C.J. Watson will return to the bench for Tuesday's game against the Bulls.
As a starter, Watson only managed to compile averages of 8.5 points, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steal, 1.0 3-pointer and 2.0 turnovers per game on 33.3 percent shooting, so it's not surprising to see him demoted to the second unit. Jeff Green will get the start in his place tonight, but he's not worth much more than a dart throw in DFS. Jan 24 - 5:33 PM

C.J. Watson went 4-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from the stripe on Sunday, on his way to 12 points, two boards, four assists, one 3-pointer, two steals and four turnovers in 36 minutes.

Watson is about as hit-or-miss as they come, so while he did manage to put up an effective stat line tonight, his contributions to the box score his last time out as a starter were negligible. We’d like to see him do this again before recommending him as an add in most leagues.
Jan 22 - 2:42 PM

C.J. Watson started at shooting guard on Friday vs. the Bucks, but scored five points on 2-of-8 shooting in 31 minutes.

He might be one of the least exciting starters in the league right now. The workload was surprising and it looks like Mario Hezonja (13 minutes) is still in the doghouse. Watson added five rebounds, two assists and a triple, but isn't worth picking up in most leagues even with Evan Fournier (foot, heel) and Jodie Meeks (thumb) out.

C.J. Watson will start at shooting guard against the Bucks on Friday.

With Evan Fournier (foot, heel) and Jodie Meeks (thumb) out, the move makes sense as coach Frank Vogel sticks with his rotation. After the Meeks injury, the shooting guard minutes breakdown went 10 minutes for Watson, seven minutes for D.J. Augustin and three minutes for Mario Hezonja. Watson should get the bulk of the minutes at shooting guard, but he's a very risky DFS play or pickup in deep leagues. We'll see if Mario gets some SG minutes tonight, but he's not a pickup just yet.
Jan 20 - 5:22 PM

C.J. Watson (illness) played 21 minutes on Sunday, scoring two points (0-of-6 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs) with one rebound and one steal.

The veteran was questionable to suit up and his status wasn't updated before tip-off, but he wound up getting some run for Orlando's new-look second unit. Frank Vogel ran a tight eight-man rotation tonight, so Watson is worth a glance in deep leagues.

C.J. Watson (illness) is questionable to play Sunday vs. the Bucks.

Watson is only averaging 11.7 minutes a night with the Magic, so his absence would have any dramatic consequences in fantasy hoops. D.J. Augustin and Elfrid Payton will likely split Watson's minutes if he is indeed unavailable.

C.J. Watson came off Orlando's bench for six points, one rebound and zero assists in 22 minutes on Wednesday, as the Magic fell to the Cavs in Cleveland.

Watson is coming off a dreadful 2015-16 season during which he shot 34.3 percent from the field, the lowest mark in his nine-year career. He'd be lucky to earn minutes behind Elfrid Payton (hip) and D.J. Augustin this season.

C.J. Watson played 29 minutes against the Heat on Friday with seven points, two rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer.

This was a big surprise after not playing on Wednesday. Watson played most of his minutes at shooting guard tonight and he will likely play more with Victor Oladipo (concussion) possibly out for the season.

C.J. Watson (ankle) didn't leave Orlando's bench on Wednesday.

We'll leave him on the injury report but this could easily have been a DNP coach's decision, as Scott Skiles has both Elfrid Payton and Brandon Jennings at his disposal.
Wed, Apr 6, 2016 10:20:00 PM

C.J. Watson (ankle) will not play on Sunday vs. the Grizzlies.

Watson has only been getting limited minutes with Elfrid Payton and Brandon Jennings healthy, so this doesn't have any fantasy implications. Shabazz Napier will be activated for Sunday's game and will be the third-string PG.

C.J. Watson did not play vs. the Raptors on Sunday.

The veteran missed Saturday's practice due to stitches in his lip, but the apparent cause for his DNP was the return of Elfrid Payton (elbow). The best case-scenario for Watson is a three-way timeshare with Payton and Brandon Jennings, with Watson as the low man on the totem pole. Avoid him.
Sun, Mar 20, 2016 07:58:00 PM

C.J. Watson is fully expected to play on Sunday vs. the Raptors.

He sat out of Saturday's practice because he had to get three stitches on his lip, but coach Scott Skiles said he's good to go. Even with Elfrid Payton (elbow) out, Watson isn't worth deploying in most fantasy leagues.
Sun, Mar 20, 2016 12:04:00 PM

C.J. Watson scored five points with two assists against the Cavs on Friday.

He needed three stitches and he should be fine for his next time out. Elfrid Payton (elbow) is getting closer to a return, so Watson loses appeal in even deep leagues.
Fri, Mar 18, 2016 10:21:00 PM

C.J. Watson played through illness on Wednesday, finishing with seven points, seven assists, three rebounds and one 3-pointer in 26 minutes.

The veteran split PG minutes with Brandon Jennings, as Elfrid Payton (elbow) was once again unavailable. Watson is in Scott Skiles' good graces but he lacks significant fantasy upside, and isn't worth owning while Jennings and/or Payton are healthy.
Wed, Mar 16, 2016 10:20:00 PM

C.J. Watson (illness) is available to play for Tuesday's game against the Nuggets.

Watson is going to gut it out through his illness tonight, although he'll likely be limited and is an unattractive target in most settings as a reserve for the Magic.
