Luke Babbitt (back) and Mike Muscala (ankle) are questionable for Saturday's game against the Celtics.
Babbitt suffered back spasms on Wednesday and did not return. It's also worth a mention he did have back spasms in March, so perhaps the Hawks are extra careful with him. If he's out, the Hawks may wind up shifting Taurean Prince over to the four to allow DeAndre Bembry to play in his return. Tyler Cavanaugh could also be in the rotation after he started the second half on Wednesday. Nov 17 - 4:50 PM

Luke Babbitt (back spasms) will not return to Wednesday's game against the Kings.

Tyler Cavanaugh started the second half for the injured Babbitt. He went to the locker room in the first half, but he did return to action after that. Babbitt did check back into the game, but apparently he didn't feel well enough to continue. With him out, the Hawks may have to play Kent Bazemore at the four more, up Ersan Ilyasova's minutes, or shift John Collins over to power forward more often.
Nov 15 - 8:50 PM

Luke Babbitt started again for the Hawks and hit 4-of-11 shots (all 3-pointers) for 12 points, three rebounds and one assist in 30 minutes of Monday's one-point loss to the Pelicans.

Babbitt has been starting for a little more than a week now and is averaging 10.8 points 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.4 blocks and 2.6 3-pointers on 46 percent shooting in those five games. He's been up and down like a yo-yo, but is getting 31 minutes a night, shooting the ball well and knocking down threes. He's worth a look in standard leagues as long as he's starting for the Hawks.
Nov 13 - 10:23 PM

Luke Babbitt scored five points with six rebounds, two assists and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes against the Wizards on Saturday.

The Hawks actually had to use Babbitt at the five because of John Collins getting into some foul trouble. Babbitt continues to see minutes around 30 with Ersan Ilyasova (knee) and Mike Muscala (ankle) out, so he does have some short-term upside in deeper leagues or as a streamer.
Nov 11 - 9:29 PM

Luke Babbitt will remain in the starting five for Monday's game against the Celtics with both Mike Muscala (ankle) and Ersan Ilyasova (knee) unavailable.

Babbitt logged a career-high 42 minutes in a start on Sunday, posting 17 points, four triples, three boards, two assists, one steal and one block, so he could be someone to consider as a dart throw in DFS tonight. Joining Babbitt in the starting five will be Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Taurean Prince and Dewayne Dedmon.

Luke Babbitt shined as a starter during Sunday's win over Cleveland, finishing with 17 points, four 3-pointers, three rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and zero turnovers in 42 minutes.

Babbitt caught fire from beyond the arc in this one, and did a great job of taking advantage of some of Cleveland’s lapses on the defensive end. The minutes were a career-high and he should have some low-end value as a 3-point specialist in deep leagues while Ersan Ilyasova (knee) and Mike Muscala (ankle) are out. Still, we'd like to see him do this again before recommending him as an add in standard 12-team settings.
Nov 5 - 6:13 PM

Luke Babbitt will move into the starting lineup on Sunday vs. the Cavaliers.

The Hawks are missing Mike Muscala (ankle) and Ersan Ilyasova (knee), but Babbitt is only worth a look if you need to stream some 3-pointers. Babbitt will join Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Taurean Prince and Dewayne Dedmon in the first unit.
Nov 5 - 1:40 PM

Luke Babbitt briefly exited Sunday's game with a knee injury, but he returned to post six points, two assists and a pair of 3-pointers vs. his former team.

The veteran banged knees in the third quarter but his speedy return confirms that he's fine, as the training staff wouldn't take any risks in a preseason game. He's nothing more than a 3-point specialist in deep leagues.
Oct 1 - 8:50 PM

Luke Babbitt has agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

Babbitt started 55 games for the Heat last season but logged less than 16 minutes a night and posted pedestrian averages of 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists. The one fantasy-friendly skill Babbitt does bring to the table is 3-point shooting. He averaged 1.3 treys per game last season and is a career 40.6 percent shooter from deep. The Hawks have limited depth at both forward spots, so Babbitt may see decent playing time. However, he will likely only have fantasy appeal for owners in deep leagues that are desperate for 3-pointers.
Aug 4 - 1:31 PM

Pat Riley said he's been in contact with Luke Babbitt's agent.

"We’ve made contact with Luke’s agent," Riley said. "That’s a thought process we’re going to go through. We really like Luke and he can shoot the ball, so, it’s still open there." Despite starting 55 games for Miami last season, Babbitt was only able to muster up averages of 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 triples per contest on 40.2 percent shooting. Maybe he'll be able to snag a deal for the veteran's minimum, but he'll be a non-factor in fantasy hoops, regardless of his jersey.
Jul 19 - 12:09 PM

Re-signing Luke Babbitt likely won't be a priority for the Heat this summer according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

No surprise here, as the Heat are going to prioritize re-signing James Johnson and Dion Waiters. Babbitt averaged 4.8 points and 2.1 rebounds for the Heat in 15.7 minutes per game, but he did shoot 41.4 percent from 3-point range which helped space the floor. If any team offers him more than the minimum, Winderman believes that the Heat will let him walk.
May 15 - 10:10 AM

Luke Babbitt (hip) didn't play vs. the Wizards on Wednesday.

It was James Johnson monopolizing the PF position tonight, posting 12 points, eight assists and eight rebounds, as Miami tried in vain to salvage a playoff spot. It will be interesting to see how much interest Babbitt attracts as an unrestricted free agent. No matter where he lands, he's nothing more than a perimeter specialist.
Apr 12 - 11:16 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) is available to play against the Wizards on Wednesday.

With the Heat needing this game, coach Erik Spoelstra will likely lean heavily on James Johnson and may not even look to Babbitt.
Apr 12 - 6:26 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) and Josh McRoberts (foot) are not being listed on the injury report for Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Wizards.

There's a chance these guys could get out there for some limited minutes on Wednesday, but they won't be receiving enough minutes to make a difference in fantasy hoops. If Babbitt is cleared, it'll be interesting to see if head coach Erik Spoesltra sticks with James Johnson as his starting power forward. Stay tuned.
Apr 11 - 4:30 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) and Josh McRoberts (foot) will not play on Monday vs. the Cavs.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra said that they will be in uniform, but they assuredly won't take the court tonight. That means that James Johnson will again be forced into heavy minutes as Miami's starting power forward, and he's certainly on the DFS radar tonight.
