Derrick Favors hit 7-of-12 shots for 17 points with six rebounds and one assist in 31 minutes against the Magic on Saturday.
Favors played big minutes on the second game of a back-to-back, but he only played 27 minutes in yesterday’s blowout win against the Pistons. This was the second time since returning from injury that he plays at least 30 minutes. The increase in minutes is a big positive, so he's trending up. Jan 15 - 12:33 AM

Derrick Favors scored nine points on 4-of-10 shooting vs. the Pistons on Friday.

While he didn't play well, it was still encouraging to see Favors log 27 minutes in the blowout. He added eight rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal, but his owners are going to have to be patient with him as he works his way back into shape. Don't be surprised if the Jazz limit his minutes on Saturday vs. Orlando on the second night of a back-to-back set.
Jan 14 - 2:13 AM

Derrick Favors hit 5-of-10 shots for 12 points, five rebounds, a steal and a block in 25 minutes of Tuesday's 100-92 win over the Cavs.

Favors is back and looks decent on the court, but the fantasy goods just aren't there right now. He's averaging 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals on 47 percent shooting in 28 minutes over his last five games. He's worth owning in case he ever returns to form, but there's a chance his sore knees will be an issue all season long.
Jan 10 - 11:51 PM

Derrick Favors followed up Saturday's impressive game with just four points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and three turnovers in 25 minutes vs. the Grizzlies on Sunday.

Favors had 15 points, six boards, three steals and two blocks in 34 minutes last night, a terrific sight for his patient fantasy owners. The Grizzlies allow the third-fewest points to opposing frontcourts, behind only the Spurs and the Jazz themselves, and their next two opponents (the Cavs and Pistons) are also among the bottom eight in points allowed to PFs and Cs. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
Jan 8 - 11:02 PM

Derrick Favors turned in his best game of the season in a win over the Wolves on Saturday, scoring 15 points with six rebounds, one assist, three steals, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 34 minutes.

There he is. That's the most minutes he's played since Nov. 11 and he also attempted two treys for the first time this season for his his second made three of his career, as well. The Jazz may still be careful with Favors in back-to-back sets, but anyone who bought low coming into this one should feel good. As long as he stays healthy, he should be ready to roll.
Jan 7 - 11:40 PM

Derrick Favors scored nine points with eight rebounds, one assist and one steal in 26 minutes against the Raptors on Thursday.

We're still waiting for the performance side of things to fall into place for Favors, but at least he's played 27.5 minutes per game over his last two. Favors has actually made a respectable 40.0 percent on jumpers in his last 10, but somehow made just 33.3 percent on layups. He is still a buy-low guy because he's usually a strong finisher around the basket.
Jan 5 - 10:29 PM

Derrick Favors scored 12 points in 29 minutes in Tuesday's 115-99 loss to the Celtics on Tuesday.

Incredibly, this was his first game with double-digit points since Nov. 11 and this was also the first time he reached 29 minutes since that same game. Favors finished 5-of-10 from the field and added six rebounds and seven assists, and this performance confirms that the Jazz took it easy on him on Monday vs. Brooklyn when he only logged 18 minutes and was benched to start the second half. He finally looked healthy tonight and the buy-low window is wide open if you don't mind some risk.
Jan 3 - 10:14 PM

Derrick Favors scored six points on 3-of-7 shooting in 18 minutes on Monday vs. the Nets with three rebounds.

Favors looked shocking in the first half and was benched in favor of Boris Diaw to open the third quarter, but he did check back in late in the game and looked a little better. Overall, Favors didn't look healthy tonight, but it sounds like they reduced his minutes so that he can play against the Celtics on Tuesday on the second night of a back-to-back set. Whatever the case, Favors is going to be tough to rely on as he works his way back into shape. His owners just need to hold onto him and hope for the best.
Jan 2 - 10:37 PM

Derrick Favors scored nine points with eight rebounds, three assists and one block in 24 minutes against the Suns on Saturday.

He played 25 minutes on Thursday and it looks like the minutes limit is starting to go by the wayside. Favors has not really performed to expectations in those two with only a four-point, 12-board game coming in a favorable matchup vs. Philly. He is still a buy-low player.
Sat, Dec 31, 2016 11:29:00 PM

Derrick Favors hit 1-of-7 shots for four points, with 12 rebounds and one block in 24 minutes on Thursday night against the 76ers.

The 24 minutes marked the most Favors has played since Nov. 11. He has now played at least 22 minutes in consecutive games and it appears the Jazz will start increasing his minutes. Despite the minutes restrictions, Favors is still a good source of boards and blocks.

Derrick Favors played 22 minutes and hit 2-of-5 shots for eight points, six rebounds and a steal in a start for the Jazz in Tuesday's 102-100 win over the Lakers.

Favors has graced us with his presence in three straight games and actually started tonight. The 22 minutes were the most he's played in a game since he played 36 minutes on Nov. 11. Maybe he's ready to start playing heavy minutes and producing, but we'll have to see how his body reacts to tonight's game. The Jazz are off until Thursday night when they play the Sixers, and Favors looks like a good buy-low candidate in case he's actually able to shake off the knee injury and play well over the second half. But he's a shaky fantasy starter until he proves he's healthy and can handle at least 25 minutes a game.

Derrick Favors will move into the starting lineup on Tuesday vs. the Lakers.

He will replace Boris Diaw. The Jazz are slowly increasing Favors' playing time and his move back into the starting lineup will only speed things up. His fantasy owners will have to be patient as he gets his legs back under him, as he hasn't played more than 16 minutes since his return. Hopefully that changes tonight and we'll let you know how he looks after the game.

Derrick Favors (left knee) remains on a "slowly-increasing minutes restriction" as he works his way back into form.

The Jazz is going to handle Favors with kid gloves with the issues he's had with his knee to date this season, so expect Utah to take the long road here. Fantasy GMs have no option but to simply wait out the process.

Derrick Favors scored six points in 15 minutes against the Raptors on Friday with seven rebounds and one block.

Clearly he still has a minutes limit and there's no signs of the Jazz lifting it any time soon. Favors is off until Tuesday night, so maybe all that time off can get him to 20 minutes. Even with the hard cap, he's still worth owning in all leagues.
Sat, Dec 24, 2016 12:49:00 AM

Derrick Favors returned from a rest day to score four points on 2-of-6 shooting vs. the Kings, adding four rebounds, one steal and one block in 16 minutes.

Favors returned too quickly once this season, so Utah is being extra cautious with their 25-year-old big man. He averaged just 13.7 minutes in his first three games back and it looks like he's on a 15-20 minute limit for the near future. His owners should just stay patient -- the Jazz are the No. 6 seed in the West and they should be eager to get him rolling as the season progresses.
