Randy Wittman acknowledged it's going to be an important offseason for Kevin Seraphin, Trevor Booker, Chris Singleton and Jan Vesely.
All four reserves regressed this season and it was pretty obvious to see. "It's time for them to step up and show me who we need to move forward with and who we don't," WIttman said. Seraphin and Booker have shown some promise throughout their young careers at certain points, but Singleton and Vesely have been largely disappointing since being drafted in the first round of the 2011 draft. Kevin Seraphin scored 10 points with nine boards, three assists and two blocks in 31 minutes against the Bulls on Wednesday.

Considering Emeka Okafor and Nene were out, it was a mildly disappointing finale for Seraphin. He had a hot start this year, averaging 11.5 points and 5.5 boards in November, but really fizzled out. He'll need some breaks to have an impact next year.
Apr 17 - 11:14 PM

Kevin Seraphin had a long overdue productive game on Monday, shooting 8-of-12 from the field for 17 points with seven boards and one block in 26 minutes.

Now that Nene is out for the year, Seraphin will get some minutes. Seraphin really fizzled out this year after a solid start, but he should have a chance to put up similar numbers on Wednesday vs. Chicago.
Apr 15 - 10:35 PM

Kevin Seraphin may pass on playing for the French national team this summer in order to improve his game.

That’s something that I really want to," Seraphin said of representing France, "but the thing is now, I try to improve. The [Wizards] want me to improve, too. I try to be better for my team, for sure. I know my turn will come." Seraphin is looking at a big offseason and has to improve both his rebounding and passing in order to have a more complete offensive game. Seraphin plans to work on his conditioning and his diet so he can stay healthy throughout the entire 82-game season.
Apr 15 - 11:16 AM

Kevin Seraphin logged 36 minutes off the Wizards bench on Saturday, scoring 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting, with four rebounds, two assists and one block.

This is the second time Seraphin has played 30+ minutes since mid-January, and he only got this much burn because Nene was mired in early foul trouble. He could be turned loose for evaluation purposes down the stretch, but owners should take a wait-and-see approach before picking him up.
Apr 6 - 9:46 PM

Kevin Seraphin had 12 points and eight rebounds on 6-of-14 shooting in 31 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.

He's starting to make some noise, but isn't yet reliable, as it's important to note the Wizards were without Nene, Martell Webster, Trevor Ariza and Bradley Beal tonight. But if Nene is shut down at some point, both Seraphin and Trevor Booker, who had 10 points, eight boards and a block in a start, will both be worth a close look in most leagues.
Mar 28 - 12:15 AM

Kevin Seraphin scored 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting with five rebounds and two blocks in 29 minutes off the bench on Friday.

Emeka Okafor (flu) was out so Seraphin's value will hinge on his return, which should be sooner rather than later, but there was an earlier report that Nene is gutting out some relatively minor injuries to keep owners' attention. Seraphin isn't worth anything more than a speculative add for spot work right now, but that could change if the Wizards decide to shut Nene down.
Mar 23 - 1:45 AM

Coach Randy Wittman said Friday that Kevin Seraphin is doing a much better job, and beat writer J. Michael believes he "could get more chances."

Michael also points out that Nene is "having trouble getting to the finish line" with "sore knees, a shoulder, and a wrist." Part of Seraphin's problems looked a lot like a guy reading his own press clippings over the summer, as his shot selection was atrocious and that led to a stint in the doghouse. Perhaps the lesson has been learned, and owners will want to watch the situation closely and be ready to move if that is the case.
Mar 22 - 4:48 PM

Kevin Seraphin hit 8-of-11 shots for 16 points, five rebounds and two blocks in one of his best games of the season on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, it happened because Emeka Okafor missed his first game of the season due to an illness. Expect Seraphin to struggle again once Okafor is back in the lineup.
Mar 21 - 2:44 AM

Kevin Seraphin, who was a DNP-Coach's Decision in the Wizards comeback win over the Rockets, admitted that not playing is "really tough" for him.

"It’s really tough, but for me, I think I have to be more focused in the game," he said. "I don’t really know. Right now I’m just in a struggle right now so I need to get back, just keeping working more. I need to do it to get it back." He's averaging just 3.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 14.1 minutes on 38.9 percent shooting over his last nine games.
Feb 25 - 12:29 PM

Kevin Seraphin scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting with seven rebounds and one steal against the Kings on Monday.

Seraphin has disappeared due to the re-emergence of Emeka Okafor (23 & 15) and general presence of Nene, and tonight he got a soft Kings interior to do damage against. He has some slight stash appeal because both of the players in front of him are injury prone, but needs to improve his consistency to earn minutes and touches.
Jan 28 - 10:53 PM

Kevin Seraphin shot 7-of-11 from the field for 18 points with seven boards and one block in 26 minutes on Friday.

He had a big put-back bucket late in the game that essentially put the game out of reach in Denver. Seraphin has turned it up a notch in his last three, averaging 17.7 points in 27.7 minutes. On the other hand, his rebounds are a little low, so he's not quite a slam-dunk player to own in standard leagues just yet.
Jan 19 - 1:36 AM

Kevin Seraphin had 16 points, three rebounds and a block off the bench on Wednesday.

He's averaging 15 points over his last five games, scoring between 14 and 19 in four of them, but has grabbed more than five boards just one time, averaging 4.6 over that stretch. He's worth owning due to the scoring and potential for success off the Wiz bench, but his lack of rebounds is a valid concern, and has been all season.
Jan 17 - 1:17 AM

Kevin Seraphin had 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks in a win over the Magic on Monday.

This line looks good, but 12 of his 18 points came in the fourth quarter with the game decided. Seraphin continues to show his upside when he gets minutes, but Randy Wittman doesn't seem to want to let him loose. He's more of a player to stash at this point, but he'd gain some value in the event of a Nene (two points and three boards in 16 minutes) injury.
Jan 14 - 9:51 PM

Kevin Seraphin scored 19 points on 8-of-20 shooting with five rebounds in 38 minutes on Monday against the Thunder.

Seraphin did not record a steal or block, and though the 19 points look nice the efficiency and peripherals are obviously not where they need to be. We still like his upside in the second half of the season, especially if and when John Wall can start helping him get some easier looks, but he'll be inconsistent until Randy Wittman unleashes him.
