Omri Casspi played 22 minutes in his Wolves debut vs. the Spurs on Tuesday, finishing with five points (2-of-2 FGs), one rebound and one triple.
Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau was talking him up before the game and said he likes his floor spacing, so maybe he can earn a larger role going forward. For now, Casspi is just someone to keep an eye on in deeper formats. Mar 22 - 12:44 AM

Date:

Omri Casspi will be available to play Tuesday vs. the Spurs.

"Shooting is critical," Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau said. "We think [Casspi] can open up the floor. He’s shown throughout his career he’s been a really good shooter. We’ve always liked him. So we’ll get a look at him." Casspi is still sporting a small brace on his surgically repaired thumb, and he'll likely be rusty tonight considering he hasn't taken the court in about a month, so this is wait-and-see territory in most leagues.
Mar 21 - 2:32 PM

The Timberwolves have officially signed Omri Casspi.

With Lance Stephenson no longer on the roster and Nemanja Bjelica (foot) done for the year, Casspi should be able to get some playing time in Minnesota. However, this remains a wait-and-see situation just about everywhere.
Mar 20 - 4:40 PM

Omri Casspi is closing on a deal with the Timberwolves, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

He reportedly is ahead of schedule on his thumb injury and he getting close to his original target date. The Wolves are dying for a combo forward like Casspi with Nemanja Bjelica (ankle) out for the season, and they also lost Lance Stephenson. Casspi would likely get minutes, but he's not a great player to add just yet.
Mar 19 - 3:53 PM

ESPN's Marc Stien is reporting that Omri Casspi (thumb) has been cleared to resume basketball activities.

Stein also reports that Casspi is "now evaluating his options and has drawn interest from multiple playoff teams, including the Grizzlies and Clippers." Casspi fractured his right thumb on Feb. 24 and was expected to be sidelined until March 24 at the earliest, so he is clearly ahead of schedule. However, it is unlikely he will be ready to play heavy minutes or make a significant fantasy impact over the final month of the regular season. He can be left on waivers.
Mar 14 - 11:00 AM

Omri Casspi (thumb) is about a week ahead of schedule and multiple teams are in pursuit to sign him.

The Pelicans cut him after his injury because they were so shorthanded at the time, so he's currently an unrestricted free agent. Casspi was originally scheduled to be out until at least Mar. 24, so maybe he can make it back at some point this month.
Mar 10 - 2:31 PM

Omri Casspi (thumb) has reportedly cleared waivers.

Casspi is currently dealing with a fractured right thumb that is expected to keep him on the sidelines for the next 4-6 weeks, so he probably won't be joining another team this season.
Feb 27 - 5:20 PM

The Pelicans will waive injured forward Omri Casspi in order to sign Reggie Williams.

Casspi is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a broken thumb, but this is still a bit surprising. We wouldn't expect another team to sign Casspi while he's on the shelf, so leave him on the wire. Reggie Williams likely won't have much value either and this should give Solomon Hill a slight boost.
Feb 24 - 8:12 PM

The Pelicans announced Omri Casspi was diagnosed with a fractured right thumb and will miss the next 4-6 weeks.

This confirms the reports from Thursday night after Casspi made his Pelicans debut. He was playing very well in this 24 minutes with 12 points, but now the team will have to turn more to Solomon Hill and Dante Cunningham.
Feb 24 - 3:01 PM

Omri Casspi reportedly broke his right thumb in Thursday's loss to the Rockets, according to ESPN's Justin Verrier.

Well his stint in New Orleans didn't last long at all after being traded by the Kings this week. He scored 12 points and played 24 minutes, but he's likely to miss close to the rest of the regular season. And it's not like he should have been owned in many leagues to begin with. His absence will mean even more minutes for starter Solomon Hill and newcomer Hollis Thompson.
Feb 23 - 10:47 PM

Omri Casspi will reportedly be traded to the Pelicans as part of Sunday's deal centered around DeMarcus Cousins.

Casspi, who has been dealing with a calf injury since mid-January, has been targeting a return soon after the All-Star break. Assuming he's healthy, he should vie for minutes with guys like Dante Cunningham, Solomon Hill and Terrence Jones. The Kings' frontcourt minutes will be swallowed up by Cousins and Anthony Davis, so it's hard to trust Casspi or any other forward on the roster.
Feb 20 - 12:04 AM

Omri Casspi (calf) will not play on Tuesday vs. the Lakers or Wednesday vs. the Warriors.

The Kings provided an update on his status on Monday, announcing that he has a right plantaris tendon tear and a right medial gastrocnemius strain. The good news is that he's progressing and we should see him soon after the All-Star break. In Casspi's absence, Ben McLemore, Matt Barnes and Arron Afflalo will continue to get the bulk of the wing minutes.
Feb 13 - 10:57 PM

Omri Cassp (calf) will not play on Sunday vs. the Pelicans.

He's not expected to return before the All-Star break. In his absence, Matt Barnes, Arron Afflalo and Ben McLemore have been soaking up most of the wing minutes. Casspi isn't worth stashing in standard leagues.
Feb 11 - 10:52 PM

Omri Casspi (right plantaris tendon strain) is listed as out in the Kings' game notes for Friday's matchup vs. Atlanta.

Casspi, who has been sidelined since Jan. 13, did say earlier this week that he was feeling much better and "hoping" that he'd be able to play on Friday. Thus, we'll take the game notes designation with a grain of salt and wait for a formal update from either Casspi or the team following Friday morning's shootaround. However, even if he is returning, his fantasy impact will likely be minimal and Casspi can be left on waiver wires.

Feb 10 - 9:19 AM

Omri Casspi (right calf) said that he's feeling much better and he's hoping to play Friday vs. the Hawks.

Things aren't official just yet, but we'll likely get a firm update following Friday morning's shootaround. Casspi has been in-and-out of the rotation this season, and will likely be brought along slowly after missing nearly a month, so there's no reason to pick him up.
