Nikola Pekovic (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Nuggets.
Pekovic said he wants to give it a go on Wednesday, so we'll have to await word after shootaround to see if he'll get his wish. If Pek is unable to suit up against the Nuggets, Gorgui Dieng becomes a must-start player in all fantasy leagues. Mar 3 - 1:55 PM

Nikola Pekovic (ankle) will not play against the Clippers on Monday.

His ankle is acting up and the Wolves are likely going to rest him for a while. Gorgui Dieng is back to being a must-start player in all leagues. If you want to cut Pek, it's not a bad idea given how much time he's needed to recover from ankle soreness.
Mar 2 - 6:55 PM

Nikola Pekovic (ankle) and Kevin Martin (illness) are both questionable to play on Monday against the Clippers.

Pekovic did not participate in shootaround, and he'll warmup before the game to see if he can give it a go. It doesn't sound promising even if he plays, so Gorgui Dieng should remain very ready, and he'd be the most obvious candidate to benefit without the big man. As for Martin, his illness is out of nowhere, so if he doesn't play, Andrew Wiggins will be an even greater point of emphasis with Gary Neal possibly joining the starting lineup.

Nikola Pekovic's troublesome ankle flared up on him during Saturday's game vs. the Grizzlies, and he is expected to be reevaluated on Monday.

Not good. Pekovic hasn't exactly been the most durable player in recent years, and it looks like the Wolves were playing with fire when they decided to play him in the second game of a back-to-back set. Pekovic lasted just two minutes in the second half on Saturday, and we would be surprised if he ended up playing against the Clippers on Monday. Gorgui Dieng stands to benefit the most if Pekovic misses time, while rookie Adreian Payne will see a bump in his minutes as well.
Mar 1 - 12:21 AM

Nikola Pekovic played just 12 minutes against the Grizzlies on Saturday with one point, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

He played less than two minutes in the second half. The first thing to come to mind here is that his ankle isn't feeling great on the second half of a back-to-back set. His fantasy owners knew there was a lot of risk and hopefully the Wolves say it was just scheduled rest or because Marc Gasol destroyed him.
Feb 28 - 11:03 PM

Nikola Pekovic scored 16 points on 5-of-16 shooting with 11 rebounds and two blocks in Friday's win over the Suns.

Pekovic had a good night in the box but he met his match in Alex Len, who had his number all night. After some early struggles since returning to action, he's back to producing serviceable numbers.
Feb 21 - 1:57 AM

Nikola Pekovic played 34 minutes against the Warriors on Wednesday with 17 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two blocks during a 94-91 loss.

Coach Flip Saunders has seen his aging players get hurt time after time, but he continues to play them big minutes. It raises the question of whether or not the team is trying to trade him, which makes sense because of how great Gorgui Dieng looked. If you own Pekovic, you should at least try to sell high before he gets hurt again.
Feb 12 - 12:10 AM

Nikola Pekovic will play less minutes on Monday against the Hawks, according to coach Flip Saunders.

He shockingly played 33 minutes on Sunday and it's even a surprise to see him playing at all tonight. Pekovic scored a season-high 29 points on Sunday and is an obvious sell-high player.
Feb 9 - 7:23 PM

Nikola Pekovic is expected to play on Monday against the Hawks.

Coach Flip Saunders had said he might rest Big Pek for one of the two games in the back-to-back set, but after Pekovic exploded for 29 points on Sunday, he's expected to be back in there again on Monday. Gorgui Dieng will continue to come off the bench, but would step into a starter's role if Pekovic misses additional time at any point. Dieng has averaged 10.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.8 blocks in 33 games as the starting center.
Feb 9 - 1:18 PM

Nikola Pekovic blew up for a season-high 29 points vs. Detroit on Sunday, draining 9-of-16 field goals and 11-of-12 free throws with three boards, one assist and two steals.

Owners concerned about Pekovic's health may want to use this as a sell-high moment. His sore ankle is still a background concern and coach Flip Saunders has considered resting Pek for one game during back-to-back sets. With Minnesota out of the playoff picture an early shutdown wouldn't be surprising, but 9-cat owners can at least take solace in his top-100 value over the past two weeks.
Feb 8 - 8:58 PM

Nikola Pekovic is a go for Sunday's game against the Pistons.

Sunday will be the first game of a back-to-back set for the Timberwolves, so there's a decent chance Pekovic gets a rest day for Monday's matchup against the Hawks. Pekovic does have a favorable matchup tonight, so make sure you have him in your lineups.
Feb 8 - 4:57 PM

Nikola Pekovic scored 13 points with three rebounds, one steal and one block on Friday, and could be looking at some prescribed rest during back-to-back games.

Sitting a game during back-to-backs sounds smart because he can hardly stay on the court and is already experiencing pain in his ankles. The defensive stats were nice tonight but he's not rebounding and there's not enough value here to justify the headaches in standard formats.
Feb 7 - 2:33 AM

Nikola Pekovic played 21 minutes against the Heat on Wednesday with 13 points and four rebounds.

There is talk of him not play in both games of a back-to-back set and coach Flip Saunders has said he's worried about Pekovic's ankle. His minutes are likely going to be down just because the team doesn't want him to miss significant time again. He's an end-of-the-bench guy in standard leagues as long as he's not missing games.
Feb 5 - 12:29 AM

Nikola Pekovic admitted his ankle is still sore after games and he will likely have to deal with it the rest of the season.

His owners did not need a crystal ball to see this coming. Pekovic's ankle will eventually require him to miss games, so his fantasy owners can consider him as a perpetual sell-high candidate. Meanwhile, it's only a matter of time before Gorgui Dieng becomes a mid-round asset again. Plus, Dieng getting minutes at power forward helps his value right now.
Feb 4 - 2:10 PM

Nikola Pekovic scored 18 points with seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 31 minutes against the 76ers during a 103-94 loss on Friday.

The old "this was the Sixers" grain of salt comes in play here. Pekovic got off to a fast start and coach Flip Saunders clearly doesn't care about Pek aggravating his ankle injury. There is a lot of risk with him, but he should be owned in standard leagues for now.
