Tom Thibodeau said that Nemanja Bjelica (foot) will be a "critical piece" for the Wolves next season.
Thibodeau also said that Bjelica has been rehabbing at the Timberwolves practice facility this summer, but didn't offer a firm timetable for his return. Bjelica suffered a navicular bone fracture to his left foot in March, but if he continues to rehab without experiencing any setbacks, there's a chance he'll be ready for the start of his 2017-18 campaign. It sounds like Bjelica will earn quality minutes with the Wolves next year, but as long as Gorgui Dieng is healthy, it's unlikely Bjelica will earn enough minutes to warrant standard league consideration. Nemanja Bjelica (foot) isn't expected to play for Serbia in EuroBasket this September.

He had season-ending surgery to repair a fractured navicular bone in his left foot in mid-March and currently doesn't have a timetable to return. He can only shoot while seated, so he doesn't exactly sound close to a return. Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau rode his starters into the ground for most of the season, but Bjelica eventually carved out a decent role after the All-Star break and averaged 8.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.7 blocks, 0.6 steals and 1.0 triples in that span. The 29-year-old forward will likely be the first big off the bench for the Wolves again in 2017-18 once he's healthy.

Nemanja Bjelica will undergo surgery Tuesday in New York to repair a fractured navicular bone in his left foot.

It was announced last week that Bjelica would be sidelined for the remained of the 2016-17 season. The Wolves will provide an update after the surgery is completed. Hopefully it is successful and Bjelica will be on track to return next season

Nemanja Bjelica (left foot) will miss the rest of the season.

An MRI revealed the injury and the team will provide updates on the specifics. This is a really tough blow for the Wolves, who vastly improved on defense and have run an air-tight rotation with Bjelica in there with minutes in the 20s while Gorgui Dieng slid over to the five spot while Karl-Anthony Towns was on the bench. In the second half on Wednesday, Shabazz Muhammad played 16.1 minutes while Brandon Rush saw 13.4. The Wolves may have to shake things up and play Cole Aldrich again. If you need points, Muhummad is worth a look despite how his shot has fallen off a cliff lately. Rush may actually have better value in deep leagues.

Nemanja Bjelica (left ankle) will have an MRI on Thursday.

Bjelica exited the arena in a walking boot after Wednesday's game, so there's a good chance he'll be forced to miss Friday's game in Miami. If he does miss any games, Shabazz Muhammad and Gorgui Dieng should absorb the bulk of his playing time.
Mar 15 - 11:16 PM

Nemanja Bjelica suffered a left ankle injury in the second quarter of Wednesday's game and is doubtful to return.

It wasn't a clear injury on Bjelica, but obviously getting called doubtful is bad news. Bjelica has been fantastic lately with the Wolves basically going with a seven-man rotation for guys getting 15 minutes. We should see a lot of Shabazz Muhammad and maybe even Cole Aldrich gets back in the rotation. This helps Andrew Wiggins and Gorgui Dieng, too.
Mar 15 - 8:56 PM

Nemanja Bjelica finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds over 29 minutes in Monday's 119-104 win against the Wizards.

Bjelica has posted four double-doubles this season, all of which have come over the past seven games. He is averaging 9.9 points with 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists during the impressive seven-game run. Bjelica still isn't worth fantasy consideration outside the deepest of seasonal formats, but he has emerged as a solid sleeper in DFS play lately.
Mar 13 - 11:26 PM

Nemanja Bjelica scored 10 points with 12 rebounds, two assists and no turnovers in 34 minutes against the Warriors on Friday night.

The Wolves have tweaked their rotation slightly with giving Gorgui Dieng some extra minutes at the five and bumping Cole Aldrich out. Bjelica has played 52 minutes in the last seven games next to Dieng, so that explains his recent increase in output. In his previous six games, he averaged 7.8 points, 5.7 boards, 1.7 assists, 1.0 blocks, 0.8 steals and 1.2 treys. He is matchup dependent here, so he's a tough pickup in standard leagues.
Mar 11 - 12:19 AM

Nemanja Bjelica scored 13 points with 11 rebounds, five assists, one steal, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes against the Jazz on Wednesday.

He's starting to heat up a little bit with back-to-back double-doubles, and this was also a season-high dime total in the win. Bjelica did score four points in the fourth quarter, so his playing time does appear to be on the rise. Still, he's not getting small forward minutes, so his value will be tied to foul trouble or struggles to Gorgui Dieng. Bjelica is only worth a look in deep leagues for now.
Mar 2 - 12:54 AM

Nemanja Bjelica finished Monday's game against the Kings with 10 points and 12 rebounds over 35 minutes.

Bjelica also added two assists and two steals with zero turnovers while hitting a pair of 3-pointers. He was playing extended minutes with the game out of hand in the second half. In fact, he played his most minutes since he logged 41 back on Nov. 13 against the Lakers. He remains useful only in deeper leagues, playing 18-22 minutes per contest.
Feb 28 - 1:10 AM

The Knicks have liked Nemanja Bjelica for a while and inquired about his availability in Derrick Rose talks, according to Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today.

Much to the dismay of Wolves fans, the Rose talks look like they'll continue through the deadline. Coach Tom Thibodeau was going to entertain the idea of playing Bjelica at the three, but it just hasn't happened to limit his minutes. If the Knicks are selling and possibly shut players down, Bjelica could get a slight bump in value with a deal. Obviously fantasy owners can stand pat here.
Feb 22 - 5:55 PM

Tom Thibodeau completed a season sweep vs. his former team on Sunday, aided by Nemanja Bjelica's 16 points, three 3-pointers, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.

Bjelica did his damage in a mere 19 minutes off the bench, while facing a depleted Bulls team, so it's hard to get too excited here. He hadn't scored double-digit points since mid-January and this was his best all-around game since November. Zach LaVine's absence could help him, though, and we'll let you know if he strings together a few more strong performances.
Feb 12 - 6:27 PM

Nemanja Bjelica scored three points with one assist and one 3-pointer in 15 minutes against the Raptors on Wednesday.

The Wolves aren't looking at Bjelica as a small forward right now. Maybe that'll change, but he hasn't seen any sort of increase since the Zach LaVine (knee) injury.
Feb 9 - 1:28 AM

Nemanja Bjelica scored four points with six rebounds, five assists and one block in 23 minutes against the Pistons on Friday.

He did play eight minutes in the fourth quarter, which has a lot to do with Zach LaVine (knee) getting hurt and the Wolves trailing. While Bjelica's best game was when LaVine was out earlier in the year, it's important to remember that Shabazz Muhammad was also out for that one. If LaVine is out, Belly gets a bump for Saturday, but it may not be too much.
Feb 4 - 12:17 AM

Nemanja Bjelica scored eight points with three rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer in 14 minutes against the Thunder on Friday.

Interestingly, coach Tom Thibodeau talked up Bjelica after the game with how he plays with Karl-Anthony Towns. "The minutes he’s playing with Bjelly, it’s a different look and that’s really good for us as well," Thibodeau said. On the season, the Bjelica-Towns lineup is very similar in performance based on net rating, but they do run at a faster pace. For now, Bjelly is only a pickup in deeper leagues.
