Jason Thompson earned his first minutes of the second round during Game 5, coming off the bench for two points and three rebounds in 10 minutes.
Thompson subbed in for Bismack Biyombo as the Raptors' backup center with Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) out of commission. He averaged a mere 15.4 minutes per game with the Raptors this season and isn't a promising DFS option while Biyombo is healthy and productive. May 11 - 10:58 PM

Date:

Jason Thompson is expected to start against the Nets on Wednesday.

He should split the minutes at power forward with Patrick Patterson. Thompson won't be the best fantasy punt tonight with so many options out there.
Apr 13 - 4:42 PM

Jason Thompson will come off the bench on Tuesday vs. the 76ers.

With Luis Scola and Patrick Patterson both active, Thompson may not see the floor tonight.
Apr 12 - 7:34 PM

Jason Thompson will start Friday vs. the Pacers, with Luis Scola (rest) taking the night off.

Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan are also hitting the sidelines for rest purposes Friday night, so Thompson could certainly see some increased opportunity on offense. However, he doesn't always produce when given the minutes, so he's a somewhat risky punt play in DFS.

Jason Thompson will come off the bench on Saturday vs. the Spurs.

This isn't a surprise with Luis Scola (rest) back in the lineup tonight. Thompson will only see limited minutes unless it's a blowout, so he belongs on the wire.
Apr 2 - 8:11 PM

Jason Thompson failed to do much while drawing a spot-start for the resting Luis Scola on Friday, registering just six points, six boards, one block and one turnover in 22 minutes.

Thompson is consistently inconsistent, and tonight's line was just a reminder to not get all that excited when JT earns a start. Patrick Patterson was equally unimpressive, hitting 1-of-9 shots for two points, three boards, two assists, one steal, one block, one turnover and zero triples in 26 minutes off the bench. Neither of these guys are worth owning in standard leagues.
Apr 1 - 11:50 PM

Jason Thompson will start in place of Luis Scola (rest) on Friday vs. the Grizzlies.

Thompson doesn't play much when Scola is active, but he could end up splitting minutes at the four with Patrick Patterson tonight. To be clear, he's not worth picking up in most leagues.
Apr 1 - 7:24 PM

Jason Thompson started Wednesday's game but posted just two points, three rebounds and one block in 15 minutes.

JT got the start in place of Luis Scola (sore left knee) but he fell predictably flat in a tough matchup vs. the Hawks. Scola is day-to-day and Thompson has been quiet in limited action for the Raptors this season, so there's simply no reason to contemplate a pickup.
Mar 30 - 10:18 PM

Jason Thompson will start Wednesday's game in place of Luis Scola (sore left knee).

Patrick Patterson will come off the bench, presumably because Dwane Casey doesn't want to tamper with the second unit. Patterson has a higher fantasy upside than Thompson and is worth considering as a punt play until Scola returns.
Mar 30 - 7:17 PM

Jason Thompson scored five points with five rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks in 24 minutes against the Celtics on Friday.

He could be looking at more minutes with Patrick Patterson (ankle) getting hurt. Thompson's upside isn't great, so he's not a terrific target on a speculative basis. Patterson will be re-evaluated on Saturday.
Mar 18 - 11:46 PM

Jason Thompson played 12 minutes with seven points, four rebounds and one steal against the Bulls on Monday.

If Jonas Valanciunas (hand) needs to miss time, Thompson could be in the rotation. Thompson's lack of upside isn't great enough to add unless you're in a really deep league.
Mar 14 - 11:20 PM

Jason Thompson started for Luis Scola (rest) and had nine points, five rebounds, a steal and two blocks in Tuesday's win over Brooklyn.

Scola should be back for the next one so don't get excited about this performance.
Mar 8 - 10:42 PM

Jason Thompson and Norman Powell will be in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nets.

Thompson will likely be replacing Luis Scola in the starting five tonight, while Powell will sub into the starting five for James Johnson. However, with Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas all active, it's unlikely that Thompson or Powell will be able to bring enough to the stat sheet to make a difference in most leagues.
Mar 8 - 6:43 PM

Jason Thompson made his Toronto debut on Friday, entering the game for one minute without recording any statistics.

Thompson made a brief appearance to close out the first half with Bismack Biyombo in foul trouble, but did not re-enter the game at any point after halftime. He’s just an "insurance policy" for the Raptors, and can safely remain on the waiver wire in all leagues.
Mar 4 - 10:50 PM

Jason Thompson was available to play on Wednesday but he didn't leave Toronto's bench.

Dwane Casey called Thompson an "insurance policy" after the Raptors signed him as a free agent, and he'll be nothing more than a bit player while Luis Scola and Patrick Patterson are healthy.
