Steve Kerr is excited about the addition of Jason Thompson.
"He's a smart player. Think he'll fit in well with our guy sand the way we play," Kerr said. Thompson's up-and-down tenure in Sacramento now over and done with, Thompson has a chance to carve out a role as a backup big for the defending champs. Sep 21 - 11:08 AM

Jason Thompson said it will be "sweeter" to play against the Kings now that he's with the Warriors.

The Kings and Warriors are in the same division, so it's not really all about how his team is more likely to get a win. Thompson went to Rider University in New Jersey and Philadelphia was very close to where he grew up, but he seems really excited about actually making it to the postseason. He's still not worth drafting in most leagues and will compete with James Michael McAdoo and Festus Ezeli for minutes.
Aug 6 - 9:05 PM

Jason Thompson was traded to the Warriors on Friday in exchange for Gerald Wallace.

He will finally get to play on a winning team after playing every game in his career with the Kings. Thompson is likely out of the rotation with the Warriors and will have to beat Marreese Speights and/or Festus Ezeli for playing time.
Jul 31 - 5:28 PM

The Kings are trading Jason Thompson and Carl Landry as part of a salary dump to the 76ers.

So it turns out Sam Hinkie didn't take the day off today. Thompson was the longest tenured King on the roster, but now he may get some playing time with the 76ers. Although, there's a chance the team lets their young guys get minutes. Don't be too aggressive in targeting Thompson right now.
Jul 1 - 11:07 PM

Jason Thompson double-doubled with 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and three blocks in Monday's win over the Lakers.

Thompson is going to get as much run as he can handle on Wednesday against the Lakers and production in this ballpark is to be expected.
Apr 14 - 4:43 AM

Jason Thompson picked up five fouls in only 25 minutes vs. the Nuggets, finishing Sunday's road loss with nine points on 4-of-8 shooting, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and three turnovers.

It's a mild disappointment for owners who plugged Thompson into their lineups, as he was poised for a big game with DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay and Reggie Evans all unavailable. He'll get a delectable matchup vs. the Lakers on Monday, so don't let this dissuade you from plugging him into active lineups.
Apr 12 - 7:35 PM

Jason Thompson logged 36 minutes and put up five points, 14 rebounds, three assists, one steal and three blocks in Friday's loss to the Thunder.

It sounds like we should get some news on DeMarcus Cousins' (foot) outlook on Saturday, but in the meantime while Cousins is out Thompson will be a viable big man for owners to take a look at.
Apr 11 - 3:01 AM

Jason Thompson started and hit 5-of-13 shots for 12 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and a block in 32 minutes on Wednesday.

DeMarcus Cousins is seeing a foot specialist in L.A., so it's possible his season is over. If so, Thompson looks like someone who might be able to help fantasy owners over the last few games of the season.
Apr 9 - 12:02 AM

Jason Thompson came off the bench behind Carl Landry (10 points, 4 rebounds) and hit 7-of-9 shots for 16 points and 10 rebounds in 21 minutes.

He'll split minutes with Landry going forward and both of them played 21 tonight. Thompson is a good rebounder, but usually an offensive liability, so you can flip a coin on which player will be better from night to night. Derrick Williams also played 21 minutes and had 10 points, five boards and a 3-pointer, adding further confusion to the Kings' power forward position right now.
Apr 1 - 11:46 PM

Jason Thompson will come off the Kings' bench on Wednesday with Carl Landry taking over the starting PF job.

George Karl hasn't given a specific reason for the switch. This shouldn't impact fantasy lineups in standard leagues, as Thompson was averaging a mere 5.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in March.
Apr 1 - 7:54 PM

Jason Thompson had three points, four rebounds and no other stats in 13 minutes during his return to Sacramento's bench on Sunday.

Kings coach George Karl prefers to pair Thompson with Ramon Sessions in the second unit, as he's better at running the court than fellow big men Reggie Evans or Carl Landry. Thompson is averaging 7.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in just 19 minutes as a reserve this season, and he's not worth owning in standard leagues no matter where he begins games.
Mar 22 - 8:45 PM

Jason Thompson will return to the Kings bench on Sunday.

DeMarcus Cousins (calf) is healthy and Rudy Gay will start at PF with Omri Casspi at SF, leaving Thompson in a precarious role for fantasy purposes. He's hardly worth owning in deep leagues even when starting, so don't hesitate to cut him loose.
Mar 22 - 4:52 PM

Jason Thompson had 12 points and eight rebounds in 34 minutes in a start on Wednesday.

He scored 18 points on Monday, but wasn't doing much before that. DeMarcus Cousins was out tonight, so it's hard to see Thompson doing this for much longer.
Mar 19 - 1:54 AM

Kings' head coach George Karl said that he likes Jason Thompson coming off the bench.

Karl explained that he feels Thompson is a better fit with Andre Miller in the second unit as opposed to Carl Landry, because Miller likes to run and he feels that's not Landry's forte. However, with averages of just 7.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game as a reserve, Thompson can't be considered a viable option in most leagues.
Mar 17 - 4:51 PM

Jason Thompson will continue to come off the Kings' bench behind Carl Landry, but coach George Karl may start Thompson vs. bigger teams.

The Kings' next two games are against the Hornets and 76ers, so Thompson isn't likely to resurface as a starter any time soon. He was an also-ran fantasy player even when starting, and neither he nor Landry are worth owning outside of very deep leagues.
