Gerald Henderson's strained right hamstring will prevent him from playing in Charlotte's preseason finale on Thursday.
He has yet to resume full-contact practices and had a setback earlier in the week, so there are no guarantees that he'll be ready for opening night. He barely helped fantasy owners last season despite averaging 32 minutes per game as a starter, so there's no reason to touch him while he's coming off the bench. Oct 22 - 1:26 PM

Gerald Henderson (hamstring) did some running and shooting on Monday and is targeting the Hornets' final exhibition game for his return.

Henderson's return is bad news for Gary Neal after his big night and in general it will tighten up the wing rotation. Henderson had a hard time holding 14-team value last year and this year he has much more competition for minutes and touches.

Gerald Henderson (hamstring) will not play Monday vs. the Hawks.

Henderson is likely to see his 32 minutes per game average reduced this season with Lance Stephenson in town, and that will cause all of his numbers to take a substantial hit. Hendo didn't really offer much to fantasy squads aside from scoring, and with a much-diminished role in Charlotte, he's not going to be worth drafting in standard leagues.

Gerald Henderson (strained hamstring) will not play in Sunday's game vs. the Bulls.

He recently had a setback and it doesn't sound like he's been able to play full-contact 5-on-5, so it makes sense for Charlotte to keep him out as a precaution. He's not an appealing fantasy option now that he's fallen behind Lance Stephenson and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist on the depth chart.

Gerald Henderson (hamstring) had a setback and might not play on Friday.

He was doing some on-court work on Wednesday, but that may have been what triggered the setback. Henderson is losing ground for minutes on the wing and the arrival of Lance Stephenson will really cap his upside. Fantasy owners can look elsewhere in even deeper leagues.
Oct 16 - 1:11 PM

Gerald Henderson is expected to miss 1-2 weeks with a strained right hamstring.

His prognosis was confirmed by an MRI on Tuesday, and the only good news is that it's not a more serious tear. Henderson will likely find himself coming off the bench this season, behind Lance Stephenson and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and the eventual return of Jeff Taylor could further complicate his role. For now we're considering Henderson probable to play in the Hornets' season opener.

Gerald Henderson is going to compete for the starting small forward spot with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

Hendo was probably way out in front heading into the offseason, but MKG has shown up in great shape and he's impressed coach Steve Clifford with his improved jump-shot mechanics. Regardless, it's not worth drafting either guy in most formats right now.
Sep 29 - 7:34 PM

Coach Steve Clifford said Gerald Henderson can play both wing spots with the Hornets this season.

"Some shooting guards can play small forward, but only in certain matchups," Clifford said. "He can play [either position] against almost anybody." Henderson hasn't been a per-minute stat guy, so he's going to have a tough time being a consistent asset in most fantasy leagues.

Gerald Henderson admitted that he had an "up-and-down" 2013-14 season, but he's ready to compete for playing time in the Hornets' crowded wing rotation.

The five-year veteran started all 77 games in which he played last year, but shot only 43.3 percent from the field. Lance Stephenson is a lock to start at SG which leaves Henderson battling Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeff Taylor for the SF job, where he has played one-fifth of his minutes throughout his career. The additional presence of Gary Neal and rookie P.J. Hairston makes it questionable whether Henderson can match last year's 32.0 minutes per game, something fantasy owners should keep in mind on draft day.

The Hornets reportedly offered Gerald Henderson and the 24th pick to get Arron Afflalo, according to ESPN.com.

He still has two years and $12 million left on his deal, so it's not just about talent. The Hornets are looking to make some room for offseason moves, but they do want to get some improved 3-point shooting. Henderson could wind up being dealt tonight.

Gerald Henderson underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist to remove scar tissue.

His wrist will be in a cast for about two weeks before he will begin the rehab process. This sounds like a minor surgery and it should not affect his status for the 2014-15 season. The Hornets could look to draft a shooting guard with their ninth pick, which may affect Henderson's playing time a bit. His numbers fell off a bit and he only returned 13th-round value in his 77 games last season.

Gerald Henderson scored 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting with four rebounds, three assists and a block on Friday.

Henderson slowed down in his last game but this works just fine for owners and the Bobcats are looking at a four-game week in the next scoring period. He should be in most lineups.
Mar 28 - 9:56 PM

Gerald Henderson was cooking against the Blazers on Saturday with 23 points, eight boards, five assists, one stew, one block and two 3-pointers.

He shot 8-of-11 from the field and hit all five free throw attempts to make this an eight-cat line. It's probably his best game of the season and tonight was also the third time in franchise history Henderson, Kemba Walker and Al Jefferson each topped 20 points in a game. His 3-point shot is dropping with multiple makes in four of his last five, averaging 15.2 points, 5.2 boards, 3.2 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.6 blocks and 1.8 triples. He's worth a look while he's hot.
Mar 22 - 9:39 PM

Gerald Henderson hit 6-of-13 shots and another 3-pointer for 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal in Wednesday's loss.

Henderson has now hit seven 3-pointers over his last four games after totaling just 22 of then on the entire season prior to his four-game run. And if he's going to keep knocking them down, he looks like a nice add in most leagues. He's averaging 13.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 3-pointers over his last five games on 54 percent shooting.
Mar 19 - 11:57 PM

Gerald Henderson scored 16 points in 29 minutes against the Hawks on Monday with three boards, one assist and two 3-pointers.

He had one of the more embarrassing plays of the season as he was rejected by the rim. Henderson continues to shoot treys and he's had the best stretch of his career from downtown with two in each of his last three. It would be nice to know this would continue, but he's still not taking enough attempts to suggest he'll keep it up.
