Jared Dudley said that he expects to open the year as a starter for the Suns, but end the 2016-17 season playing in a reserve role in Phoenix.
Suns GM Ryan McDonough has already hinted that Dudley will open the year as the team's starting power forward, although it wouldn't be surprising to see either Marquese Chriss or Dragan Bender eventually supplant him at the four-spot, particularly if Phoenix is not competitive towards the end of the year. Even as a starter, it's unlikely Dudley will play much more than 25 minutes a night, so he's not a very attractive target in standard settings. Aug 18 - 7:02 PM

Suns GM Ryan McDonough confirmed that Jared Dudley is "likely" to be the Suns' starting power forward on opening night.

McDonough pointed out during an in-game interview that Dudley will help stretch the floor with his 3-point shooting -- Dudley ranks third in Suns history at 41.2 percent shooting from downtown, behind only Steve Nash and Raja Bell, and he's seventh in total 3-pointers made. The veteran is likely to play 24-28 minutes per game, which restricts him to late-round territory in standard leagues.
Jul 10 - 11:28 PM

The Suns have agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with unrestricted free agent Jared Dudley.

He's back. Dudley had his career-high 12.7 points per game in Phoenix during 2011-12 and has seen a downward trend on his stats. He has been relatively durable in that time, missing just 14 games in the last four seasons combined. Dudley is 30 years old, so he's past his prime. He should get minutes as a stretch four with some time at the three, but it likely won't be too much because of their rookie power forwards, Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss.
Jul 1 - 10:15 PM

The Nets, Wizards, Suns and Jazz all have interest in free agent forward Jared Dudley.

Dudley, who turns 31 on July 10, had a solid 2015-16 campaign in Washington, averaging 7.9 points, 3.5 boards, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 treys while shooting 47.8 percent from the field. He's not going to be cheap due to the rising salary cap, but he should be able to get solid minutes on each one of these teams.
Jul 1 - 1:27 AM

Jared Dudley said he could envision himself playing for the Utah Jazz.

Dudley responded to a fan's tweet asking if Utah was a possibility for the unrestricted free agent and the 30-year-old responded by saying he could see that happening. Dudley is far from a fantasy star, but the Jazz have minutes open at the wing position and he could be a sneaky late-round option if he signs in Utah.
Jun 21 - 12:01 PM

Jared Dudley said he doesn't see Kevin Durant joining the Wizards next season.

"I realistically don’t," Dudley said. "I hope for the fans they do, because he’s from there, and he would bring such excitement. They’d be right behind Cleveland, right there with them to be able to contend. I don’t see it though." Dudley hasn't been shy about comments in his career, but he's probably right on this one.
Jun 10 - 2:44 PM

Jared Dudley is hoping for a three-year deal in free agency this summer and is open to returning to the Wizards.

"Going forward, I could definitely see me coming back," Dudley said. "As I told some other reporters, I’m never anybody’s first or second or third option, I’m your fourth option. So if you don’t get your girlfriend you want right away, I’m the one at the end. For me, it’s no problem. You know what I can do in this system. When I play, I play the right way." Dudley had a solid season in Washington with averages of 7.9 points, 3.5 boards, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 3-pointers, and he should get a decent raise this summer with the salary cap expected to expand.
Apr 22 - 10:52 AM

Jared Dudley is open to returning to the Washington Wizards.

Dudley didn't want to return if Randy Wittman was still the head coach, but Dudley can now consider returning to Washington with Wittman being relieved of his duties. While Dudley will likely seek long-term security on the open market, we could see him back in Washington as a fantasy option in deeper leagues.
Apr 14 - 9:23 AM

Jared Dudley scored eight points in a start against the Nets on Monday with six rebounds, five assists, one steal and no turnovers.

It wasn't a big scoring line for Dudley with Markieff Morris (rest) out, but he filled it up in the other areas. He's not really worth using in the finale with several other better options.
Apr 11 - 11:12 PM

Jared Dudley and Marcus Thornton will start on Monday vs. the Nets.

Markieff Morris (rest) will not play and Nene (rest) might not play as well, so the Wizards may need Dudley to play big minutes tonight. He's worth a look if you're targeting 3-pointers or if you're trying to save some money in DFS.
Apr 11 - 7:19 PM

Jared Dudley scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting Sunday, to go with seven rebounds, three assists, one 3-pointer, four steals, two blocks and two turnovers in 29 minutes.

Over the past seven games, Dudley had only been earning 13.9 minutes a night, but he saw some increased opportunity with Bradley Beal (pelvis) taking an early seat on the sidelines. If Beal can't play on Monday vs. the Nets, which seems like a likely scenario, Dudley could earn meaningful minutes in the rotation. However, he often struggles with consistency, so Dudley can only be considered a low-end target in deep leagues.
Apr 10 - 5:40 PM

Jared Dudley didn't score in 11 minutes off the bench on Sunday, finishing with just one rebound, two assists and two personal fouls to his credit.

Dudley was surprisingly quiet given the absence of Markieff Morris (calf), but the Wizards turned to Nene and J.J. Hickson tonight. This was an essential win to keep the Wizards' playoff hopes alive, as it moves them within 2.5 games of the idle Pistons for the No. 8 seed. They have a steep climb to make the cut, especially with the No. 9 seed Bulls also ahead of them, and it's doubtful that Dudley will be a fantasy asset down the stretch.
Mar 28 - 12:03 AM

Jared Dudley scored 16 points off the bench on Tuesday vs. the Blazers with five boards, one assist, two steals and one 3-pointer in 39 minutes.

Bradley Beal (sprained pelvis) was out, Otto Porter was playing poorly and Markieff Morris got into some foul trouble, so Dudley had to step up for the Wizards. This was his first good game in a while and he's only been getting minutes in the teens recently, so most owners can use a wait-and-see approach here.
Mar 9 - 1:42 AM

Jared Dudley did not score in 15 minutes against the Cavs on Friday with two rebounds and one turnover.

It looks like it's time to cut him in fantasy now. Dudley had a really nice run after the Markieff Morris trade, but his chance to keep his minutes may have passed.
Mar 4 - 11:58 PM

Jared Dudley played just 12 minutes off the bench on Monday with four points, four boards, one assist and one 3-pointer against the 76ers.

It was by far his worst game since the Markieff Morris trade. It looked like the Wizards were going to have Dudley split minutes with Morris, but maybe Dudley only gets minutes in the teens. He's not quite worth holding in standard leagues.
