Patty Mills looked good as a fill-in starter on Wednesday, scoring 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting with three 3-pointers, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one turnover in 16 minutes.
Tony Parker was resting and Mills' efficient line is worth remembering -- he projects as the default starting PG if Parker gets injured, and should average more than last year's 20.5 minutes even while Parker is healthy. That said, he's little more than a 3-point specialist. Oct 12 - 9:43 PM

Patty Mills' 30 points weren't enough on Sunday, as Australia fell to Spain 89-88 in the Bronze medal game.

Mills had a fantastic tournament and nearly helped the Aussies claim their first Olympic medal. Mills added a couple assists, one rebound, three steals and three treys while shooting 11-of-23 from the field in 37 minutes. Tony Parker is another year older and Mills is entering a contract year, so it's possible his role could grow in San Antonio this season. Matthew Dellavedova added six points and eight assists in 24 minutes.

Patty Mills cooled off in disappointing loss to Serbia on Friday, missing eight of his nine attempts from behind the arc.

Mills came into the game averaging 21.1 points per game over five previous Olympic contests in Rio. However, he couldn't locate his shot tonight. Mills scored a total of 13 points, but missed 10-of-16 FG attempts including the aforementioned 1-of-9 mark from three-point territory.
Aug 19 - 8:21 PM

Patty Mills scored 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting during Team Australia's 90-64 beatdown over Team Lithuania on Wednesday, adding five 3-pointers, one rebound and one turnover in 27 minutes.

The Boomers caught fire from beyond the arc, with Matthew Dellavedova also burying four of his seven 3-point attempts and finishing the game with 15 points, three assists, one rebound, one steal and one turnover in just 19 minutes of action. Australia will now advance to the semis for the first time since 2000, and if they can pull out a win over Croatia/Serbia, that will put them in the Finals.

Patty Mills (rest) will not play Sunday vs. Venezuela.

Team Australia should be able to pull out a win over Venezuela without Mills' services, but win or lose, they've already earned a guaranteed spot in the next stage of the Olympic tournament. Matthew Dellavedova will be earning the start in Mills place, and he'll likely be playing as close to 40 minutes as possible.
Aug 14 - 6:31 PM

Patty Mills erupted for 30 points on 11-of-22 shooting on Wednesday, including a 5-of-11 mark from downtown, adding two rebounds in 34 minutes of action.

Mills' efforts weren't enough for Australia to win the game, but they certainly gave Team USA a scare in the preliminary round. Former NBA big man David Andersen gave Australia a lift off the bench with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, and fellow reserve Cameron Bairstow added six points and five boards in just 14 minutes.
Aug 10 - 8:13 PM

Patty Mills scored a game-high 26 points during a 95-80 win over Serbia on Monday, adding two rebounds, two 3-pointers and four turnovers.

He is scoring a ton with a 21-point game coming on Saturday. Mills has been fearless as a shooter in Brazil with a lot of drives to the basket to go with the open shots. He will be coming off the bench for the Spurs next year and should be close to his 20.5 minutes per game from last season.
Aug 8 - 3:36 PM

Patty Mills scored 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting as Australia beat France 87-66 on Saturday.

Mills added five assists and a couple of steals without turning the ball over a single time in his 28 minutes of action. It's conceivable Mills could see a slight increase in his role with an aging but still productive Tony Parker ahead of him, but the backup point guard should offer the most value in daily formats when TP is on the Gregg Popovich rest routine.
Aug 6 - 3:03 PM

Patty Mills scored a game-high 16 points off the bench in Tuesday's blowout win over the Grizzlies, shooting 5-of-8 from the field with two assists and four 3-pointers.

The Spurs have been taking care of business early in this series, but Mills has still only played 19 minutes in each contest and the Spurs used all 13 of their active players tonight. That being said, he did score 15 points with three treys in Game 1, so he's at least worth deploying while he's hot. Tony Parker added six points, four assists, one board and one steal in 23 minutes.
Apr 20 - 12:17 AM

Patty Mills scored 17 points off the bench on Monday against the Grizzlies with one rebound, four assists and three 3-pointers in 22 minutes.

He didn't play against the Grizzlies on Friday and got it going against them tonight. Mills should have a few more good games in him the rest of the way, but the schedule is against him in the short term with only two more games this week -- both at home hurts the chance for rest, too. He's still a hold.
Mar 29 - 12:31 AM

Patty Mills started at point guard on Saturday vs. the Thunder and scored 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting, adding two boards and two triples.

He didn't have a single assist, but he only turned the ball over once and saw a team-high 31 minutes. This wasn't a great performance by Mills, but he should get another chance to redeem himself because Tony Parker (rest) will not play on Monday vs. the Grizzlies. If you need 3-pointers, give Mills a look.
Mar 26 - 11:01 PM

Patty Mills, Danny Green, Kyle Anderson, Boris Diaw and Boban Marjanovic will start vs. the Thunder on Saturday.

This lineup is too much fun. The Spurs are resting Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, LaMarcus Aldridge and Manu Ginobili, while Kawhi Leonard (quad) is still out. Mills could see around 30 minutes for the shorthanded Spurs, so he's worth a look in DFS or for any owner in need of treys and assists.

Patty Mills (rest) will not suit up for Friday's game against the Grizzlies.

Mills absence should open up some minutes for Andre Miller, but with Tony Parker healthy, that doesn't mean much. Expect Mills to return to action Saturday vs. OKC.
Mar 24 - 7:18 PM

Patty Mills was excellent vs. the Clippers on Tuesday with 15 points and six assists in a 108-87 win.

Tony Parker was terrible with just four points on 1-of-5 shooting, so Mills gave the Spurs a lift tonight. He was an efficient 6-of-9 from the field with five boards and two 3-pointers and he didn't turn the ball over in 23 minutes. Mills was held to single-digit points in his previous three games, but he could be a sneaky source of points, assists and 3-pointers down the stretch if the Spurs rest their veterans often.
Mar 15 - 11:18 PM

Patty Mills came off the bench so that Andre Miller, who is possibly old enough to be Mills' father, could start.

Mills played 18 minutes and hit 3-of-11 shots for seven points, four assists and a 3-pointer. If you started Mills with the knowledge that Tony Parker was sitting this one out, we're sorry. The bottom line is that regardless of who is in or out for the Spurs, you still never know what the coaching staff will do from night to night.
