The Knicks could be looking to add Scottie Pippen as an assistant coach.
General manager Steve Mills talked with Pippen for about 15 minutes on Thursday while at the NBA Draft Combine to gauge the Hall of Famer's interest, but Pippen said nothing is clear or imminent. "I haven’t talked to Phil [Jackson]," Pippen said. "I have to wait until that time comes. Right now nothing’s out there. I’m not going to say whether I’m interested or not until it happens.’’ May 15 - 9:06 PM

The Bulls have named Scottie Pippen as a senior advisor to team president/COO Michael Reinsdorf.

Pippen's storied NBA career ended in 2004, though he played professionally as late as 2008, when he played a few games as a ringer for teams in Finland and Sweden. He has been an "ambassador" for the Bulls for the past few years and it's no surprise to see him granted an official role with the franchise.

Scottie Pippen and Karl Malone are among the 19 finalists for the Hall of Fame's class of 2010.

Although "The Mailman" never won a title, he's a two-time MVP and one of the greatest true power forwards to ever play. Pippen won six championships and was a seven-time All-Star. Both appear to be locks for induction. Other finalists include Chris Mullin, Dennis Johnson and fantasy's favorite coach, Don Nelson.

Former NBA star Scottie Pippen had nine points and nine rebounds to help Finland league leader Torpan Pojat beat Honka 98-85 on Saturday.

"It was great. I did not know what to anticipate without a game for the last three years," the 42-year-old Pippen said. "My conditioning is not at the top level, but I played with a great team and had a lot of fun." The former NBA great had 12 points on Friday in his debut and plans on playing in Northern Sweden next Friday as well.

It's sounding more and more unlikely that the Lakers will sign veteran Scottie Pippen to a deal this season.

"First of all, we don't have a roster spot," coach Phil Jackson said. "We have 15 guys. The other thing is we may need someone to play longer than 15 minutes a game." Despite being at the max for players, the league has agreed to allow them to sign another player, with restrictions. The player could be signed only to a 10-day contract and only if four of the Lakers' injured players stay inactive for 14 days. That would mean either Luke Walton or Ronny Turiaf would have to stay inactive or L.A. would have to drop a player in order to sign the 41-year-old, six-time champion.

Phil Jackson said on Sunday that he has spoken to Scottie Pippen, who is looking to make a comeback at age 41.

"I would say he kind of talked about the parameters of what he thinks he can do to help," Jackson said. With Lamar Odom possibly out for the rest of the regular season, Pippen becomes a real possibility for Jackson's Lakers, especially given the fact that he's already an expert in the field of the triangle offense. Stay tuned.

Scottie Pippen has expressed a desire to play for the Mavericks, but Avery Johnson says the team is standing pat with what they have.

Not a bad idea as they're in the midst of a club-record 15-game winning streak and have perfect chemistry in the locker room. "Our locker room, and the professionalism that our guys go about their daily practice and games means a lot to us," Johnson said. We just don't want any distractions right now."

A source said that the Cavaliers, after making initial contact to gauge interest, have not pursued Scottie Pippen in the past week.

The Cavs have no plans to hold a workout with him and no one really knows where Pippen might end up. The Lakers are still reportedly interested, but don't appear to be in a rush to sign him.

Scottie Pippen, who helped Phil Jackson win six NBA titles in Chicago, said during the All-Star break that he wanted to come out of retirement, and Jackson says he will give him a look.

"I anticipate that I will talk to Scottie at some point," Jackson said. "We have to entertain the possibility because we're a little bit short at forward. And a guy with that kind of experience -- even with the rapport he has with this team having been at our training camp last year -- it makes sense."

ESPN is reporting that the Cleveland Cavaliers are the leading contender to acquire Scottie Pippen.

The Cavs are also the leader in the Mike Bibby race, as they try to bolster the roster to make a serious playoff run. The Cavs reportedly brought Pippen in for an interview, but we doubt he has much fantasy value regardless of where he lands.

With the injury to Vladamir Radmanovic, the Lakers are expected to seriously consider signing 41-year-old Scottie Pippen for a second-half playoff run.

Kobe Bryant has endorsed Pippen for consideration by the Lakers, rejoining coach Phil Jackson. The two won six championships together during the Bulls dynasty in the 1990's. Earlier in the day, Heat coach Pat Riley conceded that Miami is not expected to pursue Pippen's services.

Scottie Pippen, who is seriously contemplating a comeback and will participate in Saturday's All-Star Shooting Stars competition, would prefer to play for the Miami Heat.

"I'd love to go play with Shaq," he said. "That's an ideal place. He's probably the best player in the game, he and Dwyane Wade." It will be interesting to see whether coach Pat Riley gives him a shot, but what's one more veteran on that aging Miami squad?

Scottie Pippen is contemplating a comeback, looking to sign with a contender in need of a backup point guard.

"I'm thinking of trying to come back for the playoffs," Pippen said. "Something like the last two months of the season, somewhere I can come back and play limited minutes to start, play point forward for someone and build toward the playoffs. It's something I've been thinking about for the last three months." Pippen turned 41 in September, but says he's in great shape. He's at his playing weight of 220 pounds and his body fat is at an all-time low of 5%. Teams like the Cavaliers, Suns and Heat could all benefit from another point guard for the playoffs, so don't be surprised if Pippen is back in the league soon.

Scottie Pippen had his number 33 retired in Chicago tonight.

Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Phil Jackson and Toni Kukoc were among those in attendance for the event.
