Kosta Koufos will exercise his $8.7 million player option to remain with the Kings for the 2018-19 season.
The 29-year-old Koufos is entering his fourth year with Sacramento, having averaged 6.7 points and 6.6 rebounds in 19.6 minutes per game last season. He was unlikely to command a higher annual salary as a free agent, and is likely betting that he can lock up one more long-term deal in 2019. No matter where he's playing, he'll go undrafted in all but the deepest fantasy leagues. May 10 - 12:25 AM

Kosta Koufos was huge for Sacramento in Thursday's win over Atlanta, tallying 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, four steals and four blocks over 32 minutes.

Koufos has played well when given the minutes this season, but the problem is that he’s working in a loaded frontcourt, which essentially guarantees inconsistent playing time. Additionally, the defensive stats were an anomaly, as Koufos has only once averaged more than a block per game over the course of a season throughout his nine-year career, and that was five years ago. He’s really nothing more than a low-end, rebounding specialist in deep leagues.
Mar 23 - 1:35 AM

Kosta Koufos came off the bench with six points, four rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one steal in 18 minutes vs. the Heat on Wednesday.

Koufos ceded the starting job to Willie Cauley-Stein but fantasy owners should be pleased that he continues to suit up night after night. The threat of DNP-CDs was initially reduced while Cauley-Stein (back) was out, and now it's Skal Labissiere (hip) who continues to miss games. The risk is palpable, but Koufos is paying off for owners who've gambled on him in March.
Mar 15 - 1:28 AM

Kosta Koufos will not start vs. Miami on Wednesday.

Willie Cauley-Stein overtook him as the starter and this was inevitable -- Koufos could also be headed for a DNP-CD, but we'll find out soon.
Mar 14 - 9:46 PM

Kosta Koufos started and played 16 minutes on Monday, finishing with six points, 10 rebounds and no blocks.

He had four fouls and Willie Cauley-Stein logged 29 minutes in this one, so Koufos' hot streak might have officially come to an end. The good news is that he does have three more games this week and it's anyone's guess if the Kings will rest WCS in any of them, but the only time Koufos is fully trustworthy is when WCS is resting or injured.
Mar 12 - 10:27 PM

Kosta Koufos ended up with 14 points and 10 rebounds across 20 minutes in Sunday's 130-104 loss in Denver.

Koufos was sharp from the field, going 7-of-10, but he did end up a minus-24 as the Nuggets really started pouring it on in the third quarter. That's three pretty strong games in a row from the big man, as he is averaging 12.7 points and 11.0 rebounds per game during the stretch. He has a four-game week starting Monday and is a decent play in deeper formats while running hot.
Mar 11 - 7:36 PM

Kosta Koufos scored 18 points with 13 rebounds and one turnover in 38 minutes against the Magic on Friday.

Great game from Koufos here and the first unit was very effective. Koufos is a very strong bet to rest on Sunday night, so he really can't be counted on in fantasy.
Mar 10 - 12:24 AM

Kosta Koufos scored six points with 10 rebounds, one assist and one block in 20 minutes against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

He'll probably be getting a DNP-CD in the near future, especially with Skal Labissiere playing better lately. Koufos isn't worth adding in most leagues.
Mar 8 - 12:27 AM

De'Aaron Fox, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Justin Jackson, Zach Randolph and Kosta Koufos will start against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

The Kings will go with a bigger lineup against Anthony Davis here with both veteran bigs out there. The Kings also used the two-big lineup against the Jazz last week. Koufos is probably going to get rest in the next few games, but he should get in the 20s for minutes today.
Mar 7 - 9:35 PM

Kosta Koufos ended up with 12 points and eight rebounds across 26 minutes in Sunday's 102-99 win against New York.

Koufos hit 6-of-10 from the field and he also chipped in with an assist and only two turnovers in a starting role, as Willie Cauley-Stein (back) was resting his injury. It's uncertain if WCS will be ready to go by Wednesday, but at least he'll have a couple of days to mend. If not, Koufos is likely to draw another start. He might be a decent low-priced DFS option in the middle if he is plugged into the starting five again.
Mar 5 - 12:40 AM

Kosta Koufos started against the Jazz on Saturday, scoring eight points with seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 25 minutes.

The Kings went with a double-big lineup up front because of the matchup against Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert. Willie Cauley-Stein (back) is probably going to miss Sunday's game, so Koufos could find himself getting minutes again vs. the Knicks. He's only worth a stream and that would change if WCS is a go.
Mar 4 - 12:20 AM

Kosta Koufos (illness) returned to action Saturday against the Lakers and he finished with six points across 14 minutes.

Koufos also was able to gather five rebounds with a plus-10 rating, and he finished 3-of-5 from the field, but he did not offer any other offensive or defensive statistics. If you normally rely upon him in deeper fantasy leagues it appears safe to get back into the active lineup, especially in cumulative formats with a five-game week starting on Monday.
Feb 25 - 2:45 AM

Kosta Koufos (illness) in not listed on the final injury report and is expected to be available for Saturday's game against the Lakers.

It's certainly possible the Kings just hold him out again with Zach Randolph getting a start. Koufos isn't someone most fantasy owners should count on with the Kings having one eye on the lottery.
Feb 24 - 9:26 PM

Kosta Koufos (illness) is questionable for Saturday against the Lakers.

He was reportedly very sick at the arena on Thursday night and it's possible the Kings hold him out again. Koufos being out should mean Zach Randolph would get heavy run as the starter next to Willie Cauley-Stein.
Feb 24 - 3:18 PM

Kosta Koufos (illness) will not play Thursday against the Thunder.

There was a decent chance he was going to be a DNP-CD anyway because of Skal Labissiere expected to be back. Koufos and Zach Randolph will likely sit out games to finish the year as the Kings try to develop their younger players. This is generally a situation to avoid in most leagues until Skal can show he's capable of producing.
