Aaron Brooks played just nine minutes in Monday's Game 1 win over the Cavs.
Derrick Rose got dinged with a seemingly minor shoulder injury and Jimmy Butler played through an ankle tweak tonight, but barring a major change of events owners need to look at Brooks skeptically in terms of playing time. Date:

Aaron Brooks came off the bench to score 23 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists, four steals and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes.

Derrick Rose left with knee soreness (that the Bulls say isn't a big deal) and Taj Gibson left with a shoulder injury, but both players are supposedly going to be good to go for the playoffs, which start on Saturday against the Bucks. The Bulls were down 60-42 in the third quarter when Brooks took over and they came back to win their fourth straight game, clinching the No. 3 seed along the way. Pau Gasol was nice with 18 points and 13 boards, and Jimmy Butler added 21 points in the win. Joakim Noah sat out with a hamstring injury, but is expected to be ready for the playoffs on Saturday.
Apr 16 - 1:06 AM

Aaron Brooks came off the bench to hit 5-of-11 shots and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes to finish with 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals as Derrick Rose returned to the starting lineup for the Bulls.

There's a chance that Rose could start again on Thursday, and the more he plays the better the chances are that Brooks will struggle. He was decent tonight, but if Rose is prepared to start the rest of the way for the Bulls, Brooks will be a risky play.
Apr 8 - 10:29 PM

Aaron Brooks bounced back from Friday's disappointing five-point effort on Sunday, scoring 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting to go with five rebounds, six assists, two 3-pointers, one steal and an unfortunate seven turnovers through 38 minutes of action.

Brooks has played relatively well as the starting point guard for the Bulls, averaging 14.0 points, 4.3 assists, and 1.5 three-pointers per game, but he’s also shooting just 39.1 percent from the field. His value is due to take a substantial hit with Derrick Rose targeting a return sometime this week. Rose will however be eased back into the rotation, but those limited minutes will be coming at the expense of Brooks. However, Rose is still without an official return date, so don't go dropping him just yet.
Apr 5 - 6:59 PM

Aaron Brooks scored just five points on 2-of-9 shooting with one assist over 26 minutes in Friday's 88-82 win over the Pistons.

Brooks was a cut candidate before tonight and this might seal the deal with most owners. Derrick Rose is on the verge of returning, so feel free to make the move if you see a better option.
Apr 4 - 1:06 AM

Aaron Brooks scored 12 points against the Knicks on Saturday with one rebound, five assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes.

Derrick Rose (knee) is going through practices now and he's going to have a chance to make his return this week. If that does happen, Brooks is likely going to lose some fantasy value. He's a cut candidate in several formats.
Mar 28 - 10:27 PM

Aaron Brooks scored 13 points on 6-of-10 from the field with 10 assists against the Hornets in 33 minutes on Monday.

Derrick Rose (knee) is getting closer to a return and could get a full practice in as soon as this week. This will likely be Brooks' last week at turning in noteworthy fantasy value in standard leagues, so his owners should be keeping their options open and might want to drop him for a hot free agent in the coming days.
Mar 24 - 12:25 AM

Aaron Brooks scored 19 points with three rebounds, five assists, one block and three 3-pointers in 37 minutes against the Pistons on Saturday.

He made 6-of-12 from the field for one of his most efficient games since the break. In his previous 16 outings, Brooks averaged just 13.2 points, 2.2 boards, 3.9 assists, 0.4 steals and 1.2 treys on 36.7 percent from the field. He should have at least until the end of the month to put up stats with Derrick Rose (knee) on the mend.
Mar 21 - 10:32 PM

Aaron Brooks scored 11 points on 5-of-14 shooting Sunday, adding three assists, one rebound and three turnovers.

A regression to the mean should have been expected for Brooks after he shot a combined 21-of-37 from the field (56.8 percent) over his last two outings, especially considering he had to matchup with Russell Westbrook. Still, Brooks is deserving of ownership in all standard leagues as the starting point guard for Chicago with averages of 15.3 points, 4.3 assists, and 1.5 three-pointers per game with the first unit.
Mar 15 - 5:34 PM

Aaron Brooks scored a game-high 24 points against the Hornets on Friday with two rebounds, four assists and one 3-pointer.

The Hornets have been giving up some big lines to point guards these days, but at least Brooks didn't disappoint. After a miserable four-point game on Mar. 6, Brooks averaged 23.0 points per game with 2.0 treys in his last four. He should be owned in all standard leagues.
Mar 13 - 9:57 PM

Aaron Brooks hit 12-of-20 shots and three 3-pointers for a season-high 31 points, four rebounds and five assists in Wednesday's win over the Sixers.

Brooks is finally hot for the Bulls, averaging 15.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and a 3-pointer per game over his last five. His scoring has been much better over his last three games (between 15-31 points), and he's finally living up to the hype. Start him with confidence.
Mar 11 - 11:33 PM

Aaron Brooks scored 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, four assists and one steal in Monday's loss.

This is probably a good approximation of what Brooks will return to owners while Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler are out.
Mar 10 - 12:07 AM

Aaron Brooks finally got his shot to fall during Sunday's loss to the Spurs, putting up 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting (7-of-8 from the stripe), with one 3-pointer, two rebounds, three assists and three turnovers over 26 minutes of action.

This was the first time that Brooks hit at least 50 percent of his shot attempts since February 10, which tells you the kind of month he's been having. Despite Brooks' recent struggles, he's locked in as the starting point guard for the Bulls, and with Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler out, he is going to have plenty of opportunities on offense. He's worth owning in standard leagues.
Mar 8 - 5:25 PM

Aaron Brooks continued to struggle in Friday's loss, hitting just 2-of-11 shots for four points, one rebound, two assists and one block in 24 minutes of action.

Brooks isn't known for his defense, so if he's not hitting his shots there's a decent chance his minutes will go elsewhere. He has hit just 28.2 percent of his shots on 10.9 attempts per game for an astounding 13 games. Not only is he in a position to do damage as the starter, but the upcoming bounce-back shooting the ball will likely make him the owner of some very good stat lines. Hold on and give him strong consideration in your lineup.
Mar 6 - 11:32 PM

Aaron Brooks made just 2-of-8 from the field against the Thunder on Thursday for six points with three rebounds and seven assists in 24 minutes.

He attempted a whopping 23 shots in Tuesday and has at least 15 shots from the field in each of his last three games. Brooks lost a decent chunk of playing time because of the E'twaun Moore Show, but it's unclear if that show will get another episode after its pilot tonight. Brooks is still worth owning in standard leagues and gets a better matchup against the Pacers on Friday.
