Sundiata Gaines has entered the NBA D-League player pool, according to sources.
Gaines had been playing for Besiktas Milangaz of the Turkish Basketball League, but will now be available for NBA teams to claim from the player pool. The 27-year-old hasn't played in the NBA since the 2011-12 season, so his fantasy value is extremely limited even if he is able to hook on with a team. Jan 30 - 10:25 AM

Sundiata Gaines has signed a two-month deal with Besiktas of the Turkish Basketball League.

Gaines hasn't played in the NBA since he suited up for 57 games for the Nets during the 2011-12 season and spent the 2012-13 season in China. The two-month deal likely means that Gaines will use his time in Turkey as a way to showcase his skills for an NBA team that might need depth later in the season, but fantasy owners need not concern themselves with the 27-year-old point guard's situation.

Pacers sign G Sundiata Gaines.

The 26-year-old guard has bounced around in his young career. The Pacers will be his fifth team in four seasons and he'll be vying for a roster spot when training camp rolls around later this month.

Sundiata Gaines played just 12 minutes in Monday's loss to the Sixers.

Gaines scored two points with one rebound and one assist, and was a popular Roto league pickup for those seeking players likely to play big minutes. That clearly didn't happen tonight, and backup Armon Johnson (10 points, two assists, 22 minutes) was the better play, if you want to call it that. MarShon Brooks also played some point guard, and ultimately Gaines is a gamble in Thursday's finale.

Sundiata Gaines got another start in place of Deron Williams, who might be done for the year with a calf injury, and had 18 points, six rebounds, six assists, a steal and four 3-pointers on 7-of-13 shooting.

Yes, it was against the human sieve known as Mike Bibby, but Gaines could start the rest of the way, and should be given a close look in all leagues if Williams is shut down. He's the only point guard standing in New Jersey.

Sundiata Gaines started for injured Deron Williams (calf) on Monday against the Heat, scoring 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in 33 minutes.

Gaines and MarShon Brooks are the only two guards that can run the point with Williams out, so Gaines is worth a speculative look if you're in need of a point guard. We have no idea what Williams is going to do with the rest of his season, but if he decides to turn it in then Gaines will be a decent bet to post low-end production.

Sundiata Gaines started at point guard for Deron Williams (flu), but missed all five of his shots, failed to score and handed out just one assist in 19 minutes on Wednesday.

He's the only point guard available to backup Williams right now, which is good news for the fantasy owners of Deron. Hopefully he'll be feeling better and be ready to go for Friday's game against John Wall and the Wizards.

Sundiata Gaines started at point guard for the Nets on Friday and had six points, four rebounds and an assist on 2-of-13 shooting in Friday's blowout loss to the Magic.

When you're starting Gaines, DeShawn Stevenson and Shelden Williams, blowouts are going to be frequent occurrences. Jordan Farmar (groin) and Deron Williams (calf) were both out, allowing Gaines to start tonight.

Sundiata Gaines will start for the Nets against the Magic on Friday.

With Deron Williams (calf) and Jordan Farmar (groin) out, Gaines gets the start for the injury-ravaged Nets. With D-Will, Farmar and Brook Lopez (ankle) all injured and newly-acquired Gerald Wallace not expected to play until Saturday, points may be hard to come by for New Jersey when then take on Orlando Friday night.

Sundiata Gaines (toe) is expected to "give it a go" on Wednesday, according to Avery Johnson.

Even with Jordan Farmar (groin) sidelined, Gaines' role remains limited. He's averaging just 4.8 points in his last five games.

Sundiata Gaines (toe) is listed as questionable for Wednesday.

This is the first we've heard of a toe injury for Gaines, and he must have come out of his last game with the soreness. New Jersey has arguably been bitten by the injury bug harder than any other team in the league. With Jordan Farmar ruled out through the All-Star break, Deron Williams would see all the minutes he could handle if Gaines is unable to go.

Sundiata Gaines scored eight points on 3-of-8 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in just 16 minutes off the bench on Monday.

Gaines looked good tonight, but he's been buried for a while and needs to catch a few breaks before he'll be a worthwhile asset.
Mon, Feb 20, 2012 10:44:00 PM

Sundiata Gaines scored 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, six assists, and a steal in 22 minutes off the bench on Friday.

Gaines did his damage in garbage time, and needs some injury help or a promotion before he has any real fantasy value.
Sat, Feb 11, 2012 01:59:00 AM

Sundiata Gaines scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, no assists, and one steal in 17 minutes on Monday.

He's starting, but perhaps not for long with MarShon Brooks starting the second half of Monday's game and generally going off. If you've been using Gaines in a deeper format, it's time to look elsewhere.

Nets SG Sundiata Gaines scored a season-high 11 points in Sunday's loss to the Cavaliers, adding four rebounds, four assists, three steals and five turnovers.

Gaines has at least one steal, three assists and three rebounds in every game this year, but he's a low-end fantasy option, at best. If his mediocre numbers don't scare you away, consider that he's shooting 41% from the field and 62% from the FT line.
