Derrick Favors (knee) won't play vs. the Heat on Thursday and he has yet to resume practicing.
The fact that Favors was ruled out a day in advance suggests that he's not close to a return, but Utah has offered no details about his timetable. Boris Diaw is starting at PF but Trey Lyles continues to be the primary beneficiary, and Rudy Gobert has also seen his numbers improve with Favors on the sidelines. Nov 30 - 8:39 PM

Derrick Favors (left knee) did not travel with the team to Minnesota for Monday's game against the Timberwolves.

Utah tends to be clandestine with the injuries to their players, and so far the only real update we've had is that he'll be out for "a while." He's obviously going to miss Monday's game, and there's just not enough information out there to make an accurate assessment as to when he'll be back. Boris Diaw should continue to start in his absence, but Trey Lyles will be the primary beneficiary.
Nov 27 - 5:51 PM

Derrick Favors (left knee) will be out "a while", according to head coach Quin Snyder.

Favors is dealing with a bone contusion on his left knee and it sounds like he'll miss at least a few more games. Boris Diaw and Trey Lyles will continue to pick up the slack for the big man, with Trey Lyles being the better speculative add in standard leagues, regardless of who starts.
Nov 17 - 1:20 PM

An MRI revealed a bone contusion on Derrick Favors' left knee, and it's currently unclear when he'll be able to return to the court.

He'll miss Thursday's game against the Bulls, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss more than a few games as he's been dealing with issues to his left knee since early October. Trey Lyles and Boris Diaw will pick up the slack in his absence, with Lyles (who is coming off an 18-point game) being the guy you want to pickup in standard leagues.

Derrick Favors (knee) will not play against the Bulls on Thursday.

He did not look right on Monday and did not return to action. Favors has been dealing with his knee issue since early October and it's kept him down to 24.0 minutes per game in his 11 outings this season. Trey Lyles is coming off an 18-point Monday and should be a bigger factor off the bench. Boris Diaw should be picking up some minutes, as well.
Nov 16 - 2:19 PM

Derrick Favors (left knee soreness) will not return to Monday's game vs. Memphis.

This is very concerning. Favors didn't look right at all out there and Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune said he wouldn't be surprised if the Jazz shut him down for a few weeks. Based on how he looked tonight, that's probably the right call. Trey Lyles is having the best game of his season and is worth a long look as a speculative pickup. Favors finished with six points on 2-of-6 shooting with two rebounds and two steals in 21 minutes.
Nov 14 - 11:21 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) will play on Monday vs. the Grizzlies.

This is a huge relief for the Jazz and for fantasy owners after Favors left Saturday's game with left knee soreness and did not return. He made it through the morning shootaround and we haven't heard of any restrictions yet, so season-long owners can activate him in their lineups.
Nov 14 - 8:02 PM

Derrick Favors (left knee soreness) is a true game-time decision vs. the Grizzlies on Monday.

He went through the morning shootaround and will now test his knee in pre-game warmups. The fact that he even has a chance to play is a good sign, but luckily for the Jazz they will have Boris Diaw (leg) available to play Monday. Trey Lyles and Diaw could end up splitting the PF minutes if Favors sits.
Nov 14 - 7:19 PM

Derrick Favors (knee), George Hill (thumb) and Boris Diaw (leg) all participated in the morning shootaround.

This is a good sign, but it's not much of an update because all three players are still listed as questionable. This means they will likely be game-time calls along with Rodney Hood (illness).
Nov 14 - 1:23 PM

Derrick Favors (knee) is questionable for Monday's game vs. the Grizzlies.

He's dealing with left knee soreness, the same knee that held him out for most of October. We should get an update after shootaround, but there's a good chance that the Jazz will be cautious here. Trey Lyles should benefit the most if Favors misses time, while Boris Diaw (leg) has been upgraded to questionable and could return to the rotation.
Nov 14 - 10:50 AM

Derrick Favors is dealing with left knee soreness and will not return on Saturday.

Not good. This is the same left knee that kept him out for most of October. The Jazz were just starting to let him loose and he's looked awesome since the George Hill (thumb) injury. Chances are he's going to have to miss time here. With Boris Diaw (leg) also out, we'll see plenty of Trey Lyles and a lot of small-ball.
Nov 12 - 8:40 PM

Derrick Favors scored 18 points with nine rebounds, one assist, three steals, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes against the Magic on Friday.

And we're off. Favors has seen his minutes go up in each of his last three: 27, 29, 35 and 36. He has really expanded his range and made his first trey of the year with 39 percent of his shot total coming from beyond the paint. If his knees hold up, Favors could get really hot and be a steal for those who drafted him while he was hurt.
Nov 11 - 11:53 PM

Derrick Favors had another strong game on Wednesday with 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting, 10 rebounds and two blocks in 35 minutes.

Favors hadn't played 30 minutes in a game this season, and tonight's activity suggests he's no longer facing a strict minute-limit. He's scored at least 13 points in three straight contests, and is coming off a strong 16 & 14 game with three blocks, so it's safe to say he's found his rhythm.
Nov 9 - 9:50 PM

Derrick Favors bounced back on Monday, torching the Sixers for 16 points, 14 rebounds, a steal and three blocks on 6-of-11 shooting in 29 minutes.

He hit just 4-of-8 free throws, but this was easily his best game of the season. The points, boards and blocks were all season highs and this could be a sign that his knee is feeling better. He might have been dropped in some daily lineup leagues after he scored eight or fewer points in four straight games, but he's ballin' right now, averaging 14.5 points, 10 rebounds and 1.5 blocks over his last two games.
Nov 7 - 10:11 PM

Derrick Favors didn't do much during his 27 minutes of action on Sunday, hitting 6-of-10 shots on his way to 13 points, six boards and two turnovers.

Utah continues to bring Favors along slowly, and the general lack of production implies that he’s still not quite 100 percent recovered from the knee issues. He should be able to eventually turn things around, so the buy-low window is open, although it does come with risk as knee issues for big men are nothing to shrug at. Trey Lyles was quiet off the bench, going just 2-of-6 from the field and ending his day with five points, two boards, one triple, one block and one assist in 21 minutes.
