C.J. Watson scored 10 points with two rebounds, three assists, one steal and zero turnovers in 28 minutes on Tuesday, helping Indiana defeat the visiting Pelicans.
Rodney Stuckey added six points, five boards and four assists with some defensive stats, but both starting guards are on notice with George Hill (knee, quad) back in action. Watson's role seems the most precarious, though coach Frank Vogel has yet to reveal his ideal starting lineup. Dec 23 - 10:27 PM

Date:

C.J. Watson returned from a sinus infection to finish Sunday's road win in Minnesota with seven points, one 3-pointer, two rebounds, four assists, two steals and three turnovers.

Unfortunately, the impending return of George Hill makes Watson an unlikely source of long-term value -- he played 29 minutes on Sunday and that number will only decrease in the coming weeks. Former starter Donald Sloan also remains a threat to Watson's value, finishing Sunday's game with 10 points and seven assists in 19 minutes.
Dec 21 - 10:46 PM

C.J. Watson (illness) will start vs. the Timberwolves on Sunday.

Watson missed one game with a sinus infection and he should be fine from a conditioning standpoint, while his return sends Donald Sloan back to the Pacers' bench. Watson is worth a look for temporary points and assists.
Dec 21 - 5:49 PM

C.J. Watson (illness) is out for Saturday's game vs. the Nuggets, and Donald Sloan will draw the start.

Watson is dealing with a sinus infection, so he shouldn't be in too much danger of missing additional time. Sloan is worth a look for owners in need of short-term value, but owners in standard leagues should probably look the other way with George Hill's return on the horizon.
Dec 20 - 7:39 PM

C.J. Watson is questionable for Saturday against the Nuggets with an illness.

He was probable as of Friday with a sinus infection, so a downgrade doesn't sound promising. Watson would be looking at a chance to start, but he hasn't been involved in the offense much since his return. If he's out, Donald Sloan would be worth a look.
Dec 20 - 2:02 PM

C.J. Watson (illness) is probable to play against the Nuggets on Saturday.

He did not finish practice and has been ill since Wednesday. Watson should be fine, but his fantasy value is about to take a hit with George Hill almost ready to go.
Dec 19 - 7:42 PM

C.J. Watson had 12 points, four assists and five turnovers on 3-of-9 shooting in Wednesday's loss.

CJW is likely going to continue to start until George Hill is ready to play again, so he's worth holding until we see Hill back on the floor after his knee injury.
Dec 18 - 2:36 AM

C.J. Watson (illness) will start against the Clippers on Wednesday.

He missed shootaround due to an illness, but it sounds like he's good to go based on the starting distinction. Watson has been inconsistent on the season, averaging 11.2 points, 4.4 assists and 1.2 triples in 25.0 minutes. He's worth owning in deeper leagues until George Hill (knee) is back.
Dec 17 - 9:05 PM

C.J. Watson was not at shootaround and is questionable to face the Clippers on Wednesday due to a sinus infection.

He has been playing around 30 minutes per night before taking garbage time into account, so the Pacers would have a big hole to fill. Donald Sloan would pick up some extra playing time while Rodney Stuckey's minutes would be extremely safe.
Dec 17 - 3:19 PM

C.J. Watson scored 12 points on 3-of-3 shooting (6-of-7 FTs) with zero rebounds, four assists and two steals over 23 minutes in Monday's blowout win.

Watson's line wouldn't have had as many holes if he played the full amount, but looking forward George Hill's eventual return will steal away his upside. Tonight's minutes will probably look pretty familiar when that happens though, so he could retain low-end value in 12-16 team leagues at that point.
Dec 16 - 1:26 AM

C.J. Watson had his best game of the season on Saturday with 23 points, one rebound, five assists and four 3-pointers in 33 minutes.

He made just 37.1 percent from the field this season before tonight, but buried 8-of-11 in a losing effort. His minutes have been on the rise and he should be able to keep his minutes in the mid 20s even when George Hill gets back. He's worth a look for owners need treys.
Dec 13 - 9:18 PM

C.J. Watson started at point guard in Friday's loss, scoring 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting (including two threes) with three rebounds, four assists and one steal in 30 minutes.

Watson has been knocking off the rust for the most part since returning to action but this is a nice look for him. He's worth a hard look for a chance at solid late-round value while George Hill is out.
Dec 13 - 12:54 AM

C.J. Watson will enter the starting lineup on Friday, with Rodney Stuckey shifting over to SG, and Solomon Hill headed to the bench.

Watson will be tasked with running the Pacers' offense, but he's a risky play in daily leagues due to his hit-or-miss nature. Stuckey could benefit by moving to his natural position of shooting guard, and he has a decent matchup vs. the Raptors tonight. Watson is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues, as George Hill is still not close to making a return.

C.J. Watson hit just 1-of-7 shots for eight points, seven assists and two steals in 28 minutes on Wednesday.

He came off the bench, but given how poorly some of the Pacer starters have played lately, it's not out of the question that CJW is starting soon. He'll take a hit once George Hill is back, and has been pretty inconsistent thus far, but after the Pacer starters were benched tonight, things could be changing in Indy.
Dec 10 - 10:59 PM

C.J. Watson logged 36 minutes against the Kings on Friday, scoring 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds and three assists.

Frank Vogel may want to keep him in the second unit to maintain continuity whenever George Hill gets back, but it was clear he wanted Watson on the court tonight. Rodney Stuckey (14 points, three assists, four steals, two threes) started at the point tonight and Donald Sloan was a DNP-CD, and that's not exactly a murderer's row of players to hop if you're Watson. He'll need this type of run to crack standard leagues, but for now just give him a look in deeper formats.
