Nemanja Bjelica scored 11 points in 21 minutes off the bench vs. OKC, making 4-of-5 shots with one 3-pointer, five rebounds, one steal and two turnovers.
It was a promising debut for the 27-year-old rookie, who had a very impressive EuroBasket tournament this summer. The Wolves intend to plug him straight into their rotation and adventurous owners should view him as a potential lotto ticket in the final rounds. Oct 7 - 11:37 PM

Interim head coach Sam Mitchell has already been impressed by rookie Nemanja Bjelica.

"Very smart, moves the ball, can shoot the ball, just wants to play, unselfish to a fault," Mitchell said of Bjelica. "I like the way he plays. I’ve seen him on tape, but I like him a lot more in person." Bjelica was dominant for Serbia during Eurobasket and the 27-year-old should be ready to contribute for Minnesota right out of the gate. Bjelica should be a key player in the second unit, and he is definitely a player to keep an eye on during the preseason.
Oct 2 - 10:14 AM

Nemanja Bjelica did a little bit of everything for Serbia during their loss to France on Sunday, scoring 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting to go with six boards, three assists, two 3-pointers, one steal, one block and two turnovers through 32 minutes of work.

Bjelica is certainly not lacking in talent, and it'll be exciting to see how he performs at the NBA level. The 27-year-old will have to initially fend off Shabazz Muhammad and Tayshaun Prince for minutes, but it's plausible he finds himself in a sixth man role with the Wolves. We'll be watching to see how he settles into the rotation leading up to the regular-season, but he's certainly on the radar in deep leagues.
Sep 20 - 11:14 AM

Nemanja Bjelica scored 10 points against Lithuania on Friday, adding three rebounds, two assists and one steal and two 3-pointers.

He fouled out in 28 minutes and struggled to get position against the big frontline of Lithuania. This event served as an eye-opener for the NBA world and we'll be awaiting his arrival with the Wolves in a couple weeks. The EuroLeague MVP has a good chance to be in the rotation and may have value in deeper leagues off the bat.
Sep 18 - 5:11 PM

Nemanja Bjelica had another solid game on Wednesday during a win over the Czech Republic, scoring 14 points with 10 boards, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer.

The Serbians will advance to the semifinals to take on the winner of the Italy-Lithuania game. Bjelica keeps putting up nice lines and fantasy owners have to like seeing the blocks, steals and treys coming into play. He's still not worth drafting in most leagues, but throw him on your watch list.
Sep 16 - 2:19 PM

Nemanja Bjelica continued to light up Eurobasket on Sunday in a win over Finland, scoring 19 points with 14 boards in 29 minutes.

Bjelica also added two assists and one 3-pointer to his name, and he has been one of the most impressive players at the tournament so far. The Wolves have a lot of depth in their frontcourt, but Bjelica's ability to play multiple positions means that he could carve out a significant role this season. He is on the radar in standard leagues, and owners will want to watch him closely during the preseason.
Sep 13 - 10:37 AM

Nemanja Bjelica needed just 23 minutes to score 19 points against Italy on Thursday, adding eight rebounds, four assists and one 3-pointer.

He was 8-of-10 from the field and dominated the Italian big men. Bjelica has made a name for himself this month and Wolves general manager Milt Newton said he expects Bjelica to contribute this season. Still, he's going to be behind guys like Karl-Anthony Towns, Gorgui Dieng and perhaps Nikola Pekovic (ankle) if he can get healthy. Most owners can just keep an eye on him and add him to the watch list.
Sep 10 - 12:12 PM

Nemanja Bjelica played just 18 minutes during Serbia's 93-64 win over Iceland at EuroBasket on Tuesday.

Bjelica finished with seven points, four rebounds, and two assists while shooting 3-of-4 from the field. Bjelica has looked great during group play after winning the 2015 Euroleague MVP award and has positioned himself as a late-round value in standard fantasy league drafts.
Sep 8 - 12:02 PM

General manager Milt Newton said Nemanja Bjelica is expected to "contribute right away."

Newton said Bjelica "knows how to play the game" and praised how well-rounded his game is. The 2015 Euroleague MVP is tearing it up in FIBA and dropped 24 points on Saturday. He can play the four or the five and has already put himself on the map in standard leagues.
Sep 6 - 3:25 PM

Nemanja Bjelica continued his impressive showing at Eurobasket on Sunday by hitting a game-winning floater in the closing seconds of Serbia's win over Germany, finishing with 12 points, three boards, three assists and one 3-pointer.

Bjelica has arguably been the most impressive player at the tournament so far, and the Wolves have to be thrilled that they locked him up on a three-year deal this summer. He wasn't as great as he was yesterday against Spain when he scored 24 points with 10 boards and four assists, but he has been doing a little bit of everything for Serbia. The Wolves have a lot of depth at both forward slots, but head coach Flip Saunders will clearly have to find a role for this guy. Bjelica is on the radar in deeper fantasy leagues.
Sep 6 - 11:07 AM

Wolves forward Nemanja Bjelica was a beast in Serbia's thrilling 80-70 win over Spain, scoring 24 points with 10 boards, four assists and three 3-pointers.

Wow. We knew that Bjelica had some serious skills when Minnesota signed him to a three-year deal this summer, but he carried an underwhelming Serbian team against a Spain squad that featured players such as Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic. Bjelica played the point forward role and showed some solid playmaking skills, but his ability to create shots for himself was also impressive. Wolves head coach Flip Saunders hinted that Bjelica will make an impact right away and that he can play multiple positions, so he is on the radar in deeper leagues.
Sep 5 - 1:54 PM

Flip Saunders stated during Nemanja Bjelica's introductory press conference, that the reason they were drawn to him was his ability to come in and make an impact right away.

Saunders went on to say that Bjelica was probably NBA-ready about two years ago, and that he can do things on the basketball court that other players on the roster can't, so it sounds like Bjelica could be getting consistent minutes right out the gate. He is, however, behind Kevin Martin and Andrew Wiggins on the depth chart, so that puts a cap on his upside.
Jul 15 - 1:33 PM

Nemanja Bjelica has officially signed with the Timberwolves.

The reigning Euroleague MVP will sign a three-year, $12 million deal to join the Timberwolves. We'll keep an eye on the 27-year-old as training camp begins, but Bjelica may need some NBA seasoning before he makes an impact for fantasy owners.
Jul 14 - 1:49 PM

The Timberwolves have agreed to terms with Nemanja Bjelica on a three-year deal.

The Wolves were able to get a buyout worked out with Fenerbache and they'll have the Serbian forward this season. The Wolves had some serious issues at power forward last season, but they're a little better this year with Karl-Anthony Towns. Although, he was the Euroleague MVP last season, so he might be able to gather some playing time. We'll keep an eye on him.
Jul 6 - 2:28 PM

Nemanja Bjelica reportedly exercised an out clause with Fenerbache Ulker of Turkey on Wednesday, and he appears set to come to the states to play for the Wolves.

There was a report on Tuesday that said Bjelica was unlikely to play in summer league, but hopefully this news changes that. Head coach Flip Saunders believes that Bjelica has the ability to play small forward and power forward in the NBA, but he will likely be stuck behind Andrew Wiggins in the rotation.
