C.J. Watson played 29 minutes against the Heat on Friday with seven points, two rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer.
This was a big surprise after not playing on Wednesday. Watson played most of his minutes at shooting guard tonight and he will likely play more with Victor Oladipo (concussion) possibly out for the season. Apr 8 - 10:35 PM

C.J. Watson (ankle) didn't leave Orlando's bench on Wednesday.

We'll leave him on the injury report but this could easily have been a DNP coach's decision, as Scott Skiles has both Elfrid Payton and Brandon Jennings at his disposal.
Apr 6 - 10:20 PM

C.J. Watson (ankle) will not play on Sunday vs. the Grizzlies.

Watson has only been getting limited minutes with Elfrid Payton and Brandon Jennings healthy, so this doesn't have any fantasy implications. Shabazz Napier will be activated for Sunday's game and will be the third-string PG.
Apr 3 - 4:17 PM

C.J. Watson did not play vs. the Raptors on Sunday.

The veteran missed Saturday's practice due to stitches in his lip, but the apparent cause for his DNP was the return of Elfrid Payton (elbow). The best case-scenario for Watson is a three-way timeshare with Payton and Brandon Jennings, with Watson as the low man on the totem pole. Avoid him.
Mar 20 - 7:58 PM

C.J. Watson is fully expected to play on Sunday vs. the Raptors.

He sat out of Saturday's practice because he had to get three stitches on his lip, but coach Scott Skiles said he's good to go. Even with Elfrid Payton (elbow) out, Watson isn't worth deploying in most fantasy leagues.
Mar 20 - 12:04 PM

C.J. Watson scored five points with two assists against the Cavs on Friday.

He needed three stitches and he should be fine for his next time out. Elfrid Payton (elbow) is getting closer to a return, so Watson loses appeal in even deep leagues.
Mar 18 - 10:21 PM

C.J. Watson played through illness on Wednesday, finishing with seven points, seven assists, three rebounds and one 3-pointer in 26 minutes.

The veteran split PG minutes with Brandon Jennings, as Elfrid Payton (elbow) was once again unavailable. Watson is in Scott Skiles' good graces but he lacks significant fantasy upside, and isn't worth owning while Jennings and/or Payton are healthy.
Mar 16 - 10:20 PM

C.J. Watson (illness) is available to play for Tuesday's game against the Nuggets.

Watson is going to gut it out through his illness tonight, although he'll likely be limited and is an unattractive target in most settings as a reserve for the Magic.
Mar 15 - 5:22 PM

C.J. Watson (illness) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Nuggets.

Watson is dealing with an illness and will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Nuggets. With Elfrid Payton (elbow) already declared out, the offense could run through Victor Oladipo Tuesday night if Watson is unable to play. Brandon Jennings (Achilles) would also see an uptick in fantasy value if Watson sits.

C.J. Watson struggled in his second straight start on Saturday vs. the Blazers, scoring three points on 1-of-9 shooting in 24 minutes.

Watson added four assists, two boards, one block and three turnovers, but he was exposed tonight and looked awful. Even if Brandon Jennings (Achilles) and Elfrid Payton (elbow) need to miss more time, Watson belongs on the wire outside of the deepest of leagues.
Mar 13 - 1:07 AM

C.J. Watson started and scored 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting during Friday's win over the Kings, to go with three boards, five assists, one steal, one block and one turnover in 34 minutes.

Watson got the start tonight with Elfrid Payton (elbow) unavailable, and while he was the preferred point guard for Scott Skiles in this one, it's anyone's guess if that trend will continue with Skiles constantly tinkering with his rotations. Brandon Jennings registered four points, two rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and two turnovers in 14 minutes off the bench, and the point guard situation in Orlando is one that should be avoided in most leagues.
Mar 12 - 12:38 AM

C.J. Watson will start in place of Elfrid Payton (elbow) on Friday vs. the Kings.

This is a tough blow for Brandon Jennings and his owners probably should just move on at this point. Coach Scott Skiles has gone mad again after three straight losses, but Watson is still not worth an add outside of deeper leagues. Daily Slant: While Watson looks like the nice, shiny object as the interim starter at PG, he's not a terribly strong DFS play tonight with a dearth of value available elsewhere. On the Orlando side, Victor Oladipo is the top target against a Kings team that cannot defend SGs, and with Nikola Vucevic out, his usage jumps to about 25%. Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon are also elite DFS targets.
Mar 11 - 1:58 PM

C.J. Watson played 26 minutes vs. the Lakers on Tuesday, scoring 10 points with five assists, three boards and one steal.

Prior to Tuesday's game, Watson was averaging 3.7 points and 2.4 assists on 30.9 percent shooting from the field, but coach Scott Skiles had another meltdown and benched both Elfrid Payton and Brandon Jennings down the stretch of this one. To be clear, Watson isn't worth a look in almost any league unless he strings together a couple of good performances.
Mar 9 - 12:51 AM

C.J. Watson played 30 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Mavericks, scoring seven points with six assists, two boards and one 3-pointer.

Evan Fournier's wrist could cost him some time, so Watson may be looking at decent minutes in the rotation. His upside isn't great and he's not going to be too involved on offense, so he's only on the radar in very deep leagues. For what it's worth, Watson averaged 2.3 points through six appearances in February.
Mar 1 - 11:35 PM

C.J. Watson played 15 minutes off the bench on Thursday with six points, two rebounds, three assists and no turnovers.

Earlier in his return from injury this month, Watson was getting almost all of his minutes as an off-guard. He is getting some minutes at the one now, but he's obviously off the radar in almost any league.
