Thabo Sefolosha will not play for Switzerland's national team during this summer's qualifying games for EuroBasket.
The Swiss team surprisingly defeated Russia in their first game but they'll have to continue the success without Sefolosha, who doesn't want to risk getting injured. His fantasy outlook is bleak as a backup SG for the Hawks, who signed him this summer for $12 million over three years. Aug 12 - 4:53 PM

The Hawks acquired Thabo Sefolosha in a sign-and-trade with the Thunder, with OKC receiving a $4 million traded-player exception and the draft rights to Sofoklis Schortsanitis.

Sefolosha's deal is worth a reported $12 million over three years. In addition, the Hawks will get the draft rights to Giorgos Printezis and some cash. Needless to say, neither Printezis nor Schortsanitis need to be on fantasy owners' radars.

Thabo Sefolosha is happy to have landed in Atlanta, and he "feels great" about his new contract.

Sefolosha also admitted that he could sense his time in Oklahoma City was coming to an end with the way the season ended. "The last month of basketball was a little bit tough and head-scratching for me," said Thabo. "Going from the starting five to not playing at all... I just didn’t think that it was the right decision to make as far as the coach’s decision of putting me on the bench... I think if I played more minutes maybe we could have beat San Antonio." That's a bold statement from a guy who was contributing goose eggs to the box score, but his seeming inability to contribute didn't deter the Hawks from offering him $12 million over three-years. It's easy to see why Sefolosha is so happy with his new deal.
Jul 4 - 1:15 PM

The Hawks came to terms with Thabo Sefolosha on a three-year, $12 million deal.

This is a curious deal for the Hawks with their sizable cap space. Sefolosha was a major letdown last season and could barely even stay on the court for the Thunder in the postseason. He won't have much fantasy value and this move hurts the chances of the Hawks making a big signing.
Jul 3 - 3:29 PM

Free agent Thabo Sefolosha met with the Wizards on Wednesday.

No word of how the meeting went, but it doesn't sound like an offer has been made as of yet. The Wizards broke the bank to re-sign C Marcin Gortat, but might be able to scrape together enough cash to land defensive specialist Sefolosha.
Jul 2 - 9:47 PM

Unrestricted free agent Thabo Sefolosha has been contacted by the Clippers, Mavericks and Rockets, but there are no meetings scheduled.

Sefolosha has not yet been contacted by the Thunder, which isn't altogether surprising with Jeremy Lamb and Andre Roberson ready to take on bigger roles in 2014-15. No matter where he lands, Thabo is a marginal fantasy option who should go undrafted in typical eight-cat leagues.
Jul 1 - 3:20 PM

Thabo Sefolosha is "unlikely to return" with the Thunder as a free agent, according to beat writer Darnell Mayberry.

This sounds like an informed guess rather than a report, but it makes sense given Sefolosha's abrupt fall from the rotation in the postseason. The Thunder have Jeremy Lamb and Andre Roberson on the roster and may look to sign a starting-caliber SG in free agency, which is welcome news for fantasy owners -- Sefolosha's occasional steals and 3-pointers last year weren't enough for value in eight-cat leagues, and he missed 21 games due to injury.

Jun 18 - 9:51 AM

Thabo Sefolosha said on Sunday that he has "no clue" if he'll be back with the Thunder next year.

If the past four games are any indication, he's not going to be back. Sefolosha played just eight minutes combined in the last four games and quickly fell out of favor with coach Scott Brooks. The Thunder don't have any issues on the perimeter, so they'd probably be better suited to sign a big man.
Jun 1 - 3:30 PM

Thabo Sefolosha did not leave the Thunder bench on Sunday.

Thabo started Games 1 and 2 of the Western Conference finals but he was scoreless on 0-of-9 shooting in those losses. Thunder coach Scott Brooks opted to start Reggie Jackson at SG, with Caron Butler and Jeremy Lamb providing support off the bench, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Thabo rack up another DNP-CD on Tuesday.
May 25 - 11:11 PM

Thabo Sefolosha is back in the starting lineup for Game 1 vs. the Clippers.

Caron Butler moved into the starting lineup for the last two games of the Memphis series and even played a whopping 41 minutes in Game 7 on Saturday. The Clippers play a different style on offense, so swapping out Butler's offense for Thabo's defense makes sense. The Clippers attempted 26.4 shots from deep in the first round vs. the Warriors and that will be a big factor in this series.
May 5 - 7:49 PM

Thabo Sefolosha was a DNP-CD on Thursday night vs. the Grizzlies.

Caron Butler got the start and that spelled big trouble for Thabo tonight. He's not really the type of guy who can shine in the second unit and the starters don't need him to do anything offensively since Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant ranked one and two in the NBA for usage rate this season. Sefolosha could be riding pine in Game 7 on Saturday. Butler played 29 minutes with seven points, four boards, three assists, one steal and two 3-pointers.
May 1 - 11:11 PM

Thabo Sefolosha returned from a 17-game absence with a calf injury and failed to score in 15 minutes on Tuesday.

We expect Thabo to play in all of the remaining games for the Thunder in order to get ready for the playoffs, but that doesn't mean you should put him into your fantasy lineup.
Apr 9 - 12:42 AM

Thabo Sefolosha, who has missed 17 straight games, is expected to play limited minutes on Tuesday.

He's been out with a calf injury and the Thunder will try to get him ready for the postseason. No word yet on whether Russell Westbrook is in or out, but from earlier indications, it would be surprising to see him play tonight.
Apr 8 - 8:34 PM

Thabo Sefolosha (calf) missed his 17th consecutive game on Sunday.

He began practicing on a limited basis on Wednesday but the Thunder haven't pegged a clear return date. Andre Roberson ceded the starting SG job to Derek Fisher after halftime on Sunday, with Caron Butler (26 minutes) and Reggie Jackson (33) playing increased roles off the bench.
Apr 7 - 12:13 AM

Thabo Sefolosha (calf) will not play on Thursday, though he practiced on a limited basis for the first time since his injury on Wednesday.

Sefolosha can be considered day-to-day at this point, not that fantasy owners are clamoring to see him on the court. Caron Butler and Andre Roberson will lose playing time upon Thabo's return.
