Patty Mills is happy about his growing role with the Spurs.
"The role I have now with the Spurs has grown and not just by my teammates but the whole organization and I'm realizing it now where I don't think I did before," Mills said. With Tony Parker no longer capable of playing the role he once did and Cory Joseph having departed to the Raptors in free agency, Mills' importance will grow to the Spurs and fantasy owners for the 2015-16 season. Patty Mills will play for Australia in the Oceania Championship series with New Zealand.

The injury to Dante Exum (knee) made the move happen. "My shoulder injury last year meant that I had to continue intensive rehab and quality training over the past few months," Mills said. "I’ve done that and will be ready for the Oceania Championships." He could be in line for more minutes next season with the Spurs somewhat thin in their backcourt.
Aug 10 - 8:38 PM

Patty Mills came to life late in Wednesday's overtime win over the Clippers with 18 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers in 19 minutes.

He swished two clutch free throws with eight seconds left to get this game to OT. Tony Parker is dealing with a litany of injuries, including some Achilles tightness from tonight. If Parker is out, Mills may start because of the Spurs having a tighter playoff rotation. Even if he doesn't, he'll have much more fantasy value than Cory Joseph.
Apr 23 - 2:01 AM

Patty Mills hit all four of his shots on Friday, including three 3-pointers, and finished with 14 points, one rebound, two assists and one steal in 11 minutes off the bench.

This is the first time we've blurbed Mills since January 17 and the Spurs most certainly lament that fact. They've been trying to get him going for some time and it's possible this encourages them to give him more minutes, but that's as far as we can go when talking about any potential value.
Apr 11 - 1:33 AM

Patty Mills scored 18 points with four rebounds and three 3-pointers in 22 minutes against the Blazers on Friday.

He provides a huge spark off the bench and was a potent stat guy in his playing time last season. The Spurs kicking Cory Joseph out of the rotation speaks volumes about their confidence in Joseph, so he's worth a look in standard leagues.
Jan 17 - 12:55 AM

Patty Mills shot 4-of-6 from downtown to finish Tuesday's loss in Washington D.C. with 12 points, two rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes.

Fellow backup guard Cory Joseph pitched in six points and five assists in 24 minutes. Mills has averaged 2.0 triples over the Spurs' past five games, but he's not offering fantasy owners much beyond points and 3s. He's earned extra playing time lately due to absent teammates (tonight it was Marco Belinelli), but Mills' value will be hard to sustain if the Spurs' backcourt every stays healthy.
Jan 13 - 9:42 PM

Patty Mills stepped up with 19 points against the Wolves on Saturday with two rebounds, three assists, one steal and two 3-pointers.

He's going to be asked to score more with Manu Ginobili (back) out, which is promising for one of the leaders in usage rate among bench guys last season. Mills should be able to flirt with mid-round value sans Manu, so give him a look.
Jan 11 - 1:54 AM

Patty Mills is starting to feel more comfortable after returning from his offseason shoulder surgery.

"I think he feels more comfortable each game," Gregg Popovich said. "It just takes time. His shot is looking better, he’s starting to figure out where to be on the court." Mills will continue to serve as a spark plug off the bench, and his return is welcomed with Tony Parker (hamstring) and Kawhi Leonard (hand) still dealing with injuries.
Jan 5 - 10:30 AM

Patty Mills scored 15 points in 15 minutes against the Wizards on Saturday with two rebounds, one assist and three 3-pointers.

He is routinely among the league leaders for usage rate off the bench. Mills should still get his playing time in the low 20s even when Tony Parker (hamstring) returns, so he's worth a look in deeper leagues.
Jan 4 - 1:11 AM

Patty Mills played 29 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, finishing with seven points, two rebounds, three assists, a steal and a 3-pointer on 3-of-9 shooting.

His line wasn't great, but the minutes mean it's time to put him on your radar. If he keeps playing heavy minutes, Cory Joseph's value will take a hit, although both players will fade once Tony Parker is over his hamstring injury.

Patty Mills (shoulder) made his season debut on Sunday, finishing with eight points in 20 minutes off the Spurs' bench, to go along with four rebounds, one assist and one block.

Mills returned at the perfect time with Tony Parker (hamstring) potentially out for an extended period, and even forced a crucial turnover with 25 seconds left in a one-possession game. Gregg Popovich should slowly ramp up Mills' minutes in the coming weeks, but his fantasy value is dampened by the presence of Cory Joseph, Tony Parker (hamstring), Manu Ginobili and Danny Green.

Updating a previous report, Patty Mills (shoulder) will suit up for Sunday's game vs. Houston.

Mills will likely be eased back into the rotation, so he's not going to have much value tonight in an unfavorable matchup with the Rockets. However, if he can get up to full speed before Tony Parker returns from his hamstring injury he could provide some short-term value in deeper leagues.

Patty Mills (shoulder) will not play on Sunday vs. Houston.

He is said to be targeting a return in late December, so his next chance to suit up would be on Tuesday vs. Memphis. Mills could have some short-term value in deeper leagues with Tony Parker (hamstring) sidelined, but he will likely be eased into the rotation upon his return. Keep a close eye on him moving forward.
Sat, Dec 27, 2014 09:26:00 PM

Patty Mills (shoulder) is hopeful he'll be able to return to the lineup for one of the Spurs' four remaining December games.

While Mills is optimistic, head coach Gregg Popovich will need some convincing before he allows him to step into any game-time action. "I’m going to hold him off as long as I can," Popovich said. "There will be a point he won’t allow me to do that any more and that’s fine. But for right now I’m winning the battle." Mills will likely be brought along slowly, and as long as Tony Parker is healthy, Mills can remain on the waiver wire in standard leagues.

Patty Mills (shoulder) has been cleared to resume basketball activities, but still isn't close to playing in a game.

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said Mills was cleared to practice two days ago, but Mills isn't expected to see game action until mid-January, at the earliest. He'll only be worth a look by owners in deeper leagues, at least as long as Tony Parker is somewhat healthy.
