Dante Cunningham (knee) has been diagnosed with a non-displaced right proximal fibula fracture and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
The Pelicans said he wasn't expected to miss much time, but they didn't know Cunningham suffered a fracture from banging knees on Wednesday. Cunningham's playing time as a starter was trending up with around 30 minutes per game recently -- he does only have a 12.0 usage rate this year. While he was out on Wednesday, Solomon Hill started the second half and is likely to be starting going forward. They also used a lot of three-guard lineups with Jrue Holiday, Tim Frazier and Langston Galloway. Frazier should be owned in standard leagues, Galloway is a short-term pickup for 14-team leagues and Hill is worth a look for owners with something to cut in deeper leagues. Nov 24 - 5:26 PM

Dante Cunningham (left knee) isn't expected to miss much time.

He only banged his knee and the Pelicans were fine with their depth today. Cunningham may be in the starting lineup, but he's one of the least valuable starters in the NBA for fantasy purposes.
Nov 24 - 12:29 AM

Dante Cunningham (left knee injury) is questionable to return vs. the Wolves on Wednesday.

Cunningham may have injured himself on a defensive play while trying to stop Zach LaVine, but we should have more details soon. Solomon Hill started the second half and he stands to gain the most if Cunningham can't return.
Nov 23 - 10:26 PM

Dante Cunningham came off the bench to start the second half on Wednesday.

Solomon Hill replaced him as a starter, but Cunningham still finished with seven points, nine boards, two assists and two blocks in 33 minutes, compared to Hill's 20 minutes. Whether he starts or comes off the bench in New Orleans' next game is irrelevant outside of very deep leagues.
Nov 16 - 9:47 PM

Dante Cunningham got the start against the Bucks on Thursday with five points, four rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block in 19 minutes.

Coach Alvin Gentry started him off against Giannis Antetokounmpo and it worked to a degree. Cunningham's tiny usage and lack of stats in other areas makes him a very unappealing fantasy option. This line is pretty close to his ceiling.
Nov 10 - 11:23 PM

Tim Frazier, E'Twaun Moore (toe), Dante Cunningham, Anthony Davis and Omer Asik will start against the Bucks on Thursday.

The Pelicans will mix it up and bring Solomon Hill off the bench for better shooting in the second unit. Cunningham is not a reliable option in most fantasy leagues.
Nov 10 - 8:01 PM

Dante Cunningham will not play Friday vs. Phoenix, as he has been suspended for one game for pleading guilty to negligent driving.

Cunningham pleaded guilty to driving while exhibiting the effects of having consumed alcohol. Cunningham's minutes have been all over the board this season. He played over 38 minutes on Tuesday, but the saw just five minutes of action on Wednesday. In that Wednesday game, Lance Stephenson was the primary beneficiary, playing a season-high 45 minutes. Terrence Jones also saw a major boost, scoring seven points and grabbing nine rebounds in 28 minutes. Both Stephenson and Jones are intriguing DFS options on Friday.
Nov 4 - 1:26 PM

Dante Cunningham (hip) will start against the Grizzlies on Wednesday.

Well, apparently coach Alvin Gentry likes what he got out of Cunningham in his 38 minutes on Tuesday. He'll join Tim Frazier, E'Twaun Moore, Solomon Hill and Anthony Davis in the first unit. Terrence Jones was a DNP-CD on Tuesday, so he might be looking at another one tonight. Cunningham isn't a fantasy option in most leagues.
Nov 2 - 6:42 PM

Dante Cunningham (hip contusion) is probable to play against the Grizzlies on Wednesday.

He surprisingly got the start and played 38 minutes on Tuesday. Cunningham did not play well and the Pelicans may want to go a different route with a starter next to Anthony Davis. Cunningham isn't a great fantasy option.
Nov 2 - 4:49 PM

Dante Cunningham started and played 38 minutes on Tuesday vs. the Bucks, but scored just four points on 1-of-9 shooting.

We said before the game that he didn't have much upside, and it makes you wonder why Terrence Jones didn't even touch the floor. Cunningham added just five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one trey, and isn't worth picking up in standard leagues even if he continues to start.
Nov 1 - 11:08 PM

Dante Cunningham will start vs. the Bucks on Tuesday, sending Omer Asik to the bench.

The Pelicans are making a change to match up with the Bucks' length, but Asik has been useless so far this season. Cunningham doesn't have much upside, but he scored 15 points with eight rebounds, two blocks and three treys in 32 minutes in his last outing. Keep in mind that he was scoreless in the game before that outburst.
Nov 1 - 7:32 PM

Dante Cunningham started the second half of Friday's game vs. the Warriors, scoring 15 points with eight rebounds, two blocks and three treys in 32 minutes.

This has fluke written all over it after Cunningham was held scoreless in nine minutes in the season opener. If he does this again, we'll let you know. Leave him on the wire.
Oct 29 - 12:53 AM

Dante Cunningham started the second half of Friday's game vs. the Warriors, sending Omer Asik to the bench.

It's Omer Asik, so we're not surprised. Anthony Davis will slide to center and this could mean more minutes for Terrence Jones in the second half.
Oct 28 - 11:03 PM

Dante Cunningham scored 13 points with one rebound, one assist and no turnovers in 30 minutes against the Suns on Saturday.

He might be playing more center with Alexis Ajinca (shoulder) getting hurt tonight. Cunningham has logged significant minutes at the three, four and five this season as one of the most versatile players in the NBA. If Ajinca is out, Cunningham is probably worth owning in standard leagues.
Apr 9 - 9:27 PM

Dante Cunningham went cold during Wednesday's loss in Boston, scoring two points on 0-of-6 FGs and 2-of-2 FTs, with three boards, three assists and one block.

Cunningham committed five personal fouls but he still played 31 minutes, and his playing time is bullet-proof with so few options available to coach Alvin Gentry. Fantasy owners will be hard-pressed to find a player doing less with so much playing time.
