The Cavs are interested in a trade for Kosta Koufos, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.
If you're a big man capable of protecting the rim who is currently in the NBA, the Cavs are interested in you. Cleveland continues to unsuccessfully dangle Dion Waiters as "trade bait," so it's not a surprise a deal hasn't materialized. Memphis may not even be interested in Waiters, so this could all become moot rather quickly. Dec 8 - 9:36 AM

Kosta Koufos played 13 minutes off the bench on Wednesday with eight points, three rebounds, one steal and one block.

Marc Gasol (knee) is going to get an MRI and he could miss time. Although, there is nothing clear on his status and he could be fine. If Gasol is out, Koufos will be worth a look in standard leagues.
Dec 3 - 11:54 PM

Kosta Koufos (flu) returned to action on Friday, putting up four points with one rebound in 15 minutes off the bench.

Koufos isn't worth your time unless something happens to Marc Gasol, and even then he wasn't a reliable option last year in that exact circumstance.
Nov 21 - 11:29 PM

Kosta Koufos (illness) will play Friday vs. the Celtics.

Koufos will play backup minutes behind Marc Gasol, and he can't be considered an asset in standard leagues. Leave him on the wire.
Nov 21 - 12:41 PM

Kosta Koufos (illness) is questionable to face the Celtics on Friday.

He has been backing up Marc Gasol, but Koufos doesn't have much fantasy value while Gasol and Zach Randolph are healthy.
Nov 20 - 7:39 PM

Kosta Koufos will not play vs. the Raptors on Tuesday due to the flu.

Jon Leuer is also out with the flu, leaving the Grizzlies' frontcourt very thin behind Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph, who will play as many minutes as possible. Jarnell Stokes should also crack the rotation, but it's just as likely that guys like Tayshaun Prince and Quincy Pondexter will play out-of-position minutes in the frontcourt.

Kosta Koufos (flu) is questionable for Wednesday's game.

He will join Tony Allen, Courtney Lee, Beno Udrih and Jon Leuer on the injury list as they are all dealing with flu-like symptoms. Koufos is the first-big off of the bench, so his absence could mean decent minutes for rookie Jarnell Stokes, though he isn't worth targeting in almost any league. Check back for an update before tip-off.
Nov 19 - 1:14 PM

Kosta Koufos scored a season-high 14 points (5-of-5 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) in 25 minutes off the bench on Tuesday, adding three rebounds and one block to help Memphis hold off the visiting Lakers.

Jon Leuer played just nine minutes and isn't a big part of the rotation right now, leaving Koufos as the first big man off the bench. His productivity is a great sight for Grizzlies fans, but it's hardly relevant in fantasy circles while Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph are healthy.
Nov 11 - 11:00 PM

The Memphis Grizzlies have picked up Kosta Koufos' $3 million option for next season.

The Grizzlies guaranteed Koufos the $3 million deal for next season after they decided not to extend a qualifying offer to Ed Davis. Koufos had a semi-productive stretch when Marc Gasol was injured last season, but his 2013-14 averages of 6.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks limit his fantasy value to deeper leagues unless he sees a major uptick from his 16.9 minutes per game last season.
Jul 1 - 11:08 AM

The Grizzlies are "likely" to pick up Kosta Koufos' $3 million team option, according to beat writer Ronald Tillery.

Koufos proved his worth in 22 starts while Marc Gasol (sprained MCL) was injured last year, averaging 8.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 24 minutes per game. A backup role in Memphis doesn't do his fantasy value any favors, but at $3 million he's a solid addition to the Grizzlies' frontcourt.
Jun 29 - 5:25 PM

Kosta Koufos scored eight points on 4-of-5 shooting with five rebounds and one block in 19 minutes off the bench on Friday, but could see more action if Marc Gasol misses time with his sprained ankle.

Koufos started well earlier in the year when Gasol went down but the good times quickly ended and never picked back up. If you're in a 12-14 team league and need a center he could be worth a speculative add, but you're doing it at your own risk and not at the expense of anybody with a pulse.
Mar 22 - 1:15 AM

Kosta Koufos came off the bench for 12 points and 10 rebounds in just 19 minutes on Saturday.

Al Jefferson's not known for his defense and is probably a big reason that Koufos got loose tonight. Despite playing just 19 minutes in each of his last three games, he's scored 12 points in each of them and is averaging 8.0 rebounds, as well. But you have to think the other shoe is about to fall, as it would be very surprising to see him keep this up if he's getting fewer than 20 minutes a night.
Mar 8 - 11:10 PM

With Marc Gasol leaving Wednesday's game early due to a knee injury, Kosta Koufos stepped into a bigger role and had seven points, four rebounds, one steal and one block in 20 minutes.

Fantasy owners should take a wary view of Koufos until the Grizzlies update Gasol's status. He got off to a hot start after Gasol sprained his MCL earlier this season but soon found his role being eroded by Ed Davis and Jon Leuer, so even if Gasol isn't ready to play on Feb. 18 there are no guarantees that Koufos will help owners in 12-team leagues.
Feb 12 - 9:42 PM

Kosta Koufos came off the bench and hit 7-of-8 shots for 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in Saturday's win over the Rockets.

Despite the fact that Marc Gasol has really struggled since returning from his knee injury, Koufos hasn't been doing much, either. Prior to this explosion, he had scored a total of four points with five rebounds and one block in his previous three games. Ignore him.
Jan 25 - 11:22 PM

Kosta Koufos scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, one steal and two blocks in 22 minutes on Friday against the Nuggets.

Koufos has steadily improved since falling off the wagon a few weeks back, and if you're looking for a short-term big man he's worth a look until Marc Gasol returns in the next week or so.
