Trail Blazers GM Neil Olshey says he's finished his evaluation of point guard Eric Maynor but wouldn't commit to keeping him after this season.
Maynor, who will be a restricted free agent this summer, came to Portland in a mid-season trade and has done a solid job as Damon Lillard's backup. Olshey says he's happy with what he's seen but noted that "certain variables" will affect Maynor's standing with the team in the offseason. If he remains in Portland, Maynor won't offer a ton of fantasy value barring injury, but he could be worth something if he landed with a team that gave him significant playing time. Apr 4 - 4:38 PM

Date:

Eric Maynor scored four points on 1-of-4 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, four assists and one block in 17 minutes off the bench on Monday.

If you took the gamble on Maynor in the Blazers' five-game week, you're going to have to eke it out like this and if all goes well you'll get a mild surge at some point.
Mar 18 - 9:36 PM

Eric Maynor hit 3-of-8 shots and zero 3-pointers for eight points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 26 minutes of Tuesday's loss.

Maynor had been feeling it, but he scored just seven points on Sunday before tonight's disappointing line. The minutes are there, but owners should limit expectations as long as he's coming off the bench, which should be for the rest of the season.
Mar 13 - 1:02 AM

Eric Maynor scored 20 points off the bench on Friday, hitting 8-of-11 shots (including two threes) with six assists and two steals in 23 minutes.

Maynor has made some mild noise lately and plays behind stalwarts Damian Lillard and Wesley Matthews, but the Blazers have nobody at all behind their starting five and it would make sense that somebody steps up with some level of productivity. The Blazers also have a five-game week not next week but the week after that, and that makes Maynor worth a look in many formats.
Mar 9 - 2:52 AM

Eric Maynor scored 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting (no threes) with two rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Bobcats.

Maynor had a career-high 12 assists on Saturday and if he can play even average basketball for his skill-set he should get consistent minutes like this on most nights. With the wing corps banged up, too, it's not a stretch to see him taking a larger role if those guys get hurt. Add it all up and there's not enough meat to the bone in standard leagues, but in a deeper format he'll be worth a look.
Mar 5 - 12:41 AM

Terry Stotts said that he felt the Blazers "ran better" when Eric Maynor played alongside Damian Lillard on Saturday.

Maynor had a career-high 12 assists in 31 minutes on Saturday, including 24 alongside Lillard, though as we noted the Blazers were playing a Raptors team that lends itself to smaller lineups. Portland's backup PG should only be a consideration in deep leagues.
Mar 3 - 11:01 AM

The Blazers' bench came up huge on Saturday, led by Eric Maynor's seven points and career-high 12 assists.

Maynor played 31 minutes, nearly 24 of which came alongside Damian Lillard (24 points, six rebounds, four assists). Portland has been seeking a spark off the bench all season, and tonight they also got strong games from Victor Claver (10 points in 14 minutes) and Meyers Leonard (12 points, eight rebounds in 21 minutes). Maynor had a grand total of two points in his previous two games, and he's only worth a look for deep-league owners craving assists.
Mar 3 - 12:32 AM

In his season debut for the Trail Blazers, Eric Maynor had two points, one rebound and three assists in 15 minutes vs. the Celtics.

Ronnie Price and Nolan Smith have been underwhelming in the backup PG role this season, and Maynor is a nice upgrade for Portland even though he fell out of favor in OKC. "It seems like he has a high basketball IQ," Terry Stotts said. "I think he'll have a quick learning curve." Deep league owners may perk up their ears at Maynor's new role in Portland, but he's not an asset in standard leagues.
Feb 25 - 12:25 AM

Eric Maynor will be the backup point guard against the Celtics on Sunday.

He's played just 40 minutes in the past 40 days, so the Blazers aren't likely to give him too much leash in his debut. It remains to be seen whether Maynor can return to his pre-ACL tear form, but he's shown that he was once capable of being a backup in the NBA. There's still no reason to pick him up with Damian Lillard leading all point guards in minutes per game this year.
Feb 23 - 4:50 PM

Eric Maynor will not be available for Friday's game against the Lakers.

He was viewed as one of the better backup point guards in the league before tearing his ACL in January 2012, but he was never really able to get it going since the major injury. Maynor has a career 2.9 assist-to-turnover ratio and shoots 35 percent from 3-point land, so he could be an interesting backup and may be paired with Damian Lillard in a two-point backcourt on occasion. Obviously, Lillard leads all point guards in minutes with 38.5 per game and Maynor has absolutely no impact on this year's heavy favorite for Rookie of the Year.
Feb 21 - 7:19 PM

Blazers acquired PG Eric Maynor from the Thunder via trade.

Maynor was the No. 3 point guard in Oklahoma City behind Russell Westbrook and Reggie Jackson. In Portland, he'll slide in as Damian Lillard's direct backup. But considering Lillard averages 38.5 minutes a night, there won't be a ton of opportunity. The Blazers gave up a draft pick in the deal.
Feb 21 - 2:53 PM

The Thunder are seeking a first-round pick for Eric Maynor, according to Sam Amick of USA Today.

Good luck with that. Maynor has fallen to third on the point guard depth chart and hasn't played in any of the last three games. He'll be hitting free agency at the end of the season, so the Thunder may not find a taker at their asking price.
Feb 21 - 10:06 AM

The Thunder have received "numerous inquiries" about Eric Maynor, according to Yahoo!'s Marc Spears.

The same report suggests that OKC "is inclined to keep Maynor but is open-minded." Maynor has fallen behind Reggie Jackson in the rotation, which gives this rumor some extra plausibility, but it would take an ideal situation for Maynor to make any noise in fantasy leagues.
Feb 10 - 9:34 AM

Eric Maynor is not interested in taking a D-League assignment after losing the backup PG spot to Reggie Jackson.

"No," said Maynor, who repeated his answer twice more. Maynor's future with OKC is very much in doubt with his free agency looming at season's end, and he could be on the move before the trade deadline if the Thunder can find the right deal.

Jan 11 - 8:39 AM

The Sixers "explored a trade" for Eric Maynor, a source tells the Philadelphia Inquirer.

However, the talks didn't get very far and it doesn't sound as if there is a deal to be done at this juncture. The two sides could revisit talks down the road, but for now, it appears Maynor will stay put. He's a candidate to be dealt as he's in the final season of his contract and it would be a surprise to see OKC re-sign him.
