Shannon Brown reiterated his distaste for his current role with the Suns.
It's tough to blame him considering Lindsey Hunter looks overmatched and the entier Suns organization is riddled with questions. "I did what I needed to do as a starter and handled my business," he said. "For some reason, they want to cut my legs from under me." Brown went on to say he was lied to by "the people in charge," and it's hard to envision a scenario where he returns to Phoenix next year. Apr 15 - 10:43 AM

Shannon Brown said "I don't know what's going on" when asked about his role on the Suns.

After sitting from February 19 through March 9, Brown was called to play eight minutes on Monday, scoring two points and grabbing one rebound. He's obviously not a fantasy asset in any format right now, but it's not a good sign for anyone in the Suns organization when players are making comments like this.
Mar 13 - 9:30 AM

Shannon Brown has not played in any of the last four games, and he's not currently in Lindsey Hunter's rotation.

Hunter has drawn extreme scrutiny since taking over the head coaching job, and frankly, he looks like someone who is learning how to coach an NBA team on the fly. "I honestly don't think what's going on is supposed to be going on," Brown said. There is seemingly a divide among Suns players as to who is in Hunter's corner and who isn't, and the entire organization is a downright mess. "Bitching about it ain't going to do nothing. There's no loyalty nowhere." It's safe to say Brown is not happy with his new role.
Feb 25 - 9:52 AM

Shannon Brown scored 20 points off the bench on Friday, hitting 7-of-11 shots (including a three) with two rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 23 minutes.

Brown is as inconsistent as they come and is generally more the problem than answer in Phoenix on most nights. We're going to wait for him to get hot before talking about an add, and by then it will probably be time for him to cool down again.
Feb 2 - 1:50 AM

Shannon Brown had just eight points, two rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block on 3-of-8 shooting in Wednesday's win.

Brown has really cooled off and seen his minutes slip lately, and hasn't scored more than nine points in any of his last four games. There should be plenty of hot free agents out there (Michael Beasley, Jimmy Butler, Nate Robinson, etc.) and dropping Brown for one of them makes sense right now.
Jan 31 - 1:32 AM

Shannon Brown played just 15 minutes on Sunday to finish with six points, three rebounds and one assist, a night after being ejected on a flagrant foul.

This is not good, as Brown was pretty hot until Saturday's ejection. His hot streak appears to be officially over, but he could easily start another one at any time. If you need to cut him for a hot free agent, it probably makes sense.
Jan 27 - 10:50 PM

Shannon Brown was ejected for a flagrant-2 foul for hitting Manu Ginobili with his forearm.

It was a hard foul and he'll probably be hearing from the league office. He finished with four points, two boards and one assist, so there's nothing to suggest he'll be worth owning in most leagues with new coach Lindsey Hunter.
Jan 26 - 10:23 PM

Shannon Brown scored 12 points off the bench in a 106-96 win over the Kings with two rebounds, three assists, four steals and one 3-pointer on Wednesday.

He played 29 minutes and was in the lineup for the clutch minutes down the stretch of Wednesday's game. Brown fell out of favor pretty quickly for inconsistent play, so he isn't worth picking up in most fantasy leagues just yet. P.J. Tucker started and played 23 minutes, but former coach Alvin Gentry liked him and Tucker could lose some playing time with Lindsey Hunter taking over.
Jan 24 - 1:25 AM

Shannon Brown scored 20 points to go with five rebounds, two assists and four steals in 29 minutes against the Bucks on Thursday.

Brown had fallen out of favor with Alvin Gentry before Jared Dudley's hand injury, but he's picked it back up lately. He's not quite worth owning in standard leagues, but P.J. Tucker (eight points in 22 minutes) has lost his momentum and Brown might be on the upswing. Just keep an eye on him for now.
Jan 18 - 12:21 AM

Shannon Brown scored 21 points in 43 minutes in a loss to the Thunder on Monday, adding three rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks and two 3-pointers.

His 43 minutes set a season high and he picked up most of Jared Dudley's minutes. Brown was ice cold before Dudley went down, making just 1-of-22 attempts from beyond the arc, but he definitely didn't disappoint with his opportunity in his last two games. Dudley could play on Thursday, so we'd leave Brown on the wire in most formats.
Jan 15 - 12:42 AM

Shannon Brown started at SG in place of Jared Dudley (hand) on Saturday, scoring 11 points with four rebounds, two steals and one block.

Brown knocked down 4-of-6 field goals, including one 3-pointer. Unfortunately for anyone who spot-started him tonight, the Suns' bench got hot, the score got out of hand, and Brown ended up playing just 25 minutes while backup Wes Johnson played 23 minutes. Dudley is day-to-day.
Jan 12 - 11:16 PM

Shannon Brown struggled coming off the bench on Friday, missing all four of his shots to finish with zero points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 21 minutes.

Brown has not taken to his new role very well, and it's not surprising to see him get phased out when he's not hitting his shot. He struggles with defensive concepts and has poor shot selection, and with low upside he's not worth waiting on when he's not producing.
Jan 5 - 4:52 AM

Shannon Brown came off the bench again on Wednesday and had 12 points, three boards, two assists and a steal on 6-of-12 shooting in 25 minutes.

P.J. Tucker is starting over him for now, but it remains to be seen how long Alvin Gentry is going to stick with that plan. Brown played well tonight, but would be a much more attractive option if he were in the starting lineup. Hold him for now and see what happens in the next couple games, as Brown was averaging 13 points, a steal and a 3-pointer as a starter.
Jan 3 - 1:37 AM

Shannon Brown will move to the bench temporarily on Monday, allowing P.J. Tucker to defend Kevin Durant as a starter.

Jared Dudley will shift to SG but this is a matchup-based shuffle, and Alvin Gentry has already said that Brown will resume starting against the 76ers on Wednesday. Tucker doesn't have appeal as a spot-starter and Brown's numbers shouldn't take too big of a hit.
Mon, Dec 31, 2012 02:54:00 PM

Shannon Brown finished Saturday's game with 21 points, one 3-pointer, six rebounds, three assists and zero turnovers.

Brown was coming off a few rough games earlier this week but he sank 9-of-17 field goals tonight and continues to play unfettered minutes as the starting SG.
