Lou Amundson missed practice on Wednesday morning due to a sore back.

The good news is that Amundson is expected to practice later in the evening, so we will leave him off the injury report for now. The Knicks added a ton of frontcourt depth this summer, so Amundson's role is set to take a major hit. It's safe to ignore him in fantasy leagues.

Knicks sign F/C Lou Amundson.

The Knicks said they would prioritize bringing Amundson back and Knicks president Phil Jackson put his money where his mouth was in re-signing Amundson. Sweet Lou averaged 6.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 19.8 minutes after the break last season, but will have a touch time finding minutes with Robin Lopez and Kyle O'Quinn now in town so he can be ignored in standard fantasy leagues.
Jul 30 - 9:55 AM

Head coach Derek Fisher said that the Knicks "prioritized" bringing back Lou Amundson this summer.

"We obviously prioritized having Lou back," Fisher said, "and we feel like from the time he joined our team during the season last year to finish the season, he was just very impactful and he picked up on a lot of things that we are trying to do. He's a worker and so we felt good about investing in him because of what he invested in us when he showed up last year." Amundson gave the Knicks some good minutes last season, but he will likely be buried on the depth chart after they acquired Robin Lopez, Kyle O'Quinn in free agency. Amundson can be ignored in standard leagues.

The Knicks signed Lou Amundson to a one-year, $1.65 million deal on Friday.

Knicks head coach Derek Fisher loved the energy that Amundson brought to the table last season, so it makes sense that New York wanted to bring him back. Having said that, Amundson averaged just 6.3 points, 6.1 boards, 1.5 assists and 1.2 blocks in 19.8 minutes after the All-Star break last season, and his role is set to decline after the Knicks added Robin Lopez and Kyle O'Quinn in free agency. It's safe to ignore Amundson in fantasy leagues.
Jul 11 - 11:35 AM

The Knicks are hoping to sign Lou Amundson for the veteran's minimum.

Amundson averaged 6.3 points, 6.1 boards, 1.5 assists and 1.2 blocks in 19.8 minutes after the All-Star break, but he would likely be looking at a reduced role next season. The Knicks just signed Robin Lopez and Kyle O'Quinn, so there will be a lot more competition for minutes in the frontcourt. To be clear, Amundson is not on the fantasy radar.
Jul 5 - 10:47 AM

Lou Amundson scored eight points on 3-of-4 shooting with five rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks in 24 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Hawks.

Amundson is hit or miss as a fantasy play but he has been consistent with the blocks, averaging 1.8 per contest over his last four games. He has also added 8.0 points and 6.5 boards so if those type of returns work for you give him a look.

Louis Amundson said playing in Europe is an option if the Knicks don't bring him back.

"Yeah, everything is on the table for me,’’ Amundson said. "I would like to play. I’ve been in this league, so I know what that’s like. So I think going overseas would be a new experience for me I think I’d enjoy. The 32-year-old doesn't offer fantasy owners in standards league much, but he's worth a look for teams in need of blocks down the stretch as he's averaging 1.6 over his last five games.
Apr 7 - 9:42 AM

Lou Amundson hopes to re-sign with the Knicks as a free agent this summer.

He left zero room for doubt, saying, "I want to be a Knick next season." Amundson is understandably thrilled with his current starting role for New York, and he may prioritize court-time over wins when weighing contract offers this summer.
Apr 1 - 1:58 AM

Lou Amundson didn't score in 16 minutes vs. the Raptors on Sunday, missing all three of his field goals and both of his free throws.

The nine-year veteran did chip in seven rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block, but he lost substantial playing time to backup big man Jason Smith (three points, three boards in 23 minutes). Neither guy is worth owning while they're locked in a value-killing timeshare at PF/C.
Mar 22 - 6:52 PM

Lou Amundson grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds during Tuesday's home victory, adding 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting with two assists and two blocks in 31 minutes.

This game was inexplicable in a variety of ways, including the Knicks winning the rebound battle, 50-49, despite having the second-worst rebound rate in the NBA (ahead of only the Mavericks). Amundson grabbed eight of his boards off the offensive glass during tonight's random outburst, but he'll go back to being a non-factor in fantasy leagues on Thursday.
Mar 17 - 10:36 PM

Lou Amundson started Sunday's game in Phoenix but he finished with only two points, four boards and two assists in 17 minutes of action.

The 32-year-old journeyman is in coach Derek Fisher's good graces and he's started more than 60 percent of the games he's played in this season. Regardless of where he begins the game, however, Amundson is only worth deep-league owners' attention for help with boards and blocks.
Mar 15 - 11:48 PM

Lou Amundson started Tuesday's game and finished with eight points, three rebounds, one steal and two blocks in just 16 minutes vs. Utah.

Amundson performed admirably given his limited minutes and recent back spasms, but he's impossible to trust while playing inconsistent minutes in the Knicks' messy frontcourt. Nearly all fantasy owners should leave him on the waiver wire.
Mar 11 - 12:27 AM

Lou Amundson will start vs. the Jazz on Tuesday.

Jason Smith will move to the bench for this one, but head coach Derek Fisher's lineups can change at any moment. Even with four more games this week for the Knicks, Amundson is only worth a look in deeper leagues.
Mar 10 - 8:02 PM

Lou Amundson (back) returned to action in Monday's blowout loss, logging 14 minutes with two points, four rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Amundson would've been a stronger start among the Knicks' rag-tag group in their five-game week, but the back injury made things pretty cloudy for owners with weekly lineup deadlines. Deep league owners may want to take a look at him since he was posting active lines prior to getting hurt.
