Jeff Ayres played seven minutes in Tuesday's win vs. the Bulls, scoring two points with three rebounds despite dealing with a sprained finger.
Ayres was icing the injury after shootaround and it's been bothering him for about a week, but it's nearly irrelevant for fantasy owners given his season averages of 3.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.3 blocks. Mar 11 - 11:39 PM

Jeff Ayres (sprained finger) has been cleared to return vs. the Magic on Saturday.

He's buried on the depth chart as long as Tim Duncan, Tiago Splitter and Boris Diaw are healthy, but it's good to see the Spurs back at full strength as they go for their sixth consecutive victory.

Jeff Ayres (sprained finger) will miss Thursday's game against Miami.

Ayres is nursing a sprained second metacarpal phalangeal joint in his right hand and will miss Thursday's showdown against the Heat. The 26-year-old is only averaging 2.4 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game over his last 10 contests, so this isn't major fantasy news for most leagues.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Spurs big man Jeff Ayres scored a season-high 13 points in just 15 minutes vs. the Bucks on Sunday.

The Spurs rolled over the hapless Bucks in San Antonio, and Ayres' lack of fantasy value should be clear enough from the phrase "season-high 13 points in just 15 minutes." He should be avoided outside of the deepest leagues.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Jeff Ayres started at center on Tuesday but had just two points, three rebounds and a block in 22 minutes.

He just doesn't have the offensive game to warrant use in fantasy and we expect Gregg Popovich to mix and match his starting centers going forward, with Tiago Splitter out indefinitely.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Jeff Ayres will start in place of Tiago Splitter (shoulder) Tuesday.

With Splitter out 3-5 weeks, the Spurs are expected to fill the spot by committee. Ayres, Matt Bonner, Aron Baynes and Boris Diaw will all be asked to do a little more. Don't expect anything more than 15-18 minutes for Ayres.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Jeff Ayres started again for the Spurs on Wednesday but didn't attempt a shot, finishing with 10 rebounds and almost nothing else in another blowout win over the Bucks.

Boris Diaw, who originally appeared to be the best bet for fantasy owners in the absence of Tiago Splitter (calf) came off the bench for nine points, four rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes, while the Spurs saw 12 players contribute in the laugher.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Spurs big man Jeff Ayres will make his first start for San Antonio on Tuesday, replacing Tiago Splitter (calf).

Gregg Popovich may want to keep his primary bench unit intact, with Boris Diaw leading the reserves, and Ayres is a dubious fantasy option. He has yet to score double-digit points or grab more than six rebounds in a game, and he's blocked four shots all year.

Spurs big man Jeff Pendergraph has legally changed his last name from Pendergraph to Ayres.

This could cause some confusion on fantasy draft night, as his name is still showing as Pendergraph in many places. But we're going to go ahead and make the change, and hopefully all sites will have it updated by the time the season rolls around. But unless you're in a very deep league, there's no reason to draft Jeff, regardless of what his last name is.

GM R.C. Buford said that Jeff Pendergraph can play power forward or center for the Spurs.

He’s a very physical player," Buford said. "His skill set fits us. He’s a good passer who can play four and five. All indications are he’s an 18-foot jump shooter who just hasn’t had a lot of opportunities." Pendergraph will have to battle for backup minutes with Boris Diaw, but with DeJuan Blair likely gone, the former Pacer could get a decent amount of minutes once Tim Duncan gets some rest.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Spurs agreed to terms with PF Jeff Pendergraph on a two-year contract worth an estimated $4 million.

A 2009 second-round pick, Pendergraph fell behind the likes of Tyler Hansbrough and Ian Mahinmi on the Pacers' depth chart. He appeared in just 37 games last year, averaging 10.0 minutes a night. The Spurs will get the most out of Pendergraph, but his ceiling is as a rotational big.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Jeff Pendergraph (new baby) missed Tuesday's practice.

Pendergraph also missed Monday's practice, and he remains in the hospital with his wife. The Pacers are "hopeful" he'll re-join the team on Wednesday in advance of Game 1 vs. Miami, but he's considered questionable at the moment.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Jeff Pendergraph missed the Pacers practice on Monday following the birth of his daughter.

Game 1 vs. the Heat won't be played until Wednesday and there's no doubt that Pendergraph will be in uniform. Whether he plays in the series is another question, as he made just two brief cameos vs. the Knicks in the second round.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Jeff Pendergraph has earned the first fine for flopping in the playoffs this season.

Congratulations to Mr. Pendergraph on the prestigious award. The backup big man will be fined $5,000 for his first offense in the postseason and would be facing additional penalty if he's guilty again at any point during the rest of the season.

Jeff Ayres - F/C - Spurs

Jeff Pendergraph scored 12 points off the bench on Sunday vs. New York, adding four boards and one assist in 17 minutes.

Tyler Hansbrough (one points and four boards) had a quiet game against the Knicks with just one point, but David West (17 points and eight boards) and his troublesome back figure to sit in at least one of the final two games of the year. Hansbrough makes sense as a pickup in standard leagues and Pendergraph could also be useful in deep leagues.
