Luke Babbitt made three 3-pointers and scored 10 points in Tuesday's road loss in Indiana, adding two rebounds and one assist in 21 minutes.
Babbitt hasn't done much of note since joining New Orleans' starting lineup, averaging just 6.0 points, 1.8 threes, 2.6 rebounds and 0.3 steals in 19 minutes per game. His starting role has a shelf-life with Eric Gordon (shoulder) on the path to recovery, which is all the more reason to leave Babbitt adrift on the waiver wire. Dec 23 - 10:20 PM

Date:

Luke Babbitt played just 14 minutes in another start on Sunday, but only hit one 3-pointer and failed to register any other stats on the night.

Eric Gordon's (shoulder) return is looming, so if Babbitt isn't even an asset while he is starting than this news confirms that he shouldn't be owned in almost any league.
Dec 21 - 10:15 PM

Luke Babitt defended LeBron James for most of Friday's game in his 30 minutes and lived to tell about it, finishing with six points, five boards, two steals and two 3-pointers.

His minutes are starting to see a slight increase, but tonight had a lot to do with Anthony Davis (chest) not playing in the second half. His coach probably gained some confidence in him, but Babbitt is still only a speculative add in deep leagues with Davis up in the air.
Dec 13 - 2:12 AM

Luke Babbitt (sprained left knee) started Tuesday's game and scored six points with two 3-pointers in 19 minutes of court time.

The starting SF job is Babbitt's to lose while Eric Gordon (shoulder) is out, though Gordon is aiming to return in 3-4 weeks. Babbitt chipped in one rebound, one block and one turnover on Tuesday, and his fantasy value is too limited for use in standard leagues.
Dec 9 - 11:06 PM

Luke Babbitt (knee) will play in Tuesday's game vs. the Knicks.

Although he has recently won a starting spot in the rotation for the Pelicans, Babbitt should only be considered for owners desperate for 3-pointers. Standard league owners can more than likely do better.
Dec 9 - 7:59 PM

Luke Babbitt (left knee sprain) has been upgraded to probable for Tuesday's game vs. the Knicks.

Babbitt is currently starting for the Pelicans, but he really doesn't offer much to fantasy squads aside from his 3-point shooting. Through four games with the starting unit, Babbitt is averaging 7.3 points, 2.3 three-pointers, and not much else making him a deep league asset at best. Standard league owners can continue to ignore Babbitt on the waiver wire.
Dec 9 - 2:53 PM

Luke Babbitt (left knee sprain) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Knicks.

Babbitt sprained his knee during Sunday's win over the Lakers and looks headed towards a game-time decision for Tuesday night. Dante Cunningham and John Salmons would be the biggest minutes beneficiaries if Babbitt is unable to suit up, but neither holds much fantasy value.

Dec 9 - 12:44 PM

Luke Babbitt (left knee sprain) is doubtful to return to Sunday's game vs. the Lakers.

The Pelicans led comfortably when Babbitt left, so ideally his absence is a precaution, but we'll update his status once the Pelicans provide an update. He finished Sunday's game with six points and five rebounds in 20 minutes, and if he misses any time the biggest beneficiaries will be Dante Cunningham and John Salmons.
Dec 7 - 11:27 PM

Luke Babbitt made four triples for his 12 points against the Clippers on Saturday.

He added three rebounds and three fouls. Babbitt is not very useful at really anything except shooting, but the Pelicans need that in a big way. Excluding Babbitt, they made just 4-of-18 from deep tonight. Babbitt is on the radar as deep-league specialist.
Dec 7 - 12:53 AM

Luke Babbitt played 19 minutes against the Warriors on Thursday during a 112-85 loss with five points, three rebounds and one 3-pointer.

The Pelicans absolutely need a shooter in their first unit and it would appear Babbitt is the best option. He's still not going to get minutes much higher than 20 and there's no reason to give him many shots while Anthony Davis is on the floor. He's only worth a look in extremely deep leagues.
Dec 5 - 1:19 AM

Luke Babbitt moved into the Pelicans' starting lineup at SF on Tuesday, notching six points, two rebounds and one block in 15 minutes before returning to the bench for the second half.

Austin Rivers had been dreadful while starting in place of Eric Gordon (shoulder), so coach Monty Williams finally pulled the plug and gave Babbitt a chance. He racked up four fouls in the first half, which may have been the cause of his second-half benching, but we'll update his status once coach Monty Williams reveals his thinking. Ryan Anderson took his place at SF as part of a big starting unit in the second half.
Dec 2 - 11:31 PM

Luke Babbitt will enter the starting lineup on Tuesday at small forward as the Pelicans take on the Thunder.

This is an interesting move as Babbitt has struggled to get into games this season. Tyreke Evans will likely slide over to SG, and Austin Rivers will head back to the bench. However, this news probably has the largest impact on Kevin Durant owners, as he'll be able to do whatever he wants against the defensively challenged Babbitt. Owners in standard leagues shouldn't be too excited about Babbitt entering the starting lineup as he boasts career-averages of 4.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Luke Babbitt (finger) is probable for Wednesday's game against the Lakers after he was able to practice on Tuesday.

He wasn't able to suit up for Monday's game and he will provide the Pelicans with some depth at both forward positions. However, his role will likely be minimal and he won't be worth your attention in almost all leagues.
Nov 12 - 12:01 PM

Luke Babbitt (finger) will not play on Monday.

He has his finger wrapped from a sprain and it's not clear how much time he'll miss. Babbitt has no fantasy value right now.
Nov 10 - 7:17 PM

Luke Babbitt (finger) is out for Saturday's game against the Spurs.

He has only averaged 6.5 minutes per game so this news shouldn't matter to your fantasy team. You can ignore Babbitt in almost all leagues. In the meantime, expect John Salmons to pick up a few extra minutes, but not enough to matter in standard leagues.
