Sonny Weems signed a three-year contract with CSKA Moscow on Sunday.
Weems signed with a team in Lithuania last season, averaging 15.5 points in 30 minutes per game. The Raptors withdrew a $1.1 million qualifying offer for Weems this summer and he obviously had much greater appeal in the EuroLeague. Mon, Jul 30, 2012 04:10:00 AM

The Raptors have withdrawn their qualifying offer for Sonny Weems, making him an unrestricted free agent.

The QO was worth $1.1 million, but it seems the Raptors decided they wouldn't even want him on a one-year deal. A handful of teams have expressed interest in Weems, including the Cavaliers, Celtics, Clippers and Pistons.

The Raptors have extended a qualifying contract offer to G/F Sonny Weems, making him a restricted free agent.

By extending the qualifying offer to Weems, the Raptors will now be able to match any offer on him. Even though Weems played last season in Lithuania, the Celtics, Cavs, Pistons and Clippers all reportedly expressed interest in signing him before the draft, but it remains to be seen which teams are still interested. Weems is still only 25 years old and could provide swing man help to several NBA teams.

Restricted free agent Sonny Weems, who played this season in Lithuania this year, is set to return to the NBA next season.

The Celtics, Cavs, Pistons and Clippers have all reportedly expressed interest in Weems, but it's still incredibly early in the process. He shouldn't have trouble finding a new home in free agency, and it will be interesting to see what type of offer he receives. He'll still be just 26 years old when next season begins.

Sonny Weems, who will play in Lithuania without an 'out clause' this season, said he hopes to return to the NBA next year.

"I will be going back to the NBA unless I get an offer in Europe that I can't refuse," said Weems. He hopes that his experience as a go-to player in Lithuania will help improve his game at the NBA level, where in three years he averaged 7.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Former Raptors swingman Sonny Weems has signed with the Lithuanian team Zalgiris Kaunas, and his contract does not include an opt-out clause.

Weems averaged a career-high 9.2 points per game last season, with 2.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists. As those numbers make obvious, he won't be missed in fantasy leagues.

Updating a previous item, Sonny Weems is on the verge of finalizing his one-year deal with Zalgiris in Lithuania.

Weems will not have an opt-out clause in his contract and will likely test the NBA once again when the lockout ends and his deal in Lithuania is up.

Sonny Weems is reportedly on the verge of signing a one-year contract with a team in Europe.

The Raptors just made Weems a restricted free agent last week he seems to prefer the job security of a deal overseas -- he will not, however, be eligible to opt-out and return to the NBA this season.

The Raptors have officially extended a qualifying contract offer to swingman Sonny Weems.

The move officially makes him a restricted free agent, which gives the team the right to match any contract offer he receives from another club. Weems was briefly serviceable to fantasy owners last season, but a crowded rotation of wing players in Toronto makes it difficult to rely on him if he re-signs with the Raptors.

Sonny Weems is game-time decision for Wednesday's finale against the Heat with his lingering knee injury.

Reggie Evans, Leandro Barbosa, Andrea Bargnani, Jose Calderon and Amir Johnson are all out, meaning good things for Joey Dorsey, Ed Davis, Jerryd Bayless, DeMar DeRozan and James Johnson, among others.

Sonny Weems (knee) will not play in Monday's game against the Bucks.

We doubt Weems will push his knee to play in the season finale, either. James Johnson is headed for 40 minutes once again tomorrow.

Sonny Weems is a late scratch from the Raptor lineup on Sunday due to a sore right knee.

With so many injuries to key players in the Raptor lineup Weems was prime to have a huge fantasy day. This has to be a major disappointment for fantasy owners hoping to hit the jackpot with a lesser figure like Weems.

Sonny Weems got hot off the Raptors bench on Wednesday, hitting 6-of-10 shots and two 3-pointers for 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal as the Raptors lost again.

Weems is worth keeping an eye on, but we wouldn't recommend using him in most leagues as long as he's coming off the Raptors' bench. He likely benefitted tonight because Leandro Barbosa missed another game with a finger injury.

Sonny Weems came off the bench to score 12 points in 16 minutes on 6-of-10 shooting Wednesday.

That's not enough minutes for him to become relevant in fantasy leagues, so continue to ignore him as long as he's not starting.

Sonny Weems scored 14 points off the bench on Tuesday, hitting 6-of-12 shots from the field with two rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes.

He should be far from rosters in standard leagues, but tonight's performance may have earned him a few more minutes, putting him on the radar in deeper formats.
