Gerald Henderson had a left hip debridement arthroscopy on Tuesday, and the Blazers expect him to be ready for training camp.
The 27-year-old Henderson had surgery on the same hip in 2011, reportedly because of a "congenital defect" in his hip, so this isn't an encouraging start to his Blazers career. He still projects as Portland's starting shooting guard on opening night and is a capable scorer, but contributes limited across-the-board stats and hasn't returned standard-league value since 2012-13. He's not a likely fantasy asset even if he holds off C.J. McCollum for the starting SG job all season. Jul 7 - 8:53 PM

Gerald Henderson will be traded to the Blazers.

He picked up his player option at $6 million for the 2015-16 season and he'll be a free agent next year. Henderson is a strange fit for the Blazers because he doesn't stretch the floor. In fact, one could argue that the biggest beneficiary from this move is C.J. McCollum, who really shined down the stretch. Hendo won't be worth drafting in standard leagues.

Gerald Henderson picked up his player option for the 2015-16 season.

With Lance Stephenson out of the picture, Henderson might be able to match his 28.9 minutes per game from last season. However, the Hornets are almost certainly going to look to add a wing in the draft. Plus, Henderson's lack of production from 3 is a big reason why the Hornets were dead last in 3-point percentage. He won't be a strong fantasy option in standard leagues next season.

Gerald Henderson said he's unsure about whether or not he'll pick up his contract option for next season.

Hendo has a $6 million player option for next season, but he said he hasn't given it much thought just yet. It wouldn't be shocking to see him opt out in search of a multi-year deal, which could lead to his departure in Charlotte.
Apr 20 - 11:22 AM

Gerald Henderson launched a team-high 16 shots on Sunday but he made only six of them to finish with 14 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals in 26 minutes vs. Detroit.

Al Jefferson (knee) was out and Mo Williams was rested, which fed into a horrible offensive game for the Hornets -- they scored 77 points on 34.2 percent shooting, including a 4-of-15 mark from beyond the arc. Henderson may very well be rested or limited in Charlotte's final two games, allowing P.J. Hairston more opportunities, so use him with due caution.
Apr 12 - 6:23 PM

Gerald Henderson scored nine points with three assists and two turnovers in 28 minutes against the Raptors on Wednesday.

Most of his value lies in points, so it's going to be a tough pill to shallow when the scoring isn't there. With Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (ankle) out for the foreseeable future, Henderson should get plenty of minutes on the wing. His owners can expect him to bounce back on Friday against the Hawks.
Apr 8 - 9:45 PM

Gerald Henderson made 11-of-18 field goals in a futile effort on Tuesday, finishing with 29 points, two 3-pointers, three rebounds and one assist before fouling out vs. the Heat.

The six-year veteran has made at least one 3-pointer in seven straight games, and since Mar. 15 he's scoring 15.3 points with 4.9 rebounds per game. He's a late-round value overall, but the Hornets' solid schedule and Al Jefferson's absence combine to make Henderson a solid fantasy option as the Hornets make one last push for the postseason -- they're currently two games out with five games remaining.
Apr 7 - 10:34 PM

Gerald Henderson was extremely efficient during a 115-100 win over the Hawks on Saturday, scoring 20 points on 9-of-10 from the field with five rebounds, four assists and two 3-pointers.

That's good for a 100.0 effective field goal percentage to help him get to his fifth 20-point game this month. In his previous games this month, Henderson averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 boards, 2.9 dimes and 0.8 steals on 46.2 percent from the field. The Hornets are really thin at forward, so expect Hendo to have at least one more 20-point game this week. He's a must-add player in points leagues and a decent add in standard formats.
Mar 28 - 9:51 PM

Gerald Henderson grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds to go with 11 points, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer on Friday against the Wizards.

Henderson is producing at a late-round level and the Hornets have a favorable schedule so he should be owned in most standard formats.
Mar 27 - 11:22 PM

Gerald Henderson hit 10-of-19 shots for 23 points, one rebound, two assists and two steals in Wednesday's loss.

He's scored in double figures in five straight games and his 23 points were the most he's scored since Feb. 5, when he had 27. He's scoring again, but not doing a lot else right now to help his owners on most nights.
Mar 25 - 11:24 PM

Gerald Henderson finished Tuesday's loss in L.A. with 16 points (5-of-13 FGs, 6-of-8 FTs), one rebound, four assists and two steals in 37 minutes.

Monday's dud can be forgiven, as the entire Hornets team was limited in a blowout, and Henderson continues to log solid minutes despite the return of Kemba Walker. His usage rate may take a hit in the long run but he's been good enough to deserve some leeway from owners in 12-team leagues.
Mar 18 - 1:20 AM

Gerald Henderson had 17 points, six rebounds and 11 assists in Wednesday's loss to the Kings.

Henderson has managed to stay relevant throughout the season and is averaging 13.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists on 49 percent shooting over his last five games. In short, he's worth owning in most leagues.
Mar 11 - 10:52 PM

Gerald Henderson played 25 minutes against the Wizards on Monday with four points, three rebounds and two turnovers.

It was one of his worst games of the season. Henderson scored 16.4 points per game in his previous five March games, adding averages of 3.8 boards, 3.6 dimes, 1.2 steals and 1.4 treys, so this was a bit unexpected. The steals and treys are a bit of a fluke and his numbers are likely headed south as soon as Kemba Walker returns, so his owners might want to plan for making a swap soon.
Mar 9 - 9:43 PM

Gerald Henderson handed out a career-high nine assists to go along with 13 points, six rebounds and one block vs. the Pistons on Sunday.

A hamstring injury slowed Henderson early in the season but he's been excellent over Charlotte's past dozen games, averaging 13.7 points, 1.1 threes, 4.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals. Even his poor 41.3 percent FGs are balanced out by excellent 87.6 percent FTs on 3.6 attempts per game, and he projects as a reliable fantasy option with Charlotte fighting for playoff position down the stretch.
Mar 8 - 8:56 PM

Gerald Henderson had 19 points, two rebounds, two assists, a steal and a 3-pointer on 7-of-11 shooting on Wednesday.

The Hornets have quietly won three straight games and are currently in the playoffs, if the season ended today. Hendo has scored in double figures in five straight games and is averaging 16.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.4 3-pointers over his last five.
