Toney Douglas has a deal to play in China during the 2014-15 season, but could still return to the NBA this year.
Douglas took part in a free agent workout with the Lakers on Tuesday and hopes to hook on with the team after the Chinese Basketball Season ends in February. Douglas' deal with the Jiangsu Dragons allows him to sign an NBA contract before Sunday, but his agent said that the workout with the Lakers was more of a preemptive showcase. Aug 28 - 10:25 AM

Toney Douglas has signed a deal to play in China next season.

The Heat were never expected to bring him back with the selection of Shabazz Napier. Douglas showed some promise coming up with the Knicks, and may wind up back on an NBA team after the Chinese season is over.
Aug 18 - 12:13 PM

Toney Douglas played 35 minutes in a start at shooting guard on Monday with 14 points, three boards, three assists, two steals and one 3-pointer.

The Heat have nothing to play for on Wednesday and Douglas could be looking at big minutes against a hapless Sixers defense. If you're feeling saucy, he's a decent player to use in the season finale, especially if Mario Chalmers also sits.
Apr 14 - 9:30 PM

Toney Douglas will replace Dwayne Wade (hamstring) in the starting lineup for Sunday's game vs. the Knicks.

Douglas' numbers as a starter aren't very impressive (6.0 points, 2.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds) so you'd have to be in a fairly deep league to use him as a plug-and-play option. There are nine games this Sunday, so you can probably find a better option on the wire.
Apr 6 - 12:28 PM

Toney Douglas played 39 minutes during Saturday's easy 88-67 win over the Bucks with 13 points, nine boards, four assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.

This was a garbage-time special yet again and he's coming off a 9-5-5 line on Friday in a blowout vs. the Pistons. Mario Chalmers (quad) should be back soon, so there's little reason to pick Douglas up. The Raptors come to Miami on Monday and the Heat probably won't blow them out.
Mar 29 - 11:45 PM

Toney Douglas and James Jones will start against the Pistons on Friday.

Coach Erik Spoelstra must want to keep his second unit together, and who can blame him? LeBron James is going to run the offense and there should be a lot of Chris Bosh vs. a vulnerable Pistons defense. Douglas is still a risky option.
Mar 28 - 6:54 PM

Toney Douglas will start in place of Dwyane Wade (rest) on Saturday vs. the Pelicans.

He played 22 minutes on Tuesday night and scored nine points while Wade sat out against the Cavs. Those stats serve as fair expectations for tonight against a weak Pelicans defense. Douglas is not worth using in most cases.
Mar 22 - 6:48 PM

Toney Douglas started in place of Dwyane Wade (rest) on Tuesday and had nine points, two rebounds, five assists and a 3-pointer on 3-of-7 shooting.

He has no fantasy value, sharing time with Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen on most nights, but held his own in tonight's start.
Mar 18 - 10:09 PM

Toney Douglas will start at SG in place of Dwyane Wade (rest) on Tuesday.

Douglas has started three games for Miami this season but his averages in those starts should convince fantasy owners to ignore him -- 5.3 points, 1.0 threes, 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.7 steals in 15 minutes per game.
Mar 18 - 6:37 PM

Toney Douglas started for Dwyane Wade (rest) on Monday against the Bobcats, scoring 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting (including two threes) with two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 19 minutes.

If this circumstance pops up against owners in deep leagues may want to consider a spot-start, but that's about it.
Mar 3 - 10:15 PM

Toney Douglas will start in place of Dwyane Wade on Monday.

He started the last time Dwyane Wade sat out, but only logged 11 minutes in that game against the Warriors. Fantasy owners should not be looking at Douglas as an option tonight.
Mar 3 - 6:58 PM

Toney Douglas started in place of Dwyane Wade (migraine) on Tuesday, playing 15 minutes for five points, three boards, two assists, one block and one 3-pointer on 2-of-9 shooting.

Coach Erik Spoelstra said he wanted to bring Ray Allen off the bench, which is why Douglas found his way into the starting lineup. Obviously, there's no reason to pick up Douglas in almost any league. Allen was quiet with seven points, seven boards, three assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes.
Feb 12 - 12:13 AM

Toney Douglas will start in place of Dwyane Wade on Tuesday.

Wade's migraines came up pretty quickly on him, but he reportedly wanted to play. Chances are Wade will play on Wednesday and there are 13 games on Wednesday, so it doesn't make sense to stream Douglas almost anywhere. Ray Allen figures to be a better start tonight.
Feb 11 - 8:23 PM

Toney Douglas has joined the Heat but he will not be active for Tuesday's game.

Douglas could eventually surface with a reserve role behind Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole, but the Heat are in no rush to deploy him.
Jan 21 - 6:47 PM

Toney Douglas is inactive for Friday's game vs. the Sixers.

He is still in transit and won't be around in time to start the game. Douglas won't be needed with Mario Chalmers in the starting lineup.
