Teammate Joe Ingles does commercials for mattresses, so one would think every mattress store around Salt Lake City would be calling Favors' agent. The big man is changing his mattress to fix his back problems and he's been rolling with second-round value in his last four. Feb 6 - 1:26 AM

Derrick Favors had 16 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks on 7-of-14 shooting in Wednesday's win over the Nuggets.

He's played 30-plus minutes in each of his last three games, and it looks like he's back and good to go. That was a long month that he was listed as day-to-day with his back injury, so let's just quietly hope he stays healthy the rest of the way. He's averaging 15.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in his five games since returning from the injury.
Feb 4 - 12:41 AM

Derrick Favors scored 13 points with eight rebounds and four blocks in 38 minutes against the Bulls on Monday.

There's still no word if he got a new mattress, but nobody will be sleeping on him in fantasy leagues anymore. Favors is coming off a 20-point game on Saturday and should be an early-round player going forward.
Feb 2 - 1:42 AM

Derrick Favors said his back problems may have been due to sleeping on his stomach and from having a soft mattress.

"I’m in the process of of changing my mattress now," Favors said. "It wasn’t soft, but it was kind of outdated. I had it for a couple of years." Former Jazzman Al Jefferson spent over $23K on his mattress in his Utah days, so maybe Favors can give him a call for help. Whatever the case, Favors has looked fantastic recently and dropped 20 points on Saturday.
Feb 1 - 3:00 PM

Rudy Gobert is excited that Derrick Favors is starting again.

"I'm happy that he's back in the lineup," Gobert said. "It's great to have him back and we really missed his presence. We feel like we want to try and get back to how we played last year and at the start of this season." Favors moved back into the starting lineup on Friday vs. the Wolves and was excellent, scoring 20 points with nine boards and one block in 35 minutes. Needless to say, his buy-low window is likely closed.
Jan 30 - 12:18 PM

Derrick Favors will start against the Wolves on Friday with Trey Lyles moving back to the bench.

It was just a matter of time. Favors' back has been responding really well, so his workload should continue to gradually increase. Needless to say, Favors belongs in all active lineups. Lyles had a good run with the first unit, but he's safe to drop outside of dynasty formats.
Jan 29 - 1:24 PM

In his second game back from an extended absence, Derrick Favors posted 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting with three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 21 minutes.

"At this point it becomes what type of shape is he in?" said Quin Snyder, referring to Favors' playing time and role. "[It's] us not wanting to play him beyond what he's capable of right now." Favors didn't need to play more than 21 minutes in an easy win tonight, and he should be more active when the Jazz host the Wolves on Friday.

Jan 28 - 12:24 AM

Derrick Favors is likely going to come off the bench against the Hornets on Wednesday.

That'll put Trey Lyles in the starting lineup again. Favors played just 20 minutes in his return on Monday, so expect him to be in the 23-27 range tonight. Expect Favors to get hot again soon.
Jan 27 - 7:37 PM

Derrick Favors (back) is not on Utah's injury report, and will play Wednesday vs. the Hornets.

Head coach Quin Snyder said that Favors was not experiencing any pain in his back on Tuesday after logging 20 minutes off the bench on Monday, so he should be fine moving forward. While Favors did come off the bench on Monday, it'll only be a matter of time until he replaces Trey Lyles in the starting five.
Jan 26 - 5:17 PM

Derrick Favors (back) returned from a 16-game absence on Monday vs. the Pistons, scoring 14 points with five boards and one assist in 20 minutes.

He came off the bench, but there is no reason to be concerned because the Jazz are just easing him back into action. Favors said that the pain in his back had been so bad that he struggled to bend over to tie his shoes on some days, but he looked really good tonight and his owners can feel comfortable about plugging him back into lineups.
Jan 26 - 3:06 AM

Derrick Favors (back) will come off the bench on Monday against the Pistons.

He is expected to have a minutes restriction for his first game in over a month. Trey Lyles will stick in the starting lineup and should be close to 20 minutes tonight. Favors can be put back into all lineups.
Jan 25 - 8:28 PM

Derrick Favors (back) is probable to play against the Pistons on Monday.

Finally. Favors has been out for over one month and he will likely get back out there against Ersan Ilyasova. Fantasy owners can plug Favors back into their lineups, but there's still a small chance he doesn't play tonight.
Jan 25 - 7:30 PM

Derrick Favors (back) is being listed as doubtful for Monday's game vs. the Pistons.

Despite Quin Snyder being "more positive than usual" about Favors' progress, the Party Man looks like he'll still be sidelined on Monday. It's hard to project a realistic timetable because the Jazz have provided absolutely no information, but Favors has now missed over a month of action. Assuming he's out, Trey Lyles, who is averaging 9.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 1.1 3PM on 52.3 percent shooting in January, will draw the nod again.
Jan 25 - 1:34 PM

Derrick Favors (back) will not play against the Nets on Friday.

With tomorrow's game being postponed, Favors will be out for over a month because his last game was way back on Dec. 23. Perhaps the Jazz shouldn't have listed him as day-to-day with this injury. We'll see more of Trey Lyles and Trevor Booker at power forward.
Jan 22 - 6:06 PM

Derrick Favors (back) will not play Wednesday vs. the Knicks.

"With Derrick, it's all a part of a process," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. "Back injuries are tricky. Some days you feel good, and you feel like you can play. Other days, you don't feel so good. Above anything, we just want him to be healthy. But it's a process, and we have to take it one day at a time." Wednesday will mark Favors' 15th consecutive game on the sidelines, and given the way things have been going, we're going to consider him doubtful for Friday's game in Brooklyn.
