Joey Dorsey will start against the Hornets on Monday.
Dwight is resting on the second half of a back-to-back set. Dorsey will likely play minutes close to 30, but he isn't very good on offense and is one of the worst foul shooters in the NBA. Terrence Jones and Josh Smith also benefit. Clint Capela should get some playing time, too. Apr 13 - 5:36 PM

Date:

Joey Dorsey started at center on Wednesday with Dwight Howard and Donatas Motiejunas out with injuries, and had seven points, 11 boards and a steal in 32 minutes.

Howard is expected to play on Thursday, so Dorsey's run should be a short one. Just keep an eye on him.
Apr 2 - 12:04 AM

Joey Dorsey will start at center on Wednesday with Dwight Howard resting his knee during Houston's back-to-back set.

Dorsey is a non-factor in standard leagues even when starting. He's averaging 3.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 fouls in just 15.2 minutes during his 15 starts this season, and was even the victim of a Hack-a-Dorsey strategy on Sunday.
Apr 1 - 7:04 PM

Joey Dorsey started the second half for Terrence Jones (rib) on Thursday against the Nuggets, finishing with three points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal in 20 minutes.

Even though Jones is going to miss time, Dorsey is not really capable of putting up big lines. In his previous starts this season, Dorsey averaged 3.3 points, 4.1 boards, 0.3 blocks and 0.6 steals. If that sounds appealing to you, give him a look.
Mar 19 - 11:23 PM

Joey Dorsey made a surprise start on Tuesday but finished with only two points, four rebounds and one block in seven minutes vs. the Magic.

He was sent back to the bench after halftime and his fleeting moment in the sun doesn't have lasting implications. Even with Dwight Howard (knee) still out at least another week, Dorsey is persona non grata in fantasy leagues.
Mar 17 - 11:31 PM

Joey Dorsey will start at center vs. the Magic on Tuesday.

He'll give Orlando a more physical presence to battle Nikola Vucevic, but isn't a fantasy option outside of the very deepest leagues. Donatas Motiejunas will start alongside Dorsey with Terrence Jones coming off the bench, but Jones should still log heavy enough minutes for reliable value.

Joey Dorsey (ankle) is probable for Saturday's game against the Raptors.

Dorsey has been extremely quiet since moving into the starting lineup in place of Dwight Howard, so playing at less than 100 percent certainly isn't going to make him very appealing. Leave Dorsey on the wire in all but the deepest of leagues.
Feb 21 - 12:56 PM

Joey Dorsey was invisible in another start for Dwight Howard (knee) on Sunday, scoring two points with three rebounds and no other stats to his credit in 13 minutes.

Houston has enough frontcourt depth to shun Dorsey most nights, and he's basically a token starter. Dorsey's play is poor enough to make the Rockets regret waiving Tarik Black earlier this season, and fantasy owners shouldn't go anywhere near him.
Feb 8 - 10:20 PM

Joey Dorsey made a rare start on Sunday with Dwight Howard (ankle) unavailable, notching four points with seven boards, one steal, one block and four personal fouls in 25 minutes.

Tonight's line is a good indication of Dorsey's lack of value, even if Howard's injury forces him to miss more games. Josh Smith (11 points, five boards) and Donatas Motiejunas (eight points, nine boards) are better targets in Dwight's absence.
Jan 26 - 12:07 AM

Joey Dorsey will draw the start against the Lakers on Sunday in place of Dwight Howard (ankle).

Dorsey's game doesn't translate to fantasy very well, so he should only be considered in ridiculously deep leagues for owners in need of short-term value. The real beneficiaries in Howard's absence will be Donatas Motiejunas and Josh Smith.

Joey Dorsey played 20 minutes against the Suns on Friday with four points, six boards, two steals and one block.

If Dwight Howard is going to miss time, Dorsey should get some run. He's obviously not going to play much more than 24 minutes, so he can be left on the wire in just about all leagues.
Jan 24 - 1:40 AM

Joey Dorsey played 33 minutes against the Kings on Thursday with no points, nine rebounds, two assists, five steals and one block.

He missed both attempts from the field and all four from the line in the anti-Korver line of the night. Dorsey was not getting much playing time before tonight and Dwight Howard (knee) could return on Saturday, so he can be left on the wire.
Fri, Dec 12, 2014 02:07:00 AM

Joey Dorsey played four minutes in his season debut against the Celtics on Saturday.

The only stats he registered were a missed field goal attempt and a foul. Dorsey may get in the rotation if Tarik Black (thigh) and Dwight Howard (knee) need to miss time.
Sun, Nov 2, 2014 01:00:00 AM

Joey Dorsey never left the Rockets' bench on Tuesday.

Dorsey should be ignored in fantasy leagues. He shot a combined 1-of-7 from the FT line so he's emulating Dwight Howard in at least one area.
Wed, Oct 29, 2014 02:36:00 AM

Joey Dorsey (ankle) was back practicing on Saturday with the Rockets.

He is finally starting to get over the ankle injury that has forced him out of a couple of exhibition games. While Dorsey will provide Dwight Howard some much needed relief minutes, he won't see enough run to be considered in almost all formats.
