Derrick Favors (left knee bone bruise) has been ruled out for Monday's game vs. New Orleans.

Favors shot around on Friday but the fact that he's been ruled out a day in advance doesn't bode well. He's had multiple setbacks this season and Utah isn't going to take any chances, as the goal is to have him healthy for the postseason. He's unlikely to be a fantasy asset down the stretch.
Mar 26 - 8:54 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) will not play against the Clippers on Saturday.

The good news is he was doing some shooting at practice on Friday. Favors' bone bruise has kept him out since Mar. 7 and the Jazz aren't in a rush to bring him back, especially after he said he was playing on one leg earlier this month. The last time the Jazz played the Clips on Mar. 13, Boris Diaw got the start in the win. Joe Johnson may come off the bench, but he's still the better DFS play.
Mar 24 - 3:26 PM

Derrick Favors (left knee bone contusion) has been ruled out of Wednesday's game vs. the Knicks.

Favors has not played since March 6th and is considered out indefinitely. There is a chance he returns before the end of the regular season, but he will be on a minutes restriction if/when he does. This time of year, when roster spots are so valuable, he belongs on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues without an IR spot.
Mar 22 - 11:44 AM

Derrick Favors (knee) will not play on Monday vs. the Pacers.

He's out indefinitely, but maybe he returns to the lineup later this month. Even if he does, most fantasy owners will want to steer clear of the oft-injured big man. The Jazz will likely continue to play more small ball with Joe Johnson getting more run, but Joe Ingles is likely the best player in Utah that's available on your wire right now.
Mar 20 - 12:03 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) is out again for Saturday against the Bulls.

He's basically out indefinitely and can be dropped in most leagues. The Jazz have liked their small-ball lineup and will likely use it again against the Bulls. That should help Joe Johnson and Joe Ingles, especially if a questionable Rodney Hood can't play.
Mar 17 - 6:17 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) and Rondey Hood (knee) have both been ruled out of Thursday's game vs. Cleveland.

He's scheduled to be re-evaluated in a few days, but his fantasy owners should just move on at this point. With Favors out, the Jazz have been playing a lot of small ball and Joe Ingles and Joe Johnson have been the biggest winners. Daily Slant: With Favors, Hood and Mack off the floor this year, Gordon Hayward sports at 31.0% usage rate, a +1.8% bump from his season total, with George Hill picking up a slightly bigger bump (+1.9%). Both Hayward and Hill are viable targets against the Cavs, with Joe Johnson and Joe Ingles picking up between 25-30 minutes in relief of Hood and Favors. Neither carry terribly high ceilings, but Ingles is the better bet to see bigger minutes and given the short slate, he's playable in any format.
Mar 16 - 1:56 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) will be re-evaluated in a few days.

He has been out this week with a bone contusion on his left knee, and the knee issues continue to pile up for Favors. It's looking like a lost season for Favors and his fantasy owners will probably want to look at other options right now. Coach Quin Snyder will play the matchups while he's out, but Joe Johnson and Joe Ingles should benefit.
Mar 15 - 7:13 PM

Derrick Favors (left knee bone bruise) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Clippers.

Favors is going to be watching from the sidelines until he's re-evaluated some time "later in the week," so it sounds like he's in serious danger of missing Utah's upcoming back-to-back set. Favors just never really got going this season, operating at a 14th round evaluation with averages of 9.6 points, 6.2 boards and not much else, and with an uncertain return date, it may be best to just move on in standard leagues. Joe Johnson, Boris Diaw and Trey Lyles will pick up the slack in his absence.
Mar 13 - 2:39 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) was examined Saturday and an MRI determined he is dealing with a bone contusion of the left knee.

It's uncertain how long Favors will be on the shelf, but he will continue to receive treatment and will be re-evaluated later this week. All fantasy owners in seasonal weekly leagues will want him reserved. With Favors on the shelf Joe Johnson will likely pick up most of the slack with Boris Diaw and Jeff Withey fighting for scraps off the bench.
Mar 12 - 10:31 PM

Derrick Favors (knee soreness) will not play Saturday vs. the Thunder.

Favors sat out Wednesday's game, yet is still not able to play despite having three days to rest. It is becoming harder to hold onto Favors in deeper leagues due to the uncertainty surrounding his knee issues. Joe Johnson ended up starting on Wednesday in place of Favors and will draw another start on Saturday. Boris Diaw and Jeff Withey will likely see additional playing time off the bench as well.
Mar 11 - 1:39 PM

George Hill (toe) and Derrick Favors (knee) are questionable against Oklahoma City on Saturday night.

Favors just isn't healthy right now and the Jazz trainers are likely going to extra careful based on Favors' comments. In case you missed it, Favors replied on Twitter to a comment about him being blocked at the rim so much and said he's playing on one leg. If he's out again, the Jazz could go small with Joe Johnson again. There isn't much of a pickup to make here because he's only questionable.
Mar 10 - 2:49 PM

Derrick Favors (knee soreness) will not play on Wednesday vs. the Rockets.

Here we go again. The Jazz don't play again until Saturday vs. the Thunder, so hopefully he'll be ready to go by then. Favors hasn't been able to stay healthy all season and posted on Twitter that he feels like he's playing on one leg. With Favors out, Boris Diaw and Trey Lyles could split his minutes, but they haven't produced all season.
Mar 7 - 8:49 PM

Derrick Favors scored seven points with five rebounds, one assist and one steal vs. the Pelicans on Monday.

He played 33 minutes, but he shot just 3-of-10 from the field for his second dud in a row. Favors posted on Twitter that he feels like he's playing on one leg, so that basically confirms that he's still not completely over his knee issue. He's worth owning, but it's going to be a bumpy ride.
Mar 7 - 1:27 AM

Derrick Favors posted just nine points with two rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes on Sunday against the Kings.

Favors appeared to be turning a corner, averaging 14.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in his first two games in March. He appeared to have an ultra-favorable matchup against a Kings team mailing it in down the stretch, but Rudy Gobert was a giant in the middle gobbling up rebounds and Rodney Hood and Gordon Hayward were the primary scoring options. Favors was just along for the ride, much to the dismay of his fantasy owners.
