Patty Mills scored two points with three rebounds, two assists, two steals and one turnover in 24 minutes against the Pelicans on Wednesday.
With Tony Parker (quad) getting closer to a return, Mills could move back into his normal bench role. He's been fairly decent in that role and the Spurs certainly won't be unleashing Parker, but Mills will likely take a smaller hit to his playing time. If you've been riding him at the end of your bench, you may want to get ready to look to someone else. Nov 23 - 12:18 AM

Patty Mills hit 3-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for eight points, eight rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks in 33 minutes of Monday's win.

Mills is averaging 10.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.2 3-pointers on 40 percent shooting over his last five. If you need a point guard and the hot free agents are gone, Mills is getting enough run right now to help your team.
Nov 21 - 12:34 AM

Patty Mills scored 13 points with one rebound, five assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes against the Wolves during a 98-86 loss on Wednesday.

The Spurs haven't had much success on back-to-back sets. They've had four of them and went just 3-5 in those eight games. As for Mills, this is his eighth straight start and he's consistently been around 28 minutes most of his November games. Mills hasn't really done much to be held in standard leagues unless you're just looking for a low-upside guy to give you 12 points with little else.
Nov 16 - 12:39 AM

Patty Mills started at point guard and hit 7-of-13 shots and four 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 19 points, three rebounds, two assists, four steals and a block in 30 minutes in Tuesday's win over the Mavericks.

Mills has started all seven Spurs games in November, taking over for the struggling Dejounte Murray, but has been very hit-or-miss since then. He had just five points, six assists and a steal on 2-of-6 shooting in 20 minutes on Saturday, so don't kick yourself if you weren't on him tonight. He is averaging 11.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.4 3-pointers on 43 percent shooting over his last five games, so if you want to roll with him until Tony Parker (quad) comes back, go for it.
Nov 14 - 11:44 PM

Patty Mills had six assists, four rebounds and two steals on Tuesday, but he went cold from the field with just two points on 1-of-6 shooting.

Mills didn't attempt any free throws in 29 minutes tonight, and he missed all of his 3-point attempts. Dejounte Murray wasn't much better with six points (0-of-2 FGs, 6-of-8 FTs), and both players have a looming threat from Tony Parker (quad), who was recently recalled from a G-League rehab assignment. Mills is only worth holding for short-term value, or if you need a 3-point specialist in deep leagues.
Nov 7 - 11:42 PM

Patty Mills made his second straight start at point guard on Friday vs. Charlotte, scoring a season-high 17 points in 28 minutes.

This was just his third game with double-digit points this season, and it's possible coach Gregg Popovich moved him into the first unit to get him going. He hit 5-of-12 shots with four assists, two rebounds and four 3-pointers, but it's tough to call him a pickup because his rest-of-season outlook isn't great with Tony Parker's (quad) return looming and the fact that Dejounte Murray needs minutes as well.
Nov 3 - 11:59 PM

Patty Mills will start at point guard against the Hornets on Friday.

He played 28 minutes on Thursday and he likely would've been at 30 had the game been closer. Dejounte Murray will back him up and those two should split minutes for the most part. Plus, Bryn Forbes should now be in the rotation with Manu Ginobili back. Mills is very cheap in DFS and is a solid punt.
Nov 3 - 6:56 PM

Patty Mills made his first start of the season against the Warriors on Thursday, scoring six points with one rebound, three assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes.

The move was likely about the matchup, but Mills didn't play in the final seven minutes because of garbage time. He made eight starts last season and played 7.2 more minutes per game compared to coming off the bench with more scoring and assists. He hasn't been worth owning to this point and the move to the starting lineup doesn't really move the fantasy needle on him unless he was already on your radar.
Nov 2 - 10:50 PM

Patty Mills is starting over Dejounte Murray against the Warriors on Thursday.

Murray was even announced in the starting lineup, so this move is a big surprise. Murray is sitting on the bench next to the coaches, so presumably he's available and will just do more work with the second unit.
Nov 2 - 8:16 PM

Patty Mills posted two points with three assists, two rebounds and three turnovers with four personal fouls in 22 minutes Saturday.

Mills will see a decent amount of minutes behind Dejounte Murray until Tony Parker (quadriceps) is healthy enough to return sometime in December. He'll heat up eventually, especially from long distance. He remains a cheap PG option in deeper leagues, helping out in assists and 3-pointers.
Oct 21 - 11:43 PM

Patty Mills started at PG on Friday and had nine points, two assists, one rebound, one 3-pointer and three turnovers in 22 minutes during a win vs. the Rockets.

Dejounte Murray was out tonight with a minor hip injury, and Tony Parker (quad) is out until at least December, so Mills should begin the season with an expanded role. It seems likely that he'll be leading the second unit, with Murray starting at PG on opening night, but that's not set in stone. Mills is a decent target if you need a cheap PG in deeper leagues, but don't expect too much -- last year's 3.5 assists per game were a career high.
Oct 13 - 10:55 PM

Patty Mills will be rested for Sunday's preseason matchup with the Nuggets.

With Tony Parker (leg) slated to begin the first couple months of the 2017-18 season on the sidelines, Mills could open the year as San Antonio's starting point guard, so expect them to take it very easy on him during the preseason. Mills could be someone to think about towards the later rounds on draft day for those seeking some 3-point shooting.
Oct 8 - 2:48 PM

Patty Mills officially re-signed with the Spurs.

In case you missed it, Mills will be under contract for $50 million over the next four seasons. Tony Parker (leg) likely won't make it back to the court until January at the earliest, and while coach Gregg Popovich prefers to keep Mills in the second unit, he's still looking at minutes in the mid-to-high 20s right out of the gate. He averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 assists, 1.8 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 1.8 3-pointers last season, so he's more a late-round option.
Aug 6 - 11:37 AM

Patty Mills has agreed to a four-year, $50 million deal to stay with San Antonio.

With Tony Parker (leg) banged up and unlikely to start the season, brining Mills back was an important part of San Antonio's plan. It's also a solid value for a guy who has proven he can play both on and off the ball. This does also make it less likely they can go after another point guard, which may also show their confidence in Dejounte Murray. Coach Gregg Popovich really likes Mills off the bench, so expect Mills to be looking at minutes in the mid 20s again next year.
Jul 1 - 12:03 AM

Patty Mills scored 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting in Monday's Game 4 loss, adding four rebounds, three assists, one block and three triples in 30 minutes.

He's going to be kicking himself all summer because he was very disappointing in this series, but Mills did have a solid 2016-17 campaign with regular-season averages of 9.5 points, 3.5 assists, 1.8 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 1.8 3-pointers on 44.0 percent shooting in 21.9 minutes per game. The PG will hit free agency this summer and turns 29 in July, so he can expect a massive raise after playing for just $3.5 million this season. Dejounte Murray is probably ready to take on more responsibility in San Antonio, so it's not a lock that Mills will be back with the Spurs.
