Dallas reporter Eddie Sefko said the Mavericks "aren't expecting much" out of Josh McRoberts.
The oft-injured forward has played an average of 27 games over the last three campaigns and is entering his age-31 season, so the rebuilding Mavs likely won't have much use for him. The Mavs acquired McRoberts in a salary dump and are looking forward to next summer when his $6 million contract is off the books. Aug 3 - 10:34 AM

The Heat have traded Josh McRoberts, a 2023 second-round draft pick and cash considerations to the Mavericks in exchange for A.J. Hammons.

The Heat needed to clear McRoberts' $6 million salary off their books to create the cap space necessary to facilitate the signings of Kelly Olynyk, Dion Waiters, and James Johnson. McRoberts was simply unable to stay healthy during his three-season stint in Miami. He appeared in a total of just 81 out of a possible 246 games and averaged 4.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists in 15.7 minutes. McRoberts is not expected to make an impact in Dallas, as he first has to prove he can stay on the floor. Miami will likely waive Hammons.

The Heat have been working on a Josh McRoberts salary dump to help them clear cap space, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.

ESPN also reported that the Mavs are in the mix as a partner, so they're probably the favorite. The Heat really don't have much to offer after they traded away two firsts in the Goran Dragic deal, so it'll probably be a second round pick and a low-level player.

Anthony Chiang of the Palm Beach Post said that the Heat may waive Josh McRoberts by using the stretch provision.

McRoberts picked up his player option last week for $6 million, but the Heat might be ready to move on from the oft-injured forward -- he has missed 146 games over the last three seasons. By using the stretch provision, the Heat would owe McRoberts $2 million over the next three seasons and would have an additional $4 million in cap space to spend this summer. With James Johnson, Dion Waiters and Willie Reed hitting free agency, the Heat could use all the space they can get.

The Heat could opt to trade or waive Josh McRoberts this summer.

Other than constantly getting injured, McRoberts has done a whole lot of nothing since joining the Miami franchise, and with the Heat potentially looking to make a splash during free agency this offseason, it would make sense to get McRoberts' contract worth $6 million off the books. It's tough to envision a situation where the 30-year-old stretch-four will be worth a draft pick next season.
May 24 - 11:27 AM

Josh McRoberts has reportedly picked up his player option worth $6 million for the 2017-18 season.

This is far from surprising as there's absolutely no way McRoberts would be able to command this sort of salary on the open market. Since coming to Miami three years ago, McRoberts has only managed to suit up for a total of 81 games, and he hasn't done anything impressive since joining the Heat.
May 23 - 5:14 PM

Josh McRoberts (foot) didn't play on Wednesday, as expected.

McRoberts hasn't played in a game since Dec. 23. He was available tonight as emergency depth, but he'll now have the entire offseason to get 100 percent healthy. McRoberts also has an interesting to decision to make -- he can accept a $6.0 million player option, or gamble in free agency after a disappointing, injury-plagued season.
Apr 12 - 11:17 PM

Josh McRoberts is available to play against the Wizards on Wednesday.

It would be a surprise to see McRoberts play after missing every game in the 2017 portion of the season.
Apr 12 - 6:30 PM

Josh McRoberts (foot) is not being listed on the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Wizards.

He might be available to play on Wednesday, but that doesn't mean he'll actually get out there. McRoberts hasn't played since December and belongs on the waiver wire in all leagues.
Apr 11 - 4:32 PM

Josh McRoberts (foot) will not play on Monday vs. Cleveland.

McRoberts won't be returning in any meaningful capacity this season. Leave him on the wire.
Apr 10 - 6:07 PM

Josh McRoberts (foot) is questionable for Monday's game vs. the Cavaliers.

He's only played in 22 games this season, so we'd be a little surprised if he was in the rotation with Miami's season on the line. If he's available, he will just provide some emergency depth.
Apr 9 - 11:31 AM

Josh McRoberts (foot) went through his first full-contact practice on Tuesday, but he is currently not with the team on their three-game road trip and will not play Wednesday vs. Charlotte.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra left the door open for McRoberts to potentially return at some point this season, but considering he's only managed to suit up for a total of 22 games this year and hasn't played since December, he'll likely be brought along very slowly if he is able to get back out there. Leave him on the wire.
Apr 5 - 12:42 PM

Erik Spoelstra said that Josh McRoberts is making progress with the stress reaction in his left foot.

While McRoberts remains out indefinitely, the Heat have not officially ruled him out for the season, so perhaps he'll return to the court at some point. That being said, it's extremely unlikely that McRoberts will be an impact player in fantasy hoops this season, so he's safe to leave on the waiver wire in all settings.
Mar 15 - 12:56 PM

Josh McRoberts (stress reaction in left foot) is out indefinitely, according to coach Erik Spoelstra.

McRoberts' streak of bad injury luck continues. This injury is to the same foot he broke back in the 2016 postseason. McRoberts had started 14 straight games for Miami, but was largely ineffective, averaging just 6.4 points and 3.3 rebounds. Over his last seven games, he saw his playing time reduced and was averaging under 17 minutes per contest. He can now be waived in all fantasy leagues. Luke Babbit will likely replace him in the starting lineup.

Josh McRoberts scores four points on 2-of-2 shooting with two rebounds on Thursday night against the Lakers.

McRoberts was a non-factor in this game and did not play a role in the Heat’s 19-point comeback victory. Despite getting the start, he only played 15 minutes and has not logged more than 18 minutes in six consecutive games. Even with all the injuries on the Heat, McRoberts has not done much to warrant consideration in fantasy leagues.
