If the Jazz extend a player this season "it will almost certainly be [Derrick] Favors," according to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Utah GM Dennis Lindsey said that the trade sending Tibor Pleiss to the 76ers was "essentially [exchanging] future draft picks for more cap flexibility." The team is now roughly $12 million under the salary cap, with enough future cap space to lock up Favors and keep him off the market next summer. The 25-year-old was hampered by a back injury last year, but he still posted a career-high 16.4 points with 8.1 boards, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Sep 4 - 10:46 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) and Alec Burks (knee) will not play on Wednesday vs. the Lakers.

This is a must-win game vs. the Jazz, so Favors must really be hurting. With Rudy Gobert (knee) also out, we can expect to see a lot of Trey Lyles and Trevor Booker tonight. Jeff Withey could get a lot of run too and may even start.
Apr 13 - 9:45 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) didn't go through Wednesday's shootaround and he's questionable to play vs. the Lakers.

The Rockets play at 8pm, while the Jazz play at 10:30, so if Houston is up big there's a greater chance that Favors sits out -- Utah needs a win and a Houston loss to steal the No. 8 seed. We're unlikely to get another update until close to tip-off.
Apr 13 - 7:17 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) returned from a one-game absence on Monday vs. Dallas, scoring 11 points with three boards, one steal and one block in 28 minutes.

He came off the bench behind Trey Lyles because the Jazz probably wanted to ease him back into action, but he ended up starting the second half in place of Rudy Gobert (ankle). Favors was very quiet tonight which suggests his knee was bothering him, but his owners will obviously want to stick with him for Wednesday's must-win game vs. the Lakers.
Apr 11 - 11:59 PM

Updating a previous report, Derrick Favors will come off the bench on Monday vs. Dallas, while Trey Lyles will draw another start.

The Jazz may want to limit Favors' minutes tonight even though it's a must-win game, so he's probably not 100 percent. His owners in season-long leagues can deploy him, but he's too risky to use in DFS now.
Apr 11 - 8:56 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) will start against the Mavs on Monday.

He was surprisingly out on Sunday, but everything went well in warmups for Favors. He could be limited with his knee soreness. His return will take away from Trey Lyles, who was marvelous on Sunday.
Apr 11 - 8:30 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) will warm up and is a game-time decision to face the Mavs on Monday.

This game is huge, but Trey Lyles was a revelation on Sunday in a win. If Favors is out again, it'll be Lyles benefiting in a game suited to his style. We should have an update in about 90 minutes.
Apr 11 - 7:23 PM

Derrick Favors (right knee soreness) is questionable for Monday's game vs. Dallas.

Favors was a late scratch on Sunday, and although Monday is a critical game for both the Jazz and Mavericks, this is a virtual non-update since there has been no new information provided. Favors will do everything he can to play considering what's on the line, but Trey Lyles would start in his place if Favors is unable to get the party started.
Apr 11 - 12:36 PM

Derrick Favors (right knee soreness) is a late scratch on Sunday vs. the Nuggets.

Jazz reporter Tony Jones saw him in the locker room and said that nothing "seemed amiss" and Favors was also in the official starting lineup. This is a must-win game for the Jazz, so his knee must be really bothering him. For what it's worth, Favors isn't even on the bench and Trey Lyles started in his place.
Apr 10 - 5:13 PM

Derrick Favors scored 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting Friday, to go with 11 rebounds, two steals, four blocks and four turnovers in 37 minutes.

The Utah starting unit was destroyed by the Clippers' B-squad in this one, posting a net rating of minus-73.2, and that has to sting for the Jazz as they've now opened the door for Houston to potentially usurp them for the No. 8 spot out West. With Utah's final three games of the regular season coming against Denver, Dallas and Los Angeles (Lakers), owners can expect Favors to put up some gaudy stat lines as Utah fights for their postseason lives.
Apr 9 - 3:39 AM

Derrick Favors had just eight points, four rebounds, a steal and a block on 3-of-5 shooting in Tuesday's loss to the Spurs.

The Spurs have a knack for shutting down studs and that's what happened tonight. Favors should bounce back in his next game, as long as his knee is feeling OK.
Apr 6 - 12:49 AM

Derrick Favors (knee) returned to action on Sunday with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting, two rebounds, three assists and two steals in 28 minutes.

Favors hurt his knee on Wednesday and conceded that he still feels "a little pain here and there," but he's gutting it out with the Jazz on the bubble in the playoff race. Today's victory leaves them 1.0 game up on the No. 9 seed Rockets, and barring a setback we should see Favors get his usual workload vs. the Spurs on Tuesday.
Apr 3 - 9:06 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) will return to the starting lineup for Sunday's game vs. the Suns, sending Trey Lyles back to the bench.

Favors will be returning from a one-game stint on the sidelines and should see a full compliment of minutes. Go ahead and get him active for tonight's favorable matchup against Phoenix. Lyles' value takes a substantial hit with the demotion to the second unit.
Apr 3 - 4:39 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Suns.

This is a game that the Jazz should win even without Favors, so they may be cautious again. If Favors is held out again, Trey Lyles could draw another start and will benefit the most. Favors should be considered day-to-day.
Apr 2 - 8:52 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) is out for Friday night against the Wolves.

His right knee soreness kept him out for most of the second half on Wednesday. With Favors out, the Jazz will likely go with a Trey Lyles in the first unit. Lyles is a sneaky steamer or tourney play on DFS. Favors' fantasy owners will have to weigh how important it will be to keep him stashed.
