Date:

Omri Casspi (back) will not play in Monday's preseason game against the Spurs.

As you can see there are a lot of folks taking the night off. Casspi is a pure backup for Sacramento and has no fantasy value.
Oct 20 - 7:37 PM

Omri Casspi added upper body muscle to his frame and dropped his body fat percentage to six percent this summer.

He changed his diet and is eating more vegetables while going gluten-free. Casspi is back with the Kings after three-season hiatus. He'll likely come off the bench and hasn't really been much of a fantasy asset in his five-year career, so he's off the fantasy radar right now.
Sep 27 - 4:50 PM

The Sacramento Kings officially announced the signings of Omri Casspi and Ryan Hollins on Thursday.

The Casspi signing was first reported in late July, while the news about Hollins was first reported on September 17th. Both men are being brought in mostly for their veteran presence and depth, neither will be impact fantasy players next season.
Sep 18 - 4:57 PM

Omri Casspi led the Israeli national team with 16.1 points per game during six preparation games for EuroBasket.

During his five-year NBA career, Casspi has per-36-minute averages of 13.4 points, 1.6 threes, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals. He has never averaged more than 25 minutes per game, however, and his role will be limited as long as he's scrapping for minutes with guys like Jason Thompson, Quincy Acy, Reggie Evans, Travis Outlaw, and Derrick Williams.
Aug 3 - 5:52 PM

Omri Casspi is finalizing a one-year contract with the Kings after clearing waivers on Friday.

The move will reportedly allow the Kings to keep Quincy Acy and that was previously in doubt. Casspi isn't going to move the needle in fantasy or reality, but he will add to the glut of forwards the Kings are swimming in.
Jul 25 - 8:17 PM

Omri Casspi reportedly cleared waivers on Friday, and he is now a free agent.

Casspi is now free to sign with a team of his choosing, but with career averages of 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.9 three-pointers a game, it won't matter where he lands from a fantasy perceptive.
Jul 25 - 5:14 PM

The Pelicans waived G/F Omri Casspi.

The writing has been on the wall for a while here with his contract becoming guaranteed on Aug. 1. Casspi had a solid preseason in Houston last season, but couldn't get his 2013-14 regular season off the ground. He'll get a camp invite somewhere.
Jul 23 - 5:14 PM

Omri Casspi expects the Pelicans to waive him prior to August 1, when his $1.1 million deal would become guaranteed.

Casspi is a career 35.2 percent 3-point shooter and his minimum contract is reasonable, but apparently New Orleans doesn't feel that he'd add much to their roster. "My agent is talking with a number of teams and the Kings are one of them," Casspi said. "Couldn’t they use a stretch forward who can hit a three and loves to run? ... I would love to come back [to Sacramento] and fulfill my path. But now I have to concentrate on the [Israeli] national team."
Jul 23 - 10:13 AM

Omri Casspi was traded to the Pelicans as part of Sunday's three-team trade with the Wizards and Rockets.

Houston dealt Casspi, Omer Asik and $1.5 million in cash to the Pelicans in a deal which expanded to include five players, one draft pick, cash considerations and traded-player exceptions. Casspi averaged 18.1 minutes for Houston last season and may find himself with a bigger role in New Orleans, even if he comes off the bench behind Tyreke Evans at SF (which isn't guaranteed). We'll keep a close eye on his role throughout the preseason.
Jul 13 - 7:01 PM

Omri Casspi will start at small forward in place of Chandler Parsons (wrist, hip) vs. the Pelicans on Saturday.

He played 22 minutes on Friday and will likely get minutes in the 20s again tonight. Casspi has a chance to score in the teens while hitting a couple treys, so he's a decent option for owners looking for something in that neighborhood.
Apr 12 - 7:06 PM

Omri Casspi (illness) won't play against the Jazz on Monday.

He didn't play in three of the last four games, so the team is not going to miss him much. Casspi has very little fantasy value in even an extremely deep league.
Mar 17 - 8:17 PM

Omri Casspi played 15 minutes off the bench on Saturday vs. the Pistons with 16 points, three boards, two assists, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.

He had a very minor elbow injury in this game, but he shot the subsequent free throws and it didn't seem to bother him for much more than one minute. Casspi stepped up tonight with Chandler Parsons sitting out due to an illness and has been helpful for the Rockets when they're short on bodies. Parsons should be ready for Tuesday, so there's no need to add Casspi.
Mar 1 - 11:31 PM

Omri Casspi cooled off after a 20 and 12 night on Wednesday, scoring just five points with two rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench on Friday.

This was to be expected with Terrence Jones coming back and even if Jones hadn't played tonight it would've been tough for Casspi to keep it going. He can stay on the wire in most formats.
Jan 25 - 3:25 AM

Omri Casspi hit 9-of-15 shots and two 3-pointers for 20 points and 12 rebounds in Wednesday's win.

Casspi is not a must-own player and scored a total of six points in three games before breaking loose for 15 and 20 in his last two. The absence of Terrence Jones (thigh) is clearly a factor in his explosion, but Casspi has shown signs of breaking out at times throughout the season. Just keep an eye on him, and look for him to fade again once Jones is back from his injury.
