Date:

Joel Freeland (shoulder) will not be active for Sunday's game against Memphis.

He has ramped up his activities in practice, but there is still no known timetable for his return. With Robin Lopez healthy, there's no reason to own Freeland in most leagues.

Feb 22 - 1:05 PM

Joel Freeland (shoulder) was limited in practice on Wednesday.

He worked up a good sweat and is getting closer to a return. Considering the Blazers are healthy, Freeland won't see much action behind Robin Lopez.
Feb 18 - 9:46 PM

Joe Freeland (shoulder) will remain sidelined for Wednesday's game against the Lakers.

When Freeland is finally able to return to the court, he's going to be fighting for reserve minutes with Chris Kaman and Meyers Leonard, and he doesn't offer enough upside to be worth owning in any league.
Feb 10 - 6:16 PM

Joel Freeland (shoulder) will not play on Saturday against the Mavericks.

His right shoulder strain has kept him out for over one month, but he's not as needed now with Robin Lopez back and ready to roll. Freeland can be dropped in basically all leagues.
Feb 6 - 4:35 PM

Joel Freeland (shoulder) will not play against the Bucks on Saturday.

He has been out since Jan. 3 with his shoulder issue, but he's getting close to a return. With Robin Lopez also set to return next month, there's no need to add Freeland to almost any fantasy roster.
Jan 31 - 2:38 PM

Joel Freeland (shoulder) has been cleared to begin shooting.

Freeland is targeting a return for mid-February, and this is a small step in that direction. However, with averages of just 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds on the season, he can remain on the waiver wire in all leagues.
Jan 30 - 5:50 PM

Joel Freeland (shoulder) will not suit up for Wednesday's game vs. the Cavs, as expected.

Freeland has been sidelined since Jan. 3, and he isn't even targeting a return until mid-February. With season averages of 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, Freeland can safely remain on the waiver wire in most leagues.
Jan 27 - 2:37 PM

Joel Freeland will likely be out for a few more weeks as he recovers from his strained right shoulder.

This is a shame because Portland could really use him right now with Robin Lopez (hand) and LaMarcus Aldridge (thumb) sidelined. By the time Freeland returns to action, the Blazers will more than likely be healthy and Freeland probably won't be a big part of the rotation. Leave him on the wire.
Jan 22 - 4:54 PM

Joel Freeland (shoulder) will not play Wednesday vs. the Suns.

The Blazers are hurting right now with Robin Lopez (hand), LaMarcus Aldridge (thumb), and Freeland all out for Wednesday's game. Look for Chris Kaman to get all the minutes he can handle, with Dorell Wright, Meyers Leonard, and Thomas Robinson set to see some increased opportunity.
Jan 20 - 6:49 PM

Joel Freeland (shoulder) said that he's feeling better, but he expects to be out longer than his initial 2-week timeline.

Freeland had some opportunity with Robin Lopez (hand) sidelined, but now it's looking like he won't be back until Lopez is also healthy, meaning there's no reason to hang onto Freeland in most leagues. Chris Kaman and Meyers Leonard have been the primary beneficiaries with both Lopez and Freeland sidelined, with Kaman offering the most upside.
Jan 13 - 3:31 PM

Joel Freeland suffered a right shoulder strain on Saturday, and he is expected to be re-evaluated in two weeks.

This is a tough blow for Portland as they are already without starting center Robin Lopez (hand). Coach Terry Stotts is known to be erratic with his lineups and it is almost impossible to predict what he will decide to do. Thomas Robinson, Chris Kaman, and Meyers Leonard all have a chance to see an uptick in minutes, while Dorell Wright may also see a boost in playing time as well. We will continue to follow this situation closely and we will pass along updates as needed.

Joel Freeland (shoulder) left Saturday's game against the Hawks and will not return.

He injured himself while attempting to block Paul Millsap's dunk attempt and was in visible pain. We will monitor his status closely moving forward and we will pass along updates as needed. If Freeland is forced to see some time on the sidelines, Thomas Robinson and Chris Kaman would be the primary beneficiaries.
Jan 3 - 11:59 PM

Joel Freeland grabbed 12 boards in Tuesday's win over the Raptors, scoring two points while adding one steal and two blocks in 32 minutes.

His biggest contribution was a massive block on Kyle Lowry to force overtime, and he made his presence felt all game long despite scoring just two points. Freeland has been getting solid minutes with the first unit due to the injury to Robin Lopez, so owners in deep leagues should at least give him a look as long as he continues to start.

Blazers big man Joel Freeland recorded his first career double-double on Sunday, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds before taking a seat after 25 minutes of action.

Freeland made 5-of-7 shots with two assists and two blocks, and he continues to start with Robin Lopez (hand) out of commission. His stats were easier to come by tonight with LaMarcus Aldridge (illness) sidelined and the Knicks' frontcourt decimated by injuries of their own, so standard-league owners shouldn't read much into Freeland's career night.
