rebounds and an assist in 20 minutes.

Josh McRoberts and Udonis Haslem were out tonight, but you have to think the starting job will go to McBob once he's over his toe injury. Ignore Williams in fantasy drafts, but do keep an eye on him in case he continues to start.
Oct 7 - 11:56 PM

Shawne Williams started at power forward for the Heat's first unit in Wednesday's scrimmage.

Chris Andersen (undisclosed) and Josh McRoberts (toe) were both held out tonight, clearing the way for Williams to start. It doesn't mean much, but the Heat clearly won't hesitate to use Williams at either forward spot this season.
Oct 1 - 8:56 PM

Shawne Williams' contract with the Heat is fully guaranteed for the first season and has a team option for the second.

That means he's expected to make the team this season, which seemed questionable on Friday when the team announced the deal. Williams will give the Heat some range from the 3-point line while he'll also provide some decent size. He is not a lock for consistent minutes.
Aug 2 - 9:38 AM

Heat sign F Shawne Williams.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed and it's probably not guaranteed. Williams drew 13 starts with the Lakers last season and even had a 20-point effort on Nov. 29, but he may have just been a system guy with Mike D'Antoni. The Heat have some depth concerns at small forward, so Williams has a chance to make the team.
Aug 1 - 1:26 PM

Shawne Williams' 10-day contract with the Lakers will expire on Sunday.

He logged 35 minutes in a start at PF vs. the Thunder on Thursday and it wouldn't be surprising to see him re-signed, though L.A. may wait until their next game on Wednesday or until the Feb. 20 deadline to maximize their roster flexibility.

Shawne Williams played 35 minutes and had 15 points, nine boards, one steal, two blocks and three 3-pointers against the Thunder on Thursday.

He started out hot with 13 points in the first half and the Lakers really counted on him tonight. Williams fizzled out back in the 2013 part of the season and he's far from a reliable asset, but it's not a bad idea to pick him up and see what happens in deeper leagues.
Feb 14 - 1:35 AM

Shawne Williams started over Ryan Kelly on Tuesday and hit 4-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks in a loss to the Jazz.

Kelly had just three points in 18 minutes, but it's hard to say who Mike D'Antoni will start from night to night. If Williams happens to keep the job, he might be worth a pick up. But as of now, he's just another Laker no-name who had a decent night on Tuesday.
Feb 12 - 1:51 AM

Mike D'Antoni will send out a new starting lineup with Shawne Williams at PF for Tuesday's game vs. the Jazz.

Williams has started 11 games this season and the results have been unimpressive, with averages of 4.5 points on 38.8 percent shooting, 4.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game. He may chip in a few 3-pointers and blocks but there's too much risk to use him in 12-team leagues.
Feb 11 - 2:19 PM

Shawne Williams scored four points with three rebounds and two steals in 13 minutes on Friday against the Sixers.

Williams is in his second stint with the Lakers this season and this was his first game since returning to the team. As you can see he didn't do much and we'll let you know if that changes.
Feb 7 - 10:21 PM

Lakers sign F Shawne Williams.

L.A. waived him in early January but they're dusting him off with Jodie Meeks (ankle) and Nick Young (knee) joining the parade of injured Lakers players. Williams even started 11 games earlier this season, but overall he averaged just 5.2 points on 37.7 percent shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks.
Feb 6 - 4:40 PM

Shawne Williams agreed to terms on a deal with the Los Angeles Defenders on Monday.

The Lakers waived him back on Jan. 7 and apparently he couldn't get any other interest from another team. Williams will likely come up with the Lakers at some point, but he won't have much fantasy value.
Jan 27 - 3:25 PM

Lakers waived F Shawne Williams.

It's a bit of a surprise considering Williams has played 20.2 minutes per game this season and started 11 times, averaging 5.2 points and 4.5 boards. But the Lakers didn't want to guarantee his contract for the whole season, so they'll lean more on Robert Sacre, Jordan Hill and Ryan Kelly. Williams was shooting just 37.7 percent from the field.
