Luke Babbitt has agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks.
Babbitt started 55 games for the Heat last season but logged less than 16 minutes a night and posted pedestrian averages of 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists. The one fantasy-friendly skill Babbitt does bring to the table is 3-point shooting. He averaged 1.3 treys per game last season and is a career 40.6 percent shooter from deep. The Hawks have limited depth at both forward spots, so Babbitt may see decent playing time. However, he will likely only have fantasy appeal for owners in deep leagues that are desperate for 3-pointers. Aug 4 - 1:31 PM

Pat Riley said he's been in contact with Luke Babbitt's agent.

"We’ve made contact with Luke’s agent," Riley said. "That’s a thought process we’re going to go through. We really like Luke and he can shoot the ball, so, it’s still open there." Despite starting 55 games for Miami last season, Babbitt was only able to muster up averages of 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 triples per contest on 40.2 percent shooting. Maybe he'll be able to snag a deal for the veteran's minimum, but he'll be a non-factor in fantasy hoops, regardless of his jersey.

Re-signing Luke Babbitt likely won't be a priority for the Heat this summer according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

No surprise here, as the Heat are going to prioritize re-signing James Johnson and Dion Waiters. Babbitt averaged 4.8 points and 2.1 rebounds for the Heat in 15.7 minutes per game, but he did shoot 41.4 percent from 3-point range which helped space the floor. If any team offers him more than the minimum, Winderman believes that the Heat will let him walk.

Luke Babbitt (hip) didn't play vs. the Wizards on Wednesday.

It was James Johnson monopolizing the PF position tonight, posting 12 points, eight assists and eight rebounds, as Miami tried in vain to salvage a playoff spot. It will be interesting to see how much interest Babbitt attracts as an unrestricted free agent. No matter where he lands, he's nothing more than a perimeter specialist.
Apr 12 - 11:16 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) is available to play against the Wizards on Wednesday.

With the Heat needing this game, coach Erik Spoelstra will likely lean heavily on James Johnson and may not even look to Babbitt.
Apr 12 - 6:26 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) and Josh McRoberts (foot) are not being listed on the injury report for Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Wizards.

There's a chance these guys could get out there for some limited minutes on Wednesday, but they won't be receiving enough minutes to make a difference in fantasy hoops. If Babbitt is cleared, it'll be interesting to see if head coach Erik Spoesltra sticks with James Johnson as his starting power forward. Stay tuned.
Apr 11 - 4:30 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) and Josh McRoberts (foot) will not play on Monday vs. the Cavs.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra said that they will be in uniform, but they assuredly won't take the court tonight. That means that James Johnson will again be forced into heavy minutes as Miami's starting power forward, and he's certainly on the DFS radar tonight.
Apr 10 - 5:58 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) is questionable for Monday's game vs. the Cavaliers.

The Heat are facing two must-win games this week, so there's a good chance that they will keep rolling with James Johnson in the first unit even if Babbitt is good to go. Leave the sharpshooter on the wire.
Apr 9 - 11:33 AM

Luke Babbitt (hip) will not play against the Wizards on Saturday.

Pull your black belts out with James Johnson getting another start. Babbitt may not play again this season.
Apr 8 - 5:36 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) will not play against the Raptors on Friday and James Johnson will get another start.

The Heat will roll with the same starting lineup as Wednesday. Johnson went off with 26 points in his only start on Wednesday, so his fantasy owners will have some high hopes today. Babbitt is questionable to play again this regular season.
Apr 7 - 6:05 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) has been downgraded to doubtful for Friday's game vs. Toronto.

Babbitt being sidelined is good news for James Johnson owners. Johnson played over 32 minutes on Wednesday and stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 26 points, four boards, three assists, two steals and six treys. Babbitt belongs on waivers in all leagues.
Apr 7 - 11:39 AM

Luke Babbitt (hip) is listed as questionable for Friday's game vs. the Raptors.

James Johnson went off for 26 points, four boards, three assists, two steals and six triples on 10-of-12 shooting in his absence on Wednesday, so he's clearly the big winner if Babbitt misses another game. Leave Babbitt on the wire regardless of his status.
Apr 6 - 12:38 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) will not play Wednesday vs. the Hornets.

He didn't go through shootaround and was listed as doubtful, so no surprises here. James Johnson will draw the start in his place, so he should be able to eclipse the 30-minute mark tonight. For now, we'll consider Babbitt questionable for Friday's game in Toronto, but he's not worth owning anywhere.
Apr 5 - 6:27 PM

Coach Erik Spoelstra said Luke Babbitt (hip) is unlikely to play against the Hornets on Wednesday.

He did not go through shootaround and looks like the Heat will have a new starting lineup. James Johnson is probably going to stay in the second unit, so Okaro White may be getting the nod. Johnson should still be all set as a strong option in DFS and in all leagues while White is a risky option with lower upside.
Apr 5 - 5:35 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) did not go through shootaround and he remains questionable to play Wednesday vs. Charlotte.

Babbitt injured his hip on Sunday and wasn't able to practice on Tuesday, so after sitting out shootaround, his odds of suiting up for tonight's game aren't looking great. If Babbitt is forced to the sidelines, we could see Okaro White or Udonis Haslem draw the start, but that won't mean much considering Babbitt was only averaging 16.9 minutes per game as a starter this season.
