Greg Oden is free to leave the state of Indiana while he awaits trial on battery charges as long as he remains on GPS monitoring, a judge ruled on Wednesday.
The Marion County Superior Court judge Steven Rubick entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Oden and scheduled the 26-year-old's trial for Oct. 22. Oden is charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury and two misdemeanor battery counts after police were called to his home at 3:30 in the morning on August 7. Oden remains an unrestricted free agent, but this saga will likely put an end to his immediate comeback attempts. Aug 14 - 9:57 AM

Greg Oden is now facing a felony charge after reportedly punching his ex-girlfriend in the face.

Oden, 26, was charged in Marion Superior Court Monday with one count of battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony, as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and battery resulting in bodily injury. The felony carries a penalty of one to six years of jail time, and he will have his initial hearing on Tuesday. Oden, an unrestricted free agent, was reportedly going to have a meeting with the Clippers, but this news will likely derail any attempted return to the NBA. This will likely be how the former No. 1 overall pick ends his NBA career.

Greg Oden has been arrested on misdemeanor battery charges early Thursday morning.

According to reports, Oden was taken into custody in Lawrence, Indiana after allegedly punching a woman. While the unrestricted free agent had a visit scheduled with the Clippers, this news will likely push those plans to the back-burner. We'll update this situation as more information becomes available, but things aren't looking good for the former No. 1 overall pick.

The Los Angeles Clippers will host Greg Oden on a free agent visit this week.

The Greg Oden Experiment didn't exactly go as planned in Miami as the former No. 1 overall pick only averaged 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 23 games with the Heat last season. He's still only 26 years old, but Oden isn't anything more than a backup center at this point in his career and should only be drafted in the very deepest of fantasy leagues for the 2014-15 season.

The Heat are still non-committal on bringing back Greg Oden.

"They said they’ll get back to us," Oden's agent Mike Conley Sr. said. "A couple of teams have inquired. He wants to be able to play." It's not going to be easy for Oden to get minutes after not being able to play for more than 15 minutes in any game last season.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra isn't sure whether Greg Oden will re-sign with Miami as an unrestricted free agent this summer, but Spoelstra "loved" having him on the team.

"[Oden] was one of the biggest success stories in the regular season and postseason," Spoelstra said. "I loved having Greg around. I loved seeing him go through the process of putting himself back out there. He made incredible strides." Oden plans to play in the NBA next season but it remains to be seen whether he'll wear a Heat uniform -- he appeared in only 23 regular season games and three playoff games, and shouldn't be drafted in fantasy leagues no matter where he's playing.

Greg Oden will return to Columbus, Ohio to work out this summer, in anticipation of earning another NBA contract next season.

Oden has been inactive for the bulk of the playoffs, after appearing in only 23 regular season games, and he even admitted recently that he's "one of the biggest [draft] busts in NBA history." The 26-year-old has enough talent that he'll probably land a short-term deal for a minimal amount of money, but fantasy owners should give him a wide berth on draft day.
Jun 15 - 2:18 PM

Greg Oden said on Wednesday that he's "sure" he'll be playing next season.

"Yeah, I’m sure I’m playing again next year but honestly I haven’t even gave it much thought," Oden said. "I’m trying to concentrate on this and getting this ring first and after that, that’s part of the thought process. My body feels good. I can still play. I’ll be alright." He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season and teams aren't going to beat his door down for a multiple-year deal.

Greg Oden (knees, back) said that he'll be ready to play if called upon by coach Erik Spoelstra.

Oden's lone appearance during the playoffs was a four-minute stint during Friday's lopsided Game 6 victory vs. the Pacers. It's encouraging to know that the 26-year-old is healthy enough to play, but it's highly unlikely he'll rejoin the rotation vs. San Antonio.

Greg Oden was available for Saturday's Game 3 loss, but never got off the bench.

With Chris Bosh playing poorly throughout the playoffs, the Heat could use Oden. However, whether his knees will allow him to play any time soon remains to be seen.
May 24 - 11:45 PM

Greg Oden, who has yet to play in the playoffs, is expected to be activated for Saturday's Game 3 against the Pacers.

It's not official, but it does sound like Oden will play tonight. While the Heat will say he wasn't brought in to battle with Roy Hibbert, it's hard to deny they could use him in this series. However, given the state of Oden's body and knees, it would be surprising to see him get more than 10 minutes tonight, if he plays.
May 24 - 7:01 PM

Miami center Greg Oden, who hasn't played at all during the Heat's latest playoff run, could play in Game 3 on Saturday night.

Erik Spoelstra told the media that the "game will dictate" whether or not Oden sees minutes against the Pacers. Although Oden's chances of playing are limited, he could provide some size in spurts if the Heat are in a jam.
May 24 - 12:14 PM

Coach Erik Spoelstra said Greg Oden had a great week of work and will consider using the center in Game 3.

Oden's downfall this season after playing Roy Hibbert and the Pacers back on Mar. 26, so the odds are against him to be in the lineup at all in Game 3. At best, he probably won't be on the court for more than 10-12 minutes.
May 23 - 1:06 PM

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra suggested that a lack of conditioning was responsible for Greg Oden's inactivity during Sunday's Game 1 loss to the Pacers.

"After the back [spasms], he's been working really to get back out on the court," Spoelstra said, referring to Oden's injury from late in the regular season. "I want him to have a couple more very tough workouts this week, and we'll evaluate him at the end of the week." It sounds as though Oden will miss at least two more games before potentially returning as a counter-weight to Roy Hibbert, who racked up 19 points and nine rebounds in Game 1.
May 18 - 8:32 PM

Greg Oden said he's one of the biggest busts in NBA history.

"I’m one of the biggest busts in NBA history and I know that it’ll only get worse as Kevin Durant continues doing big things," Oden said. "I wish the circumstances would let me play more, but I certainly don’t regret coming back, and I don’t regret signing with the Heat." It's great that Oden is back on an NBA team, but he's probably the biggest bust ever at this point.
