Pistons waive F/C Joel Anthony.
This was an expected move. Anthony was let go in order to make room for Boban Marjanovic. With Andre Drummond and Aron Baynes already in the fold, Detroit may now boast the most intimidating center rotation in the NBA. Jul 11 - 11:58 AM

The Pistons will reportedly waive Joel Anthony to make room for Boban Marjanovic.

He'll be a negligent fantasy option in most leagues regardless of where he winds up.

Joel Anthony has been named to Canada's 12-man Olympic team.

Anthony could use international play in order to generate more interest around the NBA in his services. Canada will have to get through the qualifying round of games in order to get to Rio to participate in the Olympics.

The Pistons are not expected to pick up the $2.5 million option on Joel Anthony's contract for the 2016-17 season, according to Keith Langlois of NBA.com

Stan Van Gundy did not mention Anthony by name when recently discussing the upcoming season, so Langlois took that as evidence that the big man is unlikely to return. Detroit already has Andre Drummond, Aron Baynes and the recently acquired Cameron Bairstow at center, so Anthony as an insurance policy is probably no longer necessary. For what it's worth, SVG added that he'd like to acquire two additional big men during the offseason.

Joel Anthony blocked a career-high eight shots in 25 minutes vs. Cleveland, adding seven points and four rebounds in the Pistons' road win.

Anthony is a blocks specialist, through and through, but he rarely gets enough playing time to be a real factor. Fantasy owners shouldn't give him a second thought.
Apr 13 - 11:36 PM

Joel Anthony (trade voided) is back in Detroit and will be available to play Wednesday vs. Philadelphia.

While he'll be available to play tonight, there are no guarantees that he actually steps foot on the court, as he's a negligible part of Detroit's rotation more often than not. Leave him on the wire.
Feb 24 - 11:53 AM

The 76ers acquired Joel Anthony as a part of the three-team trade with the Rockets and Pistons.

The 76ers will pick up a second-round pick in this deal. Anthony could be waived and has no fantasy value right now.
Feb 18 - 3:28 PM

The Pistons traded Joel Anthony to the Rockets in a three-player swap on Thursday.

Anthony's inclusion is purely procedural, as the Rockets' real incentive was the protected first-round pick they'll receive in exchange for Donatas Motiejunas and Marcus Thornton. Anthony has attempted five shots all season and may not crack the rotation in Houston -- he's not on the radar at any depth.
Feb 18 - 12:25 PM

Joel Anthony will re-sign with the Pistons on a two-year deal worth $5 million.

He only played 8.3 minutes per game in 49 outings and was basically only in the game when the Pistons had injuries or during garbage time. Anthony has no fantasy value. The second year of this deal is not guaranteed.

The Pistons want to re-sign Joel Anthony this offseason.

This is Anthony's first blurb in three months, an indication of his fantasy value. "Obviously we can't negotiate with him yet, we can't talk money," Van Gundy said. "I talked to him (Friday). Again, we've told him consistently we would like to have him back."

Joel Anthony swatted three shots and grabbed five rebounds in just nine minutes off Detroit's bench on Sunday.

The Pistons' veteran center has a ridiculous block percentage of 9.1 percent this season and he's useful as a streamer for blocks, with a handful of rebounds as an added bonus. Anthony's minutes have increased slightly since Greg Monroe (knee) went down, and it's still a tiny sample size, but for perspective consider that league-leader Rudy Gobert has a block percentage of 7.2 percent.

Joel Anthony (groin) will not play on Tuesday vs. the Lakers.

He reportedly felt better during the Pistons' shootaround but coach Stan Van Gundy opted to keep him on the inactive list. Anthony has no fantasy appeal even when he's 100 percent healthy.
Tue, Mar 10, 2015 10:43:00 PM

Joel Anthony (groin) will not play vs. the Hornets on Sunday.

He is not a part of the rotation in Detroit anyways, so his absence won't have any fantasy implications. Leave Anthony on the wire.
Sun, Mar 8, 2015 05:59:00 PM

Joel Anthony (groin) will be traded to the Pistons in exchange for Will Bynum.

The Pistons are going to use Greg Monroe to soak up a lot of minutes at center, so Anthony's role is not going to be significant with his new team. He has no fantasy value and might not even have made the Celtics.
Fri, Oct 17, 2014 09:58:00 AM

Joel Anthony (groin) was withheld from Friday's scrimmage.

Anthony is just an emergency depth guy for the Celtics, and he's not going to average enough minutes for standard league consideration.
