Jason Thompson grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds against the Rockets on Thursday with 13 points, one assist and one steal.
He's had at least eight boards in his each of his last five, averaging 11.0 points, 10.2 boards, 0.4 steals and 0.2 blocks on 48.6 percent from the field in 33.8 minutes in that stretch. Thompson isn't going to be great in standard leagues because of his lack of defense, but owners in points leagues can give him a look until DeMarcus Cousins comes back. Dec 12 - 1:51 AM

Date:

Jason Thompson just missed a double-double with 10 points, nine rebounds and three assists over 36 minutes in Monday's win over the Jazz.

Thompson did not record a steal or block and he's going to be raw in the fantasy sense even if he gets a boatload of minutes. With DeMarcus Cousins looking at weeks and maybe even months before he returns at full speed, there is a big window to plod his way into standard league value.
Dec 9 - 2:10 AM

Jason Thompson had another fantastic game on Saturday in which he nearly double-doubled with 18 points, nine boards and four assists in 32 minutes.

He has really benefited from the absence of DeMarcus Cousins (illness), so this stat line should be taken with a grain of salt. Thompson was able to shoot 9-of- 12 from the field on Saturday, but we've seen this story with him before as he has always been very inconsistent. With Cousins targeting a return possibly on Monday, Thompson can be ignored in standard leagues.
Dec 7 - 1:10 AM

Jason Thompson just missed a double-double in Friday's overtime win, scoring nine points on 3-of-8 shooting with 10 rebounds, one steal and one block in 38 minutes.

This is a great line by his standards this season and that should tell you all you need to know about his fantasy value. He hit a couple big free throws late and played some solid defense in the win.
Dec 6 - 3:11 AM

Jason Thompson failed to capitalize on DeMarcus Cousins' absence vs. the Grizzlies, posting just two points and two rebounds during Sacramento's home loss.

Thompson has been an abysmal fantasy option despite his starting PF job with the Kings, so tonight's dud isn't surprising. He fouled out in just 20 minutes and was thoroughly outplayed by 34-year-old Reggie Evans, which is all the more reason to avoid him.
Nov 30 - 8:50 PM

Jason Thompson went scoreless in 33 minutes during Tuesday's win vs. the Pelicans, adding seven rebounds, one assist and one block.

Thompson is an afterthought offensively, averaging 4.2 points on 37.1 percent shooting this season, and even when he plays well it rarely shows up in the boxscore. Few players have as poor a minute-to-fantasy-value ratio, and Thompson simply isn't worth a roster spot in fantasy leagues.
Nov 25 - 11:47 PM

Jason Thompson logged just under 18 minutes in Saturday's win in Minnesota, finishing with a quiet four points, three rebounds and one assist.

JT's playing time occasionally slips below 20 minutes, only to rally again into the mid-20s. It's not very relevant for fantasy owners, however, as he's cracked double-digit scoring and rebounding just once all season (in separate games) and is nowhere near reliable value.
Nov 22 - 11:08 PM

Jason Thompson (quad) is being listed as probable for Thursday's game vs. Chicago.

Thompson is averaging just 4.3 points and 6.3 rebounds as a starter for the Kings, and he's faced with a very difficult matchup today against an imposing Chicago frontcourt. So whether he plays tonight should be of little concern to owners in standard leagues. However, if Thompson does sit this one out Carl Landry would be in line for some increased minutes, but given Sacramento's opponent, neither player makes for a very attractive option.
Nov 20 - 4:18 PM

Jason Thompson (quad) had 15 points, nine rebounds and two turnovers in 25 minutes of action on Tuesday.

He jumped out to a quick start and looked unimpeded by his recent quad injury, but as usual his fantasy contributions were restricted to points, FG percentage and rebounds. Fantasy owners in deeper formats would be better off looking for value in backup PF Carl Landry (eight points, nine boards, one steal in 16 minutes).
Nov 19 - 12:39 AM

Jason Thompson (quad) will play in Tuesday's game against the Pelicans.

He is only averaging 3.2 points per game this season so this goes without saying that he shouldn't be considered in standard leagues. Even worse, Thompson will have to deal with Anthony Davis all night which makes him quite unappealing in daily leagues. You can safely ignore him in almost all formats.
Nov 18 - 9:58 PM

Jason Thompson (left quad tendinitis) is being listed as probable for Tuesday's game vs. New Orleans.

Thompson is averaging just 3.2 points and 6.0 rebounds over 25 minutes of action this season, so he's obviously not worth a roster spot in standard leagues. It sounds like he'll suit up on Tuesday, but if he's unable to go, Carl Landry would likely pick up most of his minutes. Reggie Evans could also see some extended run off the bench.
Nov 18 - 5:36 PM

Jason Thompson started at PF on Tuesday but quickly took a backseat to Carl Landry, finishing scoreless with four rebounds and one assist in 13 minutes.

He's averaging 2.8 points on 28.6 percent shooting in the Kings' past five games, and has nearly as many turnovers (10) as combined assists, steals and blocks. Needless to say, he belongs on your waiver wire.
Nov 11 - 11:26 PM

Jason Thompson started at PF again on Sunday but was nearly invisible in 28 minutes, scoring two points with four rebounds and five personal fouls.

Thompson has yet to score double-digit points this year and he rarely gets assists, steals or blocks, making him an undesirable fantasy asset. Moving beyond his fantasy value, he does deserve credit for part of the Kings' impressive rebound rate of 55.9 percent, which leads the league by a wide margin.
Nov 9 - 9:54 PM

Jason Thompson will be the starting power forward to start the year in Sacramento.

The team's power forward situation is dreary and the interesting thing is if this means Ryan Hollins will join an already crowded rotation as the backup center. Of course, Thompson could stagger his minutes and back up DeMarcus Cousins, too. Unless Carl Landry is hurt and we don't know it, the PF position is going to include Landry, Reggie Evans, Eric Moreland and Derrick Williams competing for minutes.
Oct 20 - 7:32 PM

Jason Thompson started at power forward in the preseason opener against the Raptors on Sunday, scoring seven points with seven boards, one assist and five turnovers in 21 minutes.

The Kings had 29 team turnovers and their starting unit needs some work. Thompson might be the favorite to start next to DeMarcus Cousins, but there just isn't enough upside to draft him in most formats.
