Luke Babbitt (strained right hip flexor) will not play Wednesday vs. the Hawks.
Miami will again be without Dion Waiters (groin), Justise Winslow (wrist), James Johnson (rotator cuff) and Josh Richardson (ankle, wrist), so Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside should again dominate the offensive possessions with Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington also seeing some increased opportunity. Babbitt is not traveling with the team, so he'll miss Friday and Saturday's game as well. Dec 7 - 12:00 PM

Date:

Luke Babbitt (hip) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Knicks.

Dion Waiters (groin), Justise Winslow (wrist), James Johnson (rotator cuff) and Josh Richardson (ankle, wrist) will join Babbitt on the sidelines on Tuesday, leaving Miami with just nine healthy players for tonight's game. Goran Dragic, Tyler Johnson and Hassan Whiteside will dominate the offensive possessions tonight, and guys like Derrick Williams and Rodney McGruder are viable punt play options in DFS.

Luke Babbitt (hip) is questionable for Tuesday's game vs. the Knicks.

He made it through a limited practice on Monday, so his injury may not be as bad as initially believed. James Johnson (shoulder) is the newest addition to the injury report and will not play, so Babbitt could see plenty of minutes if he's available. Even if he does play, he won't be a great fantasy option.
Dec 5 - 1:44 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) is not expected to play and is only available for emergency situations against the Blazers on Saturday.

In other words, he's out. Babbitt could miss two weeks due to his hip injury from Thursday night. He also may not have many minutes available once he's back with James Johnson outplaying him and it's possible Justise Winslow (wrist) is back. For tonight, Johnson, Derrick Williams and Wayne Ellington should get some additional run.
Dec 3 - 2:43 PM

Luke Babbitt (hip) is questionable for Saturday's game vs. the Blazers.

Coach Erik Spoelstra isn't expecting him to play, so he's probably closer to doubtful. Derrick Williams (back) is also questionable, so we should see a lot of James Johnson and Josh McRoberts.
Dec 2 - 10:01 PM

Luke Babbitt is dealing with a hip-flexor strain but did fly to Portland and expected to remain with the team until their Sunday flight back to Miami.

Babbit left Thursday’s game with 4:07 left in the second quarter and did not return. Coach Spoelstra said Babbitt's injury is similar to the one that will have Dion Waiters out for at least two weeks. "Probably a little bit similar to Dion," he acknowledged after Thursday night's game. "We'll find out more. But it's a hip-flexor strain. It's not a contusion. So we'll evaluate him." Wayne Ellington started the second half in place of Babbitt, and would see an increase in minutes if Babbitt misses time.
Dec 2 - 10:21 AM

Luke Babbit will miss the remainder of Thursday’s game against the Jazz with a hip flexor.

Babbit left Thursday’s game with 4:07 left in the half and will not return. If he misses an extensive amount of time, Wayne Ellington and James Johnson, who have been hot, should see an increased role, while Derrick Williams could also get back into the rotation.
Dec 1 - 10:20 PM

Luke Babbit left Thursday’s game against the Jazz with 4:07 left in the half due to back tightness.

Babbit headed to the locker room after tweaking his back and is questionable to return. He played seven minutes, scoring one point and one steal.
Dec 1 - 9:57 PM

Luke Babbitt started over Josh Richardson on Monday but hit just 2-of-7 shots for four points, two rebounds, one assist and a steal in 23 minutes.

Things were looking up for Richardson with Dion Waiters out tonight, but the move to the bench didn't do him any favors. As for Babbitt, he's failed to answer the call every time he's gotten an opportunity this season, so there's no reason to think about adding him in fantasy leagues.
Nov 28 - 10:53 PM

Luke Babbitt will move into the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Celtics, sending Josh Richardson to the bench.

Erik Spoelstra will role out a starting five of Goran Dragic, Rodney McGruder, Babbitt, Derrick Williams and Hassan Whiteside (knee) for Monday's game, and while Richardson will be coming off the bench, it's tough to envision a scenario where he doesn't exceed 30 minutes. Spoelstra is likely just bringing him off the bench to help infuse some offense into the second unit, so while Babbitt will start, Richardson remains the preferable fantasy target.

Luke Babbitt will come off the bench on Monday vs. the Spurs.

He was benched at the half of Saturday's game, so Derrick Williams is going to get a chance to impress moving forward. Babbitt is not a fantasy asset.
Nov 14 - 7:58 PM

Luke Babbitt did not start the second half and played five total minutes on Saturday, finishing with zero points, one rebound and no turnovers.

He might be moving out of the starting lineup for good and possibly out of the rotation. Silly Babbitt.
Nov 13 - 12:30 AM

Luke Babbitt started again on Monday and hit 4-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for 11 points, four rebounds and a steal in a loss to the Thunder.

Babbitt has scored in double digits in two of his last three games, but isn't doing a whole lot more. He's averaging just 7.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 0.4 steals and 1.8 3-pointers over his last five games, so just keep an eye on him in case he gets hot while starting for the Heat.
Nov 7 - 10:43 PM

Heat head coack Erik Spoelstra said he wants Luke Babbitt to shoot more.

Spoelstra said he was disappointed that Babbitt didn't shoot 10 three-pointers on Tuesday (Babbitt attempted six) and wants the 27-year-old shooting more. While Babbitt doesn't have much fantasy value, he could be worth a look for three-pointers alone if he follows Spo's directive.
Nov 3 - 1:18 PM

Luke Babbitt chipped in six points, five rebounds and four assists vs. the Spurs on Sunday, going 2-of-6 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers.

Derrick Williams and Udonis Haslem were both DNP-CDs tonight, and the starting PF job is Babbitt's to lose -- Josh McRoberts looms as the biggest threat, but his return date is unknown. Even with a starting job in hand, Babbitt offers little more than a handful of points and 3-pointers.
