Kosta Koufos started Wednesday's game but he was benched to begin the third quarter, finishing with six points and four rebounds in 15 minutes.
The veteran's role has change repeatedly this season as coach Dave Joerger searches in vain for a winning combination. Koufos has been mentioned in recent trade rumors, but even if he's dealt he's unlikely to land in a fantasy-relevant situation. Jan 5 - 2:20 AM

Kosta Koufos started and scored 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting in Tuesday's win over the Nuggets.

His 18 points were a season high, but it's no coincidence that he did it against his former team. Koufos added five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 29 minutes, but fantasy owners can comfortably leave him on the wire -- he averaged 4.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in his previous three games.

Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting that the Rockets want to add a big man and Sacramento's Kosta Koufos is now a "prime target."

Koufos is averaging 5.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in 19.7 minutes per game for the Kings this season. If traded to Houston, Koufos might see a slight uptick in playing time initially, but would then get bounced to the bench once Clint Capela returned from his leg injury. Kosta would then have to split minutes with Montrezl Harrell and Nene.

Kosta Koufos scored six points on 3-of-3 shooting Sunday to go with nine boards, two steals and three turnovers in 23 minutes.

Koufos had a nice 16-point, 13-board double-double on Friday night, but as per usual he was unable to follow up that stat line with anything meaningful. Koufos has been getting some extra burn with Rudy Gay on the sidelines, but his minutes will largely be dictated by the matchup, making him an unattractive guy to own in standard settings.

Kosta Koufos scored 16 points with 13 rebounds, two assists and three blocks in 30 minutes in Friday's 96-92 win over the Grizzlies.

Due to the matchup and injuries to Rudy Gay (hip) and Omri Casspi (illness), the Kings weren't able to play small tonight but it worked in their favor. He shot 7-of-11 from the field and the points and boards were both season highs. The blocks also matched his season high. He's scored 10+ points and grabbed 7+ boards in three straight games, so he could have some short-term value until the Kings get some bodies back.

Kosta Koufos grabbed 11 rebounds in 19 minutes as a starter on Sunday, but he scored only two points on 1-of-7 shooting.

Kings coach Dave Joerger said the Kings should "play big a little more to deal with Knicks' length," which is likely why he stuck with Koufos as a starter. Sacramento once again was forced to rally back after digging an early deficit, as Joerger has yet to find sustained success with his rotations. Don't be surprised to see another lineup switch vs. the Mavs on Wednesday.

Kosta Koufos started and played nine minutes against the Celtics on Friday, grabbing three rebounds and failing to score.

The Kings looked bad with their big lineup as per usual. Coach Dave Joerger wants to try to get his old style in Memphis going here, but he just doesn't have the personnel for it. Koufos has extremely low upside.

Kosta Koufos started vs. the Nets on Sunday and had six points, two rebounds and two turnovers in 26 minutes of action.

The Nets play with the fastest pace in the league so it was an interesting choice by coach Dave Joerger to start Koufos ahead of Matt Barnes. Tonight's line simply affirms what fantasy owners already know -- there's no reason to touch Koufos outside of very deep leagues.

Kosta Koufos started alongside DeMarcus Cousins on Sunday, sending Matt Barnes to the bench.

Koufos has negligible fantasy upside whether he's starting or coming off the bench -- leave him on the wire.

Kosta Koufos was benched on Sunday but wound up with eight points, six rebounds, three blocks and one steal in 26 minutes of action.

The Kings are switching to a small-ball attack with DeMarcus Cousins at center, yet Koufos' playing time tonight marked an unexpected season-high. The blocks were also a season high and anyone holding him in deep leagues must be pleased. The bulk of fantasy owners can continue ignoring him.

Kosta Koufos started the first half and came off the bench in the second against the Clippers on Friday, failing to score with one rebound in nine minutes.

He wasn't playing good defense, so there's really no point in playing him. Koufos is among the least valuable starters in fantasy.
Sat, Nov 19, 2016 02:44:00 AM

Kosta Koufos started ahead of Matt Barnes on Thursday.

This seemed like a no-brainer against the big Magic frontcourt. Koufos won't have much fantasy value due to a low block rate and being the fifth scoring option almost every moment he's on the court.
Thu, Nov 3, 2016 07:15:00 PM

Kosta Koufos moved to the bench on Tuesday and hit 3-of-4 shots for six points, nine rebounds and a block in 25 minutes.

The numbers weren't much different off the bench than they were as a starter, but he could be back with the first unit in his next game. It appears he was benched for matchup purposes, as the Heat play a small lineup. Matt Barnes started in his place and didn't hit a shot.
Tue, Nov 1, 2016 11:29:00 PM

Matt Barnes has replaced Kosta Koufos in the Kings starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Koufos had started each of the Kings first four games. He was averaging 4.5 points and 6.8 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per game. He was barely worth rostering in deeper leagues even when he was starting, so feel free to cut him for a player with higher upside.
Tue, Nov 1, 2016 07:34:00 PM

Kosta Koufos scored eight points with seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and three turnovers in 24 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday.

He's actually playing well and earned more playing time than his 13 minutes on Wednesday. It was a better matchup for him in this game and he likely tops out at 24 minutes most nights. He's more of a desperation asset in deep leagues due to low upside.
