The Bucks have officially waived Shawne Williams.
Williams will now become an unrestricted free agent, but it's not clear at this point if there are any teams currently interested. He could have to fight for a roster spot playing on a Summer League squad, but either way, he's going to be a negligible option in most fantasy leagues. Jun 30 - 5:55 PM

Shawne Williams has reportedly been sent to the Pistons as part of the Ersan Ilyasova trade.

Williams will be backing up Jabari Parker (knee) in Milwaukee, but after averaging just 5.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointer per game during the 2014-15 season, there's not a lot to like here from a fantasy perspective. Ersan being traded away will open up plenty of minutes for Parker, and will also grant the Bucks some cap space in ridding themselves of Ilyasova's pricey contract. Parker, however, is coming off an ACL tear that prematurely ended his rookie campaign, so he'll be a risky selection in next year's fantasy drafts.
Jun 11 - 3:38 PM

Pistons F Shawne Williams shot 0-of-4 from the field on Tuesday, scoring two points with two rebounds and zero assists, steals or blocks.

He's now a combined 1-of-19 from downtown since joining the Pistons. It's a trend that's unlikely to continue, as he was hitting at a 39.5 percent clip with Miami earlier this season, but at some point Stan Van Gundy might decide to bench Williams in favor of Cartier Martin or Quincy Miller. Williams clearly isn't worth owning while ice-cold.
Mar 31 - 9:58 PM

Shawne Williams (illness) will play Tuesday vs. the Raptors.

Williams will may be able to see his minutes in the teens tonight with Greg Monroe (knee) sidelined, but with averages of just 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds per game with the Pistons, he can't be viewed as a viable option in most leagues.
Mar 24 - 6:12 PM

Shawne Williams (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Celtics.

With both Greg Monroe (knee) and Williams sidelined, Anthony Tolliver is going to get all the run he can handle. However, Tolliver will look to bounce back from Saturday's disappointing outing in which he scored just four points through 22 minutes of action without connecting on a single 3-pointer. He has a more favorable matchup today, but he remains a risky option in daily leagues.
Mar 22 - 4:44 PM

Shawne Williams (illness) will not play against the Bulls on Saturday.

He missed shootaround this morning and the Pistons won't miss him much. With Williams out, expect Anthony Tolliver and Joel Anthony to get more run.
Mar 21 - 6:29 PM

Shawne Williams (illness) missed shootaround on Saturday and is up in the air for tonight's game against the Bulls.

He was in the rotation now that Greg Monroe is out, but only played 12.0 minutes per game in his last two. If he's out, Anthony Tolliver will play a little more while Joel Anthony could get up to 20 minutes.
Mar 21 - 6:09 PM

Pistons' head coach Stan Van Gundy said that there will be "a lot of minutes" for Shawne Williams on Tuesday with Greg Monroe (knee) unavailable.

Williams will be active tonight after serving his one game suspension, and he'll have plenty of opportunity. Williams has proven that when given the minutes, he has the ability to produce in points and 3-pointers, so he's someone to consider as a streamer option in deep leagues.
Mar 17 - 6:24 PM

Shawne Williams has been suspended for one game.

He got into it with Joel Freeland and exchanged head-butts. Williams is not in the rotation and can be ignored everywhere.
Mar 14 - 4:54 PM

Shawne Williams logged 15 minutes off the Pistons' bench on Sunday, posting four points, two rebounds and two assists.

He missed both of his 3-point attempts and his arrival in Detroit damages Anthony Tolliver (four points in 17 minutes) without giving Williams any fantasy appeal. We'll let you know if he does anything to merit attention in 14-team leagues.
Mar 8 - 9:07 PM

Stan Van Gundy said that claiming Shawne Williams off of waivers "was an easy decision," and he heaped praise on him following his first practice with the team.

"We like to play a good part of the game, two-thirds of it, with the floor spread out," said Van Gundy. "And he gives us another guy, so if we hit foul trouble or injury or anything, we've got another guy to protect us and who I think we can go forward with into next year." While SVG does like what he has, it sounds like he doesn't plan on using his newly acquired asset unless Detroit gets hit by injuries or foul trouble, thus removing Williams from the standard league conversation.
Feb 27 - 9:19 AM

The Pistons have reportedly claimed Shawne Williams off waivers.

Williams will slot into the backup power forward slot in Detroit, and he'll now be fighting for reserve minutes with Anthony Tolliver. Both these guys could be headed for a timeshare, and this is a situation that should be avoided in most leagues.
Feb 24 - 5:35 PM

The Pelicans have waived forward Shawne Williams on Sunday.

Williams will likely land on another NBA team for his ability to stretch the floor, but it's hard to imagine him having any significant fantasy value this season. Leave Williams on the wire.
Feb 22 - 11:05 AM

The Pelicans intend to buyout Shawne Williams, whom they acquired as part of Thursday's trade for Norris Cole.

Williams is making $1.2 million this year but the Pelicans have enough help at SF that they're willing to cut him loose. It shouldn't take him long to find a team looking to pad their bench with a 39.5 percent 3-point shooter.
Feb 19 - 4:27 PM

Shawne Williams has been traded to the Pelicans.

The Heat didn't play him at small forward much, but he may play there with his new team. Williams is far from a lock to be in the rotation and isn't worth owning in almost any league.
