Joel Freeland (shoulder) will not suit up for Wednesday's game vs. the Cavs, as expected.
Freeland has been sidelined since Jan. 3, and he isn't even targeting a return until mid-February. With season averages of 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, Freeland can safely remain on the waiver wire in most leagues. Jan 27 - 2:37 PM

Joel Freeland will likely be out for a few more weeks as he recovers from his strained right shoulder.

This is a shame because Portland could really use him right now with Robin Lopez (hand) and LaMarcus Aldridge (thumb) sidelined. By the time Freeland returns to action, the Blazers will more than likely be healthy and Freeland probably won't be a big part of the rotation. Leave him on the wire.

Joel Freeland (shoulder) will not play Wednesday vs. the Suns.

The Blazers are hurting right now with Robin Lopez (hand), LaMarcus Aldridge (thumb), and Freeland all out for Wednesday's game. Look for Chris Kaman to get all the minutes he can handle, with Dorell Wright, Meyers Leonard, and Thomas Robinson set to see some increased opportunity.
Jan 20 - 6:49 PM

Joel Freeland (shoulder) said that he's feeling better, but he expects to be out longer than his initial 2-week timeline.

Freeland had some opportunity with Robin Lopez (hand) sidelined, but now it's looking like he won't be back until Lopez is also healthy, meaning there's no reason to hang onto Freeland in most leagues. Chris Kaman and Meyers Leonard have been the primary beneficiaries with both Lopez and Freeland sidelined, with Kaman offering the most upside.
Jan 13 - 3:31 PM

Joel Freeland suffered a right shoulder strain on Saturday, and he is expected to be re-evaluated in two weeks.

This is a tough blow for Portland as they are already without starting center Robin Lopez (hand). Coach Terry Stotts is known to be erratic with his lineups and it is almost impossible to predict what he will decide to do. Thomas Robinson, Chris Kaman, and Meyers Leonard all have a chance to see an uptick in minutes, while Dorell Wright may also see a boost in playing time as well. We will continue to follow this situation closely and we will pass along updates as needed.

Joel Freeland (shoulder) left Saturday's game against the Hawks and will not return.

He injured himself while attempting to block Paul Millsap's dunk attempt and was in visible pain. We will monitor his status closely moving forward and we will pass along updates as needed. If Freeland is forced to see some time on the sidelines, Thomas Robinson and Chris Kaman would be the primary beneficiaries.
Jan 3 - 11:59 PM

Joel Freeland grabbed 12 boards in Tuesday's win over the Raptors, scoring two points while adding one steal and two blocks in 32 minutes.

His biggest contribution was a massive block on Kyle Lowry to force overtime, and he made his presence felt all game long despite scoring just two points. Freeland has been getting solid minutes with the first unit due to the injury to Robin Lopez, so owners in deep leagues should at least give him a look as long as he continues to start.

Blazers big man Joel Freeland recorded his first career double-double on Sunday, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds before taking a seat after 25 minutes of action.

Freeland made 5-of-7 shots with two assists and two blocks, and he continues to start with Robin Lopez (hand) out of commission. His stats were easier to come by tonight with LaMarcus Aldridge (illness) sidelined and the Knicks' frontcourt decimated by injuries of their own, so standard-league owners shouldn't read much into Freeland's career night.

Joel Freeland grabbed a career-best 17 rebounds against the Sixers on Friday, and also chipped in with six points and one block in his 25 minutes.

Obviously this is a matchup thing and with Chris Kaman (personal) out there's no value change. Kaman is still the guy to own of the bunch for projected late-round upside and all-in-all there's not a lot of value after the injury to Robin Lopez.

Joel Freeland will start again on Saturday against the Pelicans.

New Orleans has some size up front, so it makes sense to go with Freeland over Thomas Robinson. Robinson and Freeland are still going to have to share minutes with Chris Kaman, so there's very little reason to grab either guy.

Joel Freeland will start against the Spurs on Friday.

Coach Terry Stotts is going to mix it up in the starting lineup and Thomas Robinson will come off the bench. Robinson might not play much and Stotts has yo-yo'd him in the lineup several times. Freeland is only worth a look in deep leagues.

Joel Freeland played 13 minutes off the bench against the Bucks with six points and six boards.

He's probably going to get some starts in the future with Robin Lopez (hand) out. The Bucks run a lot of small lineups, so coach Terry Stotts went with Thomas Robinson. Regardless, Freeland's ceiling is only going to be 22 minutes or so, which makes him just a deep league target at best.

Joel Freeland will come off the bench on Wednesday against the Bucks.

He was listed as the starter this afternoon, and he should get a start down the line. The Bucks don't have too much size and do a lot of their work on the perimeter, so Thomas Robinson makes sense as the starter tonight.
Wed, Dec 17, 2014 10:12:00 PM

Joel Freeland is listed as the starting center to face the Bucks on Wednesday.

Coach Terry Stotts has changed his lineups just before tip several times, so this is not necessarily set in stone. It does make sense because Chris Kaman isn't capable of playing big minutes at age 32 with a ton of injuries in his career. Additionally, Kaman's wife is expecting to give birth, so that could be a factor here, too. Kaman is still worth a look in standard leagues while Freeland could have value in deep formats.
Wed, Dec 17, 2014 03:34:00 PM

Joel Freeland played 15 minutes in Monday's win, scoring six points on 3-of-6 shooting with four rebounds and he could see a big playing time boost with Robin Lopez (hand) getting hurt.

Freeland has had a few nice moments this season and would be ahead of Meyers Leonard if we're guessing by looking at this season's results. Chances are Terry Stotts will use both guys and also Thomas Robinson (seven points, three boards, nine minutes) in equal amounts -- negating the upside of any of them. Chris Kaman is the only beneficiary here and he's a must-add player.
