The Cavaliers view small forward Alonzo Gee "as a backup," according to Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.
Gee signed a three-year contract last summer and he started all 82 games at SF, but he averaged just 10.3 points on 41 percent shooting (31.5 percent from downtown), with 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.4 blocks and 1.6 turnovers. His Player Effeciency Rating of 10.6 was 48th among qualifying small forwards, and the Cavs' view of him as a backup may shape their strategy on draft day. May 12 - 9:26 AM

Date:

Alonzo Gee played 31 minutes on Wednesday but hit just 2-of-6 shots for four points and two rebounds.

He had 19 points and three 3-pointers on Sunday, but has totaled just eight points and eight rebounds in his last two games. The minutes are there, but he's just not producing right now.
Apr 10 - 11:15 PM

Alonzo Gee hit just 1-of-4 shots for four points, six rebounds and two steals in 31 minutes on Tuesday.

He had 19 points and three treys on Sunday after going for 16 & 10 on Friday. The good news is that he got minutes, but just couldn't get it going against the tough Pacers' D tonight.
Apr 9 - 10:09 PM

The Cavaliers won at home behind Alonzo Gee's team-high 19 points, three 3-pointers, seven rebounds and two assists.

Gee shot 7-of-12 from the field, a far cry from his career-worst 40.5 percent average this season. We won't rule out a bounce-back year in 2013-14, but owners chastened by his play should view him as a final-round value with upside.
Apr 7 - 9:37 PM

Alonzo Gee scored 16 points in Friday's win over the Celtics to go with 10 boards, one assist, one steal and one block in 33 minutes.

He's been bad over his previous 10 games, shooting only 38.0 percent from the field for 9.6 points per game, so he'll have to do it again to be worth a pickup in most leagues. Luke Walton suffering a ankle injury could help Gee and he's at least on the radar.
Apr 5 - 10:51 PM

Alonzo Gee finished Saturday's tough road loss with 15 points, two rebounds and three steals, making 4-of-7 FGs and 7-of-8 FTs.

Gee has been a mild disappointment this year, with his numbers plateauing or regressing in most categories, though in fairness he spends every game defending the opposition's best scorers. He's scored double-digit points in six of his past seven games, however, and seems to be picking up some slack with Kyrie Irving (shoulder) out of commission.
Mar 16 - 11:31 PM

Alonzo Gee scored 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds and one block over 33 minutes on Friday.

Gee hasn't really seen a bump in value since the exit of Kyrie Irving, but he's a borderline value in 12-14 team leagues and worth a look if you're in a pinch.
Mar 16 - 12:07 AM

Alonzo Gee hit just 5-of-15 shots but finished with 17 points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal in 32 minutes on Tuesday.

Gee has hit double digits in scoring in four of his last five games and will be looked at to help carry the scoring load in Cleveland with Kyrie Irving's season likely over.
Mar 12 - 10:16 PM

Alonzo Gee played 28 low-impact minutes on Sunday, scoring four points on 1-of-6 shooting, with three rebounds and two steals.

Gee is now shooting 33.9 percent shooting in the past six games. His numbers have plateaued or regressed compared to last season, despite the fact that he's playing more minutes. In fairness, he always defends the opponent's toughest players (from PFs to PGs) and the Cavs don't run any plays for him.
Mar 10 - 8:59 PM

Alonzo Gee hit 6-of-16 shots and a 3-pointer for 15 points and five rebounds in 33 minutes.

Gee is far too inconsistent to be relied up by fantasy owners, but played very well tonight, scoring the most points he's had in a game since Feb. 23. Over his last nine games, he's scored 15, 10, 2, 6, 11, 9, 17, 10 and 7 points, which paints a pretty vivid picture as to why he's available in your league. He's been good for close to a steal per game over that stretch, and the occasional 3-ball, but a lack of rebounds, assists and blocks makes him a marginal fantasy player, at best.
Mar 6 - 11:28 PM

Alonzo Gee shot 8-of-8 from the field on Saturday, including three 3-pointers, but his 20-point game wasn't enough to cool off the red-hot Nuggets.

Gee made six shots in the first quarter before inexplicably getting gun-shy, and he went without any field goals in the second and fourth quarters. He's playing nearly 32 minutes per game this season but his numbers thus far have been disappointing -- 10.2 points, 0.8 threes, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals, giving him borderline value in 12-team leagues. This was his first game with double-digit points in the past three weeks.
Feb 9 - 10:31 PM

Alonzo Gee scored two points on 1-of-5 shooting with eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals in 29 minutes on Friday.

Gee is a mixed bag on most nights and it's usually not all that great. If you're hurting and need a productive player in standard formats give him a look, but don't hang on at the expense of a hot free agent.
Jan 25 - 10:55 PM

Alonzo Gee struggled with foul trouble on Friday, playing just 21 minutes on his way to two points on 1-of-7 shooting with two rebounds and two steals.

Gee is a borderline player in 12-team leagues but with a starting job in hand and some theoretic upside he's better than your run-of-the-mill low-end player. We wouldn't read too much into any one performance and he's coming off a nice night on Wednesday.
Jan 12 - 1:41 AM

Alonzo Gee had 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, a steal, a block and a career-high five 3-pointers in Wednesday's easy win over the Hawks.

Gee has been putting up solid numbers all season, but may have been dropped in your league after scoring just eight points on Monday. If he was, he's always worth a close look in most leagues.
Jan 9 - 10:00 PM

Alonzo Gee had 16 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and a 3-pointer on 5-of-10 shooting in another start on Wednesday.

Gee has quietly been holding some value all season and is averaging 11 points, six boards, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals over his last five, making him worth a close look in 12-team leagues.
