C.J. Watson (calf) is not expected to play Friday vs. the Bucks.
"I'm trying to get better," Watson said. "Hopefully, I'll be back sooner than later, but it's very frustrating just to be able to sit on the bench and not be able to help the guys and be on the court with them." Head coach Scott Skiles said that Watson recently went through some on court work, but he was pulled from the activity due to a noticeable limp. Friday will mark Watson's eighth consecutive game on the sidelines, and he belongs on the waiver wire in all leagues. Nov 26 - 4:29 PM

C.J. Watson (calf) will not play against the Knicks on Wednesday.

That means Shabazz Napier is the backup point guard. Although, Victor Oladipo coming off the bench likely means he gets more minutes at the one as a combo guard. Watson has very little value after missing his seventh game.
Nov 25 - 5:27 PM

C.J. Watson (calf) is listed as out for Monday's game against the Cavaliers.

Watson is dealing with a strained left calf and hasn't played since Nov. 9, but it's not a good sign that the Magic ruled him out so quickly. Elfrid Payton's minutes have been on the rise lately, meaning Shabazz Napier will likely see minutes in the teens as the backup point guard on Monday.
Nov 22 - 10:38 AM

C.J. Watson (sore left calf) did not practice on Thursday.

Watson has missed four straight games and this news doesn't bode well for his availability against the Kings on Saturday. Watson should be ignored in almost all fantasy leagues.
Nov 19 - 1:07 PM

C.J. Watson (sore left calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves.

Shabazz Napier will see some increased opportunity sans Watson, but with Victor Oladipo (concussion) set to return on Wednesday, Napier is unlikely to earn enough minutes to matter in most leagues.
Nov 18 - 11:58 AM

C.J. Watson (sore left calf) was held out of Monday's practice.

Watson's calf injury has kept him out since November 11, and with Victor Oladipo (concussion) also out of the lineup, Shabazz Napier is earning extra time off the bench backing up Elfrid Payton as a result.

C.J. Watson (calf) will not play on Saturday vs. the Wizards.

Watson tried to warm up but his calf was still too sore and this will now be his third consecutive game on the sidelines. With Victor Oladipo (concussion) also out, Shabazz Napier will have a decent role off the bench.
Nov 14 - 6:33 PM

C.J. Watson (calf) could play against the Wizard on Saturday.

That likely means he's available and he's not a lock for minutes. If he plays, that would likely take a couple minutes from Elfrid Payton and Shabazz Napier
Nov 14 - 5:42 PM

C.J. Watson (calf) will not play on Friday vs. the Jazz.

This will be his second consecutive game on the sidelines. With Victor Oladipo dealing with a concussion, Shabazz Napier will get another chance to be the first guard off the bench. Expect Elfrid Payton's minutes to be a little more consistent as well.
Nov 13 - 11:28 AM

C.J. Watson (calf) will not play against the Lakers on Wednesday.

That means Shabazz Napier should be the first point guard off the bench, and it also makes Elfrid Payton slightly more reliable in fantasy tonight. Watson is only worth a look in very deep leagues.
Nov 11 - 5:21 PM

C.J. Watson (cut lip) will be available to play in Wednesday's game vs. the Rockets.

Watson busted open his lip during Tuesday's game, but he was never really in any danger of missing tonight's matchup with the Rockets. That being said, he's not earning enough minutes as a reserve for the Magic to warrant ownership in most leagues.
Nov 4 - 6:50 PM

C.J. Watson needed five stitches on his lip after he was tangled up in a play with Toney Douglas in Tuesday's win over the Pelicans.

To be clear, Watson will be fine moving forward and will continue to back up Elfrid Payton at point guard. Watson finished with five points, two boards and two assists in 20 minutes and isn't worth owning in most fantasy leagues while Payton is active.
Nov 3 - 11:12 PM

C.J. Watson would be the Magic's starting point guard for the season opener on October 28 if Elfrid Payton (hamstring) is unable to play.

Watson doesn't have much long-term value to offer, but he could serve as a solid plug-and-play option for opening night if Payton is unable to suit up. We'll keep Payton's status updated, but fantasy owners in daily leagues will want to keep an eye on this situation.
Oct 22 - 11:44 AM

C.J. Watson will start Tuesday's preseason game against the Heat.

Elfrid Payton is dealing with a minor hamstring injury, so Watson will get the opporutnity to start tonight. Victor Oladipo, Evan Fournier, Channing Frye and Nikola Vucavic will join Watson in the starting lineup, and Aaron Gordon will make his preseason debut off the bench.

C.J. Watson has agreed to a three-year, $15 million deal with the Orlando Magic.

The Magic got rid of Luke Ridnour and Ben Gordon this summer, so they finally were able to add some additional depth to their backcourt on Saturday. Watson is a solid combo guard who averaged 10.0 points, 3.6 assists, 2.9 boards, 1.0 steals and 1.2 3-pointers for the Pacers last season, and he could be one of the first players off the bench for the Magic next season. In terms of fantasy, Watson is only on the radar in deeper leagues.
