Pops Mensah-Bonsu has signed with Besiktas in Turkey.

Mensah-Bonsu was waived with the Hornets in January of last season and never returned to the league. He nearly averaged a double-double with ASVEL in France and should do well in Turkey with Deron Williams' former club.

Armani Jeans Milano is targeting free agent big man Pops-Mensah Bonsu.

Mensah-Bonsu spent part of last season with New Orleans before being waived in January. He has a solid skill set and should flourish as a big man overseas. He averaged 16.5 points and 9.3 rebounds with ASVEL in France last year.

Even ardent NBA fans may not have realized Pops was still on the Hornets' roster, and his absence has zero impact on fantasy leagues.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu played like a man fighting for a roster spot on Monday, scoring 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting with 10 rebounds, one assist, four steals, and one block in 32 minutes off the bench.

He played that way because he is fighting for a roster spot, and with this performance 2008 first-round bust Joe Alexander probably shouldn't be looking at property in the New Orleans area. Pops will back up David West along with Jason Smith.

Pops Mensa-Bonsu made a case for making the Hornets squad on Saturday, with six points and nine rebounds in just 13 minutes off the bench.

He is a terror on the boards, but his lack of other skills make him difficult to play for long stretches. Joe Alexander, who flew up 'real' draft boards to get picked No. 8 for the Bucks in 2008, got the quick hook after two turnovers in two minutes and is on the verge of being cut.

The 27-year old journeyman was set to play overseas but that was nixed because of a rumored knee injury. If he makes the squad in New Orleans, he will be a big bruiser coming off the bench and not much more.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu - F - Pelicans

The Spanish team Caja Laboral has released Pops Mensah-Bonsu, possibly because of a knee injury.

The 27-year-old PF just signed overseas last month but the club said he "didn't pass satisfactorily the signing process." He averaged 19.3 points and 13.5 rebounds while helping Great Britain qualify for the European Championships, and should find another team before long.

Former NBA power forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu has signed with a team in the Spanish league after spending last season with CSKA Moscow.

Pops could be a role player in the NBA, but has opted for what is surely a bigger role (and a bigger payday) overseas. He is currently playing for Great Britain in the Eurobasket qualifiers, and scored 27 points to lead the team to an OT victory on Sunday.

The Raptors have waived big man Pops Mensah-Bonsu, whose contract would have been guaranteed on Wednesday.

Toronto will look into signing him on a 10-day contract if he clears waivers, but other NBA and European teams could have interest in him. No matter where he lands, he's unlikely to have any fantasy value.

He has no value in almost any league, but could end up being a source of boards and blocks at some point down the line.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu has been claimed off waivers by the Raptors, and could play Tuesday against the Nuggets.

Mensah-Bonsu is big, physical and athletic, but hasn't shown enough basketball skills to be an effective NBA player. The potential is there, but he will struggle to make an impact stuck behind Chris Bosh, Amir Johnson and Reggie Evans on the depth chart.

Initial reports from Venezuela stated Vasquez would have a procedure done on both ankles and now it's been confirmed. Vasquez dealt with ankle issues during the regular season, so the procedure is designed to alleviate that issue. It is "similar" to what Eric Gordon had done earlier in the month to remove bone spurs from his left ankle. May 24

SG	1	Eric Gordon Sidelined A source told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that Eric Gordon trade rumors have "no merit." Gordon is expected to be shopped by the Pelicans as the team looks to get out from under his contract, but right now it appears the team is committed to keeping him. We'd expect that to change as we enter the offseason and more teams begin to get active in shaping their plans for next season, but he'll remain with the Pelicans for now. May 21
	2	Austin Rivers Sidelined Austin Rivers (hand) was expected to be cleared for basketball activities earlier in the week. Rivers made the announcement in an appearance on ESPN's First Take, and it makes sense given he was slapped with a four-to-six week timetable on March 12 when he had the surgery. It's now been about 10 weeks since the procedure, and we don't expect Rivers to have any physical limitations entering his sophomore season. May 24

	2	Jason Smith Sidelined Jason Smith (shoulder surgery) has one year left on his contract at $2.5 million, but it's only guaranteed for $1 million if he's waived before June 30th. Smith said recently that he's "making progress" in his rehab and it will be interesting to see if the Pelicans keep him on their roster -- $2.5 million isn't unreasonable for a solid backup PF/C, but Smith seems injury-prone after having three major surgeries in the past six years.
