Shawne Williams hit two 3-pointers in Friday's 105-103 loss to the Wizards, finishing with just eight points and three rebounds in 24 minutes.
Williams has all of the opportunity in the world with Chris Bosh (calf) out indefinitely and Josh McRoberts (knee) starting down a season-ender. He hasn't done anything with it so far but it wouldn't be surprising if he got hot so keep an eye on him. Dec 20 - 1:38 AM

Shawne Williams will start Friday vs. the Wizards, sending Justin Hamilton to the bench.

Williams has been struggling lately, but he's a more effective player than Justin Hamilton and it'll be interesting to see how he fares returning to the starting unit. Chris Bosh (calf) is without a timetable to return, and Josh McRoberts (knee) could be done for the season, so the opportunity is there for Williams. He's worth a speculative add, but he has a tough matchup tonight vs. Washington.

Shawne Williams came off the bench on Wednesday, hitting 2-of-7 shots and a 3-pointer for five points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal in 29 minutes.

The minutes were great, as he played just 19 of them on Tuesday. He's struggled recently, but with Chris Bosh out indefinitely and Josh McRoberts likely out for the season, Williams still has a chance to make some noise in Miami. Just keep an eye on him.
Dec 18 - 1:05 AM

Shawne Williams came off the bench on Wednesday and hit just 2-of-5 shots for six points and one rebound.

He played just 18 minutes and has finally given way to Josh McRoberts in the starting lineup. It's time to dump Williams and find a warm body off the waiver wire, even though McBob has yet to do much of anything.
Dec 4 - 12:36 AM

Shawne Williams will shift to Miami's bench on Wednesday with Josh McRoberts taking over as the starting PF.

Williams' starting job has been tentative ever since McRoberts returned from offseason toe surgery, and coach Erik Spoelstra finally decided to make the switch. Williams has enough potential as a 3-point specialist to be worth considering in deeper leagues as a reserve, but most owners can move along.
Dec 3 - 6:52 PM

Shawne Williams played 25 minutes against the Clippers on Tuesday with seven points, three boards, two assists and one 3-pointer.

He has his fair share of duds and his output figures to have an inverse relationship to Josh McRoberts' minutes. Williams' fantasy owners should expect his fantasy value to have an expiration date in a couple weeks.
Nov 20 - 11:14 PM

Shawne Williams is shooting 59 percent from behind the three-point line over his last nine games.

Williams is a blistering 26-of-44 over that stretch of games. With Josh McRoberts (toe) again struggling to stay on the floor, Williams has a real opportunity to continue making a difference for fantasy owners in the 3-point category.
Nov 17 - 1:10 PM

Shawne Williams had his first double-double of the season on Sunday, scoring 13 points with three 3-pointers and 11 rebounds vs. the visiting Bucks.

Josh McRoberts (toe blister) is day-to-day and his return will take a hefty chunk out of Williams' playing time, so despite his excellent recent play owners should tread lightly before starting Williams in weekly formats. He added one assist but didn't have any steals or blocks, and his fantasy value is tethered to his scoring and perimeter shooting.
Nov 16 - 8:52 PM

Shawne Williams scored a season-high 21 points against the Hawks on Friday with six rebounds, one assist, one block, one steal and five 3-pointers in 33 minutes.

He capitalized on Josh McRoberts (toe) not playing tonight and also had more shots go his way with Dwyane Wade (hamstring) out. Williams is more of a short-term plug-and-play guy than a reliable asset in standard leagues.
Nov 14 - 11:17 PM

Shawne Williams bounced back from a bad night on Sunday with 15 points and four 3-pointers in 22 minutes on Wednesday.

He hit 5-of-6 shots, but the writing is on the wall. His minutes are declining and Josh McRoberts is slowly getting healthy. Eventually, Williams should return quietly to the bench, and he's not going to shoot it this well on most nights.
Nov 12 - 10:59 PM

Shawne Williams played a season-low 19 minutes on Sunday, finishing a road win vs. the Mavericks with seven points, one 3-pointer and two rebounds.

Until Sunday, Williams had been playing 30 minutes per game despite the return of Josh McRoberts (toe). He hasn't contributed much this season beyond 3-pointers, chipping in a mediocre 10.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.8 blocks per game, so any dip in playing time could lead to irrelevance in standard leagues.
Nov 9 - 10:16 PM

Shawne Williams could get some minutes at backup center against the Mavericks on Saturday.

Miami is very thin up front right now. Justin Hamilton (groin) is out while Udonis Haslem (quad) and Chris Andersen (ribs) are up in the air. The team is still keeping Josh McRoberts' minutes down, so Williams could be very busy against one of his former teams.
Nov 7 - 2:55 PM

Shawne Williams is starting at power forward against the Hornets on Wednesday.

There was never really a doubt and Josh McRoberts is on a minutes limit. If you need triples in a pinch, Williams is worth a look in deep leagues.
Nov 5 - 6:19 PM

Shawne Williams started at power forward again on Sunday, and scored 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting, while adding five rebounds, one steal, one block, and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes.

He got the nod over Josh McRoberts (toe), who is still easing himself back into action. McRoberts is going to start once he is fully fit, but Williams has proved to be a reliable option for Miami and is a decent play if McRoberts comes off the bench again.
Nov 2 - 9:24 PM

Shawne Williams started at power forward and played 32 minutes, but hit just 1-of-9 shots for three points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals on Wednesday.

He was 0-for-6 from downtown, but if he continues to start at PF for the Heat, he's worth keeping a close eye on in fantasy leagues, at least until Josh McRoberts is back in action.
