Darren Collison scored 11 points with two rebounds, nine assists, four steals and no turnovers in 37 minutes against the Pacers on Wednesday.
Collison only gets a 1.3 usage rate bump when he's not next to Rudy Gay (Achilles) this season. On the other hand, his efficiency falls off a cliff when he's not next to Gay, posting only a 46.1 true shooting percentage (TS%) without him and a 65.7 TS% with him. Discouraging stat aside, Collison should still be worth owning in standard leagues and should trend up. Jan 19 - 1:35 AM

Darren Collison scored 21 points with two assists, two steals, one rebound and two 3-pointers in 27 minutes in Sunday’s 118-122 loss to the Thunder.

This was his third 20-point game of the month. He is averaging 29.3 minutes, 16.1 points, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 rebounds per game in January. Ty Lawson (ankle) left tonight’s game after suffering an ankle injury. The Kings next game is on Wednesday, so Lawson has plenty of time to rest, but if he misses any time, Collison would see an increased role and handle the majority of the PG duties.

Darren Collison said the coaching staff told him to be aggressive on Tuesday.

"They told me, ‘it starts with me, you’ve got to be aggressive,’ like I had been earlier in the season, so I’m getting back to that," Collison said. He's coming off a 26-point game on Tuesday due to Ty Lawson (face) not being able to play. Collison was having a really rough time adjusting to coach Dave Joerger's system, but he's starting to find his footing now. He should be owned in all leagues again.
Jan 4 - 3:36 PM

Darren Collison scored 26 points with seven assists, two rebounds, one steal and two triples in Tuesday's 120-113 win over the Nuggets.

After a brutal two-week stretch, Collison has now played two solid games in a row after scoring 16 points in his previous outing. With Ty Lawson (eye) on the sidelines, Collison played a team-high 36 minutes and shot 10-of-16 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line. Lawson is day-to-day, but it shouldn't matter because Collison is finally out of his slump and he should be picked up in all formats.
Jan 4 - 12:49 AM

Darren Collison said he finally felt comfortable during Saturday's game vs. Memphis.

"My game is going downhill, being aggressive," Collison said Saturday, "and I felt like the last week or two, I took a step back mentally, kind of deferring to the offense instead of playing off my instincts. I felt comfortable [Saturday]. I’ll be all right now." After being a ghost for about two weeks, Collison stepped up vs. the Grizzlies with 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and no turnovers in 39 minutes. He gets a favorable matchup with Denver on Tuesday and Ty Lawson (face) isn't a lock to play, so things are finally looking up for the speedy guard.
Jan 1 - 9:20 AM

Darren Collison played 39 minutes against the Grizzlies on Saturday with 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and no turnovers.

With Ty Lawson (face) getting hurt today, Collison may have a huge responsibility to run the offense and get the ball to DeMarcus Cousins. Before the game, Collison said he's still trying to figure it out with the new offense. "It’s been a little bit of a contrast in style," Collison said. If he was dropped, it makes sense to pick him up.

Darren Collison was benched at halftime in favor of Ty Lawson on Wednesday vs. the Blazers, finishing with six points on 2-of-7 shooting.

Coach Dave Joerger is probably close to making a lineup switch because Lawson has outplayed Collison for two straight weeks. Collison only played 20 minutes and added five assists and one rebound, and he's averaging just 7.2 points, 3.8 assists and 1.2 rebounds on 35.9 percent shooting over his last five games. It's tough to drop a player who was so reliable in his past two seasons, but he's a drop candidate unless he turns things around vs. Memphis on Saturday, the No. 1 ranked defense in the NBA.

Darren Collison is still starting and struggling for the Kings, hitting 4-of-10 shots and a 3-pointer for nine points, four assists and a steal in Monday's win over the Sixers.

Ty Lawson played 20 minutes and had 12 points, four boards, four assists and two steals, and continues to push Collison for his job. Collison is averaging just 6.4 points, 3.4 assists and not much else on 33 percent shooting over his last five games. We are still recommending you hang onto him in case he turns it around, but if you do, adding Lawson as an insurance policy makes a ton of sense right now.

Darren Collison again road the pine down the stretch, finishing Friday’s win over the Wolves with just three points, six assists, one rebound and one 3-pointer in 20 minutes.

While Collison has been starting, he’s failed to exceed the 25-minute mark in his previous four outings, so it’s looking like we’ve entered value-killing timeshare territory with the point guards in Sacramento. Collison had one really good half of a season two years ago, but he’s not been much more than a late-round guy for most of his career.

Darren Collison started Wednesday's game, but he eventually took a backseat to Ty Lawson and finished with just eight points, one rebound and one assist in 22 minutes.

Collison checked out with 3:46 left in the third quarter and the Kings trailing by 14 points -- he never returned in a game that the Kings won. Head coach Dave Joerger isn't afraid to ride the hot hand and that hasn't been Collison lately, as he's a combined 14-of-47 from the field in his past five games (29.8 percent). He's averaging 6.7 points in just 22.7 minutes in his past three contests, and owners have no alternative but to wait for the inevitable upswing.

Darren Collison had one of his worst performances ever during Sunday's blowout loss to the Mavs, scoring just two points on 1-of-8 shooting to go with three assists and one board in 24 minutes.

Collison also missed his only free throw attempt, and put up a plus/minus rating of minus-12 to go with an ugly 11.8 true shooting percentage. He spent the entire fourth quarter riding the bench with Dave Joerger turning to Ty Lawson, and he just hasn't been very fun to own this year with averages of 12.9 points, 4.6 assists, 1.1 triples, 1.2 steals and 2.0 turnovers per contest. Yes, he's in a contract year, but thus far he hasn't done much to show that he's deserving of a massive raise.

Darren Collison scored 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting on Monday vs. the Lakers.

This was his third 20-point game of the season and his first since Nov. 23. Collison also dished out four assists with one rebound, one steal and a season-high four 3-pointers. Rudy Gay (hip) left the game after just 14 minutes in addition to Ben McLemore (quad), so that explains the bump in scoring. Unfortunately, he might see a lot of Patrick Beverley on Wednesday vs. Houston.
Tue, Dec 13, 2016 01:14:00 AM

Darren Collison scored 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting with two assists, one rebound, one steal and three triples in 32 minutes against the Jazz on Saturday.

Ty Lawson's role is diminishing and Collison's is growing -- he's played 30 or more minutes in four straight games, averaging 15.8 points, 3.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.8 3-pointers in that span. He's trending in the right direction and should finish strong as the impending free agent makes his case for a new contract this summer.
Sun, Dec 11, 2016 01:00:00 AM

Darren Collison started again Monday, but hit just 2-of-6 shots for six points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in 32 minutes of a 101-95 overtime loss to the Wizards.

He didn't commit a turnover tonight, which is the good news, but also didn't hit a 3-pointer and didn't play all that well. He's still trying to get back into a groove after missing the start of the season due to a suspension, but that just makes him an interesting buy-low candidate right now.
Mon, Nov 28, 2016 11:21:00 PM

Darren Collison scored a season-high 21 points against the Thunder on Wednesday, adding six assists and three 3-pointers in 31 minutes.

He got the start tonight and looks to have the job going forward. Collison has the wind at his back with his momentum in his last five, averaging 16.4 points, 2.2 boards, 5.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.0 treys on 57.4 percent from the line. He should be owned in all leagues.
