Devin Ebanks is not expected to return to the Lakers.
We all knew this one long before the Lakers season ended. Ebanks was glued to the bench and should have never been re-signed before the season anyway. He'll look to resurrect his career elsewhere, possibly in the D-League. Apr 29 - 9:47 AM

Date:

Devin Ebanks was not with the Lakers on Tuesday due to an upper respiratory infection.

Ebanks played once in January, twice in February and once in March while never tallying over six minutes in any appearance. Needless to say, his absence has absolutely no impact for fantasy owners or for the Lakers.
Apr 10 - 9:11 AM

Devin Ebanks started at small forward in Friday's win over the Wizards, scoring eight points on 4-of-10 shooting with five rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes.

Ebanks is little more than a placeholder for when Pau Gasol returns, and will be limited to spot-start value in massive formats.

Devin Ebanks scored a career-high 15 points with five rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday.

Mike D'Antoni started Ebanks in the second half for Antawn Jamison, who was having some massive defensive lapses. Ebanks missed all three attempts from beyond the arc, but at least there's a glimmer of hope for upside. D'Antoni has a knack for turning trash into treasure in fantasy, but we'll need to see a lot more out of Ebanks to think about grabbing him in standard leagues.

Mike D'Antoni wants to find time for Devin Ebanks in the rotation.

"It's always frustrating not to play, but I have to remain professional and support my teammates," Ebanks said. "If I keep working, stay ready, my numbers will be called at some point." Ebanks' playing time has plummeted since his suspicion of DUI arrest and is not on the fantasy radar.

Devin Ebanks had five points in five minutes on Saturday, his first action since being arrested on suspicion of DUI on Nov. 9.

Ebanks has a court appearance in early December, but regardless of the outcome he's not going to be a fantasy asset.

Devin Ebanks, fresh off a DUI on Friday, is being shut down by the Lakers indefinitely.

The move makes sense, but he wasn't really contributing much to begin with.

Devin Ebanks was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of DUI, The Los Angeles Times reports.

No further information surrounding the arrest was immediately available and for the moment the reported arrest has been lost in the news of Mike Brown's dismissal. Stay tuned to see whether Ebanks' arrest will cost him any playing time.

Devin Ebanks was the only Lakers player to score double-digit points on Thursday, as L.A. lost to the Kings and finished their preseason with an 0-8 record.

Ebanks scored 14 points with seven rebounds, two assists and five turnovers in 25 minutes. He would likely start and play heavy minutes if Kobe Bryant (foot) missed any games, but we never bet against the Black Mamba.

Devin Ebanks scored 20 points off the bench in the Lakers' 103-98 exhibition loss to the Kings on Friday, hitting 7-of-10 shots (including four threes) with six rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes.

Ebanks opened some eyes with his play tonight, but he has practically no chance at fantasy value fighting for the scraps from Longshanks' table. And yeah, by Longshanks we mean Kobe.

Updating a previous item, Lakers sign G/F Devin Ebanks.

Ebanks returns to the Lakers on a one-year deal and although he actually opened last season as the starting SF for the Lakers, he quickly proved he was overmatched for that role. Metta World Peace and Antawn Jamison are expected to be ahead of him on the depth chart this season and he won't be relevant for fantasy this year.

Devin Ebanks will sign his one-year contract with the Lakers on Monday.

Ebanks was always expected to return on a one-year contract (his qualifying contract offer), but it was put on hold for a while as the Lakers worked on bigger moves. Now that he'll officially be back with the team, Ebanks will play out this season and become an unrestricted free agent in 2013. He's capable of backing up both the shooting guard and small forward spots, but given the landscape of the seriously revamped roster, Ebanks is irrelevant in fantasy leagues.

Devin Ebanks will officially re-sign with the Lakers following the completion of the Dwight Howard trade.

Ebanks had been holding off on signing his qualifying contract offer in case he was involved in a potential deal, but the Lakers will keep him despite acquiring Howard. He'll function as depth at the end of the bench and nothing more, which means he'll have zero fantasy appeal.

Devin Ebanks still hasn't officially re-signed with the Lakers.

Ebanks has agreed to accept the qualifying contract offer from the Lakers and play on a one-year deal, but he hasn't signed the new deal yet. Ebanks and the Lakers reportedly have a "mutual agreement not to sign for multiple reasons." The swingman had been dealing with a bone bruise on his knee, his agent wanted to avoid Ebanks being included in a trade, and GM Mitch Kupchak said he wanted the extra roster space in case the team made a trade. However, Ebanks is expected to open the 2012-13 season with the Lakers.

Devin Ebanks hasn't signed his contract with the Lakers for next season because of a bone bruise in his knee.

It's also the same reason that he's not playing in summer league. GM Mitch Kupchak also admitted that Ebanks not signing yet gives the Lakers some "extra flexibility" and it allows Ebanks to pursue other offers if they become available.
