Thabo Sefolosha (knee surgery) said he's done some light jogging and shooting, but he's still about a month away from resuming normal basketball activities.
Sefolosha will spend most of his summer rehabbing in Switzerland, but he should be fully recovered by the time the 2018-19 season kicks off. He will, however, be suspended for the first five games next year due to violating the NBA's Anti-Drug Program. May 9 - 1:13 PM

Thabo Sefolosha has been suspended for five games for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.

Sefolosha had knee surgery back in January to repair an avulsion of his MCL. He was expected to miss the rest of the season. Per the NBA's press release, Sefolosha's suspension will begin with the next NBA regular season or playoff game for which he is eligible and physically able to play.
Apr 3 - 12:45 PM

Thabo Sefolosha had right knee surgery on Wednesday.

He is expected to miss the rest of the season to repair an avulsion of his MCL. With Sefolosha out, Jonas Jerebko will likely stick in the starting lineup while Royce O'Neale should stick in the rotation. The Jazz need Rudy Gobert (knee) back.
Jan 17 - 7:52 PM

Thabo Sefolosha is scheduled to undergo season-ending knee surgery on Wednesday.

We'll have a firm timetable once he goes under the knife, but he's done for the year regardless. It looks like Jonas Jerebko will be Utah's starting four-man until Rudy Gobert (knee) get back to the court, and Royce O'Neale could be looking at minutes in the 20s. Neither of those guys offers much fantasy value at all, though.

While season-ending knee surgery is still on the table for Thabo Sefolosha, he and his camp are reportedly still going over his options to correct the right MCL injury.

Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reported on Saturday that Sefolosha is expected to undergo season-ending knee surgery, but it sounds like Sefolosha is trying to avoid going under the knife. Surgery still seems like the most likely scenario, and with just late-round value on the year, there's not much reason to hang onto Thabo.
Jan 14 - 2:12 PM

Thabo Sefolosha is expected to undergo season-ending knee surgery on his right MCL, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports.

Sefolosha suffered the injury during Friday's loss to the Hornets, and unfortunately, his season is over. Jonas Jerebko will likely be the Jazz's starting four-man until Rudy Gobert (knee) can get back to the court, and Sefolosha's absence should also open up some minutes for Joe Johnson. However, neither Johnson nor Jerebko offers enough upside to warrant a pick up in most 12-team leagues. Sefolosha's timetable is expected to be set at six months, so he should be cut everywhere.
Jan 13 - 4:54 PM

Thabo Sefolosha has been diagnosed with a right knee sprain and will not return to Friday's game vs. the Hornets.

Sefolosha was doing some work on the sidelines when the Jazz ruled him out, so hopefully he's just day-to-day. Joe Johnson could pick up some minutes if Sefolosha misses time, while Jonas Jerebko would also be a candidate depending on the matchup. Sefolosha finished with seven points, four rebounds, two assists, one block and one triple.

Jan 12 - 8:46 PM

Thabo Sefolosha and Derrick Favors (ankle) will be in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Hornets.

With both these guys in the starting five, the corresponding move will likely be Jonas Jerebko and Ekpe Udoh returning to the bench, and both those guys will lose a lot of value with the demotion to the second unit. Sefolosha has played well as a starter this season with averages of 10.6 points, 8.0 boards, 1.2 assists and 3.0 steals per contest, so he could be someone to think about as a streamer in deep leagues.
Jan 12 - 6:06 PM

Thabo Sefolosha had just two points and one steal in nine minutes off the bench on Wednesday.

Before the game, coach Quin Snyder said that Thabo would "probably" play tonight -- the Jazz hadn't played since Sunday, so this looks like a lineup decision and not based on Snyder wanting to rest his veteran swingman. Thabo is a steals specialist when getting enough minutes, but his role is far too chaotic to trust.
Jan 10 - 11:27 PM

Thabo Sefolosha will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Wizards.

As a reserve this season, Sefolosha has posted averages of 8.1 points, 3.8 boards and 1.2 steals per game, which is a fairly large dropoff in production from his starter numbers. He's not a great target in most leagues tonight with a tough matchup and diminished role.
Jan 10 - 6:41 PM

Thabo Sefolosha didn't miss a shot during Sunday's narrow loss to Miami, finishing with 13 points, six boards, two assists, one 3-pointer, three steals, one block and two turnovers in 29 minutes.

Sefolosha was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, 1-of-1 from distance and 4-of-4 from the stripe, giving him a remarkable 112.8 true shooting percentage on the evening. He’s played well as a starter this season, posting averages of 10.6 points, 8.0 boards, 3.0 steals and 0.6 swats per contest, so he’s on the radar as a potential steals-specialist in deep leagues.
Jan 7 - 7:03 PM

Thabo Sefolosha scored 10 points with five rebounds, one assist, one block, two steals and one 3-pointer in 21 minutes in a start against the Nuggets on Friday.

He didn't play in the last game, so Sefolosha and Jonas Jerebko flipped roles today. You'll want to find another situation to attack in fantasy unless you're playing DFS. Thabo gets decent run against stronger wing scorers.
Jan 6 - 1:21 AM

Thabo Sefolosha will start on Friday vs. the Nuggets, sending Jonas Jerebko to the bench.

Sefolosha didn't even play on Wednesday vs. the Pelicans, but saw 31 and 33 minutes in the previous two. The Jazz are going small to matchup with the Nuggets, so this is a temporary move. He's a low-end fantasy asset and isn't a great option on a 10-game night.
Jan 5 - 8:33 PM

Thabo Sefolosha finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds across 31 minutes in Saturday's 104-101 victory against the visiting Cavaliers.

The double-double looks nice on paper, but he was an ugly 3-for-11 from the field while going 0-for-4 from behind the 3-point line. He was able to chip in with three steals and an assist, too, while turning it over just once. He has had a strange week, as he has started the past two games after being a DNP-CD on Tuesday night. Fantasy owners do not care for that type of uncertainty.
Sat, Dec 30, 2017 11:45:00 PM

Thabo Sefolosha will start against Warriors on Wednesday night.

This comes after a DNP-CD and presumably he starts over Jonas Jerebko. The Jazz will want another perimeter defender out there and Thabo will probably be guarding Kevin Durant. Not much fantasy value shifting here.
