Gerald Henderson said that he would "absolutely" like to return to the Blazers as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Henderson said that at this point in his career, earning significant minutes on a winning team is much more important to him than starting, so it'll be interesting to see if him and the Blazers can work out a deal. However, with Meyers Leonard, Moe Harkless and Allen Crabbe all set to hit the open market this offseason, Henderson probably won't be a major priority for Portland during the early goings of free agency. Date:

Gerald Henderson started the second half on Saturday against the Warriors, finishing with eight points, two assists and one rebound in 23 minutes.

This has a little to do with Moe Harkless (hip) not being 100 percent. Henderson with the other four starters has been a positive combination for the Blazers in this series, which is saying something after they were blown out in the first two. With Harkless expected to play, Henderson is a gamble in DFS.

Gerald Henderson started the second half for Moe Harkless.

Harkless isn't having his best game and the lineup data so far shows Henderson for Harkless was having better success so far in this series. If Hendo can keep it going, he might earn more run in Game 4.
May 7 - 10:06 PM

Gerald Henderson and Anderson Varejao were both ejected in Game 1 on Sunday for double technicals.

It was a minor confrontation that started after Varejao appeared to trip Henderson. It would be a shock if either player is suspended, so expect to see them both in Game 2 on Tuesday. Henderson finished with five points, three assists, three boards, one block and one 3-pointer in 17 minutes.

According to The Oregonian, the Blazers explored potential trades for Gerald Henderson at the deadline.

Hendo will be a free agent this summer, so the Blazers were probably just doing their due diligence. They have to be pretty relieved that they didn't trade him, as Henderson has become a key member of the second unit with averages of 10.3 points, 3.2 boards, 1.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.6 steals after the All-Star break. He will likely see minutes in the lower 20s during the playoffs.
Apr 17 - 9:27 AM

Gerald Henderson scored 17 points off the bench on Saturday vs. the Heat, adding three boards, two assists and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes.

This was his 30th game of the season with double-digit points off the bench, and it's obvious that the Blazers love him. He will be a free agent this summer, but he said that he would "love" to re-sign with Portland. He's a solid bench presence for the Blazers, but he's only a fantasy option in deeper leagues.
Apr 3 - 12:47 AM

Gerald Henderson said he would "love" to re-sign with the Blazers this summer.

"I'd love to come back here," Henderson said. "If they want me back and we can come up with a contract that makes sense, then I'd love to come back here. This has been a great year. I was just telling the guys; this has probably been one of the most fun teams I've been on." Henderson has emerged as a leader off the bench, averaging 11.2 points, 3.6 boards, 1.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 3-pointers over his last five games. To be clear, he's still only an option in deeper leagues.

Apr 2 - 11:48 AM

Gerald Henderson scored 15 points against the Celtics on Thursday with five rebounds, five assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes.

He's actually played well in his last five, averaging 11.2 points, 3.6 boards, 1.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 treys. Henderson is still only worth a look in deeper leagues.
Apr 1 - 2:01 AM

Damian Lillard praised Gerald Henderson's leadership abilities and called him a "soldier."

"He is one of those guys when it really gets tough out there, he’s one of those guys you know you can count on," Lillard said. "When the game gets a little rough, the other team gets going a little bit and you are up against it, some guys get quiet. Some guys shy away from it. But he got louder in the huddle.’’ Henderson stepped up on Friday with 19 points and six boards, but he's only averaging 20.8 minutes per game over his last five which limits his value to deeper leagues.

Terry Stotts said the Blazers "turned the corner when Gerald [Henderson] started feeling good."

Hendo is averaging 11.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.7 3-pointers (1.0 TO) on 51.9 percent shooting over his last six games, and he's established himself as a critical part of Portland's rotation. Despite the solid play, Henderson has more value in reality than he does in fantasy.

Feb 29 - 10:22 AM

Gerald Henderson had another nice game off Portland's bench on Sunday with 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting, four boards, three assists, one steal, one 3-pointer and zero turnovers in 23 minutes.

The Blazers didn't move their veteran backup at the deadline, opting to keep the team chemistry intact -- it's paying off with a string of victories that have Portland vying for the No. 6 seed in the West. Henderson's real-world value eclipses his fantasy appeal, however, as he's just a low-end source of points, 3-pointers and FG percentage, with minimal turnovers.
Feb 28 - 9:15 PM

Gerald Henderson's streak of double-digit scoring games ended on Sunday, as he came off the bench for just four points on 1-of-6 shooting, with four boards, one assist and one steal.

Henderson logged 22 minutes tonight but neither he nor Allen Crabbe (three points on 1-of-6 shooting) had it going. Henderson's recent play notwithstanding, his bench role is too limited for reliable use in 12-team leagues.
Feb 22 - 12:06 AM

Gerald Henderson had another productive outing off the Portland bench on Friday, registering 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting with four rebounds, two assists, two steals, one block and one turnover in 25 minutes.

Henderson has been earning 25.7 minutes a night over the past month to go with averages of 11.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.1 steals and just 0.4 turnovers per game, giving him some late-round appeal in 9-cat leagues. He's worth a look in deep leagues for those seeking some scoring with a trickle of steals, but he's not all that desirable of an asset in standard leagues.
Feb 20 - 2:40 AM

Gerald Henderson had 13 points (3-of-10 FGs, 7-of-10 FTs), four rebounds and one steal in 32 minutes on Wednesday, marking his sixth straight game with double-digit points.

Henderson is healthy and productive, with an expiring $6 million contract, so the veteran may draw some trade interest as the deadline approaches. He doesn't typically contribute much beyond scoring and solid FT percentages, so it's hard to envision Henderson as a fantasy asset no matter where he finishes the season.
Feb 11 - 1:55 AM

Gerald Henderson scored 16 points with three rebounds, one assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 35 minutes against the Grizzlies on Monday.

He played some important minutes as both teams went small. The Blazers are likely going to try and unload Henderson and his expiring contract, especially since guys like Allen Crabbe have stepped. He's only worth a look in deeper leagues.
