Steve Clifford was pleased with the Hornets acquisition of Marco Belinelli this offseason.
"Trading the 22nd pick for Belinelli set up the whole thing in my mind. He’s a legitimate rotation player who can play right now," Clifford said. "You’re just not going to get [a rookie] at 22 who can do that." The Hornets don't have a ton of depth at the two-guard spot, so Belinelli should be able to see around 25 minutes a night. He's not much more than a 3-point specialist in really deep leagues. Sep 13 - 6:27 PM

Date:

Marco Belinelli (face) will be a game-time call vs. Tunisia on Monday.

He suffered a fracture of his jaw bone against Canada on June 26, but it's a great sign that he might be able to play this early. He will likely wear a protective mask and is scheduled to meet with a specialist on Monday morning.

Marco Belinelli has suffered a fracture of his jaw bone, according to Sportando.

The report also states that Belinelli is expected to join training camp for the national team on Tuesday, so it's unclear how long he may be sidelined. After the Hornets just surprisingly traded the No. 22 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft in exchange for Belinelli's services, Charlotte has to be hopeful this injury doesn't have a long-term impact.
Jun 27 - 9:05 AM

Marco Belinelli went to the hospital after being hit in the left eye during an exhibition game for Team Italy on Sunday.

Currently there aren't any additional details regarding Belinelli's eye, although a hospital visit indicates that he could be dealing with a significant injury. A worst-case scenario here would likely be an orbital fracture, and while that would likely force Belinelli out of the Olympics, he'd still have plenty of time to recover for the 2016-17 season.
Jun 26 - 5:03 PM

Marco Belinelli was forced to exit Sunday's exhibition game between Team Canada and Team Italy after suffering an apparent left eye injury.

Belinelli not returning to the court for an exhibition game doesn't mean much, and there's really no way this injury will impact his status for the 2016-17 season. Belinelli is going to be a backup in Charlotte, so he won't be worth drafting in most leagues.
Jun 26 - 4:00 PM

The Kings are trading Marco Belinelli to Charlotte for the No. 22 pick in the 2016 draft.

Belinelli took a public swipe at the Kings in May, saying that he wants to win now, and "to make that happen, something has to happen." It's a fine haul for the Kings, who open up more minutes for Ben McLemore and Seth Curry, while acquiring a valuable pick, but Charlotte's reasoning isn't as clear. Belinelli is owed a guaranteed $12.9 million over the next two seasons and could claim a significant role in Charlotte's backcourt, but he's a very dubious fantasy asset.
Jun 23 - 6:52 PM

Marco Belinelli stated during a recent interview with Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport that he wants to be a part of a winning team.

"I want to win now. To make that happen, something has to happen," said Belinelli. "I'm still under contract with Sacramento and I have trust in the organization but in the NBA you never know what may happen." Belinelli doesn't sound like a guy that's all that happy to be on the books for another two years in Sacramento, but he was the guy that chose to go there as a free agent. With the Kings, Belinelli won’t be anything more than a deep league, 3-point specialist.

May 25 - 12:10 PM

In an interview with Sky Sports Italy, Marco Belinelli discussed some of the problems that he saw in Sacramento this season.

"There wasn't a group from the start of the season," Belinelli said. "[George] Karl didn't want [DeMarcus] Cousins and Cousins didn't want Karl as coach. It's pretty hard to play well in a situation like that." Belinelli added that he saw some "very bad stuff" in the locker room, but it's no secret that the Kings had some chemistry issues. As for Belinelli, he still has two more years left on his deal with the Kings, but he likely won't be anything more than a 3-point specialist in fantasy next season.

Marco Belinelli (foot) and Omri Casspi (hamstring) have been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Rockets.

Apr 11 - 4:30 PM

Marco Belinelli (foot) will not play against the Thunder on Saturday.

Belinelli is almost certainly done for the year. Seth Curry will get most of the minutes at the two.
Apr 9 - 7:06 PM

Marco Belinelli (foot) is being listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against the Thunder.

It would be shocking to see him take the floor with Sacramento playing for Ping Pong balls. He's been out since March 27 and belongs on the waiver wire everywhere.
Apr 8 - 10:47 PM

Marco Belinelli (foot) will not play Thursday against the Wolves.

He has been called doubtful since his Mar. 25 injury but hasn't made it back. Belinelli's absence has helped Seth Curry the most. Curry is worth a long look in standard leagues.
Apr 6 - 8:38 PM

Marco Belinelli (foot) will not play Tuesday vs. the Blazers, as expected.

He was doubtful heading into this one, and could very likely be shutdown for Sacramento's final five games of the year. Seth Curry and Ben McLemore will pick up some extra minutes in his absence, with Curry being the better DFS target.
Apr 5 - 6:10 PM

Marco Belinelli (foot) is doubtful for Tuesday's game vs. the Blazers.

He could be done for the season with the Kings tanking. With Belinelli expected to sit, Seth Curry and Ben McLemore will continue to benefit.
