Nemanja Bjelica scored three points with four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 20 minutes against the Lakers on Saturday.
He did not shift to the small forward spot in this game. Coach Tom Thibodeau has said the Wolves would need a big season out of Bjelica this year, but that was before they added Taj Gibson. There are a lot of mouths to feed on this roster, so new Papa Bjelly will be a tough guy to target in even very deep leagues. Oct 1 - 12:54 AM

Nemanja Bjelica will play on Saturday against the Lakers.

He is likely to be limited because he was away from the team for most of camp to be with his wife for the birth of their child. We'll see where he fits in the rotation and if he slides over to the three more.
Sep 30 - 9:06 PM

Tom Thibodeau said that Nemanja Bjelica has had "two solid days" in a row at camp and that he's "doing great" in his recovery a fractured left foot.

Bjelica's 2016-17 season came to an end in mid-March when he fractured the navicular bone in his left foot, but it sounds like he could be ready for the start of the 2017-18 season. Thibs hinted back in June that Bjelica would be an important piece for the Timberwolves, but that was prior to the club bringing in Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson. With those additions, it'll be tough for Bjelica to make an impact in standard fantasy leagues.
Sep 24 - 5:51 PM

Nemanja Bjelica (foot) said he is optimistic that he'll be ready for the start of the regular season.

Bjelica fractured a bone in his left foot in back in March. Coach Thibs said that Bjelica has been able to participate in non-contact drills and is "getting close," but has not yet been fully cleared by the team's medical staff. Even after he is fully healthy, Bjelica will have a tough time carving out consistent minutes given the additions to the Wolves frontcourt this summer. Minnesota traded for Jimmy Butler, signed Taj Gibson and re-signed Shabazz Muhammad.

Nemanja Bjelica (foot) has not yet been fully cleared by doctors, but is "getting closer."

Bjelica suffered a navicular bone fracture to his left foot in March. Coach Thibodeau told reporters that Bjelica is "coming along well" and that he is shooting, running and doing drills on the court. Bjelica showed promise last season, but with the Wolves signing Taj Gibson to expensive two-year contract this summer, Bjelica may see his minutes reduced in 2017-18, even if he is fully healthy by the start of the season.
Aug 29 - 9:49 AM

Tom Thibodeau said that Nemanja Bjelica (foot) will be a "critical piece" for the Wolves next season.

Thibodeau also said that Bjelica has been rehabbing at the Timberwolves practice facility this summer, but didn't offer a firm timetable for his return. Bjelica suffered a navicular bone fracture to his left foot in March, but if he continues to rehab without experiencing any setbacks, there's a chance he'll be ready for the start of his 2017-18 campaign. It sounds like Bjelica will earn quality minutes with the Wolves next year, but as long as Gorgui Dieng is healthy, it's unlikely Bjelica will earn enough minutes to warrant standard league consideration.
Jun 21 - 12:25 PM

Nemanja Bjelica (foot) isn't expected to play for Serbia in EuroBasket this September.

He had season-ending surgery to repair a fractured navicular bone in his left foot in mid-March and currently doesn't have a timetable to return. He can only shoot while seated, so he doesn't exactly sound close to a return. Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau rode his starters into the ground for most of the season, but Bjelica eventually carved out a decent role after the All-Star break and averaged 8.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.7 blocks, 0.6 steals and 1.0 triples in that span. The 29-year-old forward will likely be the first big off the bench for the Wolves again in 2017-18 once he's healthy.
May 14 - 10:10 AM

Nemanja Bjelica will undergo surgery Tuesday in New York to repair a fractured navicular bone in his left foot.

It was announced last week that Bjelica would be sidelined for the remained of the 2016-17 season. The Wolves will provide an update after the surgery is completed. Hopefully it is successful and Bjelica will be on track to return next season
Mar 21 - 1:13 PM

Nemanja Bjelica (left foot) will miss the rest of the season.

An MRI revealed the injury and the team will provide updates on the specifics. This is a really tough blow for the Wolves, who vastly improved on defense and have run an air-tight rotation with Bjelica in there with minutes in the 20s while Gorgui Dieng slid over to the five spot while Karl-Anthony Towns was on the bench. In the second half on Wednesday, Shabazz Muhammad played 16.1 minutes while Brandon Rush saw 13.4. The Wolves may have to shake things up and play Cole Aldrich again. If you need points, Muhummad is worth a look despite how his shot has fallen off a cliff lately. Rush may actually have better value in deep leagues.
Mar 16 - 4:47 PM

Nemanja Bjelica (left ankle) will have an MRI on Thursday.

Bjelica exited the arena in a walking boot after Wednesday's game, so there's a good chance he'll be forced to miss Friday's game in Miami. If he does miss any games, Shabazz Muhammad and Gorgui Dieng should absorb the bulk of his playing time.
Mar 15 - 11:16 PM

Nemanja Bjelica suffered a left ankle injury in the second quarter of Wednesday's game and is doubtful to return.

It wasn't a clear injury on Bjelica, but obviously getting called doubtful is bad news. Bjelica has been fantastic lately with the Wolves basically going with a seven-man rotation for guys getting 15 minutes. We should see a lot of Shabazz Muhammad and maybe even Cole Aldrich gets back in the rotation. This helps Andrew Wiggins and Gorgui Dieng, too.
Mar 15 - 8:56 PM

Nemanja Bjelica finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds over 29 minutes in Monday's 119-104 win against the Wizards.

Bjelica has posted four double-doubles this season, all of which have come over the past seven games. He is averaging 9.9 points with 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists during the impressive seven-game run. Bjelica still isn't worth fantasy consideration outside the deepest of seasonal formats, but he has emerged as a solid sleeper in DFS play lately.
Mar 13 - 11:26 PM

Nemanja Bjelica scored 10 points with 12 rebounds, two assists and no turnovers in 34 minutes against the Warriors on Friday night.

The Wolves have tweaked their rotation slightly with giving Gorgui Dieng some extra minutes at the five and bumping Cole Aldrich out. Bjelica has played 52 minutes in the last seven games next to Dieng, so that explains his recent increase in output. In his previous six games, he averaged 7.8 points, 5.7 boards, 1.7 assists, 1.0 blocks, 0.8 steals and 1.2 treys. He is matchup dependent here, so he's a tough pickup in standard leagues.
Mar 11 - 12:19 AM

Nemanja Bjelica scored 13 points with 11 rebounds, five assists, one steal, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes against the Jazz on Wednesday.

He's starting to heat up a little bit with back-to-back double-doubles, and this was also a season-high dime total in the win. Bjelica did score four points in the fourth quarter, so his playing time does appear to be on the rise. Still, he's not getting small forward minutes, so his value will be tied to foul trouble or struggles to Gorgui Dieng. Bjelica is only worth a look in deep leagues for now.
Mar 2 - 12:54 AM

Nemanja Bjelica finished Monday's game against the Kings with 10 points and 12 rebounds over 35 minutes.

Bjelica also added two assists and two steals with zero turnovers while hitting a pair of 3-pointers. He was playing extended minutes with the game out of hand in the second half. In fact, he played his most minutes since he logged 41 back on Nov. 13 against the Lakers. He remains useful only in deeper leagues, playing 18-22 minutes per contest.
