Jared Dudley (back) said he doesn't expect to miss more than a "couple games" this regular season.
He revealed he was taking one drug for pain following the surgery on his back, mentioned he was playing through back pain since January, and had cortisone shots last year. His surgery back on July 21 gave him a prognosis of 3-4 months, so an early November return is a fair expectation. Dudley didn't really have back issues until the 2013-14 season, but he's had that problem in each of the past two seasons. Once he's healthy, he is only looking at minutes in the teens. Wizards F Jared Dudley will miss 3-4 months after having surgery on Tuesday to repair a herniated disc in his lower back.

Back injuries plagued Dudley after the All-Star break last season and the Wizards conferred with team doctors and specialists before deciding to take a "proactive approach ... to prevent the risk of further injury." Dudley ruled himself out for the start of training camp and his 3-4 month timetable suggests that he may still be on the sidelines to begin the regular season. The injury ensures that he'll go undrafted in all but the deepest leagues this season.
Jul 21 - 7:15 PM

Jared Dudley said that he expects to come off the bench next season and that he will likely see some time at power forward.

Dudley is past his prime but he should have a decent role with the second unit next season. He is certainly not on the radar in standard leagues, but he can be viewed as a 3-point specialist in deeper leagues. The Wizards did just re-sign Drew Gooden, so that could hurt his potential for minutes as well.
Jul 10 - 2:09 PM

Jared Dudley will be traded to the Wizards for a protected second-round pick.

It's basically just a salary dump and the numbers work here because of the trade exception from the Andre Miller deal last season. Dudley will be a stretch four in the second unit, but he probably won't take much of Otto Porter's playing time, especially if he has another sub-par year. Dudley isn't worth a pick in most fantasy leagues.
Jul 2 - 7:13 PM

The Wizards are reportedly nearing in on a deal that will net them Jared Dudley.

Dudley would likely serve in a mentorship role for guys like Otto Porter and Kelly Oubre, but he won't have any fantasy value with the Wizards.
Jul 2 - 6:50 PM

Jared Dudley has reportedly picked up his player option to remain with the Bucks next season for $4.25 million.

This was a pretty easy decision for Dudley as it was unlikely he could have secured such a deal on the open market. He averaged just 7.2 points, 1.0 steal and 1.0 three-pointer per game last season, and he'll be in a reserve role with the Bucks next year. It'll take more than a few injuries for him to emerge as a viable asset in standard leagues.
Jun 30 - 6:00 PM

Jared Dudley wants to return to the Bucks next season.

Dudley has a player option for $4.25 million that he has to decide on by the end of June, and it's hard to imagine him drawing a comparable salary if he declines and hits free agency. It's more likely that Dudley exercises his option and hits free agency during the 2016 offseason.

Jared Dudley proclaimed during an appearance on an ESPN radio show on Tuesday that "most guys don't want to play with Kobe [Bryant]."

"He wants to show everyone so much," Dudley said. "We love you Kobe. But come on, it’s like, it’s now time to start giving up. Most guys don’t want to play with Kobe. Kobe gets in this thing where he doesn’t pass and then he over-passes and he’s trying to get triple-doubles every night. You have [the ability to pass]. It’s just not something he wants to do. And that’s why I think it’ll be a while before the Lakers can get good."

Jared Dudley apologized for saying Carmelo Anthony is the most overrated player in the NBA.

After saying Anthony has failed to take his team past the second round in the playoffs, Dudley quickly backtracked from his comments. "I shouldn’t have said that that was my fault for saying that because it’s not the truth," Dudley said on Wednesday. "I apologize for saying that about Carmelo." While Dudley has apologized, the first Knicks-Bucks matchup of the 2015-16 season will be an interesting one.

Jared Dudley said Carmelo Anthony is the most overrated player in the NBA.

"He’s gotta get out of the first, second rounds," Dudley said. "He’s gotta get his teams to the playoffs. LeBron with that roster, LeBron would’ve gotten them to the playoffs." This one will be going on the bulletin board when Melo takes on Dudley next season.

May 27 - 7:36 PM

Jared Dudley said that there was an 80-90 percent chance he comes back with the Bucks next season, even if he decides to opt out of his contract.

Dudley has a player option worth $4.25 million for the 2015-16 season, but it sounds like he'll be back in Milwaukee regardless of whether he opts out of his contract. Dudley said that he enjoys helping the younger guys on the roster, and he'd like to come back and continue building what they started this season. However, for fantasy purposes, Dudley will be a non-option in most leagues after averaging a meager 7.2 points, 1.0 steal and 1.0 three-pointer per game through the 2014-15 season.
May 1 - 2:03 PM

Jared Dudley played 29 minutes off the bench during a 92-90 Game 4 victory over the Bulls on Saturday, scoring 13 points with two rebounds, five assists, two steals, one block and three 3-pointers.

Jared hit Jerryd Bayless for a backdoor layup on an inbounds pass to get the Bucks a buzzer-beater to win it. It was a slightly dangerous pass, but Dudley deserves a lot of credit for executing it perfectly. The Bucks second unit was great with 47 points, which was more than the starters' 45. The Bucks also capitalized on the Bulls' 28 turnovers with 39 points off those mistakes. As for Dudley's extra playing time, he earned his minutes from Ersan Ilyasova, who scored just nine points on 3-of-11 from the field in 17 minutes. Both could wind up being around 24 minutes in Game 5 on Monday.
Apr 25 - 9:28 PM

Jared Dudley is dealing with some foot soreness and will play against the Bulls in Game 3 on Thursday.

He's dealt with knee and back issues since the All-Star break and this foot issue has bothered him since Game 1. Dudley played 14.5 minutes per game in the first two games of the playoffs, making a combined 2-of-8 from the field. He'll likely be around that amount of playing time again.
Apr 22 - 4:52 PM

Jared Dudley will play against the Bulls on Monday.

He was listed as probable, but coach Jason Kidd said he can play. Kidd also said rebounding was very important today, so maybe the Bucks won't go with a lineup of Michael Carter-Williams, Jerryd Bayless and O.J. Mayo. Dudley has very little fantasy value.

Apr 20 - 7:12 PM

Jared Dudley (back) will play on Saturday vs. the Bulls.

The Bucks rested him for the final two games of the season, so he should be fresh for the playoffs. Dudley is a seasoned veteran, and his experience will be a huge boost for the young Bucks. Expect Dudley to see minutes in the mid 20s tonight.
