The Kings officially signed Omri Casspi on Tuesday.
The deal is worth $6 million over two seasons, which is a solid value for the Kings. Casspi fits well in George Karl's system but a lack of playing time ensures that he won't be a reliable fantasy option -- he averaged 21.1 minutes last season and has never been above 25 per game. Jul 14 - 8:42 PM

Omri Casspi and the Kings have agreed upon on a two-year, $6 million deal.

Casspi is reportedly excited to play for coach George Karl and the Kings were "intent" upon retaining him, and his $3 million annual salary is a relative bargain in this summer's free-agent sweepstakes. Casspi should fare well in Karl's system, spending time at both SF and PF, but his game has never translated to fantasy value.

The Kings are reportedly "intent" on re-signing free agent Omri Casspi, who is eager to play for coach George Karl.

Casspi was effusive in his praise for Sacramento back in March, saying, "[Sacramento] embraced me as a young 21-year-old ... It feels like home to me." He's a nice fit in Karl's up-tempo system, though recent developments in California's capital have made it an open question whether Karl will indeed be calling the shots next season.
Jul 1 - 2:18 AM

Omri Casspi (illness) will not play against the Lakers on Wednesday.

The Kings actually have nothing to play/lose for tonight and are locked in as the No. 6 spot in the lottery. With Casspi out, we'll see more Derrick Williams, Ben McLemore and Sauce Castillo. Williams and B-Mac are worth using in all leagues tonight with both possibly positing big usage rates in lots of minutes.
Apr 15 - 3:25 PM

Omri Casspi is struggling with gastroenteritis, and he is considered questionable to play against the Lakers on Wednesday.

Casspi has been phenomenal recently, so this is obviously a huge blow for the Kings. He is averaging 22.0 points, 6.2 boards, 3.8 assists and 2.4 3-pointers over his last five games, so hopefully he is able to go give it a go. If Casspi is unable to play, Derrick Williams, Ben McLemore and Nik Stauskas will have to step up.
Apr 15 - 10:24 AM

Omri Casspi said he wants to return to the Sacramento Kings next season.

The 26-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent when the 2014-15 season and sounds ready to come back to Sacramento. "I love it here," Casspi said. "I want to come back. My agent knows that, I know that, I love it here." Casspi has been on fire as of late and is averaging 22.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.4 three-pointers over his last five games, so he's certainly helping his case for a new contract either in Sacramento or elsewhere.
Apr 14 - 9:26 AM

Omri Casspi lit up the Lakers in the Kings' 102-92 win with 26 points, nine rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes.

Casspi hit 7-of-14 shots from the field including 2-of-5 from deep and 10-of-13 from the foul line, which is notable because the charity stripe has been a problem for him lately. There is a big push locally to promote Casspi and he has emerged as their No. 1 guy -- which doesn't seem like it's changing for the finale against the same Lakers squad in L.A. on Wednesday.
Apr 14 - 4:49 AM

Omri Casspi stayed hot on Sunday with a team-high 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting, one 3-pointer, seven rebounds, seven assists and one steal.

The six-year veteran has now scored double-digit points in seven straight games, and his offensive role is unshakable with Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins both ruled out for Sacramento's final two games. Casspi has a pair of five-dime games in the past week, which is simply a bonus for owners relying on his scoring and 3-point shooting.
Apr 12 - 7:43 PM

Omri Casspi scored 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting (including two threes) with six rebounds and one steal in Friday's loss to the Thunder.

As long as Rudy Gay (concussion) and DeMarcus Cousins (foot) are off the floor, then Casspi is going to be one of their more active players. Even under those prime circumstances he can disappear, but he has a great shot at producing top-100 value or better the rest of the season.
Apr 11 - 3:04 AM

Omri Casspi started again for Rudy Gay (concussion) and hit 5-of-9 shots and three 3-pointers for 16 points, four rebounds and five assists in a loss to the Jazz.

He also had five turnovers, but has been rolling in Gay's absence, averaging 19.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.6 3-pointers on 57 percent shooting. With Gay possibly done for the season, Casspi looks like a must-own player in all formats.
Apr 9 - 12:05 AM

Omri Casspi poured in a career-high 31 points during Tuesday's win over the Wolves, hitting 12-of-20 shots with four 3-pointers, five rebounds, one assist, one steals and zero turnovers.

Nobody told Casspi that the Kings are playing for lottery balls with a 27-50 record, as he paired with Rudy Gay (33 points) to carry their team past the lowly Wolves. The absence of DeMarcus Cousins left a huge void in Sacramento's offense and Casspi stepped up in a big way -- the four 3-pointers were also a season-high, and he's worth picking up for temporary value with Cousins doubtful to play on Wednesday.
Apr 8 - 12:36 AM

Omri Casspi and Reggie Evans will be in the starting lineup vs. the Wolves on Tuesday, joining Ray McCallum, Ben McLemore and Rudy Gay.

Evans is starting at center for the injured DeMarcus Cousins (foot) while Rudy Gay will slide to the four in place of Carl Landry (suspension). The Kings are pretty shorthanded tonight, so Casspi should get plenty of run on the wing. Evans is only worth a look in deeper leagues for owners in need of rebounds.
Apr 7 - 9:13 PM

Omri Casspi started for Rudy Gay (concussion) and hit 8-of-17 shots for 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in 38 minutes of Wednesday's loss to the Rockets.

Casspi was a smart play tonight with Gay out and Casspi playing his former team, and he came through. Gay's likely to miss more time, so feel free to take a short-term flier on Casspi, which could turn into a long-term flier if Gay struggles to get his head right.
Apr 1 - 11:41 PM

Omri Casspi is starting Wednesday's game in place of Rudy Gay (concussion).

Gay is expected to miss at least 4-5 games so Casspi could earn more starts, and he's worth a look for anyone seeking 3-pointers. Derrick Williams and Nik Stauskas may also pick up extra playing time in Gay's absence, which keeps them on the radar in deeper leagues.
Apr 1 - 8:16 PM

Omri Casspi, who scored 14 points on Sunday, managed only five points, five rebounds and one assist during a tense one-point win vs. the Sixers on Tuesday.

He made one 3-pointer and stole the ball once, but shot 2-of-6 from the field and played the fewest minutes (25) of any starter. Casspi's up-and-down play is the most obvious argument against owning him in standard fantasy leagues, despite his recent ascension to the starting lineup.
