According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, Joel Freeland is attempting an NBA comeback.
Freeland has three years of NBA experience with the Blazers, but spent the last two seasons over in Europe. He's 30 years old with career averages of 3.2 points and 3.4 rebounds, so the demand shouldn't be too high for the veteran big. Mon, Jul 3, 2017 10:40:00 AM

Joel Freeland has turned down an offer from the Mavericks and will join CSKA Moscow on a two-year deal.

Freeland reportedly turned down a three-year deal with the Mavericks for more than $6 million, so CSKA Moscow must have been offering him more money. His contract doesn't include an opt-out clause in case he wants to go back to the NBA, so we won't see him in the states for at least a couple of years.

Joel Freeland is reportedly in "advanced negotiations" with the Mavericks, but the two sides are far apart on salary.

The Mavs are reportedly prepared to offer Freeland a multi-year deal as they try and pick up the scraps after the whole DeAndre Jordan fiasco. The Mavs are now desperate for some depth up front, and Freeland could potentially earn a decent sized role in Dallas. Still, he's never averaged more than 14.0 minutes per game, and his career-averages of 3.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game leave a lot to be desired from a fantasy perspective.

Joel Freeland has reportedly not yet agreed to a contract with CSKA Moscow.

An earlier report stated that Freeland had officially signed, but Scotto reports Freeland is going to wait 48 hours before making an official decision. Perhaps he's waiting to see if he can secure an NBA deal, but he won't be a fantasy factor no matter where he winds up.

Joel Freeland has signed with CSKA Moscow, according to David Pick.

This move doesn't come as a huge surprise as the 28-year-old has only averaged 3.2 points and 3.4 rebounds in his NBA career. There's always a chance that Freeland finds his way back to the NBA, but he can be dropped from fantasy radars for now.

Joel Freeland could sign with CSKA Moscow.

Although Freeland reportedly has interest from a handful of NBA teams, it sure sounds like the overseas route is a better—and more lucrative—option for him at this point.

Joel Freeland will reportedly sign with a European club if he's unable to secure an NBA deal before July 10.

Freeland isn't going to be a high priority for any NBA team, so it sounds like heading overseas is a legitimate possibility. He owns career-averages of 3.2 points and 3.4 rebounds, so even if he does manage to sign a contract with an NBA team, he’ll remain a negligible option in fantasy hoops.

The Blazers are not expected to extend Joel Freeland a qualifying offer which means he will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Freeland battled a shoulder injury during the 2014-15 season and only averaged 12.9 minutes per game in 48 appearances, so it sounds like Portland is willing to move on. Freeland is a solid backup and shouldn't have any problem latching on with another team, but he likely won't be on the fantasy radar next season.

Joel Freeland and Shawne Williams have been suspended one game for their altercation on Friday night.

They exchanged head-butts in garbage time and this suspension is deserved. Freeland has played a grand total of seven minutes since Jan. 4 and can be left on the wire.

Joel Freeland played just two minutes in his return to action against the Kings on Sunday.

He didn't have any stats, but it was great to see him back out on the court after 23 straight games on the shelf. However, Freeland won't be in the rotation in Portland unless a couple of injuries strike their frontcourt, so he can be left on the wire in almost all leagues.

Joe Freeland (shoulder) will be active for Sunday's game vs. Sacramento.

While Freeland will finally be active after spending the past 23 games on the sidelines, there are no guarantees he actually steps onto the court, and he can be ignored in all leagues.

Joel Freeland (shoulder) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Spurs.

With Robin Lopez and Chris Kaman healthy, Freeland can remain on the waiver wire in all leagues.

Joel Freeland (shoulder) will not be active for Sunday's game against Memphis.

He has ramped up his activities in practice, but there is still no known timetable for his return. With Robin Lopez healthy, there's no reason to own Freeland in most leagues.

Joel Freeland (shoulder) was limited in practice on Wednesday.

He worked up a good sweat and is getting closer to a return. Considering the Blazers are healthy, Freeland won't see much action behind Robin Lopez.
Wed, Feb 18, 2015 09:46:00 PM

Joe Freeland (shoulder) will remain sidelined for Wednesday's game against the Lakers.

When Freeland is finally able to return to the court, he's going to be fighting for reserve minutes with Chris Kaman and Meyers Leonard, and he doesn't offer enough upside to be worth owning in any league.
